The Cowboys were one of the biggest let downs in all of football last season. After starting the season 3-0, many thought they were poised to make another run at the Lombardi trophy. That claim was swiftly denied as they simply under performed for the rest of the season. Injuries were not to blame, rather inept coaching and capability not living up to talent.
Dak Prescott dipped off towards the end of the season, but is still the quarterback for this franchise for the now and later. Ezekiel Elliott had a slower campaign as it looked like he lost a step.

There were a few pleasant surprises last season such as Jourdan Lewis and Lael Collins. Along with surprises, there were also severe let downs by way of Leighton Vander Esch and Trysten Hill.

Key Free Agents:
- Byron Jones
- Amari Cooper
- Robert Quinn
- Sean Lee
Byron Jones is very well on his way out of Dallas to become one of the highest paid defensive backs in league history. They will look to the draft to find his replacement and help with an already weak secondary. Do not be surprised if they spend two of their first three picks in the secondary.
Amari Cooper is an essential part to this team’s success, so if they do not re-sign him, they will be left with a gaping hole at wide receiver and wasted a first round pick in the process. Michael Gallup may be ready to step up if Cooper is not in Dallas next season, but after that, their depth is shallow.
Robert Quinn, like Jones, will probably be too rich for the Cowboys after his impressive campaign last season. I don’t expect him to be back in Dallas as he should enjoy a nice pay day, which is well overdue.
Sean Lee, although not as important as he once was, is still a leader a reliable rotation player. Vander Esch will need to return from injury swimmingly and if he does not, Lee will be essential to this team next season.
2020 Dallas Cowboys Predictions: Off Season Analysis
I would imagine Cooper and Lee will re-sign and Quinn and Jones will walk away. Michael Bennett and Maliek Collins will probably leave as well. Their draft outlook is contingent on Cooper coming back. If he comes back, secondary will be the pick. If he leaves, a wide receiver will be the pick at 17 and this team is in trouble.
They may have some money to spend in free agency, but are not known for their splash signings. Rather see a plethora of signings like we did last year in Kerry Hyder and Christian Covington.
2020 Dallas Cowboys Win Total Prediction
I think the Cowboys will rebound nicely and win the division. Bold predictions include Zeke running for 2,000 yards and Demarcus Lawrence being in the top 5 of the league with sacks. If they can learn how to not beat themselves with a new coaching staff, they will do much better than last year.

I hate repeating myself, but it really is contingent on Cooper, which gives him the upper hand in free agency. It will be interesting to see what he demands and if the Cowboys are willing to meet them.
