Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head this season, the Raptors swept the Cavaliers 3-0, but learned quickly in Game 1 that the Cavs are a very different team with James Harden in the lineup.
The clubs have a playoff history, having faced each other three times in prior seasons, with the Cavaliers dominating with two sweeps and a 4-2 series win. They last played in the 2018 season when LeBron James and Co. took them out, and LBJ famously gave praise to the Scotiabank crowd after the series win.
Coming into the playoffs, the Raptors were 3-2 through their last five matches, while the Cavs arrived on a hot streak, having won five of their last six contests.
Cleveland is favored by nine points while the over/under is 217.5 points.

Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers bottom line:
Donovan Mitchell and James Harden are struggling! Raise your hand if you’ve heard that before in a playoff series.
It highlights what Darko Rajakovic has done to muck up the game and clamp down on the Cavaliers’ backcourt. Scottie Barnes is taking the assignment to stop Mitchell from getting the ball (or at times is defending Harden) to great effect.
Meanwhile, the rookie Collin Murray-Boyles is outplaying both Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.
For Cleveland to get out of this funk, they’ll need to play with more physicality than they have been or deal with the narrative they’re soft (HELLO – they’re soft).

Raptors Cavaliers Free Pick: Raptors +9
Here is my Raptors Cavaliers free pick.
It feels like this series will go the distance, but Cleveland needs their stars to shine as Scottie Barnes has been the best player on the court. He’s getting help from RJ Barrett as the combo has bested Mitchell and Harden.
In fact, Harden has almost as many turnovers (24) as field goals (28) in the series, and was particularly bad in Toronto, where he had 15 turnovers and made just 11 field goals.
Mobley is the other problem, as he played passively in Toronto, allowing the rook to manhandle him. Although he snatched an offensive rebound at the end of Game 4, it was Toronto who got all the key defensive rebounds in clutch time. He’ll need to play like the DPoY winner he was for Cleveland to win.
The key for the Raptors is holding opponents under 120 points. When they do they win and when they don’t they lose. Game 1 only cemented that stat.
It’s now a best-of-three series with Cleveland holding homecourt, where all the games have been won so far. We enter Game 5, knowing that Mitchell or Harden is capable of scoring 50 to propel the Cavs to a win.
But also that Brandon Ingram hasn’t had a typical efficient scoring game yet, and sooner or later is going to realize who the Cavs are defending him with, then end up going off.
Each game, the Raptors seem to have found another defensive twist that is hampering the Cavs, and while I’m leaning toward Cleveland winning, I’ll take the points.

NBA Betting Tweet Of The Day
“I don’t know that there is a long-term fix. For all of the people that continue to say that this team is soft, that this team is weak, mentally, the final 5 minutes of yesterday’s game…that’s why those questions still exist about this team.”
