How Does NFL Over/Under Futures Odds Even Work?
The gambler has to predict whether or not the team’s total wins for said season will be more or less than the oddsmakers set number (Or the betting line).
Below you’ll see the Cardinals O/U Line (Win Total) is 6.5. It’s up to you to decide if they’ll have MORE than 6.5 wins, or less than 6.5 wins. If OVER you’ll be betting $130 to win $100. If you’re betting UNDER you’ll wager $100 to win $100.
This tells us Vegas is expecting Arizona to have MORE than 6.5 wins since you have to bet more if you think that’s the correct prediction.
The Oddsmakers usually look at past records, free agent signings, roster shake up, NFL draft, and the sometimes the schedule before setting the number for NFL Win Total Betting lines.
When the official NFL schedule comes out expect these odds to change somewhat.
2020 NFL Win Total Odds – Early Thoughts
Vegas has weighed in with their 2020 NFL Win Total odds and they think the Chiefs (11.5 wins), Ravens (11), Patriots (10.5) and 49ers (10.5) are the teams with the best chances of running up some wins next season.
I have to admit it’s hard to argue with the Chiefs and Ravens. Both have the two brightest young QB’s in the NFL, so they’re both poised and primed to look good for many years to come.
The Pats and 49ers on the other hand we’re just not sold on.
QB questions remain for both of course.
Five teams have double-digit win totals, three teams have under a six win total. Vegas is NOT expecting the Dolphins, Bengals, or Redskins to have great seasons, they should start making plans for the 2021 NFL Draft now.
Vegas does think the Saints, Eagles, Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks, and Vikings will be right there in the mix. Interesting that they are all NFC teams. It could be a down year in the AFC in terms of parody.
