The NFL season is finally here!
The preseason is over. The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills are ready to see what their seasons hold starting with week one in Buffalo.
Sean McDermott takes over as the Bills head coach and New York returns head coach Todd Bowles for 2017.
Last year, the Bills lost both games against the Jets. The two wins against the Bills were almost half of New York’s victories in 2016.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills brought in former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott. McDermott will inherit a Bills team that went 7-9 in 2016 and 8-8 in 2015 under Rex Ryan. Buffalo lost nine games by seven points or less over the last two season combined.

Expect the Bills to be more discipline and structured under McDermott’s leadership. This will be his first test as a NFL head coach. If the team can be more discipline, Buffalo could be a wildcard sleeper in the AFC this year.
Tyrod Taylor is the starting quarterback again this year for Buffalo, but could start week one on the bench. Taylor and backup TJ Yates are both under concussion protocol. This could mean trouble in week one.
If Taylor and Yates are unavailable, the Bills will be only left with two quarterback on the roster. Nathan Peterman will be ready if called upon as well as newly signed QB Joe Webb. Webb has not completed an NFL pass since 2012.
Rick Dennison takes over as offensive coordinator for Buffalo. He brings new life to a Bills offense that stars Lesean McCoy. McCoy looks to build off last seasons 1,200 plus yards rushing.

Defensively, the Bills ranked 19th on defense the last two years in a row. Former Vikings head coach, Leslie Frazier steps in as the new defensive coordinator in 2017.
Buffalo will run a 4-3 scheme this year. The Bills will be anchored by Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams will lead the defensive line. Shaq Lawson will be at full strength to start the season and should be a key contributor against the Jets.
With the off-season loss of star cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the Patriots, there will be a lot of new faces in the Buffalo secondary.
Micha Hyde was key pick up from the Packers at safety while Tra’Davious White and E.J. Gaines will start at the corners this year for Buffalo.
New York Jets
The Jets have been picked by many to finish with another losing season. Head coach Todd Bowles is definitely on the hot seat right now. He is 15-17 as the head man for the Jets the last two season.
New York failed to pick up a quarterback in the draft this off-season. The Jets will give the ball to NFL veteran Josh McCown to right the ship for the Jets offense. He will see a lot of pressure from the Bills talented defensive line in the road opener.
With the losses of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker to free agency, the Jets receiving core is young and unproven. Robby Anderson will lead the way as the number one wide out for the Jets against the Bills this week.

New offensive coordinator John Morton will have his hands full in this week. With a lack of play makers for the Jets, the team will rely heavily on the defense in week one.
Defensively, the Jets are looking a lot like the offense. They lack leadership and play making ability in the secondary, and are suspect defending the run. Muhammad Wilkerson needs a big year for the Jets, or could be looking for a new home next year.
Morris Claibourne and Buster Skrine should be average this year in the secondary. Juston Burris will be a player to watch in week one. If he can prove to be a solid corner, the Jets have a shot at the upset against a non experienced quarterback in Nathan Peterman.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Under is 8-3 in NYJ last 11 road games.
- Over is 8-0 in BUF last 8 home games.
- Over is 8-0 in BUF last 8 games on turf.
- Over is 10-2 in BUF last 12 games overall.
- Home team is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.

Don’t expect any offensive excitement in this matchup. Both team have overhauled almost everything on both sides of the ball, including coaching staffs.
