Spurs vs. Thunder Gameday
It’s the ultimate in sports as the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder reach Game 7 to decide the winner of the Western Conference Finals and a trip to the NBA Finals.
The teams are all even as San Antonio responded to a loss by winning 118-91 in Game 6. Now it’s a winner-take-all as the New York Knicks await their finals’ opponent.
Five Spurs scored in double figures, led by Victor Wembanyama with 28 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. Most of his damage was done in the first half.
It was a rough night for the Thunder, who replicated their poor Game 4 performance, losing by 27 points. Five players scored in double figures, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 15 points on six of 18 from the field.

San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder Odds & Last 5
Last year, the Thunder won the season series two games to one over the Spurs. In this campaign, the squads were scheduled to play four times, but because of the NBA Cup, they played five times in total, with the Spurs thumping them four games to one.
San Antonio has three losses through two series, having beaten the Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 and the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2.
Meanwhile, OKC has yet to lose this postseason, sweeping both the Phoenix Suns and the LA Lakers. With the Thunder finishing with a record of 64-18, they hold home court throughout the playoffs.
And, since the Spurs finished 62-20, they hold the second-best record and therefore whichever team wins this series will have home court advantage in the NBA Finals.
OKC is favored by 3.5 points with an over/under of 212.5 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder bottom line:
This series was projected to go the distance, and the teams didn’t disappoint. While the narrative has too often focused on officiating, it’s been the best series of the postseason.
For this final matchup, we can toss out the superstar spin because both Wembanyama and Gilgeous-Alexander will be fired up to deliver.
Rather, the focus should be on pace and shooting for the Spurs versus the bench for the Thunder. Ultimately, whichever side plays up to its potential will win the night.

Spurs Thunder Free Pick: Thunder -3.5
Here is my Spurs Thunder free pick. Pundits expected this day to come, and fans have been blessed by a competitive, defensive-driven showcase as neither team has disappointed.
Certainly, Wemby has dominated in the three games the Spurs have won, while I’d argue SGA has done the same in the Thunder’s three wins, albeit at a much lower field goal percentage than normal.
Injuries have played a role in the series with De’Aaron Fox missing games and hampered by a wonky ankle, while Dylan Harper was impacted by an abdominal injury that seemed to be feeling better in Game 6, and thus, he was back to being dominant.
Ajay Mitchell is out again for this match, while Jalen Williams returned in Game 6, but was nowhere near his ideal self. In fact, OKC played at their worst with him on the court, which leads to the news he won’t play in Game 7 (see tweet of the day).
This series has the potential to be even more entertaining and competitive than the ultimate NBA Final. To wit, the team that wins the Western Conference Finals will definitely be favored to win the Larry O’B trophy.
Watch for Harper early because if he’s hitting and getting to the basket, it favors the Spurs. Also, keep an eye on Alex Caruso, Jaylin Williams, and Cason Wallace for the Thunder as they’ve been the dominant team when that trio shows up.
I was a game ahead of the pundits, thinking SGA was due for at least one magnificent MVP-type performance, and I’m still of the belief it’s coming. Wemby has been spectacular in the victories but looked fatigued in the Spurs losses. He only played 28 minutes in Game 6, so he should have something in reserve for Game 7.
Truth be told, it’s a bit of a coin toss, but I’ll stick to my guns and go with the Thunder to win and cover since they play better at home (particularly the bench).
