The Bengals had their chance at a first round bye and to give Andy Dalton and extra week to try and get back.
However, a loss to Denver has set things up for them to participate in Wild Card Weekend as they get set to take on the Steelers in Cincinnati on Saturday night.
QB AJ McCarron will get the nod as he looks to defeat a Pittsburgh team that has a healthy Ben Roethlishberger under center.
The division rivals split their season season with both teams winning in each other’s stadiums.
The Steelers needed everything to go right in the final week of the season to get themselves into the playoffs.
Pittsburgh had to go into Cleveland and grab a victory and get some help from the Bills. Everything fell into place as the Steelers took it to the Browns and the Jets fell to the Bills in Buffalo giving the Steelers a berth.
After a season filled with many injuries to key players, making the playoffs is quite the feat. Pittsburgh saw QB Ben Roethlisberger go down not just once, but twice this season. They also saw RB Le’Veon Bell return from suspension only to get a season ending injury.
This first round matchup could not have worked out better for the Steelers as they avoid QB Andy Dalton and go into a place where they’ve had a ton of success. Pittsburgh has gone 16-4 SU in Cincinnati and 15-4-1 ATS in those 20 games.
The Bengals got the worse case scenario out of everything that could have happened.
All they had to do was beat Denver in Week 16 and they’d be looking at a first round bye and likely the return of Andy Dalton in the 2nd round of the playoffs. However, they blew a lead and eventually fell in overtime setting them up for a date on Wild Card Weekend.
Now, QB AJ McCarron will try to lead the Bengals over the Steelers as he looks to get the offense going. McCarron has thrown for four touchdowns in his 3 starts, but he just hasn’t been able to get any kind of momentum going.
Look for the Bengals defense to play the deal breaker in this one. They allow just 17.4 points per game and will look to really get to Ben Roethlisberger in this one. Expect them to stack the box a lot and use many blitz packages here.
In their Week 8 win in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati’s defense forced 3 turnovers from the Steelers QB and held them to just 10 points.

4* Free NFL Wild Card Betting Prediction: Pittsburgh ATS
The Steelers are just too talented for Cincinnati here. McCarron hasn’t played bad, but the Bengals don’t have enough offensive firepower to get things going.
