2020 Rushing Yards Totals Prop: Derrick Henry
No one ran the ball more times or for more yards last season than Derrick Henry. And he did it in just 15 games.
Those numbers: 303 carries for 1540 yards. The fifth-year running back out of Alabama won’t even have to replicate those numbers to go over the highest total on the board in 2020.
Is there a good reason not play the over? The Titans did draft a rookie ‘back in the third round but Henry remains the unquestioned workhorse.
That workload, which is a boon, might also be his downfall. It’s difficult for a single horse to stay healthy for one season. Two in a row will be that much harder.
Henry has only missed two games in four professional seasons but I’m concerned he may not be the same with teams ganging up on him to stop the ground attack. Gut call on the under.
2020 Rushing Yards Totals Prop: Nick Chubb
Chubb flashed his talent as a rookie and fulfilled even the loftiest expectations those in the fantasy football realm had for him in 2019 when he rushed 298 yards for 1494 yards.
He’ll be a consensus first round pick in 2020 drafts, even with Kareem Hunt in the mix in the Browns’ backfield.
Cleveland will certainly look to reduce Chubb’s workload this season. A running back can only handle so many seasons of 300 carries. If he can maintain his average, however, 250 carries will be enough to get him over this number. Take the over on this strapping young lad.
2020 Rushing Yards Totals Prop: Ezekiel Elliott
Elliott was the only other back, other than Henry, to run it over 300 times last season but he finished with nearly 200 less yards this his counterpart with the Titans.
That should be a concern for a back also entering his fifth professional season and who has nearly averaged 300 carries a season in his first four.
With Tony Pollard (last year’s fourth round draft pick) threatening to cut into his workload, Elliott should be considered both high risk to suffer an injury after so many carries the four previous seasons and/or to dip again in his yards per attempt average. I’m under on Zeke.
2020 Rushing Yards Totals Prop: Saquon Barkley
Barkley finished just three yards over 1000 in an injury-riddled 2019 season. He only missed three games on paper but he was held out of long stretches of others.
His average per attempt also dipped from his rookie season in 2018 but not to an alarming level. He still ran for 4.5 per carry in a Giants’ offense that was dysfunctional at times with Daniel Jones learning the ropes.
New York may still be bad again but it probably won’t be as bad as it was last season, which means it should be able to balance the play-calling better and give Barkley close to 300 carries, which should have him well over this total.
