10-15-22 | Reims +0.5 v. Lorient | 0-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 13 m | Show
High-flying Lorient will go in search of a seventh consecutive victory in Ligue 1 when they welcome managerless Reims to the Stade du Moustoir on Saturday afternoon. Les Merlus came from behind to beat Brest 2-1 last weekend, while the visitors managed to hold 10-man Paris Saint-Germain to a goalless draw. |
|||||||
10-13-22 | Blackhawks v. Golden Knights -1.5 | 0-1 | Loss | -130 | 12 h 21 m | Show
The Golden Knights will try and make it two wins in a row on Thursday when they face the Chicago Blackhawks in Las Vegas in their home opener. Mark Stone, who underwent offseason back surgery to repair a painful nerve injury, fired a wrist shot from the right circle past Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick to help Vegas notch two points. "I was happy for him," Bruce Cassidy said after winning his Golden Knights coaching debut. "You can see how excited the bench was. The Guys were jumping all over the place in Game 1. I think they're excited for Mark to see him back healthy and contributing." Stone, who had a streak of seven seasons with at least 20 goals snapped last season, downplayed the goal postgame. |
|||||||
10-13-22 | Temple v. Central Florida -23 | Top | 13-70 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show |
The Owls have been awful on offense but have played tremendous defense. This team lost 24-3 at Memphis last time out on Oct. 1, and it has been outscored 54-3 in a pair of road games while going 0-2 ATS. The offense ranks just 125th with 282.8 total yards per game. The Knights have scored 27 or more points in 3 straight games, and 4 of 5 games overall. The defense has been tremendous, however, allowing 20 or fewer points in all 5 outings and the Under has hit in 4 in a row. |
|||||||
10-12-22 | Blackhawks +1.5 v. Avalanche | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 65 h 55 m | Show
As is typical for Cup winners, the ensuing offseason salary-cap crunch cost the Avalanche several key contributors: Nazem Kadri, Darcy Kuemper, and Andre Burakovsky. Evan Rodrigues and new starting goaltender Alexandar Georgiev aren’t equal replacements, but the Avalanche still have so many elite players that there’s no reason to worry. Nathan MacKinnon (now locked up through 2031), Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen are three of the best forwards in the league, Valeri Nichushkin and Artturi Lehkonen are two of the best defensive forwards in the league and defenseman Cale Makar might be the best player in the league, period. Few, if any, teams can stack up to that. Night one we will go with Chicago to keep this close. |
|||||||
10-12-22 | UL-Lafayette v. Marshall -7.5 | 23-13 | Loss | -110 | 61 h 48 m | Show
Going into last weekend on a two-game losing streak (34-31 at Bowling Green, 16-7 at Troy), the Marshall Thundering Herd got back into the win column at home against FCS Gardner-Webb 28-7. They defeated the Bulldogs thanks to a complete performance from both the offensive and the defensive units, racking up 421 yards of offense while giving up just 143. Running back Khalan Laborn and cornerback Steven Gilmore were the stars of the game last Saturday, as the former gashed Gardner-Webb for 191 yards and two scores on 35 carries while the latter intercepted two passes. |
|||||||
10-12-22 | Blue Jackets +1.5 v. Hurricanes | 1-4 | Loss | -130 | 61 h 0 m | Show
Stunning the NHL by landing “Johnny Hockey” and re-signing Patrik Laine were great strides. And while Johnny Gaudreau and Laine have juiced Blue Jackets’ ticket sales for this season, it’s going to take more than a dynamic duo for a roster “reset” that began in 2020-21 to yield a playoff return. The Jackets’ supporting cast also needs significant improvement. |
|||||||
10-11-22 | Padres +1.5 v. Dodgers | 3-5 | Loss | -108 | 9 h 54 m | Show
After debating the merits of a pair of left-handers as his Game 1 starter -- Julio Urias or Clayton Kershaw -- Roberts announced Monday that Urias (17-7, 2.16 ERA) will take the series opener. "I think for us you could essentially flip a coin," Roberts said. "They're both aces in our eyes. I just think that Julio has been fantastic for us all year. Kind of just making that decision to give him that opportunity, we all felt good about it. And Clayton feels good about starting Game 2." Urias dominated the Padres in four starts this season, going 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA over 24 innings. Three of those starts came in September when Urias went 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA. In 15 career appearances (10 starts) against San Diego, Urias is 6-1 with a 2.19 ERA (61 2/3 innings). The Padres won just five of the 19 regular-season games played against the Dodgers and just three of the 12 that came after they added Juan Soto, Josh Bell, and Josh Hader at the trade deadline. |
|||||||
10-11-22 | Mariners +1.5 v. Astros | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 3 h 37 m | Show
Similar to Houston, Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert (13-6, 3.20) -- the Mariners' scheduled starter for Game 1 -- is coming off an extended rest. Had the Mariners not rallied from a seven-run deficit in Game 2 of their wild-card series against the Blue Jays, Gilbert would have been slated to start the finale of that series. Instead, he'll get the ball Tuesday having last pitched on Sept. 30. |
|||||||
10-10-22 | Raiders +7 v. Chiefs | Top | 29-30 | Win | 100 | 16 h 14 m | Show |
The Raiders have been playing in close games lately, with their last nine games all decided by a single-digit margin (including playoffs). That's one shy of tying the franchise record of 10 straight, done twice (1975-76 and 1998-99).
|
|||||||
10-10-22 | Ottawa +7 v. Montreal | 24-18 | Win | 100 | 6 h 8 m | Show
The Alouettes, who are on a season-high three-game winning streak — and with victories in five of their last six — would clinch a home playoff date with a win, ensuring they can finish no lower than second in the East Division. William Stanback was the CFL’s leading rusher last season, along with the division nominee as the most outstanding player. But it appeared his season might be over — along with Montreal’s aspirations at the same time — when he suffered the horrific injury that required surgery on June 9 at Calgary. The best-case scenario had Stanback returning for the playoffs, and when Montreal started the season with a 2-6 record, that looked like a pipe dream. But the Alouettes’ fortunes have reversed, and the 28-year-old Stanback is returning slightly ahead of schedule with four games remaining. |

10-09-22 | Eagles v. Cardinals +5.5 | 20-17 | Win | 100 | 7 h 11 m | Show
No NFL quarterback has struggled quite as much this season as Carolina's Baker Mayfield. The bumpy road isn't expected to get any smoother on Sunday for the 2018 No. 1 overall draft pick. Mayfield, who is last in the NFL in ESPN's total quarterback rating, leads the league's worst offense against its top-ranked defense when the Panthers (1-3) host the San Francisco 49ers (2-2). Mayfield joined the Panthers in July after a trade with the Cleveland Browns. He has struggled mightily, completing a league-low 54.7% of his passes while being limited to 186.7 yards passing per game with four touchdowns and three interceptions. |

10-09-22 | Dolphins v. Jets +3.5 | 17-40 | Win | 100 | 70 h 43 m | Show
The Dolphins began the season 3-0 with big wins over the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, and Bills. However, last week in Cincinnati was a different story. Miami not only lost the game, but they lost starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as well. In their week three matchup against the Bills, Tagovailoa hit the back of his head on the ground and stumbled as he attempted to return to the huddle. He was then taken to the locker room for a concussion evaluation, which he passed. Tua returned to the game in the second half and led Miami to a win. Tagovailoa started at quarterback for Miami four days later in their Thursday night matchup against the Bengals. For the second week in a row, he hit his head on the ground. But this time, he wasn’t able to get up off the field. A stretcher carried him off the field and he was rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Tagovailoa was discharged from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was allowed to fly home with the team on Friday morning. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Tua will remain out with no timetable for return. |

10-09-22 | Falcons +10.5 v. Bucs | 15-21 | Win | 100 | 70 h 34 m | Show
After getting off to a rocky start on the year the Falcons are bouncing back. They started with two close losses by a combined five points. Since then, the Birds are flipping the script. They continue to play close games, but come out n the winning side. A road win against the Seahawks by four got them in the win column in week three. Last week, they pulled out a three-point game at home over the Browns. The defense sealed the deal with a huge Dee Alford INT with just around a minute left. |
|||||||
10-09-22 | Seahawks v. Saints -5 | 32-39 | Win | 100 | 3 h 29 m | Show
Saints running back Alvin Kamara is having trouble recognizing his own team lately. New Orleans (1-3) has fumbled, stumbled and fouled its way through a three-game losing streak. The Saints - who haven't had a losing season since drafting Kamara in 2017 - are trying to clean up their act before hosting Seattle (2-2) on Sunday. |
|||||||
10-09-22 | Giants +9 v. Packers | Top | 27-22 | Win | 100 | 66 h 19 m | Show |
Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur has done the London trip twice before as an offensive coordinator and "didn't leave the hotel either time." Safe to say he'd prefer star quarterback Aaron Rodgers - a Manchester City fan - not try to venture north for the Premier League champion's home game Saturday (though Rodgers could satisfy his soccer fix Friday night when the U.S. women's team faces European champion England in a friendly at Wembley Stadium). The Packers' schedule for their first-ever international regular-season game doesn't leave much time for sightseeing. Same goes for the New York Giants (3-1). Both teams are scheduled to arrive in the British capital Friday morning ahead of Sunday's game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Rodgers, a four-time MVP, had hoped the Packers (3-1) would arrive earlier in the week "to experience a little bit of that culture" but he knows ultimately it's a business trip - a long-awaited one at that. |
|||||||
10-08-22 | Dartmouth +4 v. Yale | 21-24 | Win | 100 | 1 h 52 m | Show
The 2022 Bulldogs are off to a solid start to the season. Yale has a 2-1 record heading into Saturday’s game against Dartmouth. That game now takes on new meaning after the Bulldogs revealed an incredible one-off uniform commemorating their 150th anniversary. There’s no denying the impact Yale has had on college football and the sport as a whole. The Bulldogs may not be the powerhouse that they once were. But it’s clear that people are still paying attention to the historic program. That is unless, of course, you’re at Harvard. |
|||||||
10-06-22 | Colts +3.5 v. Broncos | Top | 12-9 | Win | 100 | 10 h 23 m | Show |
Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan can sure feel each other's pain. None of the nine NFL teams that changed quarterbacks this season has a winning record heading into October. Two of them square off Thursday night when Ryan's beleaguered Indianapolis Colts (1-2-1) visit Wilson's banged-up Denver Broncos (2-2). Both QBs have found a rough transition to their new teams and both are missing key offensive and defensive players on a short week. Ryan has eight turnovers in four games, has been sacked 15 times and fumbled nine times in his first season since leaving Atlanta. Wilson is off to the slowest start of his career with just four TD passes in his first season out of Seattle. New surroundings, new teammates, new terminology are all hurdles that even former MVPs such as Ryan or Super Bowl winners such as Wilson have to overcome. |
|||||||
10-06-22 | Union Saint-Gilloise +0.75 v. Sporting Braga | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 2 h 17 m | Show
Seeking to pick up a fourth consecutive win for the first time since December 2021, Union SG square off against Braga at the Estadio Braga Municipal in Group D of the Europa League. The home side head into the midweek clash fresh off the back of suffering their first defeat of the season and will be looking to quickly bounce back to winning ways. |
|||||||
10-06-22 | Betis +0.75 v. Roma | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 2 h 3 m | Show
There are some significant absentees for the visitors, including Georginio Wijnaldum, Nicolo Zaniolo, Marash Kumbulla and Stephan El Shaarawy. Nicola Zalewski became the latest addition to the infirmary for Roma after picking up an injury against Ludogorets. Tammy Abraham is back from a shoulder injury and should start. Ebrima Darboe, meanwhile, faces a late fitness test. Injured: Georginio Wijnaldum, Nicolo Zaniolo, Marash Kumbulla, Stephan El Shaarawy, Nicola Zalewski Doubtful: Ebrima Darboe |
|||||||
10-06-22 | PSV v. Zurich +1 | 5-1 | Loss | -125 | 0 h 29 m | Show
Zurich are the reigning champions of the Swiss Super League, but they have been in such a mess lately. They are on a long stretch of poor performances, and are under huge pressure. Meanwhile, PSV are on a great streak of results, and are easily the favorites this Thursday. They started their European campaign kind of slow, as they recorded a draw in their opener against Bodo. However, they are in great form in the Dutch top flight. Currently they are placed third in the table, and they have a 100% winning record barring just two fixtures. They also scored the most number of goals of all the teams in the competition, and need a surplus of just two points to climb level with the toppers. Even the earlier season they missed out on the title by a whisker. They were short of just two points below the champions. Meanwhile, Zurich are currently the worst team in the Swiss top flight. They are placed bottom-most in the table, and they have a 100% winless record so far. In fact, barring just three draws, they have a 100% losing record. They are also letting in goals in huge numbers, and even so in front of their home crowd. |
|||||||
10-05-22 | Angels -1.5 v. A's | 2-3 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 8 m | Show
It might turn out to be too little, too late, but Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani gets a chance to make a final impression on American League Most Valuable Player voters Wednesday. Ohtani gets an opportunity to both hit and pitch in the Angels' regular-season finale against the host Oakland Athletics. Starting pitching has been dominant in the first two games of the series between AL West also-rans, with three of the four starters -- including both Tuesday -- calling it a night after throwing six shutout innings. Oakland (59-102) rallied from a 4-0 deficit with two in the eighth, two in the ninth and one in the 10th for a 5-4 win Monday. Ohtani took a crack at evening the series with a blast to center field with two aboard in the 10th of a 1-1 tie Tuesday. But A's center fielder Seth Brown hauled in the bid for extra bases just before crashing into the wall, sending Oakland to the plate, where Shea Langeliers' bases-loaded walk ended a 2-1 victory. Brown, who had two hits and three RBIs in Monday's win before driving in the A's' only regulation run in the rematch, admitted Ohtani's powerful reputation got the better of him on his attempt at another heroic feat Tuesday. |

10-04-22 | Jazz +1 v. Blazers | 118-101 | Win | 100 | 1 h 33 m | Show
Justise Winslow will start at small forward as the Portland Trail Blazers host the Utah Jazz this evening. Coach Chauncey Billups has previously highlighted his plan to rotate through potential starting small forward through the preseason, with Josh Hart getting the nod against the Los Angeles Clippers last night. Billups has also hinted at Nassir Little and potentially Gary Payton II also starting at the three, however, the latter is still recovering from a core muscle complaint. |
|||||||
10-03-22 | Rams v. 49ers | Top | 9-24 | Win | 100 | 30 h 36 m | Show |
The stakes will be far lower when the Los Angeles Rams visit the San Francisco 49ers for the third meeting between the teams this calendar year. The intensity is always high when these NFC West rivals meet. Ever since good friends Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan took over as coaches in Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2017, the franchises have used each other as measuring sticks. That will be no different on Monday night when the Rams (2-1) visit the 49ers (1-2). "A lot of these games over the last couple of years have been deciding factors for playoff seeding, home-field advantage, obviously an NFC championship thrown into the mix. So they've always had a huge level of importance," Niners right tackle Mike McGlinchey said. "We know each other very well. It's been a lot of the same core guys down there, it's been a lot of the same core guys up here. So it's always a fun battle." The Rams have had better team success with four playoff berths, two Super Bowl appearances and the title last season. The Niners have had the edge in the head-to-head battle, winning the past six regular-season matchups, including a Week 18 game last January that got them into the playoffs. But the Rams got their revenge a few weeks later when they beat San Francisco 20-17 in the NFC title game on the way to their Super Bowl victory. "We could talk about all those different games, but I think at the end of the day what it boils down to is they've played well, they've made the plays in crunch time," McVay said. "I think the ultimate thing that's really important for us is each game is its own separate entity. ... But we know that this game is going to be different than the other ones. We've got to be able to show up, and play well in that three-hour window. That's what our focus and concentration will be solely focused on. No different than when we had to play them for the third time last year." JIMMY BOUNCEBACK Garoppolo's first start after Trey Lance went down with a season-ending ankle injury for San Francisco turned out to be a dud. Instead of building off a promising relief appearance in Week 2, Garoppolo looked rusty after no offseason work and showed the flaws that led the Niners to make the big move to acquire Lance last season. He missed on a few chances at big plays in the first half, then turned it over twice in the second half, as well as stepping out of the end zone for a safety in the 11-10 loss to Denver. |
|||||||
10-02-22 | Bills v. Ravens +3.5 | Top | 23-20 | Win | 100 | 25 h 43 m | Show |
The Ravens lost their first home game versus the Bills (13-10 on Halloween in 1999) but they're 5-0 against them in Baltimore since then, holding Buffalo to seven or fewer points four times, including the most recent game, a 47-3 Ravens win in the 2018 season opener.
|
|||||||
10-02-22 | Jaguars +7 v. Eagles | 21-29 | Loss | -130 | 25 h 34 m | Show
Jacksonville has started the season 2-1 for the first time since 2018 and has scored 84 points over the three games. That is the third-most points scored through three games of a season in team history (98 in 1997 and 89 in 2017).
|
|||||||
10-02-22 | Vikings v. Saints +3.5 | 28-25 | Win | 100 | 20 h 49 m | Show
Get to London early in the week, bond as a team, then try to snap a losing streak. New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen has been here before, in 2014 when his then-Oakland Raiders lost 38-14 to the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium. They slipped to 0-4 and it was their 10th straight loss overall. Allen was fired the next day. The Saints (1-2) arrived on Monday in the British capital and brought with them a banged-up quarterback and a two-game losing streak as they prepare to play the Minnesota Vikings (2-1) on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the NFL's first international game this season. |
|||||||
09-30-22 | Pirates v. Cardinals -1.5 | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 47 m | Show |
Pitcher Johan Oviedo will get his first chance to face his old team when the Pittsburgh Pirates visit the St. Louis Cardinals Friday. Oviedo (4-2, 3.13 ERA) will start for Pittsburgh in the opener of a three-game series. The Cardinals (90-66) sent Oviedo and infield prospect Malcom Nunez to the Pirates (59-97) for pitchers Jose Quintana and Chris Stratton before the trade deadline. Oviedo is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in five starts for the Pirates. In his last outing, Oviedo blanked the Chicago Cubs for seven innings on three hits in a 6-0 victory. He walked nobody and struck out seven batters. |
|||||||
09-30-22 | Orioles v. Yankees -1.5 | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
During the New York Yankees' three-game series in Toronto to start the week, Aaron Judge achieved the dual goals of helping his team win the American League East and hitting his 61st home run. After tying the AL single-season homer mark set by Roger Maris in 1961, Judge gets his first crack at setting breaking the record at home on Friday night when the Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles. No team has served up more homers to Judge in his career than the Orioles -- 35 long balls in 84 games. He has nine long balls in 15 games vs. Baltimore this year, also his highest total against any opponent. Judge went 34 plate appearances spanning seven games without going deep until he hit a go-ahead two-run shot in New York's 8-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Judge's blast came a night after the Yankees (96-59) secured the division title and lifted New York to its ninth win in 10 games. |
|||||||
09-30-22 | Tulane v. Houston -2.5 | Top | 27-24 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 1 m | Show |
Houston tries to weed out problems in meeting with Tulane Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen is looking for an all-around improvement from his Cougars, and not all of it has to do with them splitting the first four games of the season. After starting the campaign ranked No. 24, the season started on a high note for Houston, after beating UTSA 37-35 in three overtimes. But now, it there may be tension within the program. The Cougars (2-2) will look to sort out some of those problems when they host American Athletic Conference foe Tulane (3-1) Friday night in the conference opener. In his fourth year at Houston's helm, Holgorsen has become frustrated with his squad. |
|||||||
09-30-22 | Phillies -1.5 v. Nationals | Top | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 54 m | Show |
The remnants of Hurricane Ian that are forecasted to bring inclement weather to the Washington, D.C. area changed the schedule of the Washington Nationals four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend. The teams will open the series with a doubleheader on Friday, with the first game starting at 1:05 p.m. ET, after a doubleheader was originally planned for Saturday. They will play Friday's scheduled game at 7:05 p.m., with Saturday's lone game set for 1:05 p.m. and Sunday's finale scheduled for 1:35 p.m. The Phillies (83-72), who are locked in a tight race with the Milwaukee Brewers for the final National League wild-card spot, have defeated the Nationals (54-101) eight straight times and in 13 of their 15 meetings this year. Philadelphia, however, has lost five straight games and 10 of its past 13 after falling 2-0 to the host Chicago Cubs on Thursday. |
|||||||
09-29-22 | Dolphins v. Bengals -3.5 | 15-27 | Win | 100 | 6 h 33 m | Show
The Miami Dolphins outlasted the Buffalo Bills last week to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2018. The early going for the Cincinnati Bengals has been surprising, too, but in a different way. The defending AFC champions lost their first two games before rediscovering their 2021 chemistry and beating the New York Jets 27-12 on Sunday. The Dolphins snuck out of last week's hyped showdown with a 21-19 win over the Bills thanks to some clock mismanagement at the end. Buffalo ran out of time trailing by two points and trying to get in position for a potential game-winning field goal. |
|||||||
09-28-22 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Padres | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 55 m | Show
Despite the loss last night, the Dodgers still own the Padres overall and in San Diego. I can't go against a team that has won 38 of their last 54 meetings and 7 of 10 at Petco. |
|||||||
09-27-22 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Padres | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 16 h 28 m | Show |
The Los Angeles Dodgers and host San Diego Padres, two teams with different priorities in the stretch run, square off on Tuesday to open their final head-to-head series of the regular season. For the Padres, the goal is clear: Reach the postseason as a wild card. As it stands right now, they would do just that. San Diego (85-68) currently holds the second of three National League wild-card berths and is three games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers (82-71), who sit just outside the playoff picture behind the Philadelphia Phillies (83-69). The Padres' magic number is six, and they have an added edge with all nine of their remaining regular-season games at home. The Dodgers (106-47) clinched the No. 1 seed for the NL playoffs with their 106th win on Sunday. What are they playing for? Total domination -- and history. They have matched the single-season franchise record for wins, and a victory on Tuesday would set a new mark. |
|||||||
09-26-22 | Cowboys v. Giants | Top | 23-16 | Loss | -125 | 14 h 36 m | Show |
The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are going to renew their NFC East rivalry on Monday night, -and this one might be an indication of whether the times are changing. The Cowboys, the defending division champions, have owned the Giants the last five years. The teams have played 10 times and Dallas has won nine. This season has gotten off to an interesting start, though. Dallas has split two games and saw quarterback Dak Prescott undergo thumb surgery after the season opener. How long the star quarterback will be sidelined is uncertain, but Cooper Rush will be running the offense against the surprising Giants. New York, which won four games last year, is halfway to that total after knocking off Tennessee and Carolina in Brian Daboll's first two games as coach. Beating Dallas in a nationally televised game would be another step toward respectability after five straight losing seasons. |

09-25-22 | 49ers v. Broncos +2 | Top | 10-11 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The only difference the San Francisco 49ers see in longtime nemesis Russell Wilson isn't in his game but his gear. "It's so weird seeing him in a new uniform," linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair said. "But he's the same exact guy." Kyle Shanahan thinks so, too. "I see the same stuff I've seen going against him in Seattle for the last 10 years. (It's just that) they've just come up short on a couple of touchdowns there," said San Francisco's coach, who brings a 2-8 record against Wilson into Sunday night's showdown between the 49ers (1-1) and Broncos (1-1). Shanahan pointed to Wilson's 35-yard fourth-quarter dart to Courtland Sutton on third-and-16 last week as evidence the 33-year-old QB still has it. |
|||||||
09-25-22 | Jaguars +3.5 v. Chargers | Top | 38-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 27 m | Show |
There's plenty to like about a matchup between quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert. Not only are they at the top of the list for the league's best hair, but both are the leaders of their respective franchises. The biggest question, though, going into Sunday's matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers is if they will face each other for the first time. Herbert is listed as questionable after not practicing Friday and being limited Wednesday and Thursday due to fractured rib cartilage. The injury happened after he took a hit from Kansas City's Michael Danna during the fourth quarter of last Thursday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. After not making any passes Wednesday, Herbert took his normal amount of throws Thursday during the individual session of practice open to reporters. If he plays, Herbert will wear a rib protector, but could also receive an injection to deal with the pain. Herbert's status will likely not be fully resolved until Sunday morning. |

09-24-22 | Toronto v. Ottawa +2 | 45-15 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 26 m | Show
A Toronto win combined with Hamilton’s loss Friday night in Montréal would clinch a playoff spot for the Argos. If Ottawa wins, that would move them into the mix with all three rivals. The winner of Saturday’s game will capture the season series — Ottawa won 23-13, then lost 24-19 two weeks ago at home — and gain the tiebreaker edge. |

09-24-22 | Rice v. Houston -17.5 | 27-34 | Loss | -108 | 6 h 14 m | Show
A puzzling disappointment so far, the team that seemed like it would be the best among the Group of Five programs is 1-2 and probably should be 0-3. There are way too many penalties, and the offensive line hasn’t been strong, but the secondary should be able to pick off a few passes – Rice has given up seven interceptions so far – and the team is scoring. Rice doesn’t generate tackles for loss, and the Cougar backfield should get time to operate. Louisiana wasn’t able to get anything going against the Owls |

09-24-22 | Central Michigan v. Penn State -28 | Top | 14-33 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 34 m | Show |
After an eye-opening performance on the road, the big question for No. 14 Penn State is how much of an emotional letdown there may be. The Nittany Lions (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) turned in one of the most impressive performances of the young season last week with a 41-12 road win at SEC foe Auburn, but now must refocus for a game against a Group of Five opponent when Central Michigan visits University Park, Pa., for a noon kickoff on Saturday. Of all the things that stood out for Penn State in the win at Auburn, maybe the most noticeable was the way the Nittany Lions ran the ball. Penn State struggled with its offensive line play and running game last year, but completely controlled Auburn's defensive line, rushing for 245 yards on 6.3 per carry. True freshman Nicholas Singleton was the biggest beneficiary of Penn State's improved line play, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Freshman Kaytron Allen, sophomore Keyvone Lee and junior Devyn Ford have flanked Singleton in what is a deep group of running backs for Penn State. "We're getting better up front and at tight end," Penn State head coach James Franklin said after the game. "We're doing some things speed-wise to help them. The ability to be more balanced and take pressure off the passing game, I think it's been really important for us. We also have some dynamic backs that help create some explosive plays." Penn State's offense has averaged more than 40 points a game to start the season. |

09-23-22 | Mets -1.5 v. A's | 9-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 29 m | Show
Chris Bassitt makes his return to the site of 13 previous wins when he and the New York Mets continue their pursuit of the National League East title against the host Oakland Athletics on Friday night. The teams kick off a three-game series. The Mets (95-56) had Thursday off to fly to Oakland, where they were able to relax and watch as the Atlanta Braves, who began the day one game behind, lost to the Philadelphia Phillies. New York had a six-game winning streak snapped Wednesday in a 6-0 home loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. One of the wins was authored by Bassitt (14-8, 3.32 ERA), who earned his career-best 14th victory with six innings of shutout ball in a 5-1 home triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. The 33-year-old has gone 7-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last nine starts. Bassitt was an All-Star when he went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA for the A's last season. He was 30-24 for the A's, including 13-13 at home, over six seasons before being dealt to the Mets in March for pitchers J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller. The A's (55-95) and Mets are meeting for the first time since the trade. |

09-22-22 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -1.5 | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 59 m | Show |
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias will turn in some final prep work in advance of next month's playoffs, while attempting to help his Cy Young Award cause, when he takes the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Expected to be the club's No. 1 starter when the postseason begins, Urias (17-7, 2.27 ERA) will be out to continue an impressive second half that has eased concerns surrounding the National League West champions. The Dodgers lost staff ace, Walker Buehler, earlier this season to Tommy John surgery, while veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw has been off and on the injured list with back issues. So Urias moved himself to the head of the rotation, thanks to a 9-1 record with a 1.31 ERA since the All-Star break. He leads the NL in ERA. Urias now has a chance to record consecutive 20-win seasons after reaching the milestone for the first time last season. He remains in line for three more starts before the regular season is complete. In his most recent outing Saturday at San Francisco, Urias gave up two runs on five hits over six innings as the Dodgers went on to a 7-2 victory. |

09-22-22 | Steelers v. Browns -4 | Top | 17-29 | Win | 100 | 6 h 48 m | Show |
For the first time since 2004, Ben Roethlisberger isn't part of the Steelers-Browns rivalry, a matchup the Ohio-born-and-bred quarterback dominated for 18 seasons and will now watch with everyone else. On Thursday night, Mitch Trubisky makes his debut in one of the NFL's fiercest feuds. A second appearance isn't guaranteed. Struggling to connect with Pittsburgh's receivers, Trubisky, chosen as the starter in training camp over rookie quarterback-in-waiting Kenny Pickens, may look to take some deep shots downfield when the Steelers (1-1) visit a Browns team still reeling from an epic collapse in their home opener on Sunday. Trubisky is ranked 32nd in yards per attempt, one of several troubling stats for him after just two games and perhaps a reflection on the 28-year-old being more of a game manager than game changer. Still, Trubisky, who grew up in Northeast Ohio but was never particularly keen on the Browns (1-1), is confident he'll soon begin hooking up with Pittsburgh's talented, but to this point underused, receivers. |

09-22-22 | West Virginia -2.5 v. Virginia Tech | Top | 33-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show |
West Virginia (1-2) ignited its offense by scoring on all 10 of its possessions (nine touchdowns, one field goal) in a 65-7 romp over FCS foe Towson on Saturday. Freshman CJ Donaldson found the end zone on three occasions during the first half, including an 82-yard scamper down the sideline. He has rushed for 274 yards and six touchdowns in three games this season. Fellow running back Tony Mathis Jr. scored two first-half touchdowns on Saturday before finishing with 104 yards on 17 carries. |

09-22-22 | Astros -1.5 v. Orioles | 0-2 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 4 m | Show
It could be a rewarding series on several levels for the Baltimore Orioles in the coming days. Looks like a challenging one as well. The Houston Astros will arrive to take on the Orioles in a four-game series, beginning Thursday night in Baltimore. There's lots at stake for the Orioles in their quest to reach the American League playoffs. Houston (99-51) might be in cruise control, though there appears to be no let-up. The Astros, who'll reach the 100-win mark with their next victory, have won four in a row and 10 of their last 11 games. At least the Astros did the Orioles a favor this week by sweeping three games from the Tampa Bay Rays, who are one of the team's Baltimore (77-71) is chasing in pursuit of a spot in the playoffs. There's also another element that could endear Baltimore fans to the Astros. Popular designated hitter Trey Mancini, who was traded to Houston from the Orioles at the trade deadline, will be back at Camden Yards for the first time in an opposing uniform. |

09-22-22 | Giants -1.5 v. Rockies | 3-0 | Win | 130 | 1 h 13 m | Show
Coors Field typically gives the Colorado Rockies an inherent advantage even in the worst seasons. The thin air helps Colorado consistently finish with winning home records. This season, though, the Rockies (64-85) are in danger of finishing with a losing record in Denver. Colorado is 40-37 at Coors Field and has dropped the first three games of a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants, who will shoot for the sweep Thursday afternoon. The Rockies will send right-hander Jose Urena (3-6, 5.49 ERA) to the mound. The Giants announced late Wednesday that right-hander John Brebbia (6-2, 2.86) would serve as an opener for the second time in three days. One of Urena's wins this season came against San Francisco on Aug. 19, when he tossed 6 2/3 innings of three-run ball. In six career games -- four of them starts -- against the Giants, he is 2-1 with a 4.68 ERA. Urena's 15th start with Colorado will be overshadowed by the expected major league debut of shortstop Ezequiel Tovar, who is getting called up from the minors. |

09-20-22 | Red Sox -1.5 v. Reds | Top | 5-3 | Win | 141 | 7 h 53 m | Show |
Xander Bogaerts' future with the Boston Red Sox may be uncertain, but he certainly has goals to achieve as his team plays out the string of an underachieving season. Bogaerts has his sights on his first career batting title and he'll continue his pursuit of the milestone when the Red Sox open a two-game set against the host Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Bogaerts entered Monday's play with a .316 average, which was tied for second in the American League with Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees. Luis Arraez of the Minnesota Twins has a league-best .317 average. Bogaerts said the batting title race will keep him focused down the stretch of a lackluster season for Boston (71-75). |

09-20-22 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -1.5 | 5-6 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 33 m | Show
Closing in on the franchise record for victories, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in position to pick up two more when they play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday. The Dodgers earned their 102nd victory Monday, against 44 defeats, and are five away from posting the highest total in franchise history, going all the way back to 1884 when the club called Brooklyn home. The Dodgers have reached 106 victories twice, both in the past three seasons. Even without staff ace Walker Buehler, who is sidelined following undergoing Tommy John surgery, the Dodgers have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Left-hander Tyler Anderson has helped pick up some of the slack and will pitch in the doubleheader nightcap, while rookie right-hander Michael Grove will pitch for Los Angeles in the opener. Anderson (15-3, 2.62 ERA) already has more victories than he had in the past three seasons combined over 49 starts. Tuesday will be his 26th start of this season. His most recent appearance came Sept. 12 at Arizona when he held the Diamondbacks scoreless on five hits over seven innings in a 6-0 victory. It was Anderson's fourth scoreless outing of at least seven innings this season. |
|||||||
09-19-22 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -1.5 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 2 h 57 m | Show |
The Los Angeles Dodgers return home Monday as National League West champions, facing the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of an extended five-game series, which also is the start of an eight-game homestand. When the teams met at Arizona on Tuesday, the Dodgers earned a 4-0 victory to wrap up their ninth division title in the past 10 seasons. A day later, though, Los Angeles' main weakness was exposed when closer Craig Kimbrel gave up a game-ending home run to the Diamondbacks' Sergio Alcantara. Kimbrel has been on a rocky ride in his first season as the Dodgers' closer, blowing five saves, getting tagged with a loss six times and posting a 3.96 ERA in 52 1/3 innings. Other late-inning relief options like right-handers Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol have struggled with injuries. With the playoffs fast approaching, the Dodgers remain in search of answers for the back end of their bullpen. Despite the bullpen troubles, the Dodgers not only clinched the division title, they also reached the 100-win mark Saturday with a victory at San Francisco. Los Angeles has won at least 100 games in each of the past three full seasons and four times in the last five full seasons. |

09-18-22 | Bears +11 v. Packers | Top | 10-27 | Loss | -128 | 7 h 46 m | Show |
After spending the last three seasons looking up at the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North standings, the Chicago Bears head into Lambeau Field in an unusual position. The Bears (1-0) lead the Packers (0-1) in the division race for the first time since 2018, when Chicago last earned the NFC North title. The Packers have won the NFC North every year since and are 6-0 against the Bears during that stretch. Chicago would love to take a two-game edge over the three-time defending division champions by winning Sunday night. Even with the Bears coming off a win and the Packers coming off a loss, Green Bay is a 9 1/2-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. |

09-18-22 | Texans +10 v. Broncos | Top | 9-16 | Win | 100 | 3 h 1 m | Show |
Texans coach Lovie Smith had some rather recent game film to review as he developed his defensive game plan for Sunday - Wilson led the Seahawks to a 33-13 win at Houston last December. "Experience of being in that situation, of seeing him on the other side, game planning for him, it doesn't matter where you are, the person doesn't change a lot," Smith said. "Maybe some of the calls have. I see a similar offensive attack when we played the Seahawks last year. Nowadays, quarterbacks have a big say in what teams do, especially guys that have been around the game for a while." Wilson didn't have much of a say in how things ended Monday night in Seattle, and he vowed to speak up next time Hackett considers taking the ball out of his hands in a game-defining moment. "(I) always trust his decisions and everything else, but I'm also always ready to go try to do it if we need to," Wilson said. Either way, the Broncos insist they've moved on. The Broncos will be without Justin Simmons for the first time since 2017 after the star safety injured a thigh in the opener. Second-year pro-Caden Sterns replaces the ironman who has started 66 consecutive games. The Texans got big contributions from two new faces in Week 1. D-lineman Jerry Hughes, who spent the last nine seasons in Buffalo, had two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in a 20-20 tie with Indianapolis. O.J. Howard, who signed Sept. 2 after his release by the Bills, became the third tight end in NFL history to catch a pair of TD passes in his first game with his new team. |

09-17-22 | Fresno State v. USC -10.5 | Top | 17-45 | Win | 100 | 10 h 28 m | Show |
Seventh-ranked USC returns home to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday for a nonconference game against Mountain West Conference favorite Fresno State. The Trojans (2-0) continued to dazzle offensively early into first-year head coach Lincoln Riley's tenure last week at Stanford -- at least, in the first half. USC scored five first-half touchdowns of the Pac-12 Conference opener but managed a pair of field goals in the second half against the Cardinal. It marked the second time in as many games that the Trojans did not have to punt until the fourth quarter of a blowout win. Quarterback Caleb Williams went 20-for-27 for 341 yards with four more touchdown passes, giving him six for the season to go with the team's five rushing touchdowns and three field goals. His performance earned Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week. Jordan Addison has four of those touchdown receptions among his 12 catches for an average of 113.0 yards a game. The Trojans offense cooled off, however, and Stanford pushed around the USC defense for 221 yards on a 441-yard day of total offense. Yet, the SC defense stiffened in the red zone, forcing two turnovers inside the 3-yard line. |

09-17-22 | Arkansas State +15 v. Memphis | 32-44 | Win | 100 | 7 h 4 m | Show
The Red Wolves weren’t that bad in the loss to Ohio State. They couldn’t run the ball, but the defense held up relatively well in the 45-12 loss. Now they get a Memphis defense that’s been awful on this downs, couldn’t handle the Mississippi State passing game, dealt with the Navy ground attack, and isn’t get enough out of its own offense. Seth Henigan and the passing attack went off against Navy, and there were a few good runs from the O against Miss State, but Arkansas State should be able to control the game and the clock and keep the Tiger O off the field. For all of the issues early on, the Red Wolves have kept the ball for close to 37 minutes. |

09-17-22 | Penn State v. Auburn +2.5 | 41-12 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 39 m | Show
It will be a role reversal Saturday afternoon when No. 22 Penn State heads south to face Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Tigers' home in Auburn, Ala. This is the second game in a home-and-home series between the Tigers (2-0) and Nittany Lions (2-0). Last year, it was the Tigers who were ranked 22nd and the Nittany Lions playing at home -- and Penn State emerged with a 28-20 victory. That loss has left Auburn eager for payback. |
|||||||
09-17-22 | Bryant v. Brown +3.5 | 38-44 | Win | 100 | 1 h 46 m | Show
Brown's most experienced position is wide receiver, where the Bears return 14 of their 18 players who caught at least one pass last season. This is a stark contrast to the 2021 squad that had one player on its roster with a touchdown catch in the 2019 season. The Bulldogs (0-2) have hung tough against two difficult opponents to start the season, falling on the road at FBS opponent Florida International, 37-36 in overtime after leading most of the game, and dropping a 35-21 decision at home against No. 22 URI last weekend. |
|||||||
09-16-22 | Florida State v. Louisville +3 | 35-31 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 60 m | Show
The Cardinals did not have a great start to the season, having their lunch handed to them in their season opener against the Syracuse Orangemen in Week 1. Yet, they were able to pull off a come-from-behind win against UCF last week scoring 13 points in the second half to take home a 20-14 win. However, if Louisville wants to be competitive with some of the tougher teams in the ACC, they need to pick up their offense. So far, the Cards have scored just three touchdowns over their first two games of the season. Like the Seminoles, Louisville ended last season’s conference schedule with a 4-4 record. |
|||||||
09-16-22 | Marlins v. Nationals +1.5 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 58 m | Show
The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins are limping toward the finish line, dreaming of better days in the future. Washington, which will host Miami for a three-game series that begins on Friday, has the worst record in the major leagues (49-94). The Nationals have lost five straight games, and their run differential is also the worst in the majors. Miami (59-85) has lost or tied seven straight series. The Marlins' last series win was Aug. 22-24 at the Oakland A's, who are the worst team in the American League. Washington's big hope is rookie shortstop CJ Abrams, the sixth overall pick in the 2019 draft, selected by the San Diego Padres. Abrams, who turns 22 next month, was acquired in last month in the Juan Soto trade. In 72 games overall this year, Abrams is batting .232 with eight doubles, one triple, two homers, 17 RBIs and a .577 OPS. He also has three steals in seven tries, and the Nationals are pleased with his defense. |

09-15-22 | Chargers +4 v. Chiefs | Top | 24-27 | Win | 100 | 5 h 48 m | Show |
The Kansas City Chiefs have taken on an almost unbeatable air in the AFC West over the past six years, not only winning the division each time but losing just six games total against some of their longest-standing rivals. Except when it comes to the Los Angeles Chargers. They've showed no fear in splitting their past four meetings with Kansas City, including a win in Arrowhead Stadium last season. And after making a series of offseason moves - like signing Khalil Mack, who had three of their five sacks in their opener against the Raiders - designed to deal with Patrick Mahomes and rest of the Chiefs' dynamic offense, the Chargers have every reason to be confident about facing the Chiefs again on Thursday night. |

09-13-22 | Sun +5 v. Aces | 71-85 | Loss | -109 | 6 h 16 m | Show
After dropping the first game of the WNBA Finals, you would think that you'll get the best effort out of the Sun in game two. The Aces were riding on a sold-out crowd at Mandalay Bay. It will be difficult to duplicate that energy again tonight. Take the five in what should be another close one. |

09-13-22 | Los Angeles FC v. Minnesota United +0.5 | Top | 1-1 | Win | 100 | 5 h 24 m | Show |
LAFC is 0-1-2 all-time in Minnesota, making the Loons one of two opponents the team has visited at least three times and never beaten. LA Galaxy is the other (0-5-2). LAFC's appeal of a red card issued to defender Ryan Hollingshead in Saturday's 2-1 loss to FC Dallas was denied, leaving him suspended for this game. |

09-08-22 | Twins +1.5 v. Yankees | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show |

08-17-22 | Rays v. Yankees -1.5 | 7-8 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 60 m | Show
The rays have still lost 5 of 7 against New York and 4 of 5 overall. The Yankees are 116-57 against winning teams at home. |
|||||||
08-16-22 | Tigers +1.5 v. Guardians | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 39 m | Show
This number looks peculiar. The Guardians are huge favorites but yet we're not getting plus money with the Tigers. This smells like a trap. |

We won't see Russell Wilson but there are many regular Broncos that will see significant time, like Montrell Washington. In their joint practice Thursday, the Broncos' offense held a major advantage throughout. |
|||||||
08-12-22 | Packers v. 49ers -2.5 | 21-28 | Win | 100 | 7 h 3 m | Show
Many are talking about this Niners defense as the best they've had since their last Super Bowl appearance. I suspect we'll see Packers money but the Niners are the side here. |

08-08-22 | Giants +1.5 v. Padres | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 6 h 8 m | Show
The Padres were swept by the Dodgers over the weekend so let's see that streak break before I'm laying a heavy number. The Giants had 17 hits in their last meeting against the Padres. |
|||||||

The Jays are just 8-18 when the total is set between 7-8.5 and 3-9 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. |
