Ready to check out our 2020 Houston Texans Win Total Predictions? With the circumstances, the only league that is kind of normal right now is the NFL…unless you are looking at the Texans. Depending on your outlook they have either been aggressive or stupid with their moves over the last month. This team is definitely one of the most interesting in the league right now. They are lucky their division gives them lots of margin for error.

Houston has won the AFC South the last couple of seasons and four of the last five. Playoff disappointments have motivated them to try things a little bit differently this season. The problem is they might have upset their best asset in the process.
That would be quarterback DeShaun Watson, who might be the second-best young quarterback in the league after Patrick Mahomes. They traded away his best target, DeAndre Hopkins, and appear to be jabbing at him to the point that there are rumours of a holdout. If that happens, all bets are off this season.
Even though many are going to second guess the move the Texans are making, it does not change the fact that they are in an easy division and have a great chance at yet another AFC South title.
It is more a question of why…which might create a little short term value, until we see what they are on the field.
2020/21 NFL Team Predictions – Houston Texans
- Houston Texans 2021 Super Bowl Odds: +2200
- Texans 2020 Win Total NFL Odds: 7.5
Key Additions:
- Brandin Cooks, WR
- Randall Cobb, WR
- David Johnson, RB
This offseason has been all about shuffling the deck at the skill positions. Cooks have travelled way more than you would think for a productive player. He can be a #1 guy but is more speedy/shifty than tough. A different cover than Hopkins.
Johns was the primary get from the Hopkins deal. A couple of years ago he was the most productive running back in the league but injuries and changes in Arizona limited him.
Cobb has not done much since leaving Green Bay but he has his moments. If others are taking attention away he can be a playmaker.
Key Losses:
- DeAndre Hopkins, WR
- Lamar Miller, RB
- Carlos Hyde, RB
Hopkins is in the top five for his position. They might be looking at addition by subtraction in the locker room but they gave up a lot for that. His trade makes it seem like they are really going all in on Will Fuller to start playing to his potential as a big receiver.
2020 Houston Texans Predictions: Off Season Analysis
Per the intro the Texans have definitely shaken things up this offseason. Whether they have actually gotten any better remains to be seen.
Hopkins might have been a headache from time to time but they should be just fine at the wide receiver position. A healthy Johnson could make a huge difference as an outlet for DeShaun Watson. He catches the ball really well at the running back position and might mean a few less hits per game for Watson.
The defense could use some reinforcement. We all know the ceiling of JJ Watt but injuries have ravaged him the last few seasons. Another dynamic player would not take any pressure off but it would hugely help their depth.
At this stage, it is going to be all about the 2020 NFL draft next week. They do not have a first-round pick next week but they have three picks in the 7th. They are going to be scratching some lottery tickets there.
2020 Houston Texans Win Total Prediction
Being in the AFC South gives the Texans a nice cushion. Tennessee made the playoffs last year as a Wild Card but week in and week out this is not the most competitive group. They should win all of their home games with ease and be in coin flip scenarios on the road.
Outside the division, Houston is taking on the AFC North and NFC North. Baltimore and Green Bay stand out there but I think they could easily slide or be less lucky than they were a year ago, when they lost a combined 5 games in the regular season. I like Houston’s chances in those games.

As a first-place team they have the “luxury” of taking on the others so their remaining two games are against Kansas City and New England. They likely split those ones with New England being a hard team to handicap right now after Tom Brady. They might play in a lot of close games this season but that 7.5 looks too low for me. I think they get 9 or 10 wins to cover it.
