Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are the most intriguing team in the NFL. Why? I have not idea. The team brings back quarterback Dak Prescott and running Zeke Elliot. Zeke is not in limbo about his season to start the year, so he could put on a show in week one. Prescott still has a target on his back after last years mediocre output.

With Elliot coming into the year without distractions, this could be a big boost to a team that needs to stay out of the headlines. If the Cowboys offense can stay focused, expect a good year from the young Cowboys offense.

We all know the Cowboys can run the ball, but who does Dak pass the ball to? Prescott will be without long time Cowboys Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. Witten will be deeply missed. He was the teams go to guy when needing a first down.

Defensively, the Cowboys will struggle against the talented Panthers offense. Look for the Cowboys secondary to under perform and get exposed in week one on the road.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are one of the better teams in the NFC (on paper) to start the year. The Panthers will continue to go as Cam Newton goes offensively, but this season the team could have a new offensive MVP.

With Jonathan Stewart gone, the Panthers will give a lot more responsibilities to Christian McCaffery. McCaffery will be the Panthers vocal point against the Cowboys, and most teams the Panthers face this season.

Defensively, the Panthers are solid in the from seven. The team also returns arguably the best linebacker core in the NFL, and best linebacker in Luke Kuechly. The unit will have success against the Cowboys run game.

The secondary is where the Panthers are lacking this year. Look for the team to struggle throughout the season, but not in week one. Dallas does not have many options to pass to this year.
