2026 NFL Handicapping – Cleveland Browns vs New Orleans Saints
Here’s why I’m backing a Cleveland ATS bet below in my Browns Saints free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Browns vs. Saints Gameday
The Cleveland Browns travel to New Orleans for a Week 9 meeting with the Saints on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET at Caesars Superdome, with CBS and Paramount+ carrying the action.
Todd Monken’s Browns enter at 5-3, still chasing Pittsburgh in the AFC North. Cleveland has gone 2-3 on the road, making another trip away from home a test of its consistency.
Cleveland has the better record, but New Orleans has an opportunity to make this interesting.
Kellen Moore’s Saints sit at 2-5, having lost four of their last five games. They’ve also gone 0-4 at home, which isn’t exactly how you reward the paying customers.
New Orleans returns from its bye week with extra preparation time. Whether that translates into better football remains to be seen.
Both teams have struggled finding consistency, although Cleveland remains firmly in the playoff conversation. The Saints need a victory before their season slips further away.
It’s Week 9, Cleveland Browns vs. New Orleans Saints, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Cleveland Browns vs. New Orleans Saints Odds & Previous Games
The Saints are slight favorites at -119 on the moneyline, with Cleveland returning +100. New Orleans is laying 1.5 points at -111, while the Browns are getting +1.5.
The total is 43 points, with both sides priced near even money. That’s a modest expectation for two offenses that haven’t consistently finished drives.
Cleveland was hammered 27-6 by Pittsburgh last weekend, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Browns previously beat Tennessee 27-24 and Baltimore 13-10, proving they can survive tight contests.
New Orleans lost 16-10 to Pittsburgh and 23-13 to Minnesota before beating the Giants 34-27. The Saints have struggled defensively, particularly when opponents sustain long drives.
New Orleans won the last meeting 35-14 in 2024 and also beat Cleveland 17-10 in 2022. The Saints have captured three straight regular-season meetings, although Cleveland leads the all-time series 13-7.
That history favors New Orleans, but it won’t help block Myles Garrett on Sunday. Cleveland’s defensive front presents a serious challenge.

Saints Stats From Last Week
New Orleans averages 23.1 points per game, ranking 14th in the NFL. Defensively, the Saints allow 27.7 points per contest, placing them among the league’s weaker units.
Chris Olave leads the receiving corps with 636 yards and 2 TDs. He’s the primary downfield threat, although opposing defenses know where the football is headed.
The Saints have managed only 602 rushing yards, ranking 29th. Kendre Miller has contributed 159 yards and 2 TDs, while Alvin Kamara has added 133 receiving yards.
That limited ground production has placed additional responsibility on the passing attack. New Orleans needs better balance to avoid predictable situations.
Defensively, the Saints have recorded 18 sacks and 4 interceptions.
Those numbers haven’t compensated for the points they’ve surrendered.
New Orleans also carries a minus-four turnover differential into Week 9. Giving away possessions is a lousy habit for a team already struggling to win.
Injuries remain a concern, with Travis Etienne Jr. and Dillon Radunz on injured reserve. CJ Donaldson missed Thursday’s practice with shoulder and concussion issues.
Kamara was limited with a back injury, while Kelvin Banks Jr. continues managing an ankle problem. Cesar Ruiz practiced fully Thursday, providing some encouragement.
Browns Stats From Last Week
Cleveland averages 16.6 points and 301.9 total yards per game, ranking near the NFL’s bottom offensively. Scoring touchdowns has become an ongoing frustration.
Harold Fannin Jr. delivered 154 receiving yards against Pittsburgh, providing one bright spot. Unfortunately, Cleveland rushed for only 34 yards and couldn’t establish any balance.
Quinshon Judkins leads the Browns with 342 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Cleveland needs more production from its backfield to avoid obvious passing situations.
Defensively, the Browns allow 196.6 passing yards per game, ranking among the NFL’s better units. Their secondary has generally held up despite inconsistent offensive support.
Cleveland has recorded 21 sacks and 6 interceptions, showing an ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks. That pressure could prove important against New Orleans.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Teven Jenkins and Alex Wright remain on injured reserve. Those absences have tested Cleveland’s depth.
Maliek Collins missed Thursday’s practice with an elbow injury, while Carson Schwesinger was limited. Cleveland needs its defensive front healthy enough to maintain pressure.
Browns vs. Saints QB Matchup
Deshaun Watson has completed 65.5% of his passes for 1,806 yards, 7 TDs and 3 interceptions. He’s started all eight games, although Cleveland hasn’t consistently converted passing production into touchdowns.
Watson entered concussion protocol Wednesday after reporting symptoms following the Pittsburgh game. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, leaving his availability uncertain.
Shedeur Sanders has been working with Cleveland’s first-team offense and could start if Watson isn’t cleared. Sanders started seven games as a rookie in 2025 but has attempted only three passes this season.
That would be a significant adjustment for an offense already struggling to score. Cleveland would need quick decisions and reliable protection rather than asking Sanders to manufacture miracles.
New Orleans counters with Tyler Shough, who has completed 67% of his passes for 1,721 yards, 13 TDs and 6 interceptions. He’s produced more touchdowns but hasn’t eliminated costly mistakes.
Shough benefits from receivers capable of creating separation, particularly when the Saints establish manageable down-and-distance situations. Cleveland’s secondary should provide a demanding test.

The Saints quarterback must also account for Cleveland’s aggressive defensive front. Holding the football too long could turn promising possessions into another afternoon of punting practice.
If Watson plays, Cleveland retains its experienced starter. If Sanders gets the assignment, the Browns will need a more controlled offensive approach.
Shough has continuity and an extra week of preparation on his side. Cleveland’s defensive pressure, however, could force mistakes if New Orleans becomes too dependent on passing.
The quarterback uncertainty makes Cleveland’s offensive execution difficult to assess. Watson’s final availability remains an important consideration before kickoff.
Cleveland Browns vs. New Orleans Saints bottom line: Cleveland’s defensive strength keeps this competitive, but its quarterback situation could determine how effectively the Browns move the football.
Cleveland Browns vs. New Orleans Saints Football Betting Trends
- The Browns have covered the spread in 70.0% of their last 10 regular season games as underdogs.
- Plus, New Orleans has hit the over in all 4 of their recent games when favored.
- Cleveland has a 4-4 record against the spread in their last 8 away games.
- The Saints have a strong 83.3% ATS record in games with totals of 42 or less.
- Also, the Browns have gone 5-2 straight up in their last 7 games with totals of 42 or less.
- The Saints are 3-2 straight up in their last 5 games as favorites.
Browns Saints Free Pick: Browns +1.5
Here is my Browns Saints free pick: I’m backing Cleveland Browns +1.5. New Orleans is laying points with a 2-5 record, and I’m having a hard time finding what this team has done to deserve favorite status. Apparently, playing at home is supposed to fix everything.
Cleveland has covered five of eight games this season, and its defense gives it a fighting chance in an ugly, low-scoring contest. The Browns don’t need an offensive masterpiece to stay competitive.
The concern is Deshaun Watson’s concussion, which could put Shedeur Sanders under center. That’s a legitimate risk, but Cleveland can simplify its offense, lean on short throws and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
I’m not paying a premium for a Saints team that hasn’t won a home game.
New Orleans has had an extra week to prepare, but rest doesn’t automatically cure bad football. Cleveland needs to avoid falling behind early and force the Saints to earn their points through sustained drives.
This isn’t a bet on Cleveland suddenly becoming an offensive powerhouse. It’s about backing a defense capable of keeping the score tight against a favorite that hasn’t earned much trust.
I’ll take my chances with the tougher defensive unit in a game that should stay within one possession.
My play is on the Browns +1.5.
