2026 NFL Handicapping – Green Bay Packers vs New England Patriots
Here’s why I’m backing an OVER bet below in my Packers Patriots free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Packers vs. Patriots Gameday
The Green Bay Packers visit the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
Matt LaFleur’s Packers arrive at 5-3 following a victory over Carolina. Green Bay is 2-2 on the road and needs to keep winning in a crowded NFC North.
Two winning teams with capable quarterbacks, and neither has much room to coast in the playoff race.
Mike Vrabel has New England at 5-3 as well, including a perfect 3-0 home record. The Patriots have rediscovered their competitive edge, although their season hasn’t been without mistakes.
Sunday’s weather looks much better than the earlier rain forecast. Temperatures should be in the 50s with light winds and little chance of precipitation around kickoff.
The regular-season series is tied 6-6, with the home team winning the last four meetings. Neither franchise owns bragging rights in that department.
Both clubs have won four of their last five games.
Green Bay wants to maintain its momentum, while New England is trying to strengthen its position in the AFC East. There’s plenty riding on this interconference matchup.
It’s Week 9, Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots Odds & Previous Games
New England opened as a -164 moneyline favorite, with Green Bay returning +139. The Patriots are laying three points at -113, while the Packers are getting +3 at -107.
The opening total is 47 points, with both sides priced at -110. Sportsbooks expect a competitive game between two teams with identical records.
Green Bay defeated Carolina 27-19 last Sunday. The Packers previously lost to Detroit 20-17 but beat Dallas 23-13, Chicago 31-7 and Tampa Bay 17-14.
New England comes off a 24-19 victory over Miami.
The Patriots also defeated the Jets 26-19 and Raiders 45-17, although Chicago handed them a 30-24 defeat.
The Packers won the last regular-season meeting 27-24 in overtime on October 2, 2022. New England took the previous meeting at Gillette Stadium 31-17 in November 2018.
The Patriots also defeated Green Bay 21-17 in a 2023 preseason contest. That result belongs in the history books rather than Sunday’s betting argument.
The three-point spread gives New England a modest edge. Green Bay’s recent form suggests the Patriots won’t have an easy afternoon.

Patriots Stats From Last Week
New England averages 367.3 offensive yards per game, ranking eighth in the NFL. The Patriots generate 244.1 passing yards and 123.1 rushing yards per contest.
The defense allows 20.3 points per game, ranking ninth. New England has been particularly effective against the run, surrendering only 92.6 yards per contest.
The Patriots have recorded 22 sacks and allow 217.3 passing yards per game. Their defensive front has helped keep opponents from consistently controlling possession.
Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 82 yards against Miami.
His ability to gain tough yards gives New England a useful option when it needs to protect a lead.
New England has committed 15 turnovers and owns a minus-seven turnover margin. That’s a surprisingly ugly figure for a team sitting two games above .500.
Receiver A.J. Brown and running back TreVeyon Henderson are out Sunday. Tight end Hunter Henry is questionable with a foot injury.
Mack Hollins, Greg Van Roten and Morgan Moses are also questionable. The Patriots have enough depth to compete, but those absences could complicate their offensive plans.
Packers Stats From Last Week
Green Bay averages 331.6 offensive yards per game, including 271 through the air. The Packers rank second in passing offense but last in rushing, producing only 60.6 yards per contest.
The defense allows 20.5 points per game and has forced 15 turnovers. Green Bay’s 10 interceptions rank among the league’s highest totals.
The Packers have also recorded 22 sacks. Their ability to generate pressure has helped compensate for an offense that hasn’t consistently established its running game.
Jordan Love threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns against Carolina. His performance gave Green Bay enough offense to secure another important victory.
Christian Watson has 708 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He provides a dangerous vertical threat whenever defenses give him room to operate.
Micah Parsons, Zaire Franklin, Travis Glover, Sean Rhyan and Josh Whyle are out Sunday. Keisean Nixon, MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks are questionable.
Watson practiced on a limited basis with a rib injury but carries no game-status designation. His availability matters to an offense that relies heavily on its receiving corps.
Green Bay can move the ball through the air, but its ground game remains a glaring weakness.
Packers vs. Patriots QB Matchup
Drake Maye has thrown for 1,983 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions through eight games. He’s completed 67.1% of his passes, giving New England dependable production at quarterback.
Maye threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns against Miami. He also scored on the ground, demonstrating his ability to contribute when a play breaks down.
The Patriots quarterback practiced fully despite a right shoulder issue. He carries no injury designation for Sunday’s matchup.
Jordan Love leads the NFL with 2,246 passing yards. He has thrown 16 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 61.5% of his attempts.

Love has been willing to attack downfield, giving Green Bay opportunities to create explosive plays. His accuracy on deeper throws will be tested by New England’s secondary.
Maye has shown he can operate efficiently within the Patriots’ offense. Love brings a more aggressive downfield approach, creating different problems for the opposing defense.
New England needs to disrupt Love’s timing without leaving its defensive backs exposed. Green Bay must challenge Maye’s decision-making while keeping him from extending plays outside the pocket.
Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots bottom line: Love’s vertical passing ability meets Maye’s efficiency in a quarterback matchup that could determine which team controls the afternoon.

Packers Patriots Free Pick: Over 47
Here is my Packers Patriots free pick: I’m playing Over 47 (-110). Green Bay has the receivers to turn routine completions into big gains, and New England has enough offensive balance to answer. This isn’t a game where I need one quarterback to carry the entire total. What I like is the possibility of both teams scoring in bunches. A 27-24 finish gets this bet home, and neither offense has to produce anything extraordinary to reach that neighborhood.
Forty-seven points isn’t a mountain when both offenses can punish a defense that misses its assignments.
My concern is the opening quarter turning into a field-position contest. That’s manageable if both teams start finishing possessions once they settle in, especially with a close score keeping the playbooks open.
I’m not counting on defensive touchdowns, overtime or some miracle fourth-quarter comeback.
I want ordinary scoring drives, a couple of explosive plays and two offenses doing their jobs.
That’s enough for me to take the Over 47.
