2026 NFL Handicapping – Los Angeles Rams vs Washington Commanders
Here’s why I’m backing a Los Angeles ATS bet below in my Rams Commanders free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Rams vs. Commanders Gameday
The Los Angeles Rams visit the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on FOX.
Sean McVay’s Rams enter Week 9 at 4-4 after winning two straight games. Los Angeles has gone 2-1 on the road and has an opportunity to move above .500.
Los Angeles has momentum, but Washington has enough talent to make this a dangerous road assignment.
Dan Quinn’s Commanders are 2-4-1, with a 2-1-1 record at Northwest Stadium. Their uneven start has left little room for another disappointing performance.
McVay has leaned on offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase and defensive coordinator Chris Shula to keep the Rams competitive. Injuries have complicated the job, but Los Angeles remains firmly in the NFC playoff conversation.
Washington has also dealt with significant personnel changes. Offensive coordinator David Blough and defensive coordinator Daronte Jones need more consistent execution from a team that has shown flashes without stringing together enough victories.
The Rams have won the last two meetings, although Washington leads the all-time regular-season series 24-13-1. That history provides some context, but it won’t help either club convert a third down Sunday.
Both teams are coming off division victories. Los Angeles wants to extend its winning streak, while Washington hopes to turn its latest result into something more than another isolated bright spot.
It’s Week 9, Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington Commanders, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Commanders Stats From Last Week
Washington averages 327.1 offensive yards per game, including 200.6 passing yards. The Commanders generate 126.6 rushing yards per contest, ranking ninth in the NFL.
The offense scores 22.7 points per game. Its biggest concern is a 31.9% third-down conversion rate, which ranks 31st in the league.
Defensively, Washington allows 342.1 yards per contest. The Commanders have been considerably better against the run than the pass, surrendering 99.1 rushing yards per game.
Washington has recorded 16 sacks and 10 takeaways.
Its plus-seven turnover margin leads the NFL, a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating season.
Jayden Daniels helped Washington defeat Philadelphia with 217 passing yards and a touchdown.
The offense also produced 135 rushing yards, giving Quinn a balanced performance to build upon.
Terry McLaurin remains on injured reserve with a knee injury, while Daron Payne is sidelined with a foot injury. Those absences have weakened Washington at two important positions.
Receivers Treylon Burks and Dyami Brown have been ruled out for Sunday.
Defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton is questionable with a pectoral injury.
Rams Stats From Last Week
Los Angeles averages 384.4 offensive yards per game, fourth in the NFL. The Rams score 24.3 points per contest and generate 258.9 passing yards.
Defensively, Los Angeles allows 301.1 yards per game. Its pass defense ranks fourth, surrendering just 191.9 yards per contest.
The Rams allow 109.3 rushing yards per game. Their ability to limit explosive runs has helped keep opposing offenses from establishing consistent momentum.
Puka Nacua has 56 receptions for 565 yards and four touchdowns. He remains a dependable target in McVay’s passing attack, particularly when the Rams need a critical completion.
Kyren Williams has rushed for 548 yards and contributed another 242 receiving yards. His seven total touchdowns demonstrate the versatility he brings to the offense.
Davante Adams remains on injured reserve, while cornerback Jaylen Watson has been placed on IR following a shoulder injury. Tight end Terrance Ferguson is also out after suffering a hamstring injury during Friday’s practice.
Myles Garrett has been activated from injured reserve and is expected to play. Trent McDuffie, Colby Parkinson and Kam Curl are among the Rams listed as questionable.
Los Angeles has the stronger statistical profile, but its injury situation still demands attention before kickoff.
Rams vs. Commanders QB Matchup
Matthew Stafford has thrown for 2,146 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions through eight games. His experience reading coverage remains central to McVay’s offensive approach.
Stafford practiced fully throughout the week despite a right elbow issue. He carries no injury designation into Sunday’s game.
Washington counters with Daniels, who has thrown for 976 yards without an interception in five appearances. He has also contributed 236 rushing yards, giving the Commanders another dimension offensively.
Daniels practiced fully despite a left elbow issue. He also carries no game-status designation, putting Washington in position to use its regular starter.
Stafford is most effective when he can identify coverage before the snap and deliver the ball on schedule. Daniels creates different problems, particularly when a passing play breaks down and he escapes the pocket.

Washington needs to disrupt Stafford’s timing without exposing its secondary.
Los Angeles must maintain disciplined coverage when Daniels extends plays, because losing track of a receiver can turn a routine stop into a big gain.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington Commanders bottom line: Stafford’s passing experience and Daniels’ mobility create contrasting challenges for two defenses that need to execute under pressure.

Rams Commanders Free Pick: Rams -5.5
Here is my Rams Commanders free pick: I’m laying Los Angeles Rams -5.5 (-111). Washington has protected the football exceptionally well, but that hasn’t translated into enough wins. The Commanders are getting too little out of possessions that don’t end in turnovers, and I expect Los Angeles to make them pay for that.
The matchup favors a Rams offense that can attack Washington’s secondary without abandoning the running game. McVay has enough options to keep the Commanders guessing, and a defense giving up big chunks through the air isn’t where I’d want my money.
Washington can win the turnover battle and still lose the scoreboard battle by a touchdown.
Getting Garrett back gives Los Angeles another way to disrupt Washington’s offense. His workload could be managed, but even a limited role creates problems when the Commanders have to account for Aaron Donald on the same defensive front.
I don’t need Los Angeles to dominate every quarter. I need the Rams to capitalize when Washington’s offense stalls, build a lead and make Daniels chase it. At less than a touchdown, that’s a bet I’m willing to make: Los Angeles Rams -5.5 (-111).
