2020 NFC East Predictions: Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys Odds to Win 2021 Super Bowl: +1800
Cowboys Odds to Win NFC Conference: +800
Cowboys Odds to Win NFC East Division: +100
For the Cowboys, the offseason was all about keeping Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper in the fold, and Jerry Jones did just that, giving new head coach Mike McCarthy a full offseason with his offensive stars in tow.
And when it seemed like the offense was set, Oklahoma standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb fell to the Cowboys at No. 17 overall to add another playmaker on offense.
The surprise retirement of Travis Frederick hurts, as does the loss of Byron Jones, but Trevon Diggs was a good addition in the draft, as was Neville Gallimore as the team addressed needs all over the field in what was a strong draft haul.
2020 NFC East Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles Odds to Win 2021 Super Bowl: +1800
Eagles Odds to Win NFC Conference: +900
Eagles Odds to Win NFC East Division: +120
There was no shortage of suitors for cornerback Darius Slay, and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman went out and got him. Slay joins Nickell Robey-Coleman in an improved Eagles secondary that’s been a weakness for this team for years.
The offense is going to go as far as Carson Wentz can take them, and Roseman gave him a pair of new, speedy weapons in veteran Marquise Goodwin and first-round pick Jalen Reagor out of TCU.
Of course, backup quarterback has been a crucial position for the Eagles in reason years, so they added Jalen Hurts in the second round of the draft.
2020 NFC East Predictions: Washington Redskins
Redskins Odds to Win 2021 Super Bowl: +2000
Redskins Odds to Win NFC Conference: +10000
Redskins Odds to Win NFC East Division: +25000
While new Carolina head coach Matt Rhule overhauled his new roster with the Panthers, new Redskins coach Ron Rivera’s roster isn’t drastically different.
Rivera likes to build through the draft, and added the 2020 class’s top defender in edge rusher Chase Young out of Ohio State – a dynamic pass-rusher who’ll be a building block for the team for years to come.
Mainstay Trent Williams was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, adding a fifth-rounder this year and a third-round pick in 2021. The rebuild is in full effect in Washington.
2020 NFC East Predictions: New York Giants
Giants Odds to Win 2021 Super Bowl: +6000
Giants Odds to Win NFC Conference: +3500
Giants Odds to Win NFC East Division: +800
Say what you will about general manager Dave Gettleman – he’s added some nice pieces to the roster this offseason. Free agency was kind to the Giants, with cornerback James Bradberry and linebacker Blake Martinez coming to town.
The draft saw some nice additions as well, with the offensive line being addressed both in rounds 1 and 3, and the secondary getting help in rounds 2 and 4. Gettleman will likely look to add another pass-catcher before the season starts to help with Daneil Jones’s development.
Cappers Picks 2020 NFC East Predictions
The NFC East has become a two-horse race with the Cowboys and Eagles separating from the rebuilding Giants and Redskins.
The Cowboys started the season hot a year ago but weren’t able to hold on to that momentum for 16 games, while the Eagles were able to close strong and back into the NFC’s final playoff spot by claiming the division crown with only nine wins.
New head coach Mike McCarthy should breathe some fresh life into the Cowboys’ offense, and with all the skill the team currently possesses on that side of the ball, if the team buys into his offense quickly, they could be a real force in 2020.
