04-30-21 | Bucks -1 v. Bulls | 108-98 | Win | 100 | 8 h 21 m | Show
Bucks/Bulls 9:10: Bucks lost Giannis (ankle) last night early and it surely disrupted their play in Houston. Tonight, we'll look for them to battle back. Bucks have more than enough talent surrounding Holiday and Middleton to carry them here vs Lavine -less Bulls. Tread lightly however, Bucks not a great team unrested; however, they do play well in Chicago (8-0 ATS). |
|||||||
04-30-21 | Spurs +4.5 v. Celtics | 140-143 | Win | 100 | 7 h 2 m | Show
Spurs/Celtics 7:40: Boston cooling off a bit after a hot run. The Celtics are on a 1-3 ATS slide and will be without two key players - Walker (oblique) and energy guy on both ends of the floor - Smart (suspension). Spurs desperate to hang on to Play-In positioning. Spurs are coming off a loss to Miami and control a 4-1 ATS mark off a SU loss and 15-5-1 ATS as a road dog. Sure, White is out but Spurs have good depth at point with Murray and Mills. And surely DeRozan can run the show. Spurs the call. |
|||||||
04-29-21 | Bucks -12.5 v. Rockets | 136-143 | Loss | -110 | 19 h 50 m | Show
Bucks/Rockets 8:10: Bucks bolstering their defensive presence with the addition of P.J. Tucker. Most of the Bucks' playoff roster set and they're still capable of grabbing that #1 seed with a strong finish and some falling off from Brooklyn and Philadelphia. As for Houston, they're playing out the season with a makeshift lineup. Bucks 5-1 ATS vs team under .400. We'll look for the the #1 offense in the NBA to roll tonight. |
|||||||
04-28-21 | Spurs +5 v. Heat | 111-116 | Push | 0 | 19 h 6 m | Show
Spurs/Heat 8:10: Heat dealing with some injuries and continuing inconsistent play, are welcoming revenge minded Spurs to Miami tonight. Spurs got blown out by Miami April 21st only to follow it up with a 3 game win streak. Popovich has them playing well and finishing. We'll take the points with the playoff minded Spurs. |
|||||||
04-28-21 | Lakers v. Wizards +3 | 107-116 | Win | 100 | 19 h 0 m | Show
Lakers/Wizards 7:40: Now that A.D. is back in the fray and LeBron days away from making his appearance again, pundits believe all is well in La La Land. Not buying it yet and value with the Wizards here. Wizards coming off a tough overtime loss Monday in their 2nd night of a back to back vs a surging Spurs team. They should bounce back here. Wizards defense, which allows 118.2 PPG during the regular season, whittled that number down to 110.9 during their win streak. Spurs ran them wild in that OT loss. We'll look for the Wizards legs to recover tonight. They're 9-1 ATS on 1 day of rest; moreover, back on February 15th, Washington came back from a 17 point deficit to whip Lakers (LeBron James present) 123-112. Lakers lost a pair of game to Dallas with Anthony Davis back with limited minutes and came back to win vs lightweight Orlando Monday. Lakers still not in great rhythm as major sparkplug Schroder (probable) battling a sprained ankle. We'll look for Westbrook and Beal to go off tonight. |
|||||||
04-28-21 | Bulls v. Knicks -5 | 94-113 | Win | 100 | 19 h 36 m | Show
Bulls/Knicks 7:40: Knicks let a double-digit lead elapse vs Phoenix on Monday. It was their first loss in 10 games. Randle finally went cold and the Knicks ran out of gas late. Nevertheless, we'll look for NY to bounce back strong here. HC Thibodeaux and former MVP Rose, two former Bulls, want to stick it to their old club. Bulls just 2-8 ATS at MSG. Knicks 12-3 ATS off a SU loss and a strong 20-6 ATS vs teams under .500. NY the call. |
|||||||
04-26-21 | Suns v. Knicks +2 | 118-110 | Loss | -114 | 17 h 5 m | Show
Suns/Knicks 7:40: Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA with 12 straight covers and 9 consecutive SU wins. We'll grab a bucket here with them at MSG. Randle has been consistently hot and his supporting cast is one of the reasons. When Derrick Rose is on the floor, Knicks are running a smooth offense. Thibodeaux may consider increasing his minutes in place of struggling Payton. Bullock, Barrett continue to be great in supporting roles. Suns appear to be running out of gas - as exhibited yesterday at Brooklyn. Suns miss Crowder's high energy. He's still questionable with a bad ankle. Suns just 1-4 ATS unrested and we'll stay on red hot Knicks. |
|||||||
04-25-21 | Suns +1.5 v. Nets | 119-128 | Loss | -107 | 1 h 18 m | Show
Analysis to follow... |
|||||||
04-24-21 | Spurs +2.5 v. Pelicans | 110-108 | Win | 100 | 16 h 20 m | Show
Spurs/Pelicans 8:10: Spurs are in a position to claim one of the final two Western Conference Playoff-Play-In games and I believe they'll be at full throttle tonight and deliver. Spurs were shorthanded Thursday with DeRozan (bruised quad), Murray and Mills getting rest in their second of back-to-backs. Spurs rallied and cruised by the Pistons. Gay (back issues) should be good to go tonight. Stakes are high tonight if a tie-breaker comes into play as the regular season wraps. Each team won a game on its home court this season. New Orleans coming off a blowout over lightweight Orlando; however, look for veteran championship winning Popovich to outcoach NBA retread Van Gundy. Pelicans still have major defensive lapses during critical moments of meaningful games. Pelicans need this game more than San Antonio but won't get it. Spurs have covered 4 straight in this series and I'm looking for them to cover a fifth tonight. |
|||||||
04-23-21 | Grizzlies +3.5 v. Blazers | 130-128 | Win | 100 | 20 h 23 m | Show
Grizzlies/Blazers 10:10: Grizzlies still in the playoff hunt and getting back Jaren Jackson Jr. will help. Jackson did well in his first game of the season earlier this week and we'll bet he helps Morant and company work the Blazers. Portland is reeling down the stretch on a 1-5 SU slide and even with Lillard back, Blazers' HC Stott finds ways of losing the close ones. Grizzlies a dangerous road team having covered 9 of their last 12 road tilts (losing one cover in MSG in OT). Memphis is a sweet 4-0 ATS off a SU loss of more than 10 points. We'll look for Grizzlies to take it to the wire here. |
|||||||
04-22-21 | Suns -1 v. Celtics | 86-99 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 22 m | Show
Suns/Celtics 7:10: Going to stay on Suns which are unrested yet rolling with momentum off big relief win at Philadelphia last night. Suns are healthy and well in to contention for NBA Western Conference #1 seed. This line opened with Suns a 6' to 7 point favorite on news of uncertainty of Boston's Tatum and Walker; however, dwindled down to -1 now that both are listed as "available". Nevertheless, Celtics won't have big man Williams III to keep Ayton off the glass, nor will they have Jaylen Brown (shoulder) who contributes 24.5 PPG. I will remain cautious because Suns have taken their foot off the throttle before against a banged up or inferior team - San Antonio April 17th blowout loss comes to mind; however, Suns know what's at stake and want that #1 seed, control a 10-2-1 ATS road run, 4-0 ATS at Boston, and 10-4 ATS unrested. And they get to rest a few days after this with Brooklyn on deck Sunday. Phoenix the call. |
|||||||
04-21-21 | Hawks v. Knicks -1.5 | 127-137 | Win | 100 | 17 h 28 m | Show
Hawks/Knicks 8:10: Knicks with 7 straight wins, 10 straight covers. NY took out Atlanta back on February 15th 123-112. Randle went off for 44 points in that one. He and the Knicks are still cooking with gas. Knicks still boast #1 defense in the NBA, making key stops down the stretch and hitting clutch shots. Atlanta playing a great stretch of basketball themselves. Ever since McMillan took over running the team, Atlanta has been rolling. Both teams playing unrested but like the Knicks depth and how Thibodeaux uses his bench. Knicks 5-0 ATS unrested and 5-0-1 ATS in series. Roll with the Knicks. |
|||||||
04-20-21 | Wolves v. Kings -3 | 134-120 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 0 m | Show
Wolves/Kings 10:10: Kings showed there is a glimmer of hope remaining for a potential Playoff-Play-In after dispatching the Mavericks Sunday. They need a serious winning run to go on and lightweight Minnesota is surely a winnable game. T-Wolves aren't seeing the playoffs and playing into revenge here. They got the best of Sacramento April 5th and the Kings should be ready tonight. Whiteside is back in the fray to add the needed depth while Barnes, Davis, Wright adding solid scoring. T-Wolves' defensive lapses are notable and should allow the Kings to deliver down the stretch. Home team 6-2 ATS in this series and we'll roll with Sacramento. |
|||||||
04-19-21 | Suns +3 v. Bucks | 128-127 | Win | 100 | 18 h 44 m | Show
Analysis to follow... |
|||||||
04-18-21 | Kings +9 v. Mavs | 121-107 | Win | 100 | 5 h 57 m | Show
Kings/Mavericks 7:40: Dallas most likely due for Playoff-Play-In while Sacramento on the verge of elimination from post season play altogether; as a matter of fact, Kings need to go on a 14-2 SU run to reach .500. Sacramento has lost 9 straight games yet showed promise at Phoenix in 122-114 (+12'). Dallas, on the other hand, is on an 0-4 ATS slide. Mavericks allow teams back in games on account of consistent defensive lapses; consequently, they're a money burning 5-11 ATS home favorite. Kings, 5-1 ATS in Dallas, have some scorers (Fox, Hield, Barnes) who can keep them in this one. Take the points. |
|||||||
04-17-21 | Jazz v. Lakers +8 | 115-127 | Win | 100 | 14 h 25 m | Show
Jazz/Lakers 4:40: Jazz' superstar Donovan Mitchell left last night's game with a sprained ankle. I doubt he'll be a go here. Should give the Lakers an opportunity to be competitive here. Lakers got blown out by the Jazz back on February 24th -114-89. A.D. was out that game. Lakers are holding the fort down till him and Lebron James are back. Drummond, should be a go Saturday, gives the Lakers a low post threat to help with Gobert. Lakers have alternated wins and losses over last 10 games. They're coming off a loss to the Celtics Thursday and need to improve seeding as the season winds down. Jazz 1-5 ATS in Los Angeles and may be slightly out of rhythm unrested here without their top gun (Mitchell). We'll grab the points here. |
|||||||
04-16-21 | Knicks +5 v. Mavs | 117-109 | Win | 100 | 20 h 21 m | Show
Knicks/Mavericks 9:40: Knicks on a roll (7-0 ATS run) and we're staying on them here. Randle is getting great support from his surrounding cast as someone - Burks, Rose, Barrett - is consistently stepping up off the bench or in the supporting role. Thibodeaux has his men playing great defense (#1 in NBA) and they're hitting shots. Dallas coming off an amazing last second win at Memphis as basketball magician Doncic sank an off balance 3 pointer at the buzzer. We'll look for them to be over-celebrated here. Knicks hungry and 6-1 ATS in Dallas. New York the call.  |
|||||||
04-16-21 | Pelicans v. Wizards +2 | 115-117 | Win | 100 | 18 h 19 m | Show
Pelicans/Wizards 7:10: Pelicans looked sluggish against NY on Wednesday and we'll look for a carry over effect tonight vs the heating up Wizards. Pelicans' perimeter game sluggish as their top perimeter guns are out. And they're not defending the perimeter too well either. That doesn't bode well against the electric backcourt of Washington. Beal and Westbrook playing a great stretch of ball leading a well synchronized attack. Brooks has the Wizards looking at closing in on the Playoff Play-In and need a win here. Wizards are streaky at 5-0 ATS off a 10+ point win and 5-0 ATS on 1 day rest. They're also looking to avenge earlier season 124-106 loss at New Orleans. They got them in The Verizon Center tonight. Home team in this series is 6-1 ATS. Washington the call. |
|||||||
04-15-21 | Kings v. Suns -12 | 114-122 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 28 m | Show
Kings/Suns 10:10: Going to be tough for struggling Kings to trade buckets with the red hot Suns. Kings are in the bottom tier of the NBA - defensively - allowing nearly 119 PPG. They're on an 8 game losing streak (1-7 ATS) after another disappointment last night vs Washington. They're a money burning 8-23 ATS off a SU loss and going nowhere fast. Suns, in a top playoff seed hunt, have it together and healthy. Booker, Paul and Ayton just too much for the Kings. |
|||||||
04-15-21 | Bucks v. Hawks +4.5 | 120-109 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 21 m | Show
Bucks/Hawks 7:40: Hawks are playing great ever since McMillan stepped in as interim coach following the Pierce firing. Hawks are on a 16-5 SU run and into playoff talk. Hawks had to play without leading scorer - Trae Young (calf) the last few games; however, it was a seamless transition as Goodwin filled in nicely scoring 17 and 18 points, respectively. Bogdanovic has been great and Capela has been great defensively. Hawks got the swagger and, fortunately, the bench is producing. I think it will hold up here. Bucks will not have Giannis (knee) again. Bucks got by lightweights Orlando and then Minnesota last night to keep it rolling. Middleton and Holiday are keeping it together there; however, McMillan has Atlanta playing defense and it won't be easy for the Bucks like last night's blowout. We'll take the points. |
|||||||
04-14-21 | Knicks +3 v. Pelicans | 116-106 | Win | 100 | 18 h 58 m | Show
Pelicans/Knicks 8:10: Pelicans playing a pretty good stretch. Williamson and Ingram are a dangerous duo but depth a bit thin. Don't like the fact they were up 23 at halftime on lightweight Sacramento only to have the Kings battle within 4 late. 8 games this month starting to have an effect on them. Knicks are a bit deeper and playing a really good stretch (6-0 ATS run). Pelicans, whoever, are inconsistent (1-4 ATS off an ATS win) and 0-5 ATS on Wednesdays. Knicks have covered 7 of their last 8 road tilts. They're 8-3 ATS in New Orleans. Thibodeau has the Knicks playing great defense (#1 in NBA) and will find a way to slow Zion down and outcoach Van Gundy. Take the points. |
|||||||
04-13-21 | Celtics +1.5 v. Blazers | 116-115 | Win | 100 | 21 h 3 m | Show
Celtics/Portland 10:10: Celtics picking up their game at the right time. They're on a 5-1 SU run capped by a strong comeback Sunday in Denver. Boston pulled another late comeback win battling back from 14 down to finish on a 40-8 run in a 105-87 whitewash. Tatum has been on fire and he's getting good support from a healthy and confident supporting cast. Portland, on the other hand, on a 2-4 SU slide. Lillard is struggling and they're not playing well against winning opponents as they're 0-6 ATS mark vs teams above .500 attests to that. Boston has had success in Portland winning 3 of the last 4 there. Boston the call. |
|||||||
04-12-21 | Lakers v. Knicks -3 | 96-111 | Win | 100 | 19 h 24 m | Show
Lakers/Knicks 7:40: Give credit to the Lakers, which ambushed the Nets Saturday. Drummond is turning out to be a huge pickup for them. However, Nets were not at full capacity with both Durant and Irving on limited minutes. And Lakers have not won back to back games SU since the 26th and 28th of March. Knicks playing a good stretch of hoops now - 5-0 ATS run as Randle and Barrett are working it. Knicks are MONEY as a favorite at 20-8 ATS. They're also 4-0 ATS unrested and covered 8 of last 8 as home chalk. Lakers have had trouble in NY 2-7 ATS and not good on Mondays (2-5 ATS). I don't believe the Lakers will sneak up on the Knicks tonight. |
|||||||
04-11-21 | Spurs +6 v. Mavs | 119-117 | Win | 100 | 18 h 27 m | Show
Analysis to follow... |
|||||||
04-10-21 | Rockets v. Warriors -9 | 109-125 | Win | 100 | 21 h 7 m | Show
Rockets/Warriors 10:10: Both teams coming off losing efforts yesterday. Warriors at some point are going to have to step up their level of play - particularly on the defensive end - if they want to make the post-season. They currently sit outside on the fringe in qualifying for a playoff spot and need to blow out makeshift, limited talent teams like Houston. Warriors are relatively healthy with Curry, Green, Wiggins - are you kidding me? - underachieving. Warriors do deliver vs teams under .400 on the road playing at Golden State at 8-2 ATS. With a major talent and coaching disparity, look for Golden State to blow this one open. |
|||||||
04-08-21 | Suns v. Clippers -6 | 103-113 | Win | 100 | 7 h 14 m | Show
Suns/Clippers 10:10: I was on the Suns (+2) last night and they delivered in OT. Tonight, I'm fading them off that emotional win. Clippers are coming on strong (2-0 SU/ATS) after an expected slip up vs Denver. Leonard and George establishing a nice rhythm while Beverly is back in the fray to solidify a solid lineup. Suns just 1-8 ATS in Los Angeles while the Clippers have covered 8 of their last 10 at home. Suns just don't have the recovery time (mentally and physically) to recharge for tonight. Clippers nipping at the heels of the Suns in the Pacific and need to secure a win here to move up a game in the division. Lay the points. |
|||||||
04-07-21 | Jazz v. Suns +2 | 113-117 | Win | 100 | 20 h 56 m | Show
Jazz/Suns 10:10: Both of these teams at the top of the tier in standings and ATS. However, Jazz slipping into a 1-3 ATS funk. Coming off a poor shooting perimeter game in Dallas on Monday where Jazz went 12 of 44. Jazz just 8-18-2 ATS following a SU loss. Phoenix Big 3 - Booker, Paul and Ayton in great rhythm now. The Suns sport a 5-2 ATS mark as a home dog and covered the last 3 in this series. We'll roll with Phoenix. |
|||||||
04-06-21 | 76ers v. Celtics +1 | 106-96 | Loss | -105 | 18 h 51 m | Show
76ers/Celtics 7:40: Celtics starting to play better, coming off two solid outings as Tatum, Smart, Walker, Brown and even center Williams stepping up his play; moreover, newly acquired Fournier, after a rough start, came on strong last two games off the bench as a big contributor. Celtics eager to avenge a pair of mid January defeats at Philadelphia. Boston, 19-7 ATS as a home dog, catching the Sixers' Embiid in not his greatest form. Embiid dominated in those January games; however, he's working his way back after an extended injury and limited in floor time. Celtics the call. |
|||||||
04-05-21 | Baylor +4.5 v. Gonzaga | 86-70 | Win | 100 | 20 h 28 m | Show
Baylor/Gonzaga 9:20: Baylor is coming off a dominating clinic on both ends of the floor against a very good Houston team; meanwhile, Gonzaga escaped in OT in what will be remembered as one of the great, if not the greatest, Final Four games ever. The emotional turnaround may be a bit hard to bounce back from for the Bulldogs after that epic clash. It was an old school 15 round slugfest with plenty of haymakers. Suggs, Timme, Kispert are prime timers and surely will show up tonight; however, anything after that huge win is anticlimactic. Surely, Coach Few is capable of flipping the script with laser focus on Baylor; however, the deep Baylor Bears should be a bit more fresh after their demolition of Houston. Baylor might be a bit undersized against Timme down low but has a few big bodies to throw at him with Thamba and Mayer. And I realize Suggs is a big time performer but Defensive Player of the Year - Davion Mitchell - can harass him enough to disrupt the Zags' rhythm a bit. And keep in mind that the Bears are the #1 three point shooting team in the nation at a ridiculous 43% clip. Bears have the defensive rhythm established and their offense is back to what it was earlier this season on their big run. We'll take the points with Baylor. |
|||||||
04-03-21 | UCLA v. Gonzaga -14 | 90-93 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 26 m | Show
UCLA/Gonzaga 8:34: UCLA would love to turn this into a grind it out affair like they did against Michigan. Juzang was amazing in the halfcourt; Campbell had his moments on switches and even toasted 7'1" Dickinson. And there was great supporting help; however, Gonzaga has proved to be another animal with immense talent that can turn it up on command. Timme and Suggs looked unstoppable and slipped it into another gear against a very good Trojans team. Gonzaga sports the #1 offense in the nation and no matter how Cronin draws it up, his hard working team won't be able to limit the talent of Gonzaga. Gonzaga has turned up defensive intensity, forcing turnovers and breaking to basket. Their finishing level is tops in the nation. We'll lay the wood with a laser focused Bulldogs team. |
|||||||
04-03-21 | Houston +5 v. Baylor | 59-78 | Loss | -109 | 15 h 45 m | Show
Houston/Baylor 5:14: Rode Baylor throughout this tourney but will grab the points here with Houston. Cougars are a stifling defensive team (#2 nationally) that force teams in to doing bad things. Sure, Baylor has +4 turnover margin in the NCAA Tournament and forced nearly 17; however, Houston manages the ball well and, although go into shooting slumps, can crash the boards with the best of them. And that is Baylor's weakness. They're 8th in the Big 12 in defensive rebounds and the lower tier nationally. If Houston can limit Baylor in offensive production, control the boards, and limit turnovers, Cougars can deliver. It was the prescription Kansas used to beat them February 27th and we'll look for savvy veteran Coach Sampson to employ a similar strategy. Take the points. |
|||||||
04-02-21 | Thunder v. Suns -12.5 | 103-140 | Win | 100 | 20 h 25 m | Show
OKC/Phoenix 10:10: OKC coming off a big win over struggling Toronto on Wednesday. Thunder 4-10 ATS after scoring 100+ and 1-5 ATS on 1 day rest. The Thunder are able to beat lightweights or a depleted heavyweight occasionally; as a matter of fact, they dispatched the Suns in Phoenix back on January 27th. It should be duly noted though that the Suns were without their top gun Devin Booker that night. When Chris Paul is forced to be the go-to-scorer, the Suns struggle. Paul is a facilitator and Booker is the natural scorer. Throw in Ayton down low and energy driven wily veteran Crowder and the Suns are a legitimate contender. Suns 13-5 ATS at home, 5-0 ATS on Friday and can close as a favorite (19-7 ATS). Suns the call. |
|||||||
04-01-21 | Nuggets -1.5 v. Clippers | 101-94 | Win | 100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
Nuggets/Clippers 10:10: Both teams rolling but Clippers dealing with injuries. George, Beverly, Ibaka, Morris (calf), and the inability to get Rondo (thigh) on floor will make it difficult to compete four quarters with a determined Nuggets team that's eager to avenge its Christmas day -121-108 loss. Lue's depleted bench showed Tuesday vs lightweight Orlando - allowing them to roll in the second half. Nuggets are healthy, Jokic playing at an MVP level, Murray - hitting stride, and when Porter is on his game - currently is- Nuggets hard to stop. In addition, Nuggets feeling good going forward with addition of Gordon and McGee which will add versatility to their defense. Nuggets nipping at the heels of the Clippers in the standings and need this one. Nuggets covered 5 of the last 7 in this series and I'm riding them here. Nuggets the call. |
|||||||
03-31-21 | Knicks -3.5 v. Wolves | 101-102 | Loss | -109 | 18 h 14 m | Show
03-30-21 | UCLA v. Michigan -6.5 | 51-49 | Loss | -109 | 19 h 1 m | Show
UCLA/Michigan 9:57: At first glance, UCLA, my choice vs Alabama, would be the call here; after all, they took down Michigan State in OT in the First Four. Proceeded to dispatch BYU and blasted ACU. Then found a way to hang with analysts favorite pick - Alabama before crushing them in OT. The fact of the matter is that Alabama couldn't make free throws. The Crimson Tide was a ridiculously bad 11 of 25 from the charity stripe which ultimately cost them the game. Meanwhile, Michigan beat up what many analysts agreed was the best Florida State team ever! And they did it without one of their stars - Livers (Out for season). Wolverines' floor leader Smith was phenomenal, Brown was strong off the bench while Austin Davis, Wagner, Dickinson working backdoor cuts and pick and roll to perfection. Can't see UCLA beating this tough and gritty team on the glass. And Michigan is knocking down their free throws at a 76% clip. We'll roll with Michigan again. |
|||||||
03-30-21 | USC +9 v. Gonzaga | Top | 66-85 | Loss | -115 | 17 h 59 m | Show |
USC/Gonzaga 7:15: Gonzaga is surely a talented team loaded with scorers. Kispert, Suggs, Timme and Ayayi can light it up on any given evening; however, the athletic Mobley brothers don't have to take a backseat to anybody. Evan has been a beast most of the season and his brother - Isaiah- elevated his game in the NCAA Tournament; moreover, Trojans getting great backcourt play from Eddy and White. PAC 12 continues to be a money maker in this tournament - a testament to how strong this conference is. For Gonzaga, they're toying with the lightweights for most of the regular season and it could cost them here. These PAC 12 teams are underrated in their defense and USC is one of those. The 64.1 PPG the Trojans allow - good for 38th in the nation - doesn't reflect how good defensively USC is. We'll take the points with the Trojans! |
|||||||
03-29-21 | Arkansas v. Baylor -7.5 | 72-81 | Win | 100 | 19 h 25 m | Show
Arkansas/Baylor 9:57: Arkansas has been fortunate to come back from double-digits in a number of games including its 12 point second half deficit to Oral Roberts on Saturday. The Hogs utilized their size by going to the paint and cleaned up the glass on the smaller Golden Eagles in the second half. This time, however, the Hogs will have their work cut out for them vs the long, athletic Bears. Bears, the #1 three point shooting team in the nation (42.9%), had an extreme off day vs a very well coached and disciplined Villanova team. Bears shot a miserable 15.5% from beyond the arc yet won and covered! Coach Drew had the Bears attack the rim in the second half and despite a sluggish outing from leading scorer Jared Butler, Mitchell and Flagler elevated their game to deliver the goods. In addition, the Bears turned up the defensive intensity to force turnovers and get out and run. Baylor not only can ring up points (#3 in nation), they can lock down in critical moments defensively. Arkansas should have trouble finding their rhythm attacking the glass vs the swift Bears' defense. Baylor the call. |
|||||||
03-29-21 | Oregon State +8 v. Houston | 61-67 | Win | 100 | 17 h 25 m | Show
Oregon State/Houston 7:15: Oregon State is having the most impressive run of the year. A team predicted to finish 12th in their league has beaten or avenged every loss in their conference, including USC, UCLA, Oregon! Given that the PAC 12 has established itself as the premier NCAA Tournament conference, that's impressive! Houston is pretty dominant itself and Sampson is an excellent teacher; however, the Cougars are expending tremendous energy each game to fight to stay alive; meanwhile, the Beavers displayed patience and a brilliant combination of zone/man defense to dismantle a very good Loyola-Chicago team. Now they face the #2 defense in the nation and I'm not betting against them. Oregon State's compiled a 6-0 ATS mark as a dog and 13-3-1 ATS vs teams above .500. Ethan Thompson is getting great support from clutch shooting of Lucas and the monster inside game of Alatishe. I'm grabbing the points. |
|||||||
03-28-21 | Oregon +2 v. USC | Top | 68-82 | Loss | -106 | 18 h 29 m | Show |
Oregon/USC 9:45: PAC 12 turning out to be the strongest conference in this tournament and both of these teams capable of being a Final Four team. And both head coaches are excellent tournament coaches; however, we'll roll with Oregon and Dana Altman. The Ducks were throttled by USC 72-58 in Southern California on February 22nd. The Ducks have avenged every conference loss (*only played WSU once this season) including Colorado and Oregon State. Ducks have a well balanced team and solid perimeter shooters (38%). Richardson, Figueroa are great in supporting leading scorer Duarte. And Rutgers transfer Omoruyi delivers the physicality they need. They'll need to be at their best for Evan Mobley is dangerous and his brother Isaiah is stepping up his game. We'll bet the Ducks deliver. They're 5-0 as a neutral court dog and 10-1 ATS as an NCAA Tournament dog! |
|||||||
03-28-21 | UCLA +6.5 v. Alabama | 88-78 | Win | 102 | 15 h 24 m | Show
UCLA/Alabama 7:15: Good defensive teams that slowed down Alabama had success against them this season. Clemson, Missouri, Oklahoma instituted a winning formula in slowing down the Tide. UCLA's HC Cronin is a good defensive coach and surely will have his men slow down the Tide and force them to play from the half court to allow the Bruins to lock in defensively. Juzang and company have been a scrappy bunch - coming from double-digits behind in the First Four game vs Michigan State and easily dispatching BYU and ACU. UCLA a good momentum team under Cronin while Alabama a dud as an NCAA Tournament favorite 1-5 ATS. UCLA the call. |
|||||||
03-28-21 | Florida State v. Michigan -2 | 58-76 | Win | 100 | 14 h 27 m | Show
Florida State/Michigan 5:00: Despite the loss of Livers, I still like Michigan here. They still have what it takes to be a Final Four team. Brooks is stepping up his game to fill the void Livers left. Dickinson has been a beast in the paint all season, while Wagner and Smith and, at times - Brown, serve great in the supporting role on both ends of the court. Wolves with a strong 12-4-2 ATS mark as an NCAA Tournament favorite, and Juwan Howard should help continue to add to that strong trend. |
|||||||
03-28-21 | Creighton v. Gonzaga -13 | 65-83 | Win | 100 | 12 h 50 m | Show
Creighton/Gonzaga 2:10:Â Sure, pressure on Gonzaga - which is the overall favorite to win this tournament. And they've surely disappointed in previous NCAAs; however, not today. This Gonzaga team is the most talented ever. They drop nearly 93 PPG and should overwhelm a good but not great Creighton team. Bulldogs 5-1 ATS on a neutral floor and 2-0 SU/ATS in this series with double digit wins in 2017 and 2018. Gonzaga should be focused here and roll. |
|||||||
03-28-21 | Mississippi State +4 v. Memphis | 64-77 | Loss | -108 | 11 h 35 m | Show
Mississippi State/Memphis Noon: Like the value with the Bulldogs. Miss State - not a great shooting team but gelling under well schooled veteran tournament coach Ben Howland. Molinar and Stewart stepped up their game yesterday scoring 25 and 23 points, respectively. And they did it against a good LA Tech team. The Bulldogs, 4-1 ATS as a dog, are battle tested having three wins over NCAA Tournament teams - North Texas, Missouri and Florida. Memphis, which blew out a good Colorado State team yesterday, yet I'm still not sold. Tigers did have one win over a NCAA Tournament team - Wichita State; however, they failed twice to close out Elite 8 - Houston - not an easy task, but nevertheless not a closer. And getting a few buckets with the tough defense and strong rebounding Bulldogs which will try hard to slow this game down to a methodical half court game, we'll take. |
|||||||
03-27-21 | Oral Roberts v. Arkansas -11 | Top | 70-72 | Loss | -115 | 16 h 20 m | Show |
Oral Roberts/Arkansas 7:25: No #15 seed has ever advanced to the Elite 8 and I don't see it happening here. These teams met earlier this season. Oral Roberts surprisingly jumped all over the Hogs before Justin Smith and Moody elevated their game significantly. The Hogs ended up dominating the glass to the tune of a 58-32 advantage. We'll look for Musselman to work a similar strategy in the low post but earlier this time. The Golden Eagles managed to cover the 19' point spread back on December 20th but now get a measly 11 points. Arkansas clearly the more talented team and should demonstrate that tonight. |
|||||||
03-27-21 | Villanova v. Baylor -7.5 | 51-62 | Win | 100 | 15 h 31 m | Show
Villanova/Baylor 5:15: Villanova doing a bang up job but now face a very talented and deep Bears team. Without Gillespie (season ending injury), Bears have the significant edge. Winthrop and North Texas are good teams the Wildcats dispatched but the Bears are a different animal. And Baylor is showing signs of elevated tournament basketball. Baylor the call. |
|||||||
03-27-21 | Oregon State +7 v. Loyola-Chicago | 65-58 | Win | 100 | 48 h 18 m | Show
Oregon State/Loyola-Chicago 2:40: Prior to the season, Oregon State was expected to finish last in the PAC 12 by most experts. Only Wayne Tinkle and his Beavers believed they could be a tournament team; consequently, Oregon State rolled to the Sweet 16 with an impressive 20-9 ATS mark! They're disrespected here vs Loyola-Chicago. Sure, the Ramblers rolled through #1 seed Illinois and Porter Moser will surely have his boys prepared for this matchup. Illinois Chicago's offense works through 6'9" Krutwig. He's a beast and his surrounding cast is unselfish and relentless; however, Oregon State plays is an underrated defensive team with an offense that is clicking in the post-season. Silva is an underrated center and Ethan Thompson is a consistent double-digit scorer with a good supporting cast. We'll take the points. |
|||||||
03-25-21 | Louisiana Tech v. Western Kentucky +1 | 72-65 | Loss | -110 | 20 h 14 m | Show
Louisiana Tech/Western Kentucky 10:00: These teams played on January 8th and 9th with both teams splitting wins in tight games. Rick Stansberry, who coaches WKY, molded some really good Mississippi State teams from 1998 to 2012 in which he took the Bulldogs to 12 post-season trips including 5 NCAA Tournaments. He has a veteran group that's played together a few seasons now. 6'11" Bassey is a dominant big man with a solid group of perimeter shooters and a good floor leader in McKnight. Stansberry's prep should decide the winner here. Western Kentucky the call. |
|||||||
03-24-21 | Cavs v. Bulls -5.5 | 103-94 | Loss | -105 | 18 h 6 m | Show
Cavaliers/Bulls 8:10: Bulls bounce off losses well under Donovan at 8-2 ATS. And they play the favorite role well at 6-2 ATS. Bulls were blown out at home vs Utah on Monday - the second of back-to-back games. However, Cavaliers pale in comparison with the Jazz. Cavaliers sport the 30th ranked offense, poor on the road - 5-16 ATS, and lost 5 of their last 7 dog roles. Bulls 11-4 ATS at home vs a team under .500. Donovan doing a solid job bringing Bulls back to respectability and we'll roll with them here. |

03-22-21 | Oregon +5.5 v. Iowa | Top | 95-80 | Win | 100 | 10 h 13 m | Show |
Oregon/Iowa 12:10: PAC 12 now undefeated in NCAA Tournament. Oregon is clearly a contender and a solid tournament team; as a matter of fact, Ducks 5-0-1 ATS last 6 in NCAAs. They're 13-3 ATS on a neutral floor and covered last 6 as a dog. Sure, the Ducks snuck in by virtue of default on VCU (Covid19). I'm sure well versed tournament coach Dana Altman made the best use of the Ducks extended time. The Ducks have some veteran players, including Rutgers transfer Omoruyi and Duarte. Also NCAA Tournament experience with G Richardson and St. John's transfer Figueroa. Sure Garza is a force and the Hawkeyes are offensively prolific; however, defensively, give up too many points and just 0-3-2 ATS on a neutral floor. We'll grab the points with the red hot PAC 12. |
|||||||

03-21-21 | Wisconsin v. Baylor -6.5 | 63-76 | Win | 100 | 14 h 33 m | Show
Wisconsin/Baylor 2:40: Baylor just too potent for Wisconsin to stay with. Badgers' Davidson, who averages just around 9 PPG on the year, went off for 29 vs North Carolina. Highly unlikely he's on against Baylor. Badgers' Trice is the only consistent scorer for Wisconsin. Baylor, however, has a handful of players scoring double digits yet play solid defense too (allow 65.6 PPG). Baylor the call. |
|||||||
03-20-21 | Iona +17 v. Alabama | 55-68 | Win | 100 | 15 h 40 m | Show
Iona/Alabama 4:00: If any coach can do the impossible, Rick Pitino may be a guy to bet on. Pitino, who is taking his 5th different team to the NCAA Tournament, came off a Greek Cup Championship before taking his #9 Gaels to victory in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship for the automatic NCAA entry. He has some talent that can run the floor; after all, he'll need it against an athletic and talented Crimson Tide team. Gaels are 9-0-1 ATS when it scores more than 69.8 points in a game. They're 5-0-1 ATS on a neutral floor and 8-1 ATS as a dog. Given extra Pitino prep time, don't count the legendary coach out. We'll roll with Isaiah Ross and company and the points. |
|||||||
03-20-21 | UC-Santa Barbara +7.5 v. Creighton | Top | 62-63 | Win | 100 | 13 h 19 m | Show |
UCSB/Creighton 3:30: Gauchos another veteran tournament team with 3 seniors and 2 juniors including Big West Player of the Year - McLaughlin. Gauchos' HC Pasternack has his men playing great defense and running an efficient offense. They're 13-3 ATS vs teams above .500 and 5-1 ATS vs teams above .600. Blue Jays a disappointing 1-10-1 ATS in the NCAA Tournament and 1-5 ATS as an NCAA Tournament favorite. UCSB the call. |
|||||||
03-20-21 | St Bonaventure +2 v. LSU | Top | 61-76 | Loss | -112 | 13 h 8 m | Show |
Bonnies/Tigers 1:45: Bonnies a veteran team that's played together for years and finally reaping the rewards. St. Bonaventure won the Atlantic 10 regular season title and conference tournament title - first time ever in history of program. Mark Schmidt is an excellent coach and a solid tournament coach as evidenced by his 10-1 ATS mark on a neutral floor. Bonnies play great defense, rebound and take care of the ball well. They have solid perimeter shooters and Lofton and defensive stopper Osunniyi are a dangerous outside in combination. LSU can score but defensively flawed. And just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 NCAAs. |
|||||||
03-19-21 | Winthrop +6.5 v. Villanova | 63-73 | Loss | -100 | 19 h 4 m | Show
Winthrop/Villanova 9:57: Trouble spot for three time NCAA Champion Villanova. Wildcats, without Gillespie (ACL), should have trouble with a dangerous Winthrop squad. Winthrop spreads the floor and can deliver with matchup nightmare 6'7" Vaudrin who is Big South P.O.Y. and tournament MVP. Take the points. |
|||||||
03-19-21 | Syracuse v. San Diego State -3 | 78-62 | Loss | -105 | 19 h 59 m | Show
Syracuse/San Diego State/Syracuse 9:40: SDS the real deal. Beat UCLA early in the season and nearly swept through the MWC if it weren't for a defensively stout Utah State team and a tournament bound Colorado State team. The Aztecs did manage to avenge both losses and consistent in their solid play on both ends of the floor. Syracuse zone won't have great answers for a dominant inside out Aztecs' game with Mountain West P.O.Y. Mitchell and sharp shooter Schakel who knocks it down from the perimeter at a staggering 46.7%. San Diego State the call. |
|||||||
03-19-21 | Wisconsin v. North Carolina -1.5 | 85-62 | Loss | -108 | 17 h 40 m | Show
Wisconsin/North Carolina 7:10: Not sold on Wisconsin which goes into offensive lapses because of no big time playmaker. Badgers lost 4 of their last 5 games down stretch. North Carolina, however, playing a good stretch of basketball and has shooters - 6 players average 8+ PPG including top scorer Bacot, and a deep bench. NC 4-0-1 ATS on a neutral floor as a favorite whereas the Badgers 0-3-1 ATS on a neutral floor and just 1-6 ATS vs teams above .600. Roy Williams, a veteran tournament coach, will have them ready and rolling. |
|||||||
03-19-21 | Colgate +9 v. Arkansas | 68-85 | Loss | -109 | 10 h 26 m | Show
Colgate/Arkansas 12:45: Colgate averages nearly 86 PPG yet respectable defensively. Of course, they'll need to make stops against Moses Moody and company. They Raiders have a star of their own in Jordan Burns who can scorch the net from the perimeter and a big man in Keegan Records who can run the floor. Colgate has a shooters chance in this one and we'll take the points. |
|||||||
03-18-21 | UCLA v. Michigan State -2 | 86-80 | Loss | -107 | 9 h 5 m | Show
UCLA/Michigan State 9:57: PAC 12 appears to be down a notch this year and UCLA should have trouble here. Bruins failed to beat OSU back on Dec 19th and finished on an 0-3 SU slide. Cronin is a good coach and has the program going in the right direction; however, Michigan State, which is having a bad year, is battle tested banging in the Big 10 and winning some notable games (Illinois & Michigan). The Spartans struggle offensively vs good defensive teams and I can't give UCLA that distinction. Aaron Henry is their playmaker and we'll look for the Spartans to deliver. |
|||||||
03-18-21 | Drake v. Wichita State +2.5 | 53-52 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show
Drake/Wichita State 6:27: Both teams are solid and capable of making a run in this tournament; however, we'll go with the gritty Shockers. Shockers' first year head coach - Isaac Brown - did a great job keeping this team playing at a high level after the firing of their legendary coach - Marshall. Shockers won the AAC Title including knocking off #7 Houston. Shockers know their roll and execute well. Gilbert does a nice job as the floor leader, Etienne (AAC Co-P.O.Y.) great at finding ways to score, and Dexter Dennis a key defensive stopper lead a determined team. Shockers are 9-2 ATS in games decided by 5 points or less, and 5-0-1 ATS vs teams above .600. The Bulldogs are equally dangerous. Play great defense and find ways to score. They did, however, lose their top two scorers Hemphill (questionable) and Penn (out) with foot injuries. With Wichita State at 15-5-1 ATS as a dog, we'll grab the points. |
|||||||
03-17-21 | Heat -2 v. Grizzlies | 85-89 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 43 m | Show
Heat/Grizzlies 9:05: Heat playing well (11-1 SU/9-3 ATS) and healthy; consequently, they're gelling on both ends of the floor. Adebayo (knee) looked solid last night vs Cleveland after his long layoff. And defensively, they're locking down - allowing a league low 44.3% from the floor. Heat play well unrested at 5-1 ATS and covered 5 of last 6 in series. Grizzlies off two straight losses will have a rough night. |
|||||||
03-15-21 | Lakers v. Warriors +3 | 128-97 | Loss | -110 | 21 h 45 m | Show
Lakers/Warriors 10:35: This series has alternated spread wins and losses over the last 10 games. Most recent, Lakers avenged their 115-113 January 18th loss with a convincing 117-91 route at Los Angeles on February 28th. Tonight, the Lakers, short handed without Gasol, A.D. and Caruso, head back to Golden State where the Warriors polished off the Jazz on Sunday. Lakers 0-4 ATS in their last 4 on the road vs a team with home winning % above .600. Warriors covered the last 4 at home and should deliver here. |
|||||||
03-14-21 | VCU v. St Bonaventure -2.5 | 65-74 | Win | 100 | 11 h 45 m | Show
VCU/St. Bonaventure 1:00: This season, these teams split games each winning on their home floor; Bonnies however, covered both games. St. Bonaventure has the #7 defense in the nation and they're living up that. Yesterday, they shut down a pretty good offensive team (SLU) in holding them to 23 points below their season average. Bonnies play well on a neutral floor (6-0 ATS) and 4-0 ATS as a neutral floor favorite. Moreover, they run a productive four guard offense with Adaway, Holmes, Welch and Lofton. And they have a dominant big man in 6'10" Osunniyi who's a force on both ends of the floor. Well schooled Bonnies' HC Schmidt will surely have a good plan on how to limit "Bones" Hyland. Bonnies lost this conference championship in 2019 but that experience will carry over to a win and cover today. |
|||||||
03-13-21 | Memphis +7.5 v. Houston | Top | 74-76 | Win | 100 | 16 h 2 m | Show |
Memphis/Houston 5:30: After an underachieving start of the season, Memphis found their rhythm in late January going on a 9-1 ATS tear. They're still 0-2 in Quad 1 games so they're on the bubble and will need a win here to secure an NCAA Tournament invite. Tigers gave #7 Houston a major run for their money in Houston on March 7th - losing on a half court buzzer beater. The Tigers will get a second chance and I think they'll make the best of it. Memphis is deep in talent with Jeffries, Williams, Ellis, Quinones and may even have Lomax (ankle) back today. We'll grab the points with the Tigers. |

03-12-21 | Oklahoma State +9 v. Baylor | 83-74 | Win | 100 | 3 h 51 m | Show
Oklahoma State/Baylor 6:30: Oklahoma State on a nice roll (7-0 ATS run) and can create a better seeding position in the NCAAs with a win here. As for Baylor, a red hot roll is now simmering to a lukewarm underwhelming 3-5 ATS slide. Baylor, the #2 team in the NCAA, is locked in a #1 seeding position for the NCAAs and focused on winning the bigger prize - NCAAs. The Cowboys did lose both games to the Bears this year; however, covered most recent one and was clearly in the game in the first matchup despite the absence of their superstar - Cade Cunningham. Baylor finished them off with a late run in that game. With Cunningham back and good support from his mates, we'll grab the generous amount of points with the Cowboys - who have that extra incentive to improve NCAA Tournament seeding. |

03-11-21 | Mississippi State +3.5 v. Kentucky | 74-73 | Win | 100 | 12 h 11 m | Show
Mississippi State/Kentucky Noon: Heavy action on Kentucky; after all, Kentucky has been a perennial Big Dance team and dominated the SEC Tournament under Calipari; however, this is not one of Kentucky's usual NBA loaded one and done teams. The Wildcats are not much better offensive team (70.3 PPG) than the Bulldogs (69.4 PPG). Moreover, Ben Howland's bunch is better defensively and on the boards than Kentucky. Both teams will need to win this tournament to advance and we'll grab Miss State. Ben Howland is looking to avenge January 2nd 75-73 Double OT loss. And remember, Howland is a very good tournament coach taking four teams to the NCAA Tournament. His old Pitt teams to a pair of Sweet 16s and his old UCLA teams to two Final Fours and the Runner Up in 05-06. Rebounding, defense and toughness is how he built those teams and this Mississippi State team resembles that pattern. Stewart Jr. and Tolu Smith are a good outside in combination with energetic supporting players. Miss State the call. |
|||||||
03-11-21 | Michigan State +1.5 v. Maryland | 57-68 | Loss | -105 | 12 h 29 m | Show
Michigan State/Maryland 11:30: Michigan State should be more prepared to deal with the stifling defense of Maryland. February 28th, the Terrapins flustered Langford (3 of 13/2 of 8) and Henry (4 of 16/ 0 of 4) into their worst games of the season. We'll look for well schooled Michigan State Head Coach - Izzo to make the needed adjustments to spring his top guns into open looks. The Spartans got revenge on Michigan and should deliver vs Maryland to strengthen their seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Offensively challenged MD is on an 0-2 slide since their win over Michigan State. Spartans the call. |
|||||||
03-10-21 | Texas A&M +1.5 v. Vanderbilt | 68-79 | Loss | -109 | 17 h 6 m | Show
Texas A&M/Vanderbilt 7:00: Offensively challenged A&M gradually getting better under Buzz Williams. Jackson, Miller and Flagg not ready to go home yet. As for Vanderbilt, do all Pippen Jr. left with limited supporting help now that Disu (15 PPG/9.2 RPG) is out. We'll grab A&M. |
|||||||
03-10-21 | Iona -1.5 v. Siena | 55-52 | Win | 100 | 16 h 59 m | Show
Iona/Sienna 5:00: Sienna is 0-10 in this tournament vs Iona and we'll stay on Iona. The Gaels choked out Quinnipiac, holding the Bobcats to 28% from the field. Of course Maciariello has turned Sienna around into the class of the league. Pickett and Camper are a dangerous veteran duo. Nevertheless, Pitino has Iona playing like a serious contender and his tournament experience will have them well prepared. |
|||||||
03-09-21 | Iona -6 v. Quinnipiac | 72-48 | Win | 100 | 16 h 8 m | Show
Iona/Quinnipiac 5:00: Quinnipiac got the best of Iona back on February 17th 74-70. The difference maker was the Bobcats' Tyrese Williams got to the free throw line 11 times converting on 10 en-route to a 21 point game. Tonight, look for Pitino have his boys shut down lanes and force the Bobcats to beat them from the perimeter where they shoot just 32.7%. The Gaels need better support for Isaiah Ross. Gist needs to step up his game to add to strong backcourt play. We'll bet on that. Iona the call. |
|||||||
03-09-21 | Miami-FL +4 v. Pittsburgh | 79-73 | Win | 100 | 12 h 58 m | Show
Miami-Fla/Pittsburgh 2:00: Both teams have lost 6 of the last 7 games but we'll take the points with the Hurricanes. Not buying in to Pittsburgh which has a few key cogs in the transfer portal; as a matter of fact, Toney and Johnson (2 of Pitt's top 3 scorers) were an integral part of defeating the Hurricanes 70-55 on December 16th. The Panthers are left with a big time player in 6'6" F Champagnie; however, his supporting cast is limited. On the other hand, Larranaga is equipped with a pretty good backcourt in Wong and McGusty and some interior size. Never underestimate the genius of Coach Larranaga who took an under the radar George Mason team in 2005-06 to the Final Four. We'll take the points here. |
|||||||
03-07-21 | Texas Tech +8 v. Baylor | 73-88 | Loss | -105 | 3 h 58 m | Show
Texas Tech/Baylor 4:00: Both teams locked in their seeding for the conference tournament so no major incentive; however, TT, short on talent, may be eager to keep winning momentum (3 game win streak) and exact revenge from January 16th home loss; at the same time, a win for the Red Raiders could give them more leverage on higher seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Bears 0-5 ATS at home vs team with winning road record. With on of the best coaches in the Big 12 (Beard) and a clutch shooter in McClung, Tech has a fighting chance. |

03-04-21 | St. Joe's +3 v. Massachusetts | 66-100 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 46 m | Show
St. Joe's/U Mass 1:00: Staying on St. Joseph's after delivering their 4th straight win SU/ATS. Yesterday, got it done the A-10 First Round over LaSalle. Of course, they'll need to run the table to draw an automatic to The Big Dance. Don't count the Hawks out yet. They're a scrappy bunch and well coached. They've made dramatic progress since November. On the other hand, Minutemen are falling flat on a 1-4 ATS slide. They've had Covid19 issues throughout the season and limited in games with delays, etc. We'll take the hot Hawks. |
|||||||
03-04-21 | Duquesne +5.5 v. Richmond | 67-62 | Win | 100 | 9 h 20 m | Show
Duquesne/Richmond 11:00: Dukes on a nice 7-1 ATS run and we're riding them here. HC Dambrot overdue to get his first A-10 post-season win. At Akron, he went 27-10 in the MAC Tournament and went to 9 MAC Championships. He has one of his better Duquesne teams as Tavian Dunn-Martin and Marcus Weathers lead the charge. Richmond struggled down the stretch as 6'10" Golden broke his finger and leading scorer Francis had back issues. Duquesne played Richmond tough (covered) at The Robins Center and should do well at the Stuart C. Siegel Center this morning. Dukes comfortable playing the morning because they've practicing all season in the mornings. Duquesne the call. |

03-03-21 | St. Joe's -1.5 v. La Salle | 72-66 | Win | 100 | 10 h 56 m | Show
03-02-21 | Wisconsin v. Purdue -1.5 | Top | 69-73 | Win | 100 | 6 h 6 m | Show |
Wisconsin/Purdue 9:00: Wisconsin on a 1-3 SU/ATS slide while Purdue closing down the stretch strong (3-0 SU/ATS run). Badgers have struggled on the offensive end most of the season while Trice and Potter struggle to find the needed offensive support. Sure, their defense is solid but will have a tough time manufacturing an offense as Painter has Purdue tightening the bolts defensively. The Boilermakers allowed just 58.3 PPG over their last 3 conference games. Purdue, 9-1 at home, should deliver the goods here. |

03-02-21 | Duke +1.5 v. Georgia Tech | 77-81 | Loss | -103 | 5 h 21 m | Show
Duke/Georgia Tech 8:00: Duke dangerous in this role: 10-1 ATS on the road following 3 or more home games; moreover, getting Duke as a dog off a loss is a 72% play over the last decade under Coach K. We'll look for Hurt to get the needed support here and play with a frenetic intensity that a Coach K team plays with following a loss. |

03-02-21 | Illinois v. Michigan -6.5 | 76-53 | Loss | -103 | 5 h 45 m | Show
Illinois/Michigan 7:00: One of the keys to Michigan's success this year is freshman matchup nightmare - Dickinson. He is as dominant of a big man as anyone in the NCAA. If you dispute that, ask Luka Garza of Iowa who was the reigning king of big men of the Big 10 until taking on Michigan - where he struggled in perhaps his worst full game of the season. And Michigan's guards Wagner and Livers make it extremely difficult on foes to stop the Wolverines' machine when it gets rolling. Moreover, they're defense is improving as the season progresses. Illinois' HC Underwood will most likely sit top gun Dosunmu (nose) to get him ready for tourneys. Michigan the call. |
|||||||
03-02-21 | Baylor v. West Virginia +4 | 94-89 | Loss | -108 | 4 h 47 m | Show
Baylor/West Virginia 5:00: West Virginia taking on Baylor at a good time. The Mountaineers played a very good stretch of basketball in February on a 5-1 SU/ATS run; only loss - in OT to Oklahoma. Mounties are 4-1 ATS vs AP Top 25 ranked teams. As for Baylor, they appeared unstoppable until a sluggish performance on 2/23 vs lightweight ISU in which they snuck by 77-72 as a big chalk. They followed that up on the 27th with a blowout 71-58 loss at Kansas. Huggins has tightened the bolts defensively for his team and has McBride and Culver feeling comfortable offensively. WV the call. |
|||||||
03-01-21 | Jazz -6.5 v. Pelicans | 124-129 | Loss | -107 | 19 h 30 m | Show
Jazz/Pelicans 8:05: Jazz bringing it every night while Van Gundy's boys bring it now and then. Van Gundy preaches defense then complains about it; as a result, Pelicans allow 115.7 PPG - bottom tier in the NBA. Snyder teaches defense and reinforces; as a result, Utah one of the top defensive teams in the NBA. Offensively, Pelicans try to outscore opponents but usually run out of gas while Snyder's bunch is ramped up to 116.2 PPG (#3 in NBA). Chemistry great on both sides of the court as Mitchell, Gobert are a tough combo to stop. And even if Mike Conley can't go, Jazz confident in Ingles to deliver. Jazz well organized and all on same page. That's why the Jazz are on a 22-4 ATS run and 2-0 SU/ATS in this series this season. Make that 3-0 SU/ATS. |

02-28-21 | Michigan State +2.5 v. Maryland | 55-73 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 2 m | Show
Michigan State/Maryland 2:00: Both teams establishing momentum for what was deemed an improbable birth to the NCAA Tournament about a week ago. Michigan State turned in its best week of basketball by starting off Saturday with a road win at Indiana, then Tuesday at home upsetting #5 Illinois, and Thursday knocking off #4 Ohio State. In the process, MSU vaulted to #69 with a legitimate opportunity to make the NCAA Tourney with a win today. In the meantime, MD also on the cusp of making the tourney with a win here. They've won 4 straight but haven't played since last Sunday. MD, a consistent very good defensive team for much of the season yet offensively challenged. Michigan State's resurrection had much to do with the emergence of Aaron Henry (21.7 PPG during win streak). We'll grab the momentum of the Spartans, which were underachieving for most of the season, as Izzo carries his boys to the tournament. |

02-27-21 | Rhode Island v. Duquesne -1 | 75-86 | Win | 100 | 17 h 55 m | Show
Rhode Island/Duquesne 7:00: Rhode Island not the team they were a year ago and not playing that well on the road. They already lost to the Dukes 71-69 at home Jan 20th. Duquesne on a 6-1 ATS run - playing pretty good basketball. Former University of Akron HC Dambrot a good coach and has his team improving every year. Duquesne the call. |
|||||||
02-27-21 | Alabama v. Mississippi State +6 | 64-59 | Win | 100 | 16 h 13 m | Show
Alabama/Miss State 6:00: Crimson Tide was blazing hot in January but has gotten sluggish in February on a 1-4 ATS slide. Poor defense, turnovers costing them. They step in to a pretty strong venue to take on the vengeful Bulldogs who gave them a run for their money January 23rd with cover as a 9' point dog (81-73). Tonight, we're getting three buckets with a shaping up Miss State team. Ben Howland is all about defense and rebounding and the Bulldogs are showing signs of those strong Pittsburgh teams Howland coached in the 90s. Bulldogs 4-0 ATS after allowing 50 point or less previously. They're not going to entirely stop the offensive minded 'Tide but capable of competing with them on this floor. 'Tide has lost its last 4 ATS on the road. |

02-27-21 | LSU v. Arkansas -4.5 | Top | 75-83 | Win | 100 | 13 h 0 m | Show |
LSU/Arkansas 2:00: Arkansas playing a great stretch of basketball on a 5-0 ATS run. They're coming off a successful revenge demolition win over #6 Alabama which destroyed them 90-59 in January. Today, the Hogs have LSU in a similar situation. LSU pounded them 92-76 back in mid January and the Hogs, which are a much better team now, will have a revenge opportunity on their strong home floor where they've won and covered their last 4 SEC matchups in impressive fashion. Go Hogs! |
|||||||
02-26-21 | Pacers v. Celtics -2.5 | 112-118 | Win | 100 | 3 h 4 m | Show
Indiana/Boston 7:35: Celtics in a funk yet should bounce back nice here; after all, they're 8-3 ATS off a loss of 10+ points. Boston has their pride and in a good spot to pick up a convincing win. Boston does miss hustle guy - Marcus Smart (injured) but Walker, Brown and Tatum, sluggish as of late but should turn it up a notch here. They are elite players and no excuse for sluggishness. Indiana not playing their best basketball (3-6 ATS slide) and haven't had a whole lot of success in this series (2-5-2 ATS) including 0-2 SU/ATS in Boston. Pacers 3-8 ATS on the road vs teams with a home winning % above .600. Celtics the call. |

02-25-21 | Iowa +4.5 v. Michigan | 57-79 | Loss | -110 | 18 h 58 m | Show
Iowa/Michigan 7:00: Interesting matchup of big men: Garza vs Dickinson. Dickinson is a beast and nearly unstoppable near the rim. The freshman is growing every week on both ends of the court. Iowa's Garza is an already established big man who has the better touch on the perimeter and a matchup nightmare. And although Michigan is a legitimate top tier contender, still not entirely in rhythm on both ends of the court after that extended layoff from Jan 22nd to Feb 14th. Meanwhile, Iowa is getting their defense in order as they've held their last 5 opponents under 70 points. Iowa a dangerous dog here. |
