For the Mavs J.J. Barea shot 7-of-8 from 3-point range and scored 26 points as they posted a 118-111 home win over the Bulls on Dec. 26. Friday night in Chi-town these two teams are set to battle again.
Friday will be a different beast as Dallas was routed 108-89 by the Oklahoma City Thunder in Wednesday’s opener of a 3-game road trip. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle opted to rest his starting five.
Chicago’s Joakim Noah made his first start of the season against Philadelphia and had 16 rebounds and matched his season best of eight assists.
Chicago will be riding the legs of Jimmy Butler in this one however. He is averaging 41.5 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the last 2 games.
I expect a bounce back high energy game from the Mavericks on Friday. Dallas shot 39% from the floor – 6 for 31 from beyond the arc, they’ll be rested and we know Wesley Matthews will be playing mad…which is always good.
Dallas PG Raymond Felton is 9-of-29 shooting during the past four games.
Injuries to the Mavericks saw Zaza Pachulia miss the last game due to a sore Achilles, and Devin Harris. He exited the last game due to a left foot injury and both are questionable to play against the Bulls on Friday.
Carlisle is expected to have Nowitzki, Matthews, Parsons, Williams and Pachulia in the lineup so this should be fun.
Injuries to the Bulls, Pau Gasol missed the last game due to a sprained shoulder and a sore Achilles, plus oft-injured Derrick Rose is hurting of late.
He missed the last game with left patella tendonitis and both are questionable to play against the Mavericks on Friday.
I’m betting Rose plays as all signs point to him being back from his latest injury.
Not enough can be said however about Jimmy Butler’s presence on the court this year. Last game out Butler’s career-best 53 points bailed the Bulls out against lowly Philadelphia.
Butler has led the Bulls to a 5-1 record in their last 6, and is averaging 34.3 points and 6.2 assists. During that span he’s hitting 51.9% from the floor without Rose.

Free NBA Prediction:
How Dirk goes is usually how the Mavericks go and over his last nine games on the road he has put up 20.8 PPG, and he had 22 points and 14 rebounds the last time he played the Bulls.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Dallas ATS
The Mavericks behind Dirk and the fresh legs of their returning players have a big night and cover the number. I like the OVER in this one too.
