Enough talk! Let’s go! “To get to this game in this league, there’s a lot of things that have to fall right, but these two teams are playing extremely well.”
We have what promises to be a very good game, as the underdog Nick Foles leads the Eagles against the Goliath in Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Now even though the Eagles are the underdogs, that doesn’t mean they can’t come out and win this game. Here are five reasons why they can be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night.
Nick Foles
A couple of weeks ago, Nick Foles didn’t look like a reason that the Eagles could win this game, but after the last game against the Vikings, he looks like a guy who can lead the Eagles to a victory.
Against the Vikings who have one of the top defenses in the league Foles threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

He had been bashed for not being able to throw the deep ball, but in the last game he has thrown that he does have a nice deep ball.
He is also playing with house money. No one expects this guy to be able to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl, so the pressure is actually pretty low, even though he will be playing in the biggest game of his life.
Running Back Duo
The Eagles traded for Jay Ajayi in mid-season, and what a trade it has worked out to be. He and LeGarrette Blount have formed a pretty good one two punch that should give the Patriots some trouble.

They are both big bruising backs that are hard for even the best defenders to bring down. In the NFC Championship game they combined for 94 yards and one touchdown.
Now that might not seem like a lot, but you have to remember how much the Eagles dominated that game, and how they didn’t play much for most of the second half of the game.
The Eagles should be able to establish a run game early, and that should help this team have a lot of success.
Third Down Success
One of the biggest reasons for the success of the Eagles this year has been the success on third down. They ranked third in the NFL on third down conversion rate coming in at 43.58 percent.
Now a lot of people will say a lot of that has to do with Carson Wentz which is true, but Nick Foles has also been good on third down.
In the NFC Championship game the Eagles were 10-14 on third down. Third down conversion is key in winning and the eagles are on the right side of stats in this one.
For the Eagles to win this game they are going to need to be good at moving the chains on third down, and that is something they have been good at this year.
Defensive Line
The strength of this defense is the line, and it has wrecked havoc all year. They don’t allow opponents to rush the ball with much success, and they put pressure on opposing quarterbacks all game long.

Expect them to really try to make Brady uncomfortable early in this game. They are going to be a hassle on the offensive line of the Patriots all night, and that could make Brady really frustrated.
No Pressure
Like I said above about the pressure on Foles, that also spans across the whole team. Most people expect this will be another year of Brady, and a loss by the Eagles wouldn’t be surprising to many.
That has allowed the Eagles to play loose and not have much pressure on them. They can act like this is just another game, even though their might be a little more pressure on this game.
