01-09-23 | Prairie View A&M v. Arkansas-Pine Bluff +3.5 | 55-63 | Win | 100 | 9 h 2 m | Show
The Golden Lions have covered five of their last seven games at home and five of seven against teams playing under .400 ball on the season. I'll take the plus points here. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Jazz +7.5 v. Grizzlies | 118-123 | Win | 100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
Despite trading their three-time All-Stars in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert this past offseason, the Jazz has been bolstered by the much-improved Lauri Markkanen, who continues to play at an All-Star level. The Finnish big man had 49 points Thursday in a 131-114 win in Houston, and he dropped in 28 during a rough 126-118 loss at Chicago on Saturday. Markkanen has improved remarkably in the two seasons since his four-year tenure at Chicago ended. He spent the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. |

01-08-23 | Giants v. Eagles -14 | 16-22 | Loss | -110 | 48 h 27 m | Show
Here's a familiar refrain these days around Philly: All the Eagles have to do is win one game and they are the NFC East champions, hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC, have a postseason bye and own home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Eagles couldn't reach those goals two weeks ago when they lost at Dallas. They flopped with those prizes at stake last week at home in a debacle against New Orleans. The Eagles (13-3) are out of fourth and fifth chances in the regular season to make up for another loss. With a loss Sunday to the playoff-bound New York Giants - a team the Eagles smoked 48-22 last month - Philadelphia opens the door for Dallas or San Francisco to potentially snag the top seed in the conference. There are myriad scenarios involved that could make that happen - and all start with an Eagles' loss at Lincoln Financial Field. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Rider v. Siena -4.5 | 63-68 | Win | 100 | 4 h 35 m | Show
The Rider Broncs are 219th and the nation in scoring with an average of 70.1 points per game. Rider has a 43.4% field goal shooting percentage and a 32.0 percent 3-point shooting percentage. I don't see the Broncs being able to stay with the Saints for 40 minutes. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Niagara -3 v. Manhattan | 59-64 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 32 m | Show
The Purple Eagles are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall ATS and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight-up win. Jaspers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Ravens +7 v. Bengals | 16-27 | Loss | -110 | 123 h 8 m | Show
The Ravens haven't been great head-to-head against the Bengals over the last few years but they do have a tendency to play well after a poor offensive performance. We saw the 7.5 this morning and we're grabbing that before it's gone. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Loyola Maryland v. Holy Cross -1.5 | 55-63 | Win | 100 | 3 h 40 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Loyola Maryland this season, as they are currently ranked 353rd in college basketball at 66.1 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Greyhounds’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 31.9%, placing them 369th in the NCAA. |
|||||||
01-08-23 | Northwestern +6.5 v. Indiana | 84-83 | Win | 100 | 2 h 42 m | Show
There's never a good time to be without two key starters who boast over 6,000 minutes of college basketball experience, but No. 15 Indiana could be particularly affected in a meeting with visiting Northwestern on Sunday at Bloomington. Indiana point guard Xavier Johnson has missed the last two games, including Thursday's 91-89 loss to Iowa, and doesn't appear to be returning any time soon due to a foot injury. Hoosiers forward Race Thompson injured his right leg Thursday and is expected to miss multiple games. Indiana (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) starts a stretch of three games in seven days against Northwestern (11-3, 2-1), which is coming off an impressive 73-60 victory at home over Illinois. The Wildcats will be the team that can lean into its experience. Their lineup features three seniors -- Chase Audige, Boo Buie and Robbie Beran -- who have combined for over 7,000 career minutes. |
|||||||
01-07-23 | Lakers v. Kings -8 | 136-134 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 56 m | Show
The Los Angeles Lakers will attempt to stretch their season-best winning streak to five games when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Los Angeles has been trying to dig out of an early season 2-10 hole and has yet to reach the .500 mark this season. But the recent run, which includes a 130-114 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, has Los Angeles sitting at 18-21. LeBron James is encouraged after the team's recent performances, which have come without fellow star Anthony Davis (foot). "We're playing some good basketball," James said after the Friday victory. "We've got to continue to keep stacking quarters, keep stacking halves and keep stacking games because we're a team that gets a little confidence and then we want to keep going." James sat out the Lakers' 112-109 home win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday due to an illness. He returned to have a solid all-around game against the Hawks with 25 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. The 38-year-old veteran has scored 30 or more points in nine of his past 12 appearances. |
|||||||
01-06-23 | Blazers +1.5 v. Pacers | 99-108 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 42 m | Show
The Trail Blazers were ready for the Pacers in the teams' previous encounter on Dec. 4. Jerami Grant scored 28 points and Damian Lillard added 21 in his first game in over two weeks due to a calf strain. While Portland was victorious on that night, it has lost five of its last seven games overall. The Trail Blazers began their three-game road trip with a 113-106 setback to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. "I think we're just really inconsistent right now," Lillard said. "Not only from game to game but from quarter to quarter. We're just not able to sustain that level of focus, that level of urgency, the energy." Lillard scored 27 points and Grant added 26, despite being hobbled with a left quad contusion. Those performances notwithstanding, Portland coach Chauncey Billups took issue with the team's approach right out of the chute. The Trail Blazers committed 18 turnovers that led to 22 points by the Timberwolves. |

01-05-23 | Purdue v. Ohio State -1.5 | 71-69 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 49 m | Show
Top-ranked Purdue enters uncharted territory when it plays No. 24 Ohio State on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio. The Boilermakers (13-1, 2-1 Big Ten) will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, a 65-64 setback against visiting Rutgers on Monday. "Worry about the next one. It's 10 weeks," Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "You guys (the media) follow it, but you don't live it. You can get yourself on a roller coaster if you want. I'm not a big fan of roller coasters. "You've got to get back to what you do well. We've got to take better shots. We've got to get some perimeter guys that are consistent shooters. That would be a great start for us." While the Boilermakers stumbled in their latest outing, the Buckeyes (10-3, 2-0) should be full of confidence following a 73-57 win at Northwestern on Sunday. Ohio State limited the Wildcats, who missed 24 of their first 27 shots, to 19-of-67 shooting (28.4 percent) from the floor for the game. |
|||||||
01-05-23 | Stony Brook -1.5 v. Monmouth | 67-56 | Win | 100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Stony Brook has played slightly better on the road over their last several games, they beat Northeastern in their last road game, and they lost to Wager by just 3 on the road several weeks ago. Stony Brook's only recent double digit loss on the road was to a tough West Viriginia team that beat them by 11. |
|||||||
01-05-23 | Maryland v. Rutgers -5.5 | 50-64 | Win | 100 | 14 h 52 m | Show
Giant-killer Rutgers is drawing attention again. Just over a year after the Scarlet Knights toppled No. 1 Purdue, they pulled off another stunning upset of the No. 1 Boilermakers on Monday, handing the Big Ten Conference foe their first loss for the second straight year. With a sellout crowd set to greet the conquering heroes Thursday in Piscataway, N.J., Rutgers (10-4, 2-1 Big Ten) tries to continue its roll against visiting Maryland (10-4, 1-2). The Scarlet Knights enter on a high following their 65-64 win at Purdue. Paul Mulcahy scored 16 points with eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, and zero turnovers. He scored nine of his points in the final six minutes. The Scarlet Knights' Cam Spencer added 14 points and knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with 14 seconds left. It was the fourth straight win for Rutgers, which has been led this season by 6-foot-11 Cliff Omoruyi, who averages 14.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks, all team highs. Omoruyi could present problems for Maryland, which has a small front court and has gotten inconsistent play from 6-9 forward Julian Reese, who has been slowed by a shoulder injury and foul problems. |
|||||||
01-04-23 | Connecticut v. Providence +5 | Top | 61-73 | Win | 100 | 11 h 48 m | Show |
Two of the elite teams in the Big East Conference meet Wednesday when fourth-ranked UConn goes on the road to play Providence. The Friars (12-3, 4-0 Big East) opened Big East play with four consecutive wins for the first time in the program's history by prevailing 74-59 over DePaul on Sunday in Chicago. Providence and Xavier (12-3, 4-0) are tied for first place and are the only unbeaten teams in the conference. Providence sophomore Devin Carter, a transfer from South Carolina, tied his career high by scoring 22 points against the Blue Demons. He also had five steals and four blocked shots. The Friars received 18 points from Jared Bynum, and 12 points and eight rebounds from Bryce Hopkins. Hopkins owns team-best averages of 15.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. |
|||||||
01-04-23 | Evansville v. Missouri State -14 | 62-85 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show
The Bears rank 46th nationally -- and tops in the MVC -- in bench points per game (27.36). Missouri State's 55 bench points at Oral Roberts on Dec. 16 matched the most points ever by MSU's reserves (also done on 3/7/20 vs. Valpo) and set a club record for most bench points in a road game. MSU also ranks 6th nationally in bench minutes (43.2 pct.) per game with Bear reserves scoring at least 20 points in 11-of-14 games this season and combining for 30 points on 5 occasions.
|
|||||||
01-04-23 | New Mexico State v. Stephen F Austin -2.5 | 60-69 | Win | 100 | 10 h 1 m | Show
The Aggies will have to contend with one of the nation’s top pressure defenses as the Lumberjacks rank sixth in the nation in turnovers forced and 24th in the country in steals per game. Additionally, while they don’t shoot the ball often (ranked 327th in three-point attempts per game), SFA does shoot the long ball efficiently (ranked 15th in the country in three-point percentage). |
|||||||
01-04-23 | Tulsa v. Tulane -13 | 77-93 | Win | 100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Tulsa has covered just one game all season long, so there's no reason to go against that trend and streak that has reached 10 straight games. Tulane isn't exactly going to give you a tremendous amount of confidence but I can't bet a team that has failed to cover 21 of their last 27 dating back to last season. |
|||||||
01-03-23 | Wizards v. Bucks -7.5 | 113-123 | Win | 100 | 11 h 46 m | Show
The Washington Wizards can claim their sixth consecutive win and second against the host Milwaukee Bucks in three days when the two teams meet again on Tuesday. Washington extended its ongoing run to five games and six of the last seven on Sunday with a 118-95 rout in Milwaukee. The Wizards were without Bradley Beal, who missed his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury, but successfully capitalized on the Bucks playing without two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Washington attacked the interior with Kristaps Porzingis going for 22 points and Rui Hachimura delivering 26 points off the bench. Sunday marked Hachimura's fifth consecutive double-figure-scoring effort since returning to the lineup, including his third game of 21 points or more. It bumped his average over the last six to 19 points per game. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | Nuggets v. Wolves +2.5 | 111-124 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show
When the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Rudy Gobert from Utah this offseason, it looked like he might be the final piece they needed to become a contender. But with a new calendar year upon it, Minnesota is far from the top and searching for answers. The Timberwolves have lost six in a row, the last a demoralizing home loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night, and now face the top team in the Western Conference when the Denver Nuggets come to Minneapolis on Monday night. Minnesota is five games under .500 and sits 11th in the Western Conference. Center Karl-Anthony Towns has not played since Nov. 28 due to a right calf strain but should be returning shortly, but he won't play against Denver, which makes the task of defending two-time MVP Nikola Jokic that much tougher. Minnesota is 6-10 since Towns went out with the injury. Gobert has faced Jokic many times when he was with the Jazz, and Monday should be another challenge for him. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | West Virginia +3 v. Oklahoma State | 60-67 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 35 m | Show
No. 24 West Virginia and Oklahoma State are in the same boat going into Monday night's Big 12 Conference contest in Stillwater, Okla. Both teams built double-digit first-half leads on the road Saturday, but then both coughed up those leads with stretches of bad basketball. The Mountaineers led 17-3 at Kansas State but fell 82-76 in overtime, while the Cowboys surrendered a 15-point halftime advantage in a 69-67 defeat at No. 4 Kansas. Instead of enjoying a solid road win in West Virginia's case, or scoring a signature road win in Oklahoma State's case, both have little time to lick their wounds. |
|||||||
01-02-23 | Rutgers v. Purdue -8.5 | 65-64 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 25 m | Show
Last season, the Purdue Boilermakers were ranked No. 1 for the first time when they traveled to Rutgers, and a dramatic loss made their stay at the top of the poll a short one. The Boilermakers could be No. 1 for the fourth straight week and are hoping to avoid another loss to Rutgers when the teams get together Monday night in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue (13-0, 2-0 Big Ten) was off to an 8-0 start when it was elevated to No. 1 in the Dec. 6, 2021 poll. On Dec. 9, the Scarlet Knights earned a 70-68 win in the raucous setting of Piscataway, N.J., when Ron Harper Jr. heaved in a halfcourt 3-pointer at the buzzer. This year, Harper is on a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors and the Boilermakers are off to their first 13-0 start since opening 14-0 in 2009-10, which matched the 1993-94 school record for an unbeaten start. Purdue began this season unranked, climbed to fourth, and was elevated to the top spot after its 65-62 overtime win at Nebraska on Dec. 10. As a top-ranked team, Purdue is 3-0, having followed up an eight-point win over Davidson with blowouts over New Orleans and Florida A&M. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Kings +5 v. Grizzlies | 108-118 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 53 m | Show
One game was agonizing enough for Domantas Sabonis to sit out with a right thumb injury, and his past two performances contributed to two electrifying wins for the Sacramento Kings, who describe the forward as a walking double-double. Sabonis and the Kings look to usher in 2023 with a third straight win when the surprising Pacific Division leaders visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night. At 19-15, the Kings are six percentage points ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers for the division lead after getting one-point home wins over the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz. Sabonis sat out Tuesday's 113-106 loss to Denver with an avulsion fracture of his ulnar collateral ligament after being hurt in the fourth quarter against the Washington Wizards on Dec. 23. In Sacramento's past two wins, Sabonis continued to rack up double-doubles. On Friday, he totaled 28 points and 11 rebounds for his 12th straight double-double and 25th overall. Sabonis joined DeMarcus Cousins and LaSalle Thompson as the only players in franchise history with double-doubles in 12 straight games or more. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Vikings +3.5 v. Packers | Top | 17-41 | Loss | -110 | 55 h 32 m | Show |
The Packers can be eliminated from the playoff picture if they lose Sunday and either the Commanders win at home against the Cleveland Browns (6-9) or the Detroit Lions (7-8) win at home against the Chicago Bears (3-12). The Browns-Commanders game and Bears-Lions matchup should be finishing up right around the time the Packers and Vikings have their opening kickoff. Minnesota (12-3) is seeking its first regular-season sweep of the Packers (7-8) since 2017. The Vikings went 1-0-1 against Green Bay in 2018. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | 49ers v. Raiders +10 | 37-34 | Win | 100 | 54 h 19 m | Show
Kyle Shanahan remembers being impressed with Raiders quarterback Jarrett Stidham at the 2019 Senior Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers coach knows little else about Las Vegas' new starter. Stidham is a big unknown for the 49ers, who rank first in the NFL in scoring and total defense and figure to be a substantial challenge for a quarterback making his first career start. The Raiders will start Stidham the final two weeks, including Sunday when San Francisco visits, in place of the benched Derek Carr. "He can make every throw similar to Carr," Shanahan said. "But he hasn't been out there a lot, so hopefully we'll confuse him (and) make it tough for him." The change at quarterback is a signal the Raiders are moving on from Carr and looking at the big picture with the playoffs all but out of reach. That's not the case for the 49ers, who have clinched the NFC West and can still move up from the No. 3 seed. Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels hopes inserting Stidham will revive an offense that has sputtered over the past month as the Raiders have gone 2-2, losing twice in the final minute to the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Tulsa +8.5 v. SMU | Top | 67-92 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
Most will run away from Tulsa after failing to cover 9 straight games, but the number has risen to a level that I'm not willing to lay. The Mustangs aren't exactly cashing tickets consistently with a 5-8 ATS record. The road team in this series has covered 20 of their last 28 meetings. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Panthers v. Bucs -3 | Top | 24-30 | Win | 100 | 51 h 20 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers don't have to sort through a bunch of potential tiebreaker scenarios to know what they need to do to win the NFC South and host a first-round playoff game. Beat the Panthers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, and Tom Brady and the first-place Bucs (7-8) will repeat as division champions and earn a postseason berth for the third straight year regardless of what happens in the final week of the regular season. Carolina (6-9), which has won four of its past six games to play its way back into contention after firing its coach and trading its best player, can claim its first NFC South title by closing with victories over Tampa Bay and New Orleans. "We know what this game entails," Panthers interim coach Steve Wilks said. "There is no reason to talk about it." |
|||||||
12-31-22 | Loyola Marymount v. Pacific +4.5 | Top | 72-78 | Win | 100 | 6 h 21 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Loyola Marymount this season, as they are currently ranked 257th in college basketball at 69.3 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Lions’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 218th in the NCAA. |
|||||||
12-31-22 | San Jose State v. Colorado State -8 | Top | 78-70 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 42 m | Show |
Four Rams players are averaging double-digit points on the year. Isaiah Stevens had made up for lost time after missing the early part of the season. He debuted on November 30th and in the seven games, he has played the senior guard has averaged 17.1 points on 50% shooting from the field. He has scored in double digits in all games played and has logged three games of 20 or more points. He also averages six assists and two rebounds per game. |
|||||||
12-31-22 | New Mexico v. Wyoming +3.5 | Top | 76-75 | Win | 100 | 6 h 34 m | Show |
Wyoming (5-8, 0-1) rallied from 18 points down at Fresno State on Wednesday before falling 58-53. The Cowboys held Fresno State to 1-of-23 shooting from the field in one stretch of the second half to rally back. "Hopefully, this is a game we can build off of by the way we played defensively in the second half," Wyoming coach Jeff Linder said. "You can't spot a team an 18-point lead. But that's when we had the sense of urgency to guard." Noah Reynolds gave the Cowboys their first lead of the second half, 51-49, on a layup with 3:11 left. He made another layup with 1:36 remaining that put Wyoming ahead, 53-51, but that ended the scoring for the Cowboys. Jemarl Baker hit a go-ahead 3-pointer off an offensive rebound with 1:01 left and the Bulldogs tacked on four free throws to cement the win. Reynolds leads the Cowboys with 14.8 points per game on 53.5 percent shooting from the field. |
|||||||
12-30-22 | North Carolina -5.5 v. Pittsburgh | Top | 74-76 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 21 m | Show |
There have been signs that No. 25 North Carolina is getting into a groove, and now after a more than a week layoff, the Tar Heels have another chance to show their improvement. North Carolina will begin the sizable portion of its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule by visiting Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon. "I feel like we're in a great situation and our group is definitely battle-tested," Tar Heels guard Caleb Love said. "It's good for us when our back is against the wall and how we fight back. Anything thrown at us, we're going to overcome it." North Carolina (9-4, 1-1 ACC) has won four games in a row. Pittsburgh (9-4, 2-0) will be playing its ACC home opener. The Tar Heels have displayed a more intense nature in recent games. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Colorado +2.5 v. Stanford | Top | 73-70 | Win | 100 | 13 h 22 m | Show |
Colorado and Stanford hope to display new-and-improved editions when they meet Thursday night in Palo Alto, Calif., in a renewal of the Pac-12 men's basketball schedule. Neither team recorded a win in conference play in two opportunities each earlier this month, with the Buffaloes (8-5, 0-2) falling at home to Arizona State and at Washington, while the Cardinal (5-7, 0-2) were beaten at home by UCLA and at Arizona State. Colorado has made the most of four home dates since its 73-63 loss at Washington on Dec. 4, beating Colorado State, North Alabama, Northern Colorado, and Southern Utah by a total of 71 points. The Buffaloes not only used the time away from Pac-12 play to improve emotionally but also physically, with forwards Luke O'Brien and Lawson Lovering now ready to return to action. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Tulane +4.5 v. Cincinnati | Top | 77-88 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 36 m | Show |
Tulane will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer Jaylen Forbes who is averaging 16.82 points per game for the Green Wave. Forbes is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Green Wave’s offensive game plan is the play of Kevin Cross who has hit 51.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 14.18 points per game. On offense, Tulane comes into the game looking to control the pace of play, as they are just 392nd in possessions per game. Even with their preference to slow the game down, the Green Wave’s scoring at a rate similar to the NCAA average of 73.1 points per game. So far, 38.63% of their shots have come from beyond the arc, where they have connected at a rate of 36.4%. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Cowboys v. Titans +13 | Top | 27-13 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 48 m | Show |
The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans are desperately chasing division titles as the regular season winds to a close. Their approach Thursday night will be very different. Dallas (11-4) still has some hope of a second straight NFC East title with the Cowboys needing to win their final two games with Philadelphia losing at least once. Surviving Thursday night as healthy as possible is Tennessee's top priority. The only way the Titans (7-8) can win a third consecutive AFC South title is by beating the Jaguars in Jacksonville in Week 18. So if coach Mike Vrabel wants to rest as many of his Titans as possible, that's just fine with the Cowboys. "If they want to roll us the ball a couple of times and let us go from there, I'm all for that," Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott said. "We'll take it however they want to do it." Dallas has won five of six, including a 10-point comeback last week for a 40-34 win to keep Philadelphia from clinching home-field advantage throughout the postseason in the NFC. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott couldn't agree more, even with a postseason berth already secure. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | St. Thomas v. South Dakota +1.5 | Top | 84-92 | Win | 100 | 11 h 55 m | Show |
On offense, South Dakota comes into the game looking to control the pace of play, as they are just 503rd in possessions per game. Even with their preference to slow the game down, the Coyotes’ are scoring at a rate similar to the NCAA average at 75.1 points per game. So far, 33.22% of their shots have come from beyond the arc, where they have connected at a rate of 37.4%. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Providence v. Butler -1.5 | Top | 72-52 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 47 m | Show |
It's likely going to take a lot more than a Christmas break to slow down Providence. The Friars have rattled off five straight wins and will find out if their momentum stuck around through the holiday hiatus when they travel to Indianapolis for a meeting with Butler on Thursday night. Providence (10-3, 2-0 Big East) made sure to keep itself off the naughty list, heading into Christmas on the heels of a thrilling 103-98 double-overtime victory against then-No. 24 Marquette on Dec. 20. Bryce Hopkins led the Friars with 29 points and 23 rebounds, both career highs. Devin Carter and Ed Croswell added 20 points apiece and Jared Bynum supplied 16 points and eight rebounds. Although the team will be back in action, classes still will be on hold for nearly three more weeks, meaning basketball becomes the sole focus -- something that the team is relishing. Despite all that, the number suggests a Bulldogs upset. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Minnesota v. Syracuse +10 | Top | 28-20 | Win | 100 | 88 h 8 m | Show |
Minnesota and Syracuse feature standout running backs in Mohamed Ibrahim and Sean Tucker but only one star will actually play in Yankee Stadium. Ibrahim will attempt to complete his remarkable comeback from a ruptured Achilles on Thursday when his Golden Gophers make their first appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl against the Orange, who hope another running back can compensate for Tucker's absence. Last season, Ibrahim was injured in the opening game against Ohio State after rushing for 1,076 yards in seven games during the 2020 season. This year, he was the nation's fourth-leading rusher with 1,594 yards and a finalist for the Doak Walker Award. His 19 rushing touchdowns were tied for second in the nation. |

12-28-22 | Air Force v. San Diego State -16 | Top | 55-71 | Push | 0 | 13 h 58 m | Show |
The Falcons have covered seven straight games while the Aztecs are coming off a less-than-impressive performance against UCSD. The bookmakers are laying another trap, begging you to take the Falcons, we're not falling for that as the Aztecs crush Air Force to give us one last win on the night. |

12-28-22 | Arkansas v. LSU +4.5 | Top | 57-60 | Win | 100 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
A pair of one-loss Southeastern Conference foes open the league season with a showdown on Wednesday night when No. 9 Arkansas battles LSU at Baton Rouge, La. The Razorbacks (11-1) have won seven straight games and are playing their first true road game of the season. LSU (11-1) owns a six-game winning streak and is 8-0 at home. Arkansas was predicted to bring a lofty record into SEC play after reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. LSU's early season success wasn't a guarantee with former Murray State coach Matt McMahon taking over after the end of the controversial Will Wade tenure. But McMahon's rebuilding process received a boost when two of his key Murray State players elected to follow him -- big man KJ Williams and guard Justice Hill. |

12-28-22 | Wolves +6.5 v. Pelicans | Top | 118-119 | Win | 100 | 10 h 48 m | Show |
The New Orleans Pelicans just played one of their better games of the season while short-handed. They expect to be stronger when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. On Monday night, the Pelicans defeated the visiting Indiana Pacers 113-93 despite the absence of their top two scorers: Zion Williamson (illness) and Brandon Ingram (toe). In addition, another starter, Herbert Jones Jr., was sidelined due to health and safety protocol. Two more key rotation players, Trey Murphy III and Dyson Daniels, also were out, both because of non-COVID illnesses. Williamson, who has missed the past three games, said after practice Tuesday that he would play against the Wolves, and coach Willie Green said Murphy and Daniels are probable. Ingram will miss the Wednesday contest, and Jones was listed as questionable. New Orleans gave at least 17 minutes to all nine players that were available Monday and all but one scored. |

12-28-22 | Mercer v. Samford -1.5 | 69-78 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
Samford is scoring a rate similar to the NCAA average at 74.7 points per game. This figure has come despite struggling to knock down shots from outside. Through 13 games, they have only hit 33.5% of their 3-point field goal attempts. For the season, 42.61% of their shots have come from beyond the arc. |

12-28-22 | Kentucky -3 v. Missouri | Top | 75-89 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 21 m | Show |
Kentucky coach John Calipari is bringing a lengthy to-do list as the No. 19 Wildcats begin Southeastern Conference play at Missouri on Wednesday night. The Wildcats (8-3) have lost to Michigan State, Gonzaga, and UCLA. They most recently defeated Florida A&M 88-68 last Wednesday, but they led by just seven points with 5:35 left and Calipari was vexed by his team's defense. "We've got work to do now. We do," Calipari said after the game. "We didn't defend today like we've been defending. It's crazy. I mean, the one thing that we could rely on is that we would really, really guard. Well, they beat us on the bounce, they beat us shooting threes, they beat us offensive rebounding." Now Kentucky must travel to Columbia, Mo., to face the tough Tigers (11-1, 0-0 SEC) as Missouri comes off a 93-71 neutral-court upset of then-No. 16 Illinois on Thursday. |

12-28-22 | Central Florida +3.5 v. Duke | Top | 13-30 | Loss | -115 | 64 h 23 m | Show |
Duke is bowl-eligible for the first time since 2018. To cap off Mike Elko's first season at the helm, the Blue Devils draw UCF in Annapolis, Md. at the Military Bowl on Wednesday. Should Duke (8-4) beat the Knights (9-4), it will give the Blue Devils just their seventh season of nine or more wins in program history. Duke has only had two seasons with that many wins since it joined the ACC in 1953. Both of those campaigns came under the previous coach, David Cutcliffe. But Cutcliffe's Duke teams floundered near the end of his tenure, and the Blue Devils went a combined 10-25 from 2019 to 2021. Elko quickly got the program back on the right track in his first season. Duke had a winning record in ACC play (5-3) for the first time since 2014. Elko was named ACC Coach of the Year and is a semifinalist for the George Munger Coach of the Year award. |

12-27-22 | Lakers +3.5 v. Magic | Top | 129-110 | Win | 100 | 10 h 38 m | Show |
Two teams trending in opposite directions will meet when the Orlando Magic host the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. While Orlando has won eight of its last nine, Los Angeles has lost four in a row. The Lakers began a five-game trip with a 124-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. After taking a nine-point lead into halftime, Los Angeles was outscored 51-21 during a disastrous third quarter. "We have to know that it's a 48-minute game; it's not a 24-minute game," Los Angeles coach Darvin Ham said. "We kind of took our foot off the pedal defensively. To give up a 51-point third quarter is just unacceptable. It's completely unacceptable. That's not who we are. That's not who we're going to be." Lakers star LeBron James scored 38 points in the loss. His seven-game streak of at least 30 points is the longest active streak in the league. Los Angeles is being forced to rely on James minus center Anthony Davis, who is out indefinitely with a stress injury in his right foot. The line is telling us that the Lakers are to break the Orlando cover streak here. |

12-27-22 | Jacksonville v. Notre Dame -7.5 | Top | 43-59 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
Notre Dame will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night when it hosts Jacksonville in its final nonconference game of the season at South Bend, Ind. Notre Dame (7-5) won its lone previous matchup against Jacksonville (7-3) in 2018. The Fighting Irish, who have dropped four of their past five overall, including falling into an 0-2 hole to start Atlantic Coast Conference play, need a win before jumping back into conference action with a difficult test on Friday against No. 14 Miami, which currently sits atop the ACC. Notre Dame appeared ready to correct its course last week before blowing an 11-point lead and losing 73-72 to Florida State on Wednesday. One of the Fighting Irish's strengths this season has been their 3-point shooting, averaging 8.9 made triples per game thanks in large part to Dane Goodwin (46.2 percent from deep), Cormac Ryan (45.6 percent) and Nate Laszewski (42.9 percent). |

12-27-22 | Georgia Southern v. Buffalo +4 | Top | 21-23 | Win | 100 | 39 h 36 m | Show |
Kyle Vantrease was the starting quarterback at Buffalo last season. This year, Vantrease starts at Georgia Southern against his former team in the Camellia Bowl on Tuesday in Montgomery, Ala. Georgia Southern (6-6) will be participating in a bowl game for the fifth time; the Eagles are 3-1 and won the 2018 Camellia Bowl. Buffalo (6-6) is in its sixth bowl game; the Bulls are 2-3 and won the 2020 Camellia Bowl. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Georgia Southern, in its first season under coach Clay Helton, became bowl-eligible by beating Appalachian State 51-48 in double overtime in the final game of the season. Buffalo became eligible for the postseason by with a last-minute 23-22 win over Akron in their season finale. |

12-26-22 | Hornets v. Blazers -6 | Top | 113-124 | Win | 100 | 25 h 23 m | Show |
The Charlotte Hornets experience nothing but trouble in Portland and they aim to end a 14-game skid in the Rose City when they visit the Trail Blazers on Monday night. Charlotte last won in Portland on March 29, 2008 when the team was known as the Bobcats and Emeka Okafor was the squad's high scorer with 21 points. Trail Blazers icon Damian Lillard was a high school senior. The Hornets will take another shot at ending the skid during the fifth contest of a six-game road trip that ends Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors. Charlotte is 2-2 on the excursion after outlasting Los Angeles Lakers 134-130 on Friday. The Hornets have won two of their last three games after losing their previous eight contests. Gordon Hayward scored the tiebreaking points with 6.3 seconds left and P.J. Washington added two free throws to seal it. |

12-26-22 | New Mexico State v. Bowling Green -3 | 24-19 | Loss | -110 | 26 h 8 m | Show
Matt McDonald could appeal for another season, but the Bowling Green quarterback could be stepping on the field for the final time when the Falcons play New Mexico State in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit on Dec. 26. That doesn't mean just his last time for Bowling Green, but his last competitive game at any level. "I know that's a possibility and I'm OK with that. I have no regrets," McDonald said. "We've overcome a lot over the last couple years and we've gotten to this point, bowl game, haven't done that in the last seven years. "I thought that was pretty special and I just want to end it with a win and bring a bowl game victory back to Bowling Green." The Falcons (6-6) are in their first bowl game since losing 58-27 to Georgia Southern in the 2015 GoDaddy.com Bowl when they face New Mexico State (6-6), which won five of its last six games. McDonald has thrown for 2,639 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season, his second as Bowling Green's full-time starter. The last contest wasn't good as McDonald was intercepted three times during a 38-14 road loss against Ohio. |

12-25-22 | Suns +3.5 v. Nuggets | 125-128 | Win | 100 | 11 h 35 m | Show
Last year the Denver Nuggets had the reigning MVP but were left off the NBA's Christmas Day schedule, which some viewed as a snub. Nikola Jokic winning the MVP for a second straight year was too much for the NBA to ignore, so Denver is anchoring the daylong slate of Sunday games. The Nuggets will host the Phoenix Suns in the late matchup, but they won't have their full complement of players. Forward Jeff Green suffered a sprained left finger and a hand fracture in Friday's game and will miss at least four weeks, so he will not be on the primetime Christmas showdown. "I love a TV game. Don't ever turn it down but I don't worry too much about it," Jamal Murray said. "Either I'm playing on Christmas or I'm spending a day with the family." Denver enters Sunday on a three-game winning streak and tied with Memphis for first place in the Western Conference. The Nuggets beat the Grizzlies on Tuesday without Murray, who was resting his sore left knee, and Michael Porter Jr. Porter missed 13 games with a left heel strain but returned Friday night against Portland. He scored 18 points in 27 minutes. |

12-25-22 | Broncos v. Rams +3 | 14-51 | Win | 100 | 5 h 18 m | Show
The Rams have won four straight games against Denver, most recently a 23-20 victory in the 2018 season. The Broncos' last win against the Rams in Los Angeles came in Week 6 of the 1982 season.The Broncos currently lead the NFL with 19 players on injured reserve, while the Rams are tied for third-most with 15. Last season, the Rams had the fifth-fewest games missed while on injured reserve.

12-24-22 | Middle Tennessee State +7 v. San Diego State | Top | 25-23 | Win | 100 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
Last year, it was the Bahamas. This year, it's Hawaii. No Group of 5 programs has fared better at scoring tropical bowl destinations the last two seasons than Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders will try to turn their nine-hour plane trip to Honolulu into a win in the Hawaii Bowl against San Diego State on Saturday. "Two melatonins before I get on the plane to get as much sleep as I can," said safety Teldrick Ross of the trip across four time zones and an ocean. "That way, if I can cut the plane ride down to only like four or five and a half hours, I'll take it." Middle Tennessee (7-5) has become a bowl regular under veteran coach Rick Stockstill. The former Florida State quarterback has taken the team to 10 bowls in his 17 seasons on the job, and his 108 wins in Murfreesboro are the third most in program history. The Blue Raiders' 2022 highlight was a 45-31 win at Miami on Sept. 24, sending the Hurricanes out of the rankings for good. Middle Tennessee quarterback Chase Cunningham threw for 408 yards that day, and he has thrown for 2,920 yards in 11 games with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The team's defensive leader is safety Tra Fluellen, who has 97 tackles and seven pass breakups. |

12-23-22 | George Washington +3.5 v. Pepperdine | Top | 70-81 | Loss | -115 | 11 h 19 m | Show |
The George Washington Colonials were just three seconds away from an opening-round upset win over the Washington State Cougars on Thursday night. Unfortunately, a three-point field goal from the Cougars turned a 64-63 lead into a 66-64 loss. The game was back and forth throughout with Washington State holding a two-point lead at halftime before the two teams battled back and forth in the second half. George Washington had five players in double figures for the game, led by Brendan Adams 17 points. The Colonials shot 49% from the field |

12-23-22 | SMU +13 v. Utah State | 77-74 | Win | 100 | 9 h 40 m | Show
The Mustangs snapped their four-game losing streak with a surprise win over the Gaels as big underdogs. They will try to keep the momentum going with a win over the Aggies, which will give them their second win in a row and a spot in the championship game. SMU is averaging 66.8 points per game. They scored 85 points in their last game, making 60 percent of their field goals and 46.2 percent of their three-pointers. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Kent State v. UTEP +7.5 | 47-46 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show
UTEP has covered five of their last six home games. This number seems to be begging the public to take the Golden Flashes. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Jaguars v. Jets -2 | 19-3 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 2 m | Show
Zach Wilson will start a second game in five days after returning last Sunday as the Jets' starting quarterback with Mike White sidelined by a rib injury. Wilson was benched for three games to reset his mechanics and mental approach. He had an up-and-down performance against Detroit, going 18 of 35 for 317 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | New Mexico State v. North Carolina A&T +11.5 | 85-76 | Win | 100 | 7 h 11 m | Show
New Mexico State’s bench did not come through in their opening, scoring a combined four points in the loss. They won the rebounding battle 37-34 despite being ranked 284th in the country in rebounds per game. They will look to regain their shooting form, 40% from 3pt range, against a North Carolina A&T that has a marginal 3pt defense but good enough to cover this number. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Charlotte v. UABÂ -10.5 | 68-76 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 5 m | Show
The Blazers are certainly living up to their name on the offensive end this season, ranked third in the KenPom tempo ratings and 27th in offensive efficiency. They are scoring 87.9 points per game, the fifth-highest-scoring team in the county. They are knocking down 31.2 field goals per game (11th best) and shooting 48.2% (50th) from the field and 35.5% from beyond the arc. They are also pulling down 42.6 rebounds per game, the sixth most in the country. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Air Force v. Baylor -3 | 30-15 | Loss | -120 | 6 h 58 m | Show
One could say that Baylor coach Dave Aranda has returned to his roots for Thursday night's Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force in Fort Worth, Texas. Aranda will serve as his own defensive coordinator after canning Ron Roberts following the Bears' 6-6 season. Aranda ascended to the Baylor job after running the LSU defense for Ed Orgeron during a 15-0 national championship season in 2019. "You go into my office now, my desk, I've got fits and drawings all over," Aranda said. "I remember those days. It used to be a clean desk. It's not like that anymore." Playing against a true triple-option desk could turn even the most stringent neat freak into a messaholic. The Falcons (9-3) led the FBS in rushing, averaging 330.9 yards per game, and have the nation's third-leading rusher in fullback Brad Roberts and his 1,612 yards. Taking away the fullback in an option attack is always paramount, but even more so when you talk about Air Force. It's 9-1 when Roberts runs for at least 100 yards. The only teams to hold him under three figures? Wyoming and Boise State. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Marist v. Rider -6.5 | 71-77 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 31 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that that have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Red Foxes’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 219th in the NCAA. |
|||||||
12-22-22 | Northern Illinois +18 v. Indiana State | 67-57 | Win | 100 | 1 h 58 m | Show
The Huskies are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall and on the road. |
|||||||
12-21-22 | North Carolina A&T +8 v. UTEP | 62-75 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 42 m | Show
The Miners are averaging 72.3 points per game so far this season, putting them 182nd in the nation in scoring offense. UTEP collects 34.9 rebounds a night while dishing out 13.3 assists per contest. The Miners are 170th in the nation in scoring defense as they allow an average of 68.1 points per game. |
|||||||
12-21-22 | South Alabama -3 v. Western Kentucky | Top | 23-44 | Loss | -120 | 9 h 5 m | Show |
South Alabama will hope to put a bow on its most successful FBS season by winning a bowl game for the first time in program history. At the end of a 10-2 season, South Alabama was selected to play in the New Orleans Bowl against Western Kentucky on Wednesday inside the Superdome. The Jaguars had never finished a season over .500 since joining FBS in 2012. Their only two losses this year came by one point on the road against UCLA in September and by four points to rival Troy in October. Troy and South Alabama ended up tied atop the Sun Belt West, so Troy advanced to the Sun Belt title game and won the conference championship. A trip to New Orleans is not a bad consolation prize for the Jaguars, who are 0-2 in bowl games. Second-year coach Kane Wommack, who received a contract extension earlier this month, said the bowl trip is both a reward and a way to carry momentum into spring practices. |
|||||||
12-21-22 | St. Mary's -8 v. Wyoming | 66-54 | Win | 100 | 9 h 22 m | Show
St Mary's is allowing an average of only 57.7 points per game which is 12th best in the country. The Gaels are allowing an average of just 39.9% shooting overall and 33.2% shooting from three-point territory. St. Mary's is holding opponents to an average of only 25.8 rebounds per game which is fifth best in the country and the Gaels are averaging 36.8 rebounds per game, giving St Mary's an 11.0 rebounding average per game. |

12-21-22 | UL - Lafayette v. Texas -17.5 | 72-100 | Win | 100 | 9 h 37 m | Show
No. 7 Texas will seek to build on its three-game winning streak and remain perfect at home when it opposes surging Louisiana on Wednesday night in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns (9-1) held onto the seventh spot in the Associated Press rankings after winning their two most recent games, including 72-62 over Stanford in Dallas on Sunday as part of the Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge. Marcus Carr scored 17 points and Timmy Allen added 15 and had a key block in the final minute to help Texas hang on for the win. The Longhorns led by 16 points midway through the second half before Stanford roared back to within three with 6:27 remaining. A layup by Allen and two baskets by Carr, the last with 3:50 to play, pushed the Longhorns' advantage to eight points. Stanford never got closer than seven the rest of the way. Sir'Jabari Rice added 15 points for the Longhorns, who forced Stanford into a season-high 18 turnovers. Texas, which is 7-0 at home, has forced at least 17 turnovers in nine of its first 10 contests. Texas was playing its second game without coach Chris Beard, who was suspended indefinitely without pay on Dec. 12 after being arrested and charged with felony domestic assault. Associate head coach Rodney Terry served as acting head coach for the second straight contest for the Longhorns. |

12-21-22 | Michigan +5.5 v. North Carolina | Top | 76-80 | Win | 100 | 8 h 33 m | Show |
Michigan and North Carolina are experienced enough to understand winter missteps are easier to forget with a little success in March. While neither college basketball powerhouse is ready to shed serious aspirations of playing into April 2023, this season is not going according to plan for either program just yet. But expectations could come into focus Wednesday night when the Wolverines and Tar Heels meet at Charlotte, N.C. The neutral-site game comes in the inaugural Jumpman Invitational. The winner of the game takes home a boost in the way of a non-conference victory. "When we get it clicking, just like last year, it's going to be scary," North Carolina guard Leaky Black. "When the games really matter, we'll show up." North Carolina (8-4) has won three in a row since a four-game losing streak knocked it out of the national rankings. |

12-21-22 | George Mason +3 v. Old Dominion | 77-78 | Win | 100 | 5 h 47 m | Show
On their road to seven victories this season, the Monarchs have been effective defensively. Regarding scoring defense, they are rated 66th in the country. They rank 94th in three-point defense and have the 108th-most effective defense in the nation. |
|||||||
12-20-22 | Oklahoma +3.5 v. Florida | 62-53 | Win | 100 | 11 h 57 m | Show
It won't be long before Florida and Oklahoma are Southeastern Conference foes. For now, though, the Gators and Sooners will play in the final nonconference tune-up before Florida begins SEC play and Oklahoma starts its Big 12 schedule. The teams meet Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C., as part of the two-day Jumpman Invitational. Oklahoma's identity has been clear so far. The Sooners (8-3) are among the nation's most efficient offensive teams, shooting 51.5 percent from the field. Only three teams in Division I are shooting at a better clip. Oklahoma is coming off an 87-66 victory over Central Arkansas where the Sooners shot 63.6 percent from the floor -- their best shooting performance in more than a decade. Over their last three games, the Sooners are shooting 59.6 percent from the field over their last three games. |

12-20-22 | Eastern Michigan v. San Jose State -4 | 41-27 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 30 m | Show
Eastern Michigan head coach Chris Creighton said not only does the team want to get over that hump and win its first bowl game in more than three decades, but also hoist another trophy after claiming the Michigan MAC Trophy after wins over rivals Central and Western Michigan this year. "That was the first time our guys have hoisted a trophy," Creighton said. "The postgame was a ton of fun and we want to do it again." The Eagles are led on offense by senior running back Samson Evans (1,084 yards rushing, 13 touchdowns) and on defense by end Jose Ramirez, who was named the Mid-American Conference's Defensive MVP after registering a single-season school record 12 sacks. San Jose State enters with a 7-4 mark and will be playing in a bowl game for the 12th time ever and second time in the last three seasons. The Spartans are seeking their first bowl win since a 27-16 win over Georgia State in the 2015 Cure Bowl. |

12-20-22 | Wofford v. Texas A&M -14 | 67-62 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 25 m | Show
Texas A&M opens a three-game homestand to finish the calendar year by hosting Wofford on Tuesday at College Station, Texas. The Aggies (6-4) wind up non-conference play with home games against Northwestern State and Prairie View A&M next week before starting SEC play on Jan. 4. The Aggies look to get things right after losing two of their past three games, the last an 83-79 loss at Memphis on Saturday. Coach Buzz Williams wants to get a full 40-minute effort out of the Aggies as they approach a conference game at Florida to start the new year. |

12-19-22 | Rams +7.5 v. Packers | Top | 12-24 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 49 m | Show |
This can't be what the NFL's schedule-makers and ESPN executives had in mind. When the league's slate of prime-time games came out in the spring, a mid-December matchup between the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams and the three-time defending NFC North champion Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field sounded like TV rating gold. Surely visions of gorgeous wide-angle shots of the falling snow and big-time playoff implications were dancing in their heads. But instead of a playoff preview, the "Monday Night Football" audience will get two of the NFL's most disappointing teams when the Rams (4-9) visit the Packers (5-8). Although both teams are still mathematically in playoff contention, the Rams have assured a sub-.500 record and the Packers could win out and still miss the postseason for the first time under coach Matt LaFleur. |

12-19-22 | North Dakota +8.5 v. St. Thomas | 62-75 | Loss | -115 | 4 h 22 m | Show
Fighting Hawks are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points |

12-19-22 | Stars v. Blue Jackets +1.5 | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 45 m | Show
The visiting Dallas Stars will try to close out a strong road trip with another victory against the reeling Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. Dallas has picked up five out of eight points on its five-game road trip thus far, including a 5-4 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Even in defeat, the Stars showed staying power after they rallied for two goals in the third period to force overtime. "Big point, down 4-2 in the third, quite a bit of adversity all night," Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said. "I've been happy with the group." The Stars were led by Jason Robertson, who had three assists and now has 46 points in 32 games. Robertson's line, with Joe Pavelski and Roope Hintz, have been one of the best units in the NHL this season. Hintz has 35 points and Pavelski has 31. Led by that line, the Stars have the second-best record in the Western Conference and best in the Central Division with 42 points in their 32 games. Things have gone much worse in Columbus, where the Blue Jackets are last in the Eastern Conference with 22 points and have a negative-40 goal differential this season. |
|||||||
12-19-22 | Manhattan +4.5 v. Marist | Top | 80-69 | Win | 100 | 3 h 18 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Red Foxes’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 219th in the NCAA. |

12-19-22 | Hofstra +2 v. South Florida | Top | 70-77 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 15 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Red Foxes’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 219th in the NCAA. |

12-19-22 | North Dakota State +1.5 v. Western Illinois | 60-79 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 6 m | Show
Bison are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. |

12-18-22 | Wizards +4.5 v. Lakers | 117-119 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show
Anthony Davis has been able to avoid significant injuries so far this season, but he will sit out due to right foot soreness when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Washington Wizards on Sunday. It will be only the fourth game Davis has missed this season, but the Lakers haven't yet pinned down the severity of the injury. Davis has been injury-prone over his previous 10 seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans (seven) and Lakers (three), averaging just 60.4 games per season. Los Angeles surely is hoping the current ailment doesn't lead to a substantial absence. Davis injured the foot during Friday night's 126-108 home victory over the Nuggets, apparently when he collided with the leg of Denver star Nikola Jokic while both players were in the air. The eight-time All-Star is enjoying a solid campaign with averages of 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds in 25 games. Fellow star LeBron James said after Friday's game that he's hoping it will be a short absence for Davis. |

12-18-22 | Rangers -1.5 v. Blackhawks | 7-1 | Win | 115 | 7 h 20 m | Show
The New York Rangers rolled to their season-high sixth straight victory on Saturday, and the line of Barclay Goodrow, Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin played a major role. Panarin and Goodrow each scored and set up a goal, and Zibanejad notched two assists in a 6-3 win at Philadelphia. The trio hopes to keep clicking on Sunday night as the Rangers visit the reeling Chicago Blackhawks. Goodrow called Panarin and Zibanejad "two elite players, not only on our team but throughout the league." "The more we play together, the more chemistry we're gonna build," Goodrow said. Defenseman K'Andre Miller also had a goal and assist for the Rangers, while Jimmy Vesey scored for the second straight game. Vesey had a pair of goals in Thursday's 3-1 home victory against Toronto. |

12-18-22 | Nets v. Pistons +8.5 | 124-121 | Win | 100 | 6 h 30 m | Show
The scorching Brooklyn Nets can complete the sweep of a four-game road trip with a victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The Nets have won five straight games and nine of their last 10 games, although their most recent victory did not come easy. Brooklyn needed a Kyrie Irving 3-pointer just before the final buzzer to defeat the Toronto Raptors 119-116. Irving had never previously drained a buzzer-beating game-winner in his career. He wasn't supposed to take the final shot. Coach Jacque Vaughn drew up a play for Kevin Durant, but Durant felt Irving had the hot hand. |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Warriors +6 v. Raptors | 126-110 | Win | 100 | 5 h 28 m | Show
One team will end a losing streak Sunday when the short-handed Golden State Warriors visit the Toronto Raptors. The Warriors, who will be without Stephen Curry (partially dislocated left shoulder) for a few weeks, lost Friday to the host Philadelphia 76ers 118-106 for their third successive defeat. The Warriors were also without Draymond Green (quadriceps) and Andrew Wiggins (thigh). Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving made a buzzer-beating 3-pointer Friday to give the visiting Brooklyn Nets a 119-116 victory over the Raptors, who lost their fourth straight. The Raptors were without O.G. Anunoby (hip) for the third consecutive game and Gary Trent Jr. (quadriceps) was a late scratch. The Warriors did get some good news when Wiggins was cleared to return to practice on Thursday. He was injured while scoring 36 points against the Houston Rockets on Dec. 3. This is the first meeting of the season between the teams who met in 2019 NBA Finals, won by Toronto. The Warriors, the reigning NBA champions, will be playing the fourth game of a six-game trip. The Raptors will complete a three-game homestand. |

12-18-22 | Knicks v. Pacers | 109-106 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 33 m | Show
It's been almost a decade since the New York Knicks won consecutive playoff games. But if everything goes as Tom Thibodeau hopes, the Knicks will rely in the spring on their experiences this week in Chicago. The Knicks will look to continue surging Sunday afternoon, when they are slated to visit the Indiana Pacers in a battle of longtime Eastern Conference rivals. Both teams were off Saturday after playing on the road Friday, when the Knicks rolled past the Chicago Bulls 114-91 and the Pacers squandered a double-digit fourth-quarter lead in a 118-112 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The win was the sixth straight for the Knicks, who extended their longest winning streak in two seasons by winning back-to-back games in Chicago. New York outlasted the Bulls 128-120 in overtime on Wednesday night. |

12-18-22 | Buffalo v. West Virginia -18.5 | Top | 78-96 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 32 m | Show |
West Virginia will look to extend its winning streak to three games when it plays host to Buffalo on Sunday at Morgantown, W.Va. Neither team has played since Dec. 10. The Mountaineers (8-2) last earned an 81-70 win over visiting UAB, while the Bulls (5-5) saw a four-game winning streak end with an 88-63 loss to Tulane in the Holiday Hoopsgiving event at Atlanta. The Mountaineers led the Blazers 40-31 at halftime, but the game was tied at 47-all with 13:50 remaining. West Virginia responded by going on a 6-2 run to take a 55-49 lead it wouldn't relinquish following Erik Stevenson's layup with 11:24 left. The Mountaineers forced 19 turnovers. |

12-18-22 | Titans +3 v. Chargers | 14-17 | Push | 0 | 5 h 59 m | Show
 The Los Angeles Chargers' defense had its best game of the season last week in shutting down one of the league's top passing attacks. Their challenge Sunday will be to contain Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry. The two-time NFL rushing champ will play in his 100th regular-season game as the slumping Titans head west. Henry is second in the league with 1,199 yards rushing and needs only 4 yards to reach 8,000 for his career. Henry's focus is on snapping Tennessee's first three-game losing streak since 2018 instead of personal milestones. |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Patriots +2.5 v. Raiders | 24-30 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 48 m | Show
 If the New England Patriots make the playoffs, their weeklong stay out West likely will be a major reason. They remained in Arizona this past week after beating the Cardinals 27-13 on Monday night, training in Tucson. That victory put the Patriots, at 7-6, in position for the seventh and final AFC playoff spot. Given that the first two teams just outside the postseason - the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets - have the same records, Sunday's game at Las Vegas is critical, especially considering the Patriots' closing stretch. New England's final three games are against teams that as of now would be in the playoffs. So instead of making two cross-country trips in a week, coach Bill Belichick decided to save the wear on his players and have them ready when they visit the Raiders (5-8). |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Tarleton St +3 v. Air Force | 67-81 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 55 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Air Force this season, as they are currently ranked 466th in college basketball at 59.0 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that that have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Falcons’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 33.3%, placing them 291st in the NCAA. |

12-18-22 | Belmont +5.5 v. Chattanooga | 83-79 | Win | 100 | 4 h 37 m | Show
The Bruins are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up loss, while the Mocs are just 6-18-2 ATS in their last 26 Sunday games |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Lions v. Jets -1 | Top | 20-17 | Loss | -116 | 2 h 57 m | Show |
Robert Saleh is always quick to remind people he's an eternal optimist, thinking the best-case scenario in every situation. That's why it wasn't necessarily so stunning to hear the New York Jets coach declare after his team's loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday that the squads would meet again - in the playoffs. Saleh is also a realist. He knows in order for the Jets to snap their 11-year postseason drought, which is the NFL's longest active skid, they've got plenty more winning to do. And it needs to start Sunday at MetLife Stadium against a roaring Detroit Lions squad that has won five of its past six. "We're going to get everyone's absolute best shot because they're fighting for their lives, too," Saleh said. "And that's why we strive for December football. This is the fun stuff." After the game Sunday comes a Thursday night home game against Jacksonville (5-8) before road games at Seattle (7-6) and Miami (8-5). |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Steelers +3 v. Panthers | 24-16 | Win | 100 | 2 h 46 m | Show
Sam Darnold spent the better part of this season on the sideline in a boot, learning the importance of patience while watching other quarterbacks play. Those lessons appear to be paying off. Darnold is 2-0 since taking over as Carolina's starting quarterback and has the Panthers (5-8) in control of their playoff destiny with four games remaining. If the Panthers win out, beginning Sunday at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they'll win the NFC South. "I think the biggest thing I learned was patience," said Darnold, who was 4-7 as Carolina's starter last season. "When I'm back there, I'm taking the shots when they are there, but at the same time being patient and understanding what the situation is. First and second down, you want to stay ahead of the chains, and then on third down being able to go through my reads and use my legs if I have to." The No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL draft hasn't put up eye-popping numbers by any means, throwing for 284 yards and two touchdowns in two starts. He hasn't needed to. With the Panthers running the ball so effectively, Darnold's biggest task has been managing the game and not turning the ball over. |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Eagles v. Bears +9 | 25-20 | Win | 100 | 2 h 39 m | Show
Though Justin Fields has started to resemble the franchise cornerstone they hoped he would become, the Bears come out of a bye looking to stop their second six-game losing streak in three years. They haven't dropped more than six in a row since an eight-game skid in 2002 that matched a franchise record. The Bears can maybe take some comfort from Philadelphia. The Eagles lost five of their first seven games last year before going on a 7-2 run that propelled them to the playoffs. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Tennessee +3.5 v. Arizona | 70-75 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 13 m | Show
No. 6 Tennessee plays at No. 9 Arizona in what will be an epic clash of styles on Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz. Tennessee (9-1), tough and physical, ranks first nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to kenpom.com through Wednesday's games. Arizona (9-1), which loves to play fast, is first in adjusted offensive efficiency and leads the country in scoring (92.0 points per game) and shooting percentage (54.7). "It's going to be a fistfight," said Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, whose program has won 24 consecutive games at McKale Center. "That's the way they play, and there's just no other way to describe it. If you think you're going to go in and win this game by being dainty and cute, you've got another thing coming. We're excited for the challenge, and it's a great program coming to McKale. I think Coach (Rick) Barnes is one of the best ever to do it, so it's an honor for us to compete against them." The Vols, who will be playing their first road game, are first nationally in 3-point percentage defense (20.2), second in field goal percentage defense (32.7), and third in scoring defense (51.4 ppg) through Wednesday's games. They beat then-No. 13 Maryland 56-53 in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sunday, allowing only one two-point field goal in the first half. |

12-17-22 | Boise State v. North Texas +12.5 | Top | 35-32 | Win | 100 | 11 h 41 m | Show |
Some might see the Frisco Bowl as a comedown for Boise State, considering it lost out on a Mountain West Conference title and a chance to play a Power 5 program in a bowl game. However, Broncos coach Andy Avalos says the team's appearance in Saturday night's Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas, against North Texas isn't the letdown many believe it is. "It's a big deal. For us, we're grateful to be in this bowl game," he said Monday. Whether it's because it's the Broncos' first bowl game since 2019 because of COVID-19 or because the Dallas Cowboys are allowing the team to practice at their facility, Boise State sounds like a team ready to play in a pre-Christmas bowl game. The Broncos (9-4) could have played Washington State in the LA Jimmy Kimmel Bowl, but instead fell 28-16 to Fresno State in the MWC championship game. That knocked them down the league's pecking order for bowl bids. Instead of playing in SoFi Stadium, the home of two NFL teams that are already hosted a Super Bowl, Boise State instead plays in a soccer-specific stadium outside of Dallas. But Avalos said early practices have been intense. |

12-17-22 | Dolphins +7.5 v. Bills | 29-32 | Win | 100 | 9 h 39 m | Show
Growing up in Houston, and spending his college career at Alabama, Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle acknowledged having never played in a snow game in his life. And the potential of finally doing so on Saturday night, when Miami (8-5) travels to play the Buffalo Bills (10-3) in an AFC East showdown, barely registers for the second-year player given what's at stake. When asked if he's packing extra clothes to brace for a forecast calling for cold and snow, Waddle responded by saying: "Our competitive spirit. Shoot. That's what I'm going to bring." Putting aside the distraction of weather, and how it might affect two teams with players who mostly hail from warm climates, Waddle is more focused on furthering the Dolphins' bid to clinch a playoff spot for the first time in six seasons and their outside shot to claim the division title. The Dolphins have an opportunity to sweep the season series with Buffalo following a 21-19 win in September, and just as important, snap a two-game skid that dropped them to sixth in the AFC playoff race after a 23-17 loss at the Chargers on Sunday. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Jazz +4 v. Bucks | 97-123 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 20 m | Show
On a night when the Utah Jazz picked up a second consecutive win over the team that had the best record in the Western Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks had one of those games you would just rather forget. Milwaukee fell behind Memphis by 15 points at the end of the first quarter, trailed by 29 at halftime, was outscored 47-30 in the third quarter and ended up getting blown away 142-101 by the Grizzlies on the road. "We were just beaten soundly in every way, shape and form, and we have to own that," Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said. The Jazz will try to build on the momentum they gained with a pair of nice victories over the New Orleans Pelicans at home earlier this week and the Bucks will try to get back to their usual selves when the two teams meet up Saturday in Milwaukee. |

12-17-22 | BYU +4.5 v. SMU | Top | 24-23 | Win | 100 | 9 h 41 m | Show |
When the football is kicked off in Saturday's New Mexico Bowl between SMU and BYU, the fans in attendance can expect plenty of fireworks -- in the form of points on the scoreboard. The high-powered offenses of SMU Mustangs coach Rhett Lashlee and BYU Cougars coach Kalani Sitake will take the field against a pair of struggling defensive units in a matchup that Vegas oddsmakers expect to feature tons of points. While BYU is a 1.5-point favorite, the most intriguing number is the over-under -- set at a lofty 74 points. Averaging 38.4 points in a 7-5 season, SMU was a part of history on Nov. 5 when it beat Houston 77-63 in the highest-scoring regulation contest in FBS history. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai threw for a program and American Athletic Conference record nine touchdowns and rushed for another. Meanwhile, BYU's defense has been costly for the Cougars during their 7-5 campaign. In a stretch of mediocre play, the unit likely cost them in losses to Arkansas, East Carolina, Liberty, and Notre Dame. Sitake's defense ranked 93rd in the nation, allowing 409.7 yards per game, but new defensive coordinator/associate head coach Jay Hill vows to improve that. |

12-17-22 | Lightning v. Canadiens +1.5 | 5-1 | Loss | -125 | 7 h 44 m | Show
Currently on a two-game losing skid and fresh off a bad loss against one of the NHL's worst clubs, the Montreal Canadiens will look to change their fortunes against one of the Eastern Conference's elite. In their first matchup this season, Montreal will square off against the sizzling Tampa Bay Lightning in Quebec on Saturday night, with the visitors on a hot stretch of play. The same can't be said for the Habs. After losing 3-2 in Ottawa to the Senators on Wednesday, matters got worse Thursday when Montreal fell behind 2-0 against the Anaheim Ducks -- slotted 31st in the league-wide standings. The Habs tied it behind Cole Caufield but saw John Klingberg's game-winning goal and two empty-netters sink them in a 5-2 setback. Caufield netted twice in the third period -- once on the power play, the other at even strength -- to push his total to a team-best 18 goals. He became the third Montreal player since the 1990-91 campaign to score at least that many times in 30 matches, joining Tyler Toffoli (2020-21) and Brian Savage (1995-96). Now set to play their third game in four nights, the Habs will have to be ready for the Lightning, Caufield said. The loss to the Ducks, who earned only their second regulation win, clearly stung the Montreal dressing room. |

12-17-22 | CS Sacramento +9.5 v. Fresno State | 59-53 | Win | 100 | 8 h 50 m | Show
Sacramento State will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer Zach Chappell who is averaging 15.7 points per game for the Hornets. Chappell is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Hornets’ offensive gameplan is the play of Akolda Mawein who has hit 56.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 10.8 points per game. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Texas A&M +6.5 v. Memphis | 79-83 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
Texas A&M is looking to build momentum after its latest win. Memphis is hoping to bounce back after nearly pulling off an upset of a nationally ranked opponent. Saturday night will determine which team gets things to go its way as the Aggies hit the road for a nonconference battle against the Tigers. A&M (6-3) topped Oregon State 72-54 on Sunday behind an impressive defensive effort, particularly in the second half when it limited the Beavers to 24 points. It's the fourth time this season the Aggies have held a team to fewer than 60. "I think that when we're hooked up on defense, we're one of the best in the country," guard Dexter Dennis told 12thman.com. "We try to do that as much as we can, and the coach (Buzz Williams) gets all the credit. Coach has been doing a good job of making sure we're getting better every day, improving our weaknesses as a team and as individuals. All of the credit goes to coach." |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Davidson +15.5 v. Purdue | 61-69 | Win | 100 | 7 h 2 m | Show
Davidson (7-3) hasn't played since a Dec. 7 victory against visiting Western Carolina. That halted a two-game skid that included a two-point overtime loss to Charlotte and a two-point setback at Delaware. "We made a major, major emphasis about what we can do about our (situational) defensive mentality," first-year Davidson coach Matt McKillop said. "When you do good things on the defensive end, it gives you confidence. It gives you energy." The Wildcats will need that defensive attentiveness in dealing with Purdue. Center Zach Edey of Purdue has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the past three weeks. He's averaging 22.0 points per game, despite a season-low 11 in last Saturday's overtime victory at Nebraska, to go with a nation's-best 13.7 rebounds per outing. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Ducks v. Oilers -1.5 | 4-3 | Loss | -120 | 4 h 6 m | Show
The Anaheim Ducks will try to match their longest winning streak of the season -- two games -- when they visit Edmonton on Saturday afternoon. The Oilers, meantime, will try to rebound blowing a two-goal, third-period lead at home and eventually falling to St. Louis 4-3 on Thursday. That result dropped Edmonton to 4-3-1 in December, and even though the Oilers are still clinging to a wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference, the game against the Blues was too indicative of what has been an inconsistent, often frustrating season. "It's disappointing because the game is right there, but you move on," Edmonton defenseman Tyson Barrie said. "It's a game of mistakes. Obviously, we've got to learn how to close those ones out." The Oilers entered Friday tied for the second-most goals in the NHL this season (112), but had just the 15th-best points percentage overall. Anaheim, meanwhile, led in three games amid an 0-7-2 road slide that ended with Thursday's 5-2 victory at Montreal. The Ducks even squandered a 2-0, third-period lead in that contest, but regrouped to score the final three to win their first regulation road contest of the season. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Toledo +3.5 v. Marshall | 85-100 | Loss | -115 | 4 h 24 m | Show
The Toledo Rockets have played well offensively this season, as they are averaging 89.3 points while shooting an impressive 47.7 percent from the floor. We'll take a team that can hit almost 90 points a game and the points. |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Colts +4 v. Vikings | Top | 36-39 | Win | 100 | 1 h 28 m | Show |
There's a connectivity and resiliency these Minnesota Vikings have crafted and harvested, helping put them on the brink of a division title despite being cumulatively outscored by their opponents. Time for another test of that character. After allowing 400-plus yards for a franchise-record fifth straight game in a defeat last week at Detroit, the Vikings (10-3) will take another crack at clinching when they host Indianapolis (4-8-1) on Saturday. The NFC North crown will be theirs with a win or a loss by the Lions. Though the Vikings were far more competitive than in earlier setbacks against Philadelphia and Dallas, the loss in Detroit furthers external doubts about whether their defense is strong enough for a deep run through the playoffs. |
