The Panthers got a little closer to the second wild card slot in the NFC with a 30–20 win over the Titans at home.
The Packers failed to capitalize on an opportunity to extend their lead in the North Division, instead falling in Los Angeles to the Chargers.
These two playoff hopefuls will meet up in Week 10 in a sneaky good game that sees the home side favored by more than a field goal and less than a touchdown.
Christian McCaffrey scored three touchdowns, including a 58-yard scamper to put the finishing touches on Carolina’s ten-point win on Sunday.
McCaffrey carried 24 times for over 140 yards. He has scored in all but one game this season and has twice as many multi-score games (4) as games with just a single TD (2). He’s a leading MVP candidate at this point, halfway through the Panthers’ season.
Carolina’s defense wasn’t great, though, and it should be wary of what Aaron Rodgers might do to it if Ryan Tannehill threw for 331 yards.
In all, the Titans ran up 431 yards of offense and the game very well may have been different if kicker Ryan Succop hadn’t missed all three of his field goal opportunities.
The road isn’t easy for Carolina, which plays this one at Lambeau, followed by a home tilt against the division-rival Falcons and then a trip to New Orleans.
Green Bay Packers
There isn’t any other way around it: the Packers were stymied by the Chargers’ defense on Sunday afternoon in a 26–11 loss.
Not only were the Packers on a four-game winning streak coming into the game; not only had the offense put up 130 points in those four games; but Davante Adams also made his long-awaited return from a turf toe injury that had him out since Week 4.
Adams caught seven balls but none of them went for anything much and he finished with just 41 yards. The Packers barely broke 200 total yards as a team and a 15-point defeat would have been a lot worse had the defense not held the Chargers to four field goals to start the game.
Green Bay remains in a good spot. Minnesota lost in Kansas City and so the Packers remain a game up in the NFC North. They have this home spot before the bye in Week 11 to get them reset for the home stretch.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Over.
I’ve got it going over because it may take thirty points, or so, to win this one.
Green Bay’s struggles on offense in Los Angeles had every bit to do with the Chargers’ great unit as it did with what the Packers failed to execute. A little home cooking and the Panthers’ porous defense should remedy that.
But Kyle Allen won’t be shaken by Green Bay’s pressure. Ultimately, it will be tough for Carolina to win this game without a stellar defensive effort but I’d still rather play the over than lay a tough five with the home side. I think it could be closer than that.
