08-24-23 | Rockies v. Rays -1.5 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 29 m | Show |
The Rays did not announce a Thursday starter, but multiple reports stated right-hander Shawn Armstrong (0-0, 1.00 ERA) would serve as the opener of a bullpen game. He has made four starts among his 24 appearances this season and seven in his 227 career outings. Three of his four starts in 2023 consisted of two scoreless innings. In the other start, Armstrong went a season-high three innings and didn't yield a run against the Philadelphia Phillies on July 6. He pitched one shutout inning in the series opener on Tuesday. Colorado's Peter Lambert will make the start in Florida before the club stays in the AL East and heads to Baltimore for a series beginning Friday. The right-handed Lambert (3-4, 5.02) will be seeking to follow up his last start, an outstanding seven-inning stint in a 14-1 win over the White Sox. |
|||||||
08-23-23 | Reds -110 v. Angels | Top | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 20 m | Show |
The Reds will go with with their most consistent pitcher this season, rookie Andrew Abbott (8-3, 2.99 ERA). The left-hander allowed six hits and two runs over five innings in his most recent start, a 7-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Aug. 16. The Angels will give the ball to lefty Reid Detmers (3-9, 4.93 ERA) in the second game. On Aug. 16 at Texas, Detmers had the strongest outing of his season when he carried a no-hitter through 7 1/3 innings before Marcus Semien doubled. |
|||||||
08-23-23 | Blue Jays v. Orioles +114 | 0-7 | Win | 114 | 10 h 52 m | Show
Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman looks for a bounce-back outing when the Toronto Blue Jays visit the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three-game series Wednesday night. The Blue Jays won 6-3 in 10 innings Tuesday night, their third straight win. After going 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA over three starts, Gausman (9-7, 3.24 ERA) allowed seven runs - five earned - in 5 1/3 innings of a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 16. He walked three and struck out four. The Orioles will counter with right-hander Jack Flaherty (8-8, 4.73 ERA overall; 1-2, 7.07 with Baltimore), who makes his fourth start since being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals. Flaherty is also looking for a bounce-back effort after being pounded for seven runs on three hits and four walks in three innings of a loss to the San Diego Padres in his last start. He walked three in a row during the first inning while allowing five runs. |
|||||||
08-23-23 | Twins v. Brewers -133 | Top | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 5 h 2 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Brewers will turn to ace right-hander Corbin Burnes to extend their winning streak when they host the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a two-game interleague series between division leaders. Burnes (9-6, 3.43 ERA) will be opposed by right-hander Kenta Maeda (3-7, 4.13). Milwaukee took the opener 7-3 on Tuesday night, bunching six singles for a five-run rally in the sixth inning. The Brewers, returning home after a 6-3 road trip, won their fourth straight to move a season-high 12 games above .500. |
|||||||
08-22-23 | Twins v. Brewers OVER 8 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 0 m | Show
Veteran left-hander Wade Miley (6-3, 3.05 ERA) gets the nod for Milwaukee, opposed by right-hander Bailey Ober (6-6, 3.40). Milwaukee entered its off day on Monday with a three-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central. The Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the American League West-leading Texas Rangers with a 6-2 victory Sunday. Miley will be making his fourth start since coming off the injured list on Aug. 2 (left elbow discomfort). He is 0-1 in August, despite a 3.00 ERA over those three starts. In his last start, Miley took the loss in a 7-1 defeat to the Dodgers, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five innings. Miley is 1-0 with a 4.18 ERA in five career games, including four starts, against Minnesota. Ober will be facing the Brewers for the second time this season. He earned the win on June 14 when he allowed two runs on a pair of solo homers in six innings in a 4-2 victory. Ober did not get the decision in his last start, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings in a 5-3 win over Detroit. |
|||||||
08-22-23 | Cardinals v. Pirates -130 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 7 h 51 m | Show |
On Tuesday, right-handers Adam Wainwright (3-8, 8.42 ERA) of St. Louis and Johan Oviedo (6-13, 4.55) of Pittsburgh are scheduled to start. Wainwright is coming off a quality start - three runs allowed in six innings Thursday against the New York Mets - on the heels of his shortest career start, when he lasted just one inning. In fact, he had given up 15 earned runs in four-plus innings over two outings before the Mets game. So the veteran, who is expected to retire at the end of the season, had a frank talk before his most recent outing -- with himself. |
|||||||
08-22-23 | Cubs v. Tigers +1.5 | Top | 6-8 | Win | 100 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly has looked good this month in a relief role, but he will try to get back on track as a starter on Tuesday when Chicago faces the host Detroit Tigers in the middle contest of a three-game series. Smyly has tossed an inning of scoreless relief in each of his last three appearances. He'll be making his first start since Aug. 7, when he allowed seven runs in five innings against the New York Mets. Smyly (9-8, 4.92 ERA) began his career with Detroit. In three career starts against the Tigers, he is 0-2 with a 5.50 ERA. Smyly will be opposed by rookie right-hander Reese Olson (2-5, 4.83) on Tuesday. In his most recent outing last Wednesday, Olson lasted just 2 2/3 innings while giving up four runs and eight hits to Minnesota. |
|||||||
08-21-23 | Marlins v. Padres -178 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 55 m | Show
But now Miami has lost four of its last five games. The Marlins will turn to former Padres' left-hander Ryan Weathers (1-7, 6.89 ERA) to start Monday. Weathers is 0-1 in one appearance since going to the Marlins in an Aug. 1 trade for first baseman/designated hitter Garrett Cooper and relief pitcher Sean Reynolds. He hasn't pitched since giving up six runs on six hits and four walks with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings at Texas on Aug. 5. Weathers was 0-3 with an 8.79 ERA in four starts for the Padres at Petco Park this season. Monday would normally have been left-hander Jesus Luzardo's turn in the rotation. But he has been pushed back to Tuesday after going 0-3 with a 10.59 ERA in his last four starts. He has allowed 21 runs (20 earned) in 17 innings in that span and hasn't worked more than 5 1/3 innings during any of those outings. The Padres will counter with right-hander Michael Wacha (9-2, 2.68 ERA), who has been on a roll over the better part of the last three-plus months. Since May 2, Wacha is 7-1 with a 1.10 ERA over his last 11 starts, including his most recent outing against Baltimore last Tuesday. He allowed three hits in five scoreless innings against the Orioles, walking one and striking out five to earn the win. Wacha is 3-1 with a 4.05 ERA in five career starts against the Marlins. |
|||||||
08-21-23 | Cardinals v. Pirates +1.5 | Top | 1-11 | Win | 100 | 7 h 16 m | Show |
The Pirates will look to get their offense going on Monday against left-hander Drew Rom, who is expected to be summoned from Triple-A Memphis to make his major league debut. Rom was the primary pitching prospect acquired from Baltimore in an Aug. 1 trade deadline deal that sent right-hander Jack Flaherty to the Orioles. In two starts at Memphis, Rom recorded a pair of victories, allowing just two runs (one earned) in 11 innings -- good for an 0.82 ERA. He also made 19 appearances (18 starts) for Triple-A Norfolk this season while in the Orioles' organization. During his time there, Rom went 7-6 with a 5.34 ERA. |
|||||||
08-21-23 | Cubs -1.5 v. Tigers | Top | 7-6 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 59 m | Show |
Tigers right-hander Alex Faedo (2-4, 5.16 ERA) will start the series opener. His WHIP (0.99) is a lot more impressive than his ERA, thanks to his last three outings. He has had a pair of scoreless, one-hit performances, first against San Diego over six innings on July 23 and most recently in a five-inning stint against the Twins on Tuesday. Former reliever Javier Assad (2-2, 3.11), Faedo's mound opponent, has posted two quality starts this month. He held Toronto to one run and four hits in seven innings on Aug. 11. In his last outing on Wednesday, the Cubs right-hander gave up three runs (two earned) and four hits in six innings against the Chicago White Sox. |
|||||||
08-20-23 | Pirates v. Twins -127 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 41 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins will turn to left-hander Dallas Keuchel in the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis. It will be just the third start of the season for the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner, who signed a minor league contract with the Twins on June 22. Keuchel (0-1, 9.45 ERA) was solid in his first start, a 5-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 6 at Target Field. He allowed one run on eight hits over five innings. Ryan Borucki (1-0, 4.07) will make his second start of the season on Sunday. Borucki is 0-1 with a 1.86 ERA in five career games (one start) against the Twins. He allowed one run on one hit in one inning of relief in Friday's 5-1 series opening loss. |
|||||||
08-20-23 | Blue Jays v. Reds UNDER 9.5 | 10-3 | Loss | -120 | 2 h 18 m | Show
The Blue Jays will turn to Hyun Jin Ryu (1-1, 2.57 ERA) to start Sunday's game. He will make just his fourth start of the season after being sidelined with an elbow injury. The left-hander has had his share of success against the Reds, boasting a 5-2 record with a 3.23 ERA and 47 strikeouts in eight career starts (47 1/3 innings). The Reds on Sunday will turn to right-hander Hunter Greene (2-4, 3.93 ERA), who will be activated from the 60-day injured list. Greene has been sidelined with an ailing hip. Greene has faced the Blue Jays once in his career. He allowed one run on four hits in six innings in a no-decision on May 21, 2022. |
|||||||
08-20-23 | Red Sox v. Yankees -103 | Top | 6-5 | Loss | -103 | 2 h 20 m | Show |
New York's Clarke Schmidt (8-7, 4.76 ERA) will attempt to rebound from a loss after allowing a career-worst eight runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings during Monday's 11-3 loss at Atlanta. Before his rough start against the Braves, Schmidt had allowed three runs or less in 15 straight starts dating to May 19. Schmidt is 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA in six career appearances (two starts) against the Red Sox. He started against Boston in consecutive outings on June 11 and 18 when he allowed a combined three runs on nine hits in 10 innings. Fellow right-hander Josh Winckowski (3-1, 3.20) will serve as the opener for the first time before Nick Pivetta follows as a bulk reliever. Pivetta is 4-3 with a 5.88 ERA in 11 starts and 4-2 with a 2.40 ERA in 18 relief appearances this season. He is 1-3 with a 7.71 ERA in 11 career appearances (seven starts) against the Yankees. Pivetta is 1-0 and has yet to allow a run in three relief appearances spanning 4 2/3 innings against the Yankees this year |
|||||||
08-19-23 | Tigers v. Guardians UNDER 8 | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 50 m | Show
On Saturday, the Guardians will send Tanner Bibee (9-2, 2.90 ERA) to the mound against the Tigers' Matt Manning (4-4, 4.60) in a battle of right-handers. Bibee will be the third of four consecutive rookie starting pitchers who Cleveland will throw against Detroit. Guardians rookies Gavin Williams and Xzavion Curry pitched in Friday's doubleheader, while first-year left-hander Logan Allen will start Sunday's series finale. Bibee, who may get consideration for Rookie of the Year honors, had the rockiest of his 19 starts of the season against the Tigers on May 8. Detroit knocked Bibee around for four earned runs on seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings in a 6-2 loss that day. But ever since, Bibee has made his learning curve look pretty easy. Bibee has won seven straight decisions, and his ERA of 1.82 since July 1 is the lowest in the American League in that span. |
|||||||
08-19-23 | Marlins v. Dodgers UNDER 9.5 | Top | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 36 m | Show |
Right-hander Eury Perez (5-4, 3.19 ERA) and left-hander Braxton Garrett (7-3, 3.91) will look to help Miami secure a more favorable position in the postseason chase. Perez will get the nod for Game 1 on Saturday, while Braxton is scheduled to start the nightcap. In his most recent outing, Perez escaped with a no-decision after giving up four runs on four hits in four innings against the New York Yankees on Sunday. The rookie has never faced Los Angeles. Garrett worked five scoreless innings against the Houston Astros on Monday, surrendering just four hits to earn the win. He has faced the Dodgers once in his career, allowing three runs on three hits in three innings of relief on May 15, 2021. Left-hander Caleb Ferguson (7-3, 2.38 ERA) is set to go up against Perez to begin the twin bill. Ferguson, who will be serving as an opener, has made 51 appearances this season, but only one was a start. In seven career appearances (zero starts) against the Marlins, Ferguson has never earned a decision while recording a 4.76 ERA. Fellow southpaw Julio Urias (10-6, 4.35 ERA) is expected to take the mound for Game 2 after permitting three runs on four hits in seven innings against the Rockies on Sunday. Urias matched his career high with 12 strikeouts against Colorado and has picked up three consecutive wins. He has also logged three quality starts over his past four outings, giving up six runs in 24 innings during that span, good for a 2.25 ERA. |
|||||||
08-19-23 | Royals v. Cubs -185 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 3 m | Show |
The Chicago Cubs are undefeated in five straight games with ace Justin Steele on the mound. Amid a tight postseason race, the host Cubs need that trend to continue while trying to avoid a second straight loss to the pesky Kansas City Royals on Saturday. Scoring hasn't been a problem in Steele's past five starts. The Cubs have totaled 45 runs during that stretch, as he has gone 4-0. However, the left-hander has yielded three earned runs in each of his last three starts. Steele (13-3, 2.79 ERA) has also failed to complete six innings in two consecutive outings. Most recently, in a no-decision on Aug. 12 at Toronto, he yielded six hits and struck out seven over five innings during Chicago's 5-4 victory. In his third big-league season, Steele ranked among the major league leaders in wins, ERA and WHIP (1.17), and he has already thrown a career-high 126 innings. |
|||||||
08-18-23 | Diamondbacks +155 v. Padres | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 7 m | Show |
Brandon Pfaadt is considered the Arizona Diamondbacks' No. 1 pitching prospect, but it hasn't been an easy season for the 24-year-old rookie. The 6-foot-4 right-hander is in his third tour with the Diamondbacks this year, and he is still looking for his first major league win after 11 starts. Pfaadt is 0-6 with a 6.91 ERA. However, if Pfaadt breaks through on Friday in a rematch against San Diego Padres right-hander Seth Lugo, the Diamondbacks would have their first four-game winning streak since they won six straight games from June 6-12. The Padres have lost each of the last four games started by Lugo, the former Mets swingman who is 0-2 with a 5.64 ERA and a 1.209 WHIP during that stretch. A large part of the problem is that Lugo has given up five homers in that span and at least one home run in six straight starts after allowing just six homers in his first 12 starts. The Padres are just 6-12 in Lugo's starts this year. Arizona is 5-6 when Pfaadt starts. |
|||||||
08-18-23 | Red Sox v. Yankees -105 | 8-3 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 6 m | Show
After Chris Sale struggled in his second start off the injured list, the Red Sox open the series with Brayan Bello (8-7, 3.81 ERA), who owns a 5.67 ERA in six starts since the break. Bello last pitched in a 6-2 loss to Detroit last Saturday when he allowed four runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Bello is 1-2 with a 1.44 ERA in four career starts against the Yankees, who are hitting .198 against him. He last faced the Yankees on June 18 in Boston where he pitched seven innings of one-run ball. New York did not announce a starter and could go with an opener before using rookie Jhony Brito as a bulk reliever. Brito is 4-5 with a 4.76 ERA in 15 games. In his three relief outings, he is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and pitched five innings in Miami last Saturday when he relieved Michael King. |
|||||||
08-18-23 | Tigers v. Guardians OVER 7 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
Detroit will send left-hander Tarik Skubal (2-2, 4.18 ERA) to the mound in Game 1. He allowed five runs (four earned) over 5 1/3 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox last Friday. Skubal, 26, has posted a 36-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in seven starts this season since returning from flexor tendon surgery in his left elbow last August. Jose Ramirez is 5-for-14 against Skubal, who is 0-2 with a 4.40 ERA in six career starts versus Cleveland. The Guardians will counter with right-hander Gavin Williams (1-3, 2.80), who has recorded a total of 22 strikeouts over his last two starts covering 12 innings. The rookie allowed one run over five frames in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays last Saturday. |
|||||||
08-17-23 | Brewers +133 v. Dodgers | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 8 m | Show
On a roll since the start of July, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes will now work on his spotty history against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Burnes (9-6, 3.60 ERA) will face the Dodgers on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series as the Brewers look to avoid the sweep following a 7-1 defeat at Los Angeles on Wednesday. The Dodgers extended their season-best winning streak to 10 games. Dodgers right-hander Lance Lynn (9-9, 5.88 ERA) takes the mound on Thursday, having posted a 3-0 record with a 2.00 ERA in three starts with his new club. Lynn was acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline. Lynn leads the majors with 32 home runs allowed and has given up four long balls with the Dodgers, though he held the visiting Colorado Rockies in the park on Friday. He yielded just one unearned run in five innings while striking out nine in that contest. Lynn has dominated the Brewers in his career, going 11-3 with a 2.16 ERA in 21 outings (17 starts). He logged 117 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings during those contests. |
|||||||
08-17-23 | Mets v. Cardinals +118 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 20 m | Show |
In his past two starts, Wainwright (3-7, 8.78 ERA) retired just 12 batters while allowing 15 runs on 18 hits. The Cardinals will start him Thursday against the visiting New York Mets in the opener of a four-game series. However, this is the last opportunity team management is promising him. The Mets will counter Wainwright with former Cardinals hurler Jose Quintana (0-4, 3.03 ERA), who will make his sixth start since recovering from rib surgery. He allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of five starts this season. Quintana is 5-4 with a 4.42 ERA in 12 career starts against the Cardinals. |
|||||||
08-17-23 | Red Sox v. Nationals +167 | Top | 7-10 | Win | 167 | 4 h 49 m | Show |
Chris Sale makes his second start since returning from the injured list when the Boston Red Sox meet the host Washington Nationals in the rubber game of their series on Thursday. Sale (5-2, 4.52 ERA), who had been out since early June because of a stress reaction in his shoulder, returned last Friday and allowed two runs on one hit -- a home run -- in 4 2/3 innings against the Tigers. He struck out seven without a walk and retired the first 14 Tigers he faced. The Nationals will counter with veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin (7-11, 4.85 ERA). Corbin allowed an unearned run on one hit and seven walks in five-plus innings during his last start, a no-decision against the Phillies last Thursday. |
|||||||
08-16-23 | Brewers +1.5 v. Dodgers | Top | 1-7 | Loss | -104 | 13 h 13 m | Show |
Wade Miley allowed one run on two hits and three walks in 6.0 innings as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Colorado Rockies 7-3 on Tuesday. Miley struck out two, ending the game with a 2.90 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on the season. |
|||||||
08-16-23 | Guardians v. Reds OVER 9.5 | 2-7 | Loss | -115 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Cleveland will send right-hander Noah Syndergaard (2-5, 6.35 ERA) to the mound on Wednesday for his fourth start since being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Syndergaard allowed seven hits and six runs over three innings in his final start with the Dodgers on June 7 at Cincinnati, an 8-6 Reds win. He is 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA since changing teams. In his career against the Reds, Syndergaard is 7-0 with a 3.02 ERA in nine starts. The Reds will counter with rookie Andrew Abbott (7-3, 2.95 ERA), who is set to make his 14th start of the season. The left-hander will be facing the Guardians for the first time. Abbott won his latest start, as he beat the host Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday after allowing two runs and striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings. |
|||||||
08-16-23 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies UNDER 12.5 | Top | 9-7 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
It might help that the Rockies are sending a revitalized Austin Gomber (9-9, 5.33 ERA) to the mound in the finale while the Diamondbacks will counter with rookie Slade Cecconi (0-0, 2.84). Gomber has been Colorado's best pitcher since June 25, going 5-2 with a 2.72 ERA in nine starts. He took a road loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday despite allowing just two runs in five innings. He has been especially effective at home, where he has posted a 3.60 ERA in his past five starts -- tossing at least five innings in each of those outings. Part of Gomber's turnaround -- he was 0-4 with a 12.12 ERA in mid-April -- was acknowledging the weight of being a key piece in the Nolan Arenado trade in 2021 was impacting his performance. That proved cathartic for him. |
|||||||
08-15-23 | Rays v. Giants +1.5 | 0-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show
Expect a plethora of Giants relievers for the second straight game in another bullpen night, led by right-hander Jakob Junis, Meckler figures to get his initial cracks at a pitcher with whom many other Giants are very familiar -- right-hander Zack Littell (2-3, 4.10 ERA). The 27-year-old went 7-3 with a 3.82 ERA in 102 games, including two starts, for the Giants over the previous two seasons. He signed as a free agent with the Texas Rangers in February, was purchased by the Boston Red Sox in May, and then was claimed off waivers by the Rays a week later. He has made 50 appearances at Oracle Park in his six-year career, but never as a Giants opponent. After coming out of the bullpen in 11 of his first 14 appearances for the Rays, Littell has made three straight starts, going 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA over that stretch. The loss came in his most recent start, a 5-2 defeat against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, when he allowed three runs in a season-high-tying six innings. That Giants announced late Monday night that Junis (3-3, 4.36 ERA) would make the start on Tuesday. It will be just his second start in 32 appearances this season. In the first one, on July 31, he pitched three shutout innings against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks in a game the Giants eventually lost 4-3 in 11 innings. Junis has made seven appearances, including five starts, against the Rays, all while he was with the Kansas City Royals. He is 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA against Tampa Bay. |
|||||||
08-15-23 | Phillies v. Blue Jays UNDER 8 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 14 m | Show |
Blue Jays hitters will be challenged Tuesday by Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler (9-5, 3.74 ERA). Wheeler held the Blue Jays to one run and three hits over seven innings May 10 but did not factor in the decision as the Phillies completed a two-game sweep at Philadelphia. In five career starts against Toronto, he is 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA. Toronto is scheduled to start left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (9-4, 3.53), who will be facing the Phillies for the first time. The Phillies completed a 6-4 homestand. losing 8-1 on Saturday and 3-0 on Sunday to the Twins in the final two games. |
|||||||
08-15-23 | Red Sox v. Nationals OVER 9 | Top | 5-4 | Push | 0 | 6 h 20 m | Show |
Washington's Josiah Gray (7-9, 3.69 ERA) is set to pitch the opener against Boston's Nick Pivetta (8-6, 4.16). Gray is 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA over his past two starts. In his most recent outing, Gray gave up four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies. He left the game one batter after surrendering a two-run homer to Bryce Harper. Gray allowed one run over six innings of a no-decision in his only previous start against Boston in 2021. Pivetta will be making his third start in his last four appearances. In the previous two starts, he went 1-1 while allowing five runs on nine hits over 12 1/3 innings. He struck out 18 batters and walked two. Overall, Pivetta has been on an extended roll, compiling a 2.53 ERA over his past 14 outings while holding opponents to a .155 batting average. |
|||||||
08-14-23 | Rays v. Giants +1.5 | Top | 10-2 | Loss | -135 | 13 h 57 m | Show |
Ryan Walker allowed one hit without giving up a run in 1.0 inning as the San Francisco Giants lost to the Texas Rangers 2-1 on Friday. Walker did not strike out a batter, ending the game with a 2.40 ERA and 1.19 WHIP on the season. |
|||||||
08-14-23 | A's v. Cardinals -199 | Top | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 11 h 6 m | Show |
Miles Mikolas (6-8, 4.20 ERA) will continue his quest for a strong finish to the season when he draws the start Monday as the Cardinals host the Oakland Athletics to open a three-game series. Oakland will start left-hander JP Sears (2-9, 4.23) in the series opener. This will be his first career start against the Cardinals. Sears took a 6-1 loss to the Texas Rangers in his previous start after allowing four runs on nine hits in four innings. Before that start, he had surrendered two runs or fewer in four of his previous six outings. |
|||||||
08-14-23 | Pirates v. Mets OVER 8.5 | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 25 m | Show
Carlos Carrasco (3-6, 6.42 ERA) is expected to start for the Mets against fellow right-hander Quinn Priester (2-1, 8.75). The Mets salvaged the finale of a four-game series against the visiting Atlanta Braves on Sunday night when Kodai Senga tossed six solid innings and recorded the win in New York's 7-6 victory. The host Pirates split a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds, earning a 4-2 win in the opener before suffering a 6-5, 10-inning loss in the nightcap. The win over the Braves -- who won 7-0 on Friday night before outscoring the Mets 27-3 in a doubleheader sweep Saturday -- served as a reminder of how quickly New York has fallen behind Atlanta in the race for supremacy in the National League East. |

Williams struck out a season-best 12 and gave up one hit and one walk in seven innings against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. He received a no-decision. It marks the second time in nine big league starts that Williams gave up just one hit over seven shutout innings. The other was against the Kansas City Royals on June 27. He also received a no-decision in that outing. Right-hander Shawn Armstrong (0-0, 1.15) will serve as the Rays' opener for the fourth time this season. Tampa Bay was hoping to start right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) but decided to push him back to Monday. Armstrong has allowed just 20 hits in 31 1/3 innings this season. He has struck out 34 and walked six. Armstrong, 32, is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in six career relief outings against Cleveland, a franchise he pitched for from 2015-17. |

The Mets will counter with rookie right-hander Denyi Reyes (0-1, 6.14) in the opener and veteran left-hander Jose Quintana (0-3, 3.42) in the nightcap. The Phillies will hand the ball to Cristopher Sanchez (0-3, 3.44 ERA). In Sanchez's last start, he gave up six hits and six runs in five innings against the Kansas City Royals. Sanchez has never faced the Twins. The struggling Twins will look to snap a three-game losing streak. After winning the opener of a four-game series against the Detroit Tigers, the Twins fell flat and dropped the final three, including a 3-0 loss on Thursday. Dallas Keuchel is scheduled to start for Minnesota. It will be Keuchel's second start since being signed to a minor league deal by the Twins. In his Twins debut last Sunday, he held the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks to one run in five innings. |

Abbott, who has not faced the Pirates, will be making his 12th major-league start in a strong rookie season. On Saturday against Washington, Abbott had one of his biggest hiccups. He took his first loss since July 15, allowing six runs, nine hits and a career-high five walks in 5 2/3 innings. Oviedo is on a roll. He is 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA over his past three games, all quality starts. He also has been a boon to the bullpen - he has reached seven innings six times. That includes his last time out when he pitched seven shutout innings Sunday in a win at Milwaukee. |

Syndergaard, 30, endured a horrific night during his initial outing at Progressive Field. Kremer, 27, has received a no-decision in each of his past four starts. He allowed two runs and two hits in 5 1/3 against the New York Mets on Friday in his last outing. Kremer tossed his only career shutout against the Astros when he allowed four hits on Sept. 23, 2022. Overall, he is 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA in two career outings versus Houston, both coming last season. Right-hander Hunter Brown (8-7, 4.07) will be on the mound for Houston and aiming for a third straight victorious start. Brown gave up two runs and struck out four in six innings while beating both the Rays (July 29) and New York Yankees (last Friday) in his last two turns. He gave up four hits to the Rays and five versus the Yankees. Brown, 24, has never started against the Orioles. He is 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA during the stretch. Kelly received a no-decision against the Minnesota Twins in his last turn when he allowed two runs (both on solo homers) and six hits over six innings. He struck out nine. Rookie right-hander Bobby Miller (6-2, 4.26) will take the mound for the Dodgers. Miller, 24, lasted just 3 2/3 innings while receiving a no-decision against the San Diego Padres on Friday. He gave up two runs (one earned) and six hits. Miller has never faced the Diamondbacks. Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez was scratched from Tuesday night's lineup due to groin and hamstring tightness and flew back to Los Angeles. Manager Dave Roberts said Martinez will undergo an MRI exam. |

The Milwaukee Brewers will turn to right-hander Adrian Houser for the rubber game of their three-game series against the visiting Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon. Coming off one of his best starts of the season, Houser (4-3, 4.19 ERA) will be opposed by right-hander Chris Flexen (1-5, 7.82). Houser picked up the win in his most recent start, allowing one run on four hits in six innings in a 14-1 victory over Pittsburgh last Thursday. Houser is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in four career starts against the Rockies. Flexen will be making his third start for the Rockies since being acquired off waivers from the Mets on July 13. In his last start, he got his first win with Colorado, giving up three runs on 10 hits over five innings in a 9-4 win over the Cardinals last Friday. Flexen began the season with Seattle, going 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, before being traded to the Mets, who designated him for assignment the same day. He is 0-2 with an 8.68 ERA in three career appearances, including one start, vs. the Brewers. |

08-08-23 | Cardinals v. Rays -1.5 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 125 | 15 h 1 m | Show |
Both teams were off on Monday, and on Tuesday, St. Louis sends Miles Mikolas (6-7, 4.29 ERA) to the mound, while Tampa Bay counters with Zach Eflin (12-6, 3.46). Mikolas was lined up to start on Sunday, but instead opted to drop his appeal on a five-game suspension levied by MLB after the right-hander intentionally plunked Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ with a pitch. With Mikolas not getting the starting nod against Colorado, the Cardinals used left-hander Zack Thompson (2-4) as an opener. Four relievers were used to close out the one-run loss, which made Monday's day off more beneficial to rest some arms. Mikolas is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in two career starts against Tampa Bay. In 14 innings, the veteran has yielded four home runs. Eflin is 1-1 with a 4.42 ERA in three starts (18 1/3 innings) against the Cardinals. At home, Eflin has been especially effective this season, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.60 ERA. However, in his last outing at Tropicana Field, the 29-year-old gave up five runs in four innings in a loss to the Miami Marlins on July 26. But in Eflin's last start, on the road at the New York Yankees, the right-hander tossed six shutout innings in a win. |
|||||||

Wheeler is 10-14 with a 4.66 ERA in 30 career starts against the Nationals, while Suarez is 6-1 with a 3.80 ERA in 13 career games (six starts) versus Washington. The surging Nationals have won four straight heading into this doubleheader. After a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers last Wednesday, the Nationals swept the Cincinnati Reds, outscoring them 19-9 during the three-game set. Washington is also 11-5 over its last 16 games. |

08-06-23 | Giants -190 v. A's | 6-8 | Loss | -190 | 5 h 33 m | Show
Luis Medina (3-8, 5.35 ERA) is slated to start for the Athletics against the Giants' Alex Cobb (6-3, 3.05) in a battle of right-handers. The Athletics snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday when Seth Brown delivered a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning and a quartet of pitchers combined on a three-hitter in a 2-1 victory. Trevor May earned the win by recording the final five outs in front of 37,553 fans -- the A's largest crowd since 40,065 on Aug. 6, 2022, at Oakland Coliseum. The Athletics have regularly been playing to four-digit crowds during a season in which team owner John Fisher has reached an agreement to relocate the franchise to Las Vegas. |

08-06-23 | Marlins v. Rangers OVER 8.5 | 0-6 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 20 m | Show
Ace Sandy Alcantara (4-9, 4.21 ERA) is Miami's best shot when it comes to leaving Texas with a win. He is seeking his third straight outing of eight or more innings. In his last appearance, a home start against Philadelphia, the 27-year old tossed eight scoreless innings. And in the start prior to that one on July 26, he fired his second complete game of the season in a 7-1 win over Tampa Bay. In addition to the hard-hitting lineup that the Rangers' boast, Bochy is sending a veteran southpaw to the mound in Andrew Heaney (8-6, 4.36). The 32-year-old will be a worthy challenger for Alcantara in the pitching matchup, as Heaney comes off a six-inning, 11-strikeout performance against the White Sox on Tuesday. He allowed only two hits. |
|||||||
08-06-23 | White Sox v. Guardians OVER 9 | Top | 5-3 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 57 m | Show |
Jesse Scholtens, a 29-year-old rookie right-hander, is scheduled to start the series finale for the White Sox. Just three of his 17 appearances this season have come as a starter. Scholtens (1-4, 3.07 ERA) went six innings in his most recent appearance on Tuesday. He held the American League West-leading Texas Rangers to one run and three hits with six strikeouts and one walk, but took the loss in the 2-0 defeat. Cleveland plans to start Xzavion Curry, who has also been used predominantly in a relief role this season, making 25 of his 28 appearances out of the bullpen. Curry (3-1, 2.90) made his last start on July 28, holding the White Sox to one run and two hits in three innings, but the Guardians did not provide any run support, and he took the loss in the 3-0 defeat. Curry has made four appearances (one start) against the White Sox in his career and is 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA. |
|||||||
08-05-23 | White Sox v. Guardians OVER 9 | Top | 7-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 14 m | Show |
After having his Guardians debut cut short, right-hander Noah Syndergaard will look to fully display his talents on Saturday night when Cleveland faces the visiting Chicago White Sox in the second contest of a three-game series. Syndergaard (1-4, 6.68 ERA) struggled in his first 12 starts this season with the Los Angeles Dodgers before looking revitalized for Cleveland against the Houston Astros on Monday, allowing just one run on two hits in 5 1/3 innings. However, Syndergaard was forced to leave after just 68 pitches when he was hit in the leg by a line drive in the sixth. Right-hander Michael Kopech (4-10, 4.49) will attempt to help Chicago snap its skid when he makes his 21st start of the season on Saturday. Kopech also faced the Guardians in his most recent outing, taking a loss last Sunday after allowing three runs on four hits in five innings. Kopech again struggled to keep the ball in the park, giving up a pair of homers. He has surrendered a home run in each of his last six starts, going 1-5 with a 6.29 ERA during that span. In eight career appearances (four starts) against Cleveland, Kopech is 1-2 with a 3.51 ERA. |
|||||||
08-05-23 | Blue Jays v. Red Sox UNDER 10 | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 4 h 19 m | Show
Jose Berrios (8-7, 3.31 ERA) is scheduled to start for Toronto on Saturday. The right-hander has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his past five starts and has a 1.84 ERA during that span -- but he didn't get a win in any of those outings. He gave up a run on six hits in six innings during Toronto's 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday but didn't factor into the decision. Berrios allowed four runs on five hits in six innings and took the loss when Boston beat Toronto 5-0 on June 30. Three of the hits he gave up were home runs. He struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. Berrios is 1-6 with a 4.31 ERA in 12 career starts against the Red Sox. John Schreiber (1-1, 3.74) will serve as the opener for Boston on Saturday. He has made one start in 22 appearances this season. In his most recent outing, Schreiber took his first loss of the year after allowing four runs in his lone inning during a relief outing against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. In nine career outings against the Blue Jays, all out of the bullpen, Schreiber has no decisions and a 0.00 ERA in 10 innings. He threw a combined 2 2/3 innings against Toronto in outings on May 2 and May 4. |

08-05-23 | Astros v. Yankees +126 | Top | 1-3 | Win | 126 | 1 h 20 m | Show |
A week ago, Justin Verlander was preparing for his first attempt at earning his 250th career win while still a member of the underachieving New York Mets. Verlander posted a 6-5 record and a 3.16 ERA for the Mets in the first year of a two-year, $86.7 million contract he signed in December after helping the Astros capture their second World Series title in team history. He joined a team that was coming off a 101-win season and was considered among the majors' preseason favorites. Verlander will be opposed by left-hander Nestor Cortes (5-2, 5.16 ERA), who is returning from a left rotator cuff strain for his first start since allowing two runs in five innings on May 30 in Seattle. Cortes initially hoped to miss just a few starts but wound up being transferred to the 60-day injured list. He allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings over two rehab starts for Double-A Somerset. "I've been on the shelf too long," Cortes said on Wednesday. "I want to come back and obviously show who I am and be back to the same form I was. So excited for this weekend." Cortes is 1-1 with an 8.04 ERA in six regular-season appearances (three starts) against Houston. He also faced them in Game 4 of last year's American League Championship Series but exited after two-plus innings with a groin injury. |
|||||||
08-04-23 | Mariners v. Angels OVER 8 | 9-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 31 m | Show
The four-game series between American League wild-card contenders will continue Friday night as Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo (7-7, 2.88 ERA) matches up against Angels lefty Reid Detmers (2-8, 4.35). Detmers has lost his past three decisions, including a 6-1 defeat at Toronto on Saturday despite allowing just two runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings. He's 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA in four career starts against Seattle. He didn't get a decision April 3 in Seattle in the Angels' 7-3 victory because he was pulled after 4 2/3 innings, falling an out shy of qualifying for the win. |
|||||||
08-04-23 | Astros v. Yankees +133 | Top | 7-3 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 54 m | Show |
After facing Shane McClanahan and Cristian Javier the previous two days, the Yankees will oppose Hunter Brown (7-7, 4.12 ERA), who leads AL rookies in innings (111 1/3) and strikeouts (126). Brown went 1-3 with a 5.92 ERA in five July outings and got the win on Saturday when he allowed two runs on four hits in six innings against Tampa Bay. Brown will be making his first career start against the Yankees. His only appearance against them was in a relief role when he walked two and got two outs in the eighth inning of Game 3 of the ALCS on Oct. 22. Luis Severino (2-5, 7.49 ERA) will attempt to rebound from another rough outing for the Yankees. Severino last pitched Sunday in Baltimore, where he allowed seven of his nine runs in the opening inning and tied a season high by yielding 10 hits. He was out after 3 1/3 innings. Severino had allowed four runs in 11 2/3 innings over his two previous starts, but Sunday marked the fourth time he allowed at least seven runs in his 12 starts this season. Severino is 2-3 with a 3.82 ERA in seven regular-season appearances (six starts) against the Astros. He last faced them in Game 2 of the ALCS at Houston on Oct. 20, when he allowed three runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. |

Zack Littell (1-2, 4.85 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Rays on Friday. The 27-year-old right-hander has been a reliever most of his career. He collected his first victory in eight career starts when he pitched five innings in an 8-2 win against Houston on Sunday. He gave up two runs and eight hits but didn't issue a walk. Tigers Rookie Reese Olson (1-4, 4.71) will start the series opener. Olson gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings last Friday in Miami but didn't figure into the decision in the 6-5 loss. He allowed the four runs during the first three innings. |
|||||||
08-03-23 | Reds v. Cubs OVER 10 | 3-5 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 29 m | Show
The season didn't begin well for Taillon, who is 5-6 with a 5.46 ERA going into this start. After the right-hander's first 14 starts, he was 2-6 with a 6.93 ERA in his first season with the Cubs. Since then, he's 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA. On Saturday, Taillon allowed four walks but just one run and two hits in six innings of a 5-1 victory at St. Louis. Scheduled Reds starter Luke Weaver (2-3, 6.80 ERA) will look to build on just his second quality start in 18 outings this season. Though the right-hander took the loss against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Saturday, he allowed just two hits over six innings. But both hits were homers that produced all of the Dodgers' runs as they beat the Reds 3-2. However, only one of the runs was earned. |

08-03-23 | Diamondbacks v. Giants UNDER 9 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 4 m | Show |
The Diamondbacks hope for a reset when they send rookie Brandon Pfaadt to the mound to face the host San Francisco Giants in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday. Pfaadt (0-4, 8.20 ERA), a fifth-round pick by Arizona in 2020, aims for his first big-league victory as he starts for the ninth time this season. The 24-year-old right-hander went five innings on May 14 against the Giants in his third start, allowing only one run and one hit -- a home run by Michael Conforto. He threw 86 pitches, struck out five and walked three. The Giants are planning to go with a bullpen day on Thursday, with left-hander Scott Alexander (6-1, 3.13 ERA) serving as the opener. Alexander is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 22 career appearances (three starts) vs. the Diamondbacks, 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three outings, all in relief, this year. After a series-opening win, Arizona has dropped the past two games, scoring a total of five runs in the two contests to slide a game outside of an NL wild-card position. |
|||||||
08-03-23 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -1.5 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 37 m | Show |
Right-hander Jack Flaherty will make his first start for the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon as they try to clinch their four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays. Baltimore obtained Flaherty before the trade deadline Tuesday from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for three prospects. The Orioles wanted his experience and innings-eating capability down the stretch to bolster a young staff as they try to hold on to first place in the American League East. Toronto's starter on Thursday will be right-hander Kevin Gausman (8-5, 3.10 ERA). Gausman pitched the first five-plus seasons of his 11-year career for the Orioles. In three career starts against them, he is 1-1 with a 4.76. Gausman threw eight innings of two-run ball against Baltimore in a no-decision on May 21. |

08-02-23 | Twins -1.5 v. Cardinals | 3-7 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 46 m | Show
Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said he expects to see a better version of pitcher Joe Ryan during the last two months of the season. Ryan (9-7, 4.06 ERA) hopes to start that process Wednesday night when the Twins face the Cardinals in the middle contest of a three-game series in St. Louis. The Twins recorded a 3-2 win in the series opener on Tuesday night. In his last four starts, Ryan has allowed 16 runs on 24 hits and eight walks in 19 1/3 innings. He didn't make it out of the fourth inning in his last start on Wednesday, an 8-7 loss at home to the Seattle Mariners. Ryan threw 95 pitches to get 11 outs in that game. He struck out seven but allowed seven hits (including two homers) and walked two batters. |

08-02-23 | Padres -1.5 v. Rockies | 11-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 15 m | Show
Musgrove (10-3, 3.05 ERA) will start the finale. He has won nine of his past 10 decisions. Freeland is 1-0 with an 0.82 ERA in two starts against San Diego this season. He's 7-6 with a 4.28 ERA in 22 career appearances (20 starts) vs. the Padres. Trent Grisham (6-for-24) has three homers off Freeland. 08-01-23 | A's v. Dodgers UNDER 9.5 | 3-7 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 37 m | Show
The pitching-starved Los Angeles Dodgers will show off one of their latest acquisitions on Tuesday and hope that veteran right-hander Lance Lynn pitches more to his track record than what he has shown this season. Lynn struggled with the Chicago White Sox this season, with his own bumpy ride mirroring that of his team, which decided to gut its pitching staff last week and start another rebuild. Lynn will make his Dodgers debut against the visiting Oakland Athletics not only with a 9.18 ERA over his last three starts, but also with a major-league-leading 28 home runs allowed, including four against the Minnesota Twins on July 21. In 10 career starts against the A's, Lynn is 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA. Lynn (6-9, 6.47 ERA) did pitch seven scoreless innings on July 6 against the Toronto Blue Jays, leading the Dodgers to believe there is more in the tank for the 36-year-old veteran of 12 seasons, who has a career 3.71 ERA and was an All-Star as recently as 2021. Oakland has not named a starter for Tuesday's game, with left-hander Ken Waldichuk (2-6, 6.38) in line to take the mound. He did not allow an earned run in 4 2/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants last Tuesday. |

08-01-23 | Brewers -1.5 v. Nationals | Top | 6-4 | Win | 108 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
Right-hander Freddy Peralta (6-8, 4.46 ERA) will try to snap Milwaukee's losing streak. Peralta's last three starts have included two outings in which he tossed six shutout innings against the Reds sandwiched around a drubbing by the Braves in which he gave up six runs on six hits over five innings. Peralta, who matched his career high on Wednesday with 13 strikeouts against Cincinnati, is 2-2 with a 7.29 ERA in five career games (three starts) vs. Washington. The Nationals also were busy on the trade front Monday, sending veteran infielder Jeimer Candelario, 29, to the Chicago Cubs for a pair of minor-leaguers -- left-handed pitcher DJ Herz and shortstop Kevin Made. Right-hander Josiah Gray (7-8, 3.27 ERA) will start for Washington on Tuesday. Over his past two starts, Gray is 1-0 and has allowed a total of just one run on six hits and six walks over 13 innings. Gray has never faced the Brewers. |

In the series opener on Tuesday, Detroit's Matt Manning (3-2, 4.32 ERA) and Pittsburgh's Johan Oviedo (4-11, 4.60) are scheduled to start in a battle of right-handers. Oviedo snapped an eight-game losing skid after allowing one run on three hits in six innings Wednesday at San Diego. |

07-31-23 | Diamondbacks +170 v. Giants | 4-3 | Win | 170 | 12 h 58 m | Show
The Giants, who have won four of their last five games, had not officially named their starter for the series opener as of early Monday morning, but it reportedly will be right-hander Alex Cobb (6-3, 2.97 ERA). Cobb is coming off one of his best outings of the season, having shut out the A's on three hits over six innings in a 2-1 Giants home win on Tuesday. He struck out nine and walked one. The 35-year-old will face the Diamondbacks for the second time this season, having shut them out on seven hits for 7 1/3 innings in a 6-2 road win in May. He has gone 3-2 with a 4.93 ERA in seven career starts against Arizona. The Giants haven't done much hitting against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson (6-5, 4.97 ERA) this season. Arizona has won both of his starts against San Francisco. He took a no-decision in a 7-5 home victory in May and the win in a 5-2 triumph at San Francisco in June. Nelson allowed a total of five runs and 10 hits in 11 2/3 innings (3.86 ERA) in those games, his only career appearances against the Giants. |

The Orioles are scheduled to start right-hander Kyle Gibson (9-6, 4.68). Gibson is 6-2 with a 4.46 ERA in 12 career starts against Toronto. The Orioles have also made changes to their pitching staff. They selected the contract of right-hander Joey Krehbiel from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday and optioned struggling right-hander Tyler Wells to Double-A Bowie. In his start against the Yankees on Saturday, Wells lasted only 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on home runs by Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge in the Orioles' 8-3 loss. It was the third straight start in which Wells did not complete five innings. In his past three starts, Wells has allowed 11 runs over nine innings. |
|||||||
07-31-23 | Brewers v. Nationals OVER 8.5 | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 24 m | Show |
Milwaukee ace Corbin Burnes (9-6, 3.46 ERA) will take the mound in the series opener. Over his last five starts, the right-hander is 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA. He has struck out 42 batters and walked 10 in 33 innings during that span. Last time out, Burnes took the loss despite allowing two runs on three hits over six innings against the Reds on Tuesday. Rookie right-hander Jake Irvin (3-5, 4.96) opens the series for Washington. Irvin has struggled as of late, going 1-0 with a 6.32 ERA over his past three starts. In his most recent outing, he gave up four runs on six hits in six innings of a no-decision against the visiting Rockies. He has never faced the Brewers. The Brewers placed right-hander Julio Teheran on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with a right hip impingement, a day after he allowed nine runs on 11 hits in five innings in an 11-5 loss to the Braves. Teheran has lost his last three decisions. |
|||||||
07-30-23 | A's v. Rockies OVER 12 | 0-2 | Loss | -115 | 4 h 14 m | Show
The Athletics plan to send rookie right-hander Luis Medina to the mound for the series finale. Medina (3-7, 5.50 ERA) has pitched well in his past two outings. The Rockies on Sunday plan to start left-hander Ty Blach, who has made one other start this season among his eight appearances. Blach (0-0, 5.51 ERA) made that start in his most recent appearance, blanking the Miami Marlins on two hits over three innings in a no-decision last Sunday. Blach has made three appearances against Oakland in his career, including one start, and is 1-1 with a 1.86 ERA. |
|||||||
07-30-23 | Brewers v. Braves OVER 11 | Top | 6-8 | Win | 100 | 3 h 34 m | Show |
Colin Rea (5-4, 4.53 ERA) will start for Milwaukee on Sunday, looking to cool Atlanta's hot bats. Sunday will mark his first appearance opposite Atlanta since June 2016, when Rea started for the San Diego Padres, and just the right-hander's third time facing the Braves in his career. Rea is 1-0 against Atlanta, with an August 2015 win as a member of the San Diego Padres. He has a 3.55 ERA in his two career starts against Atlanta. Rea is 5-1 in his past six starts that have resulted in decisions, though he didn't factor into the decision in his last three starts. The most recent came July 24 against Cincinnati when he struck out five and allowed two runs -- both earned -- over six innings in a 3-2 Milwaukee win. AJ Smith-Shawver (1-0, 4.32 ERA) was a late announcement as Atlanta's Sunday starter. The rookie right-hander made four appearances for the Braves in June with three starts, the most recent of which came June 23 at Cincinnati. Smith-Shawver pitched 3 1/3 innings against the Reds and gave up five runs, all earned, in the outing. He most recently pitched for Triple-A Gwinnett on July 23. He picked up the win, allowing two hits and no runs with six strikeouts. Sunday will mark Smith-Shawver's first time pitching against Milwaukee. |

The Blue Jays are scheduled to start right-hander Jose Berrios (8-7, 3.40). In eight career starts against the Angels, he is 2-5 with a 7.03 ERA. Toronto put closer Jordan Romano (lower back inflammation) on the injured list Saturday. He was removed from the 4-1 win Friday with two out in the ninth, and the final out was left to Yimi Garcia. Right-hander Nate Pearson was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. The Blue Jays appear set to use a closer committee in Romano's absence. |
|||||||
07-29-23 | Nationals +1.5 v. Mets | Top | 11-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 2 m | Show |
Right-hander Carlos Carrasco (3-4, 5.82 ERA) is slated to start for the Mets against left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-11, 5.01). Carrasco took a loss in his latest start when he gave up five runs on a season-high 10 hits over a season-low 2 1/3 innings as the Mets fell 6-1 to the host Boston Red Sox on Sunday. He is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Nationals. Corbin took a defeat Monday after allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings during the Nationals' 10-6 loss to the visiting Colorado Rockies. He is 7-10 with a 4.41 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) against the Mets. Corbin beat New York on May 15 after yielding two runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out one and walked one in a 10-3 home victory. |
|||||||
07-29-23 | Twins v. Royals UNDER 9.5 | 7-10 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 36 m | Show
Right-handers will take the mound on Saturday as Minnesota's Bailey Ober (6-4, 2.76 ERA) opposes Kansas City's Jordan Lyles (1-12, 6.19). In six career starts against Kansas City, Ober is 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA. He allowed one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Royals on April 29. MJ Melendez has one hit -- a homer -- in nine at-bats against Ober. Ober surrendered three runs (two earned) over six innings in his latest start, a 5-4 win against the visiting Chicago White Sox on Sunday. In five career starts against Minnesota, Lyles is 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA, taking both losses this year. He allowed two runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings on April 1, then was hammered for seven runs in four innings on April 28. |
|||||||
07-29-23 | Guardians v. White Sox UNDER 9.5 | Top | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
Cleveland will send Logan Allen to the mound on Saturday. Allen (4-3, 3.39 ERA) is coming off a Monday home loss to the Kansas City Royals. He allowed five runs, four earned, and seven hits in seven innings with five strikeouts and no walks. The rookie left-hander went 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA in back-to-back May starts against Chicago, logging nine strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings. Chicago had yet to announce its pitcher but is expected to activate right-hander Mike Clevinger from the injured list to make the start. Clevinger (3-4, 3.88 ERA) has not pitched June 14. He landed on the IL with right biceps inflammation two days later. Clevinger, who spent his first four-plus seasons with Cleveland, is 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA in three starts against his former club. He beat the Guardians on May 17, when he gave up two runs on six hits in six-plus innings. He struck out five and walked four. |

07-28-23 | Rangers v. Padres OVER 8 | 1-7 | Push | 0 | 9 h 54 m | Show
Friday's series opener is a match of right-handers -- the Rangers' Dane Dunning (8-3, 3.18 ERA) against the Padres' Joe Musgrove (9-3, 3.25). Dunning will be facing the Padres for the first time in his career. The 6-foot-4 Dunning will be making his 15th straight start after opening the season with eight straight relief appearances. The 28-year-old has seen his ERA climb every month of the season. He is 1-2 in four July starts thus far with a 4.98 ERA. He was 3-0 in five June starts with a 3.62 ERA. On the season, opponents are batting .243 against him. Musgrove had an eight-decision win streak snapped last Sunday in Detroit when he gave up three runs on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings. Still, the 6-foot-5 Padres ace is 7-1 over his last 10 starts with a 2.07 ERA -- giving up 15 runs (14 earned) on 51 hits and 10 walks with 61 strikeouts in 61 innings - 6.1-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The San Diego County native is 5-1 in eight starts at Petco Park this season with a 3.40 ERA and a .230 opponents' batting average. He is 2-3 lifetime against Texas in eight appearances (six starts) with a 3.62 ERA and a .213 opponents' batting average. |

07-28-23 | Yankees -119 v. Orioles | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 51 m | Show |
Orioles rookie right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (2-2, 6.91 ERA) will make his 13th career start and first appearance against the Yankees. In two starts since returning to the majors following nearly two months with Triple-A Norfolk, Rodriguez has allowed six runs in 10 2/3 innings in a pair of no-decisions, but the game at Tampa Bay was encouraging on several fronts. |
|||||||
07-28-23 | Angels v. Blue Jays -1.5 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 108 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
Right-hander Lucas Giolito is set to make his Los Angeles Angels debut on Friday in the opener of a three-game series against the host Toronto Blue Jays. The Angels acquired Giolito and right-handed reliever Reynaldo Lopez from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday in exchange for two prospects. The Angels also confirmed that they would not trade two-way star Shohei Ohtani, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, so the Blue Jays will be facing a team that is hoping to make a playoff run. Giolito is 6-6 with a 3.79 ERA in 21 starts this season. His 131 strikeouts rank 10th in the American League, and he has limited opponents to a .211 average in his past nine starts. Giolito spent 6 1/2 seasons in Chicago's rotation, winning 59 games. He was an All-Star selection in 2019, and threw a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 25, 2020. He is 2-2 with a 5.45 ERA in seven career starts against Toronto. Kevin Gausman (7-5, 3.18 ERA) is slated to start for the Blue Jays on Friday. He is 3-3 with a 4.78 ERA in eight career starts against the Angels. |
|||||||
07-27-23 | Guardians v. White Sox -108 | 6-3 | Loss | -108 | 9 h 46 m | Show
Right-hander Tanner Bibee (6-2, 3.04 ERA) is set to start for the Guardians on Thursday. The rookie hasn't faced the White Sox in his career. Bibee, who is 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA in four July starts, is coming off a 1-0 home victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. In seven innings, he gave up two hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out eight. Chicago right-hander Dylan Cease (4-3, 3.04) will start the series opener. In 11 career starts vs. Cleveland, he is 5-4 with a 3.72 ERA, including a 1-1 mark and a 3.65 ERA in two starts covering 12 1/3 innings this season. |
|||||||
07-27-23 | Cubs v. Cardinals -109 | Top | 10-3 | Loss | -109 | 8 h 24 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Justin Steele has enjoyed more success against the St. Louis Cardinals than against any other opponent this season. He will get another crack at them Thursday when the Cubs face the Cardinals to open a four-game series in St. Louis. Steele (10-3, 2.95 ERA) is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in three starts against the Cardinals in 2023. In his latest outing, the left-hander allowed two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings as the Cubs beat St. Louis 4-3 on Friday. St. Louis will counter Steele with Miles Mikolas (6-5, 4.33 ERA), who will try to rebound from one of his worst starts of the season. The right-hander allowed the Cubs five runs on 11 hits and a walk in five innings during a no-decision on Saturday. |
|||||||
07-27-23 | Angels v. Tigers UNDER 9 | Top | 11-4 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 41 m | Show |
Patrick Sandoval (5-7, 4.16) will start Game 2 for Los Angeles. The left-hander is coming off a strong performance on July 18, when he held the New York Yankees to one run and two hits in 7 1/3 innings. Matt Manning (3-1, 3.19 ERA) had his latest outing interrupted by a rain delay. The 25-year-old righty pitched two scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres on Saturday, but manager A.J. Hinch opted to remove him after the delay lasted more than an hour. |
|||||||
07-26-23 | A's v. Giants UNDER 9.5 | Top | 3-8 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 51 m | Show |
Looking to duplicate Alex Cobb's starting effort will be left-hander Alex Wood (4-4, 4.99 ERA), who would require a reversal of recent form to do so. Wood, 32, pitched twice on the Giants' just-completed trip and never saw the fifth inning, allowing a total of six runs and 10 hits over 7 2/3 innings in his team's 8-4 win at Pittsburgh and 5-3 loss at Washington. He is 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA in five career starts against the Athletics. The A's received 4 2/3 strong innings from Waldichuk in a bulk-innings reliever role in Tuesday's loss. He added to the Giants' recent struggles against left-handers with two of their top right-handed bats -- Thairo Estrada (hand) and Mitch Haniger (forearm) -- out of the lineup with injuries. Oakland will send another lefty, Hogan Harris (2-4, 6.11), to the mound as the club attempts to put some runs on the scoreboard. The A's have been outscored 15-12 while losing four of their past five games. Harris pitched one of the best games of his young career last time out, limiting the Houston Astros to two runs and four hits over six innings in a 3-1 home loss on Thursday. He has yet to face the Giants in his career. |
|||||||
07-26-23 | Orioles +1.5 v. Phillies | 4-6 | Loss | -194 | 8 h 14 m | Show
The Phillies hopes will lean on Wednesday's starting pitcher, left-hander Ranger Suarez (2-5, 4.07 ERA). In his latest start, Suarez allowed eight hits and four runs in five innings against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday, taking a 6-5 loss. He struck out five and walked two. In his lone career start against the Orioles, Suarez took a loss on Sept. 20, 2021, after giving up two runs on seven hits over six innings. The Orioles will give the ball to second-year right-hander Kyle Bradish in the series finale. If nothing else, Baltimore hopes Bradish can give them a shot in the later innings, as the Orioles are 19-10 in one-run games, the third-best mark in the majors. Of course, Baltimore squandered a one-run lead in the ninth on Tuesday. |
|||||||
07-26-23 | Marlins v. Rays -164 | Top | 7-1 | Loss | -164 | 2 h 24 m | Show |
Tampa Bay is going with Zach Eflin (11-5, 3.36 ERA), its most reliable starter. At home, especially, the right-hander has impressed, with a 10-1 record and 2.10 ERA. The Marlins counter with Sandy Alcantara (3-9, 4.70). The 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner, Alcantara has provided innings, logging 126 1/3 in 20 starts, but has lacked consistency. On the road, the 27-year-old is 2-5 with a 4.91 ERA in 11 starts. A telling statistic from a year ago: He had a 2.63 ERA in day game starts. This season, the 6-foot-5 right-hander is 0-5 with a 4.98 ERA in matinees. Eflin has quite a bit of history facing the Marlins, dating to when he pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 16 games (15 starts) against Miami, he is 5-7 with a 4.97 ERA in 88 2/3 innings. Eflin pitched a gem in his last start, tossing seven shutout innings and scattering two hits and a walk while striking out eight in a 3-0 win over the visiting Baltimore Orioles. |
|||||||
07-25-23 | Blue Jays +1.5 v. Dodgers | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 11 h 22 m | Show
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt pitches in the American League East these days, but he has made his mark of late against National League West clubs. Bassitt (10-5, 3.92 ERA) will take the mound Tuesday in the middle game of a three-game road series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It will be the fourth time in six outings he will pitch against an NL West team, and he can only hope this one looks like the other three. In his most recent outing, on Thursday against the San Diego Padres, Bassitt earned the win with six scoreless innings. He has logged seven outings this year in which he tossed scoreless ball while going at least six innings. The effort against the Padres was similar to an outing against the San Francisco Giants on June 29, when Bassitt also went six scoreless innings and registered a career-best 12 strikeouts. In between those two performances, Bassitt also faced the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 15, when he gave up two runs over six innings in another victory. Over his past five appearances, he is 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA. |
|||||||
07-25-23 | Rockies v. Nationals -130 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 38 m | Show |
Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber (8-8, 6.18 ERA) will look to eat some innings when he makes his 21st start of the season on Tuesday. He took the loss in an April 8 matchup with Washington, dropping his career record against the Nationals to 2-2 with a 7.23 ERA in four starts. Gomber won four consecutive starts before suffering a loss against the Houston Astros last Wednesday. On Tuesday, Gomber will be trying to reach the nine-win mark for just the second time in his five seasons in the majors. Right-hander Trevor Williams (5-5, 4.38) is set to oppose Gomber. He was the winning pitcher in the April 8 meeting in Denver, giving up two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings for his first win of the season. Williams is 3-2 with a 4.97 ERA in five career starts against the Rockies. In his most recent outing, Williams allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings against the Chicago Cubs last Wednesday. He settled for a no-decision and hasn't picked up a win since July 2, when he beat the Phillies. |
|||||||
07-25-23 | Marlins v. Rays -190 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 56 m | Show |
In the opener on Tuesday, Miami will go with Edward Cabrera (5-5, 4.50 ERA), while Tampa Bay counters with Tyler Glasnow (3-3, 3.62). Cabrera has faced Tampa Bay just once in his career, allowing three earned runs in three innings (9.00 ERA) of a loss in 2021. Glasnow has an 0-1 mark and 5.28 ERA in three starts against Miami. Both pitchers possess powerful stuff, and putting the ball in play will be a challenge for both offenses. Cabrera has struck out 90 in 72 innings for 11.25 strikeouts per nine innings. Glasnow has been even more overpowering, boasting a 13.17 K/9 after fanning 80 in 54 2/3 innings. The Rays are just 4-14 in July, and the Marlins present a formidable team with their hard-throwing staff. |
|||||||
07-24-23 | Cardinals v. Diamondbacks -105 | Top | 10-6 | Loss | -105 | 16 h 58 m | Show |
Adam Wainwright has looked like a pitcher approaching the end of the line. The 41-year-old Cardinals legend gets the chance to show that there's still life in his right arm when St. Louis visits the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night at Phoenix. Wainwright (3-4, 7.66 ERA) will come off the injured list to make the start against Arizona in the opener of a three-game series. He has been sidelined due to shoulder irritation and will be making his first appearance since July 4. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that Wainwright will throw approximately 65 pitches. Right-hander Ryne Nelson (6-5, 4.82) will be on the mound for Arizona. Nelson, 25, has allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his past four starts. That includes giving up two runs and three hits in seven innings while defeating the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Nelson had one rough outing during the stretch, giving up seven runs and nine hits over three innings of a loss to the visiting New York Mets on July 6. |

07-24-23 | Orioles v. Phillies -116 | 3-2 | Loss | -116 | 13 h 2 m | Show
Monday's scheduled starter Dean Kremer (10-4, 4.80 ERA) has had a hand in the Orioles' success this season. The right-hander is looking to become the AL's fourth 11-game winner, joining Tampa Bay's Shane McClanahan and Zach Eflin as well as Texas Rangers righty Nathan Eovaldi. Kremer, 27, was unsuccessful in his initial bid for his 11th win on Wednesday. He was fortunate to walk away with a no-decision after allowing five runs on four hits -- including two homers -- and four walks in 4 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (0-3, 3.06) will oppose Kremer on Monday. Sanchez, 26, has pitched well but has yet to record his first victory of the season. He allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits in five innings of a no-decision against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. |

07-24-23 | Giants v. Tigers UNDER 8.5 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 37 m | Show |
While the Giants and MLB's websites did not immediately list a starter for Monday's game, numerous Detroit and San Francisco media reports indicated that right-hander Ross Stripling would get the nod. It is his 10th this season and 15th overall appearance. He's coming off his longest outing this season, a six-inning start against Cincinnati on Wednesday. Stripling (0-3, 5.92 ERA) gave up three runs and four hits that day. He gave up a three-run homer in the third but hung around for another three innings. He'll be opposed by lefty Tarik Skubal (0-1, 5.25 ERA), who will make his fourth start after recovering from flexor tendon surgery last August. Skubal pitched four scoreless innings in each of his first two outings, then got hammered for seven runs and eight hits in four innings at Kansas City on Tuesday. Skubal gave up two runs in the third and five more in the fourth. |

07-23-23 | Blue Jays v. Mariners -131 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -131 | 7 h 32 m | Show |
Alek Manoah fell to 2-8, allowing four runs on three hits and five walks in 3.0 innings, as the Toronto Blue Jays lost to the San Diego Padres 9-1 on Tuesday. Manoah did not strike out a batter, ending the game with a 6.18 ERA and 1.84 WHIP on the season. |

07-23-23 | Rockies v. Marlins -1.5 | 2-3 | Loss | -122 | 4 h 7 m | Show
The Marlins, who have the longest active losing streak in the majors, will start left-hander Jesus Luzardo (8-5, 3.34 ERA) on Sunday. Luzardo is 0-1 with a 10.45 ERA in his career against the Rockies. But those statistics feature a small sample size -- just three appearances and one start. This season, the Marlins are 13-7 when Luzardo starts. Luzardo has won his past three decisions and hasn't lost since June 12. Catcher Nick Fortes has been behind the plate for all 20 of Luzardo's starts this year, and that includes a 4-2 record and a 2.43 ERA in 11 home games. Colorado tabbed left-hander Ty Blach (0-0, 6.75) to serve as the opener for Sunday's game. Blach, who has made seven relief appearances this season, is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in four career games (one start) against Miami. |

07-23-23 | Royals +180 v. Yankees | Top | 5-8 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 10 m | Show |
New York's Luis Severino (1-4, 6.66 ERA) will pitch at home for the first time since enduring one of the worst starts of his career. On July 5, in his final start before the All-Star break, Severino was shelled for seven runs and 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings against the Baltimore Orioles, marking the fourth time this season he allowed at least five runs. The Yankees want to see the version of Severino from his last start, when he allowed one run and six hits in six innings during a no-decision Monday against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. Severino is 2-1 with a 4.63 ERA in four career starts against the Royals covering 23 1/3 innings. He last faced them May 1, 2022, in Kansas City, when he surrendered four runs (three earned) and seven hits in five innings in a no-decision. The Royals are going with Jordan Lyles (1-11, 6.05), who has shown better results since losing his first 11 decisions. The losses came in his first 14 starts, when he posted a 6.89 ERA. Since then, he is 1-0 with a 3.13 ERA in four outings, and he has allowed just two homers in that span after giving up 18 during his winless skid. Lyles is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in eight career appearances (seven starts) against the Yankees. Last year, while pitching for the Baltimore Orioles, he was 2-2 with a 4.04 ERA in six starts. |

07-22-23 | Giants -1.5 v. Nationals | 1-10 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 59 m | Show
The Giants have right-hander Logan Webb (8-7, 3.11 ERA) lined up as their starting pitcher for Saturday's game. Webb has sizzled in three July starts, securing a 1.59 ERA in those games though just one victory. Still, San Francisco has won games in six of his past eight starts. Webb allowed one run over seven innings in a 4-1 victory over the Nationals on May 9. He's 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA in four all-time starts when facing Washington. Right-hander Josiah Gray (6-8, 3.59) is set to be Washington's starter on Saturday. Although he pitched well during his one-inning stint in the All-Star Game, Gray's July hasn't been impressive in his two other appearances this month. He yielded nine runs (seven earned) on 18 hits in 10 innings combined in losses to the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals. Gray picked up the win over San Francisco on May 10 after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. He has reached the seven-inning mark just twice since then. Still, in three career meetings (two starts) versus the Giants, Gray is 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA. |

07-22-23 | Diamondbacks v. Reds OVER 10.5 | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 8 m | Show |
The Diamondbacks had not formally announced their starting pitcher for Saturday, but it is expected to rookie right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (0-3, 9.82 ERA), who is with the team. Pfaadt would be making his seventh major league start of the season but first since June 29 against Tampa Bay, a 6-1 loss. In two-plus innings, he allowed six runs and seven hits. Before that start, he last appeared for Arizona in late May. The Reds will counter with another rookie, left-hander Brandon Williamson (1-2, 4.96 ERA). Three of the past four starts he pitched in were impacted by rain. He lasted just two innings in Baltimore on June 26 before the game was interrupted by a rain delay. On July 6, Williamson came out of the game after just three innings at Washington following a long delay. On Monday, he delivered his second quality start of the season, allowing two runs on four hits in six innings before the game against the visiting San Francisco Giants was suspended in the eighth inning due to storms. |

07-22-23 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Rangers | Top | 16-3 | Win | 130 | 4 h 47 m | Show |
Dodgers rookie right-hander Bobby Miller (5-1, 4.25 ERA) is scheduled to start against the Rangers for the first time. Miller experienced right knee discomfort in his last start vs. the Mets on Sunday, but he told MLB.com he's "all good." Against New York, Miller allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. |
