The conference semi-finals between the fifth-seeded Dallas Mavericks and West’s top-seeded OKC Thunder tips off on Tuesday. Dallas arrives after defeating the Clippers 4-2 while the Thunder swept the Pelicans.
Two of the three MVP candidates will face each other as Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander try to lead their clubs to the Conference Finals.
Season Series
The Thunder own the all-time advantage of winning 90 out of the 174 prior meetings. Last season the teams played three times with the Thunder taking two of the three contests while this year OKC won three of the four contests.
Since moving from Seattle to OKC the teams have played three times in the postseason with the Thunder victorious in two of the three series. The last occasion was in 2016 so both rosters are completely different for this round.

Don’t sleep on this young squad that plays with poise and has arguably the deepest roster remaining in the postseason. As great as the Wolves have looked defensively it’s OKC who sits at the top of that statistical category this postseason.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (27.3) and Jalen Williams (21.3) lead the scoring but all five starters are averaging 11 points or more.

In the regular season the Thunder ranked third on offense (118.3), and fourth on defense (111.0) while they offered a plus +7.3 net differential registering second overall.
To this point in the playoffs, OKC ranks ninth offensively (109.6) and first defensively (93.5) with a plus +16.2 net differential also ranking second overall.
In terms of the Thunder’s performance against the spread, they are one of the better bets with a 49-36-1 record through 86 matches.
