The season did not end well as the Reds suffered some injuries to key guys along the way, ending the year losing 13 of their last 14 ball games.

Key Additions
Scott Schebler, Jose Peraza, Jordan Pacheco
The Reds did not fair well in the offseason moves this season, as they loss key players and did not get much in return. Scott Schebler (outfielder) and Jose Peraza (2nd Base) are two of the players that they received in the deal that sent Todd Frazier to Colorado.
Another key player to note is Jordan Pacheco. All three of these guys will not see action in the major league lineup at first, and will probably be in the minors.
Key Losses:
Todd Frazier, Aroldis Chapman, Brayan Pena
The Reds lost two of their highest profiled players this offseason. Todd Frazier played great last season at third base for the Reds, one of his overall best years.

The Reds also lost their fast baller closer Aroldis Chapman who joined a Yankees staff that is filled with saves. Brayan Pena was the backup catcher for the Reds last season, without injury, this loss will not hurt them.
2016 Reds Predictions – Projected Lineup:
1. Zack Cozart SS
2. Jay Bruce OF
3. Joey Votto 1B
4. Brandon Phillips 2B
5. Devin Mesoraco C
6. Eugenio Suarez 3B
7. Adam Duvall OF
8. Billy Hamilton OF
This Reds lineup will most likely hurt without Frazier in the middle of that lineup. Getting Cozart back will help them out after him getting hurt early in the year last season. I have him in the lead off position, but you can easily switch him and Hamilton in that lineup.
This team is going to be expecting the power that Jay Bruce (26 HR) and Joey Votto (29 HR) brought last season in order for them to be successful. Votto had one of his best seasons last year, hitting .314 in the middle of that lineup.
The bats in this Reds lineup are not strong at all, and mostly under average. They will need people like veteran Brandon Phillips and Devin Mesoraco to hit for a high average in order for this team to do something in the Central.
2016 Reds Predictions – Projected Rotation:
1. Anthony DeSclafani
2. Raisel Inglesias
3. Michael Lorenzen
4. Homer Bailey
5. Brandon Finnegan
With the batting lineup not being up to par with the National League, this pitching rotation is even worst. Not one of these starters in this rotation had a winning record last season.
They will need their one man DeSclafani to throw like he’s a MLB one man this season, and the middle of that rotation to pitch up to par. The veteran Homer Bailey will need to grab the fountain of youth to help this Reds staff out.
2016 Reds Predictions – Projected Bullpen:
- 1. J.J. Hoover
- 2. Blake Wood
- 3. Tony Cingrani
The departure of Chapman is going to kill this bullpen going into the season, as that was all they had. it is really hard to tell how Hoover is going to step up into the closer role without much action before.
Wood and Cingrani will serve as opposite throwing set up man to pace Hoover.
2016 Cincinnati Reds Season Predictions:
This Cincinnati Reds team is really going to hurt from the off-season transactions that did not go in their favor.

The lineup is going need to have a few guys have breakout seasons and the pitching staff will need to pitch lights out at times in order for them to even compete in this competitive National League.
They are going to need do go out and get a player before the trade deadline this season.
My Prediction: The Cincinnati Reds are going to have a very down year this year. I do not see them winning many games with that lineup and the pitching staff supporting it.
I expect them to be at the bottom of the National League Central once again, and have a record similar to last seasons, about 40 games under .500.
