Eagles vs. Bears Gameday
The Philadelphia Eagles arrive at Soldier Field for Monday Night Football with a 2-0 record, while Chicago sits at 1-1. Kickoff is set for 8:15 PM ET on ESPN and ABC.
Philadelphia hasn’t exactly taken the scenic route to its perfect start. The Eagles edged Washington 24-22 in Week 1, then needed a late touchdown to escape Tennessee with a 24-20 road victory.
Philadelphia is unbeaten, but two games in, the Eagles have yet to enjoy a comfortable fourth quarter.
Chicago has already lived at both ends of the spectrum. The Bears opened by hanging 59 points on Carolina before Minnesota dragged them into the mud and beat them 9-3 at Soldier Field.

The Bears also come into this one without Caleb Williams. His hamstring injury leaves Ben Johnson choosing between Tyson Bagent, who is working through concussion protocol, and veteran Case Keenum.
That makes Chicago’s running game more important than ever against an Eagles defense that knows exactly what happened the last time these teams met.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears Odds & Last 5
Philadelphia is a 4.5-point road favorite, with Chicago getting better than +4 at home after entering the week on the other side of the number. Williams’ absence and the uncertainty behind him have understandably changed the market.
The Eagles bring the cleaner record at 2-0, but neither victory was comfortable. Philadelphia beat Washington by two before scoring with nine seconds left to get past Tennessee by four.
Chicago’s two games couldn’t have looked much different.
The Bears rolled up 59 points and 592 yards against Carolina, then managed only three points in last week’s loss to Minnesota. That’s quite a two-week personality swing, even by NFL standards.
There is also some recent history worth remembering. Chicago went into Philadelphia last November and won 24-15 while rushing for 281 yards, with Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Swift combining for 255 of them.

Bears Stats
Chicago enters Week 3 averaging 31 points and 424.5 yards per game. Those numbers are obviously carrying some Week 1 shine, but the Bears have already shown one part of the offense that travels well: they can run the football.
Chicago has rushed for 425 yards through two games.
Swift has 169 yards and Monangai has 147, giving Johnson a legitimate one-two punch behind an offensive line built to move people. The Bears piled up 291 rushing yards against Carolina before Minnesota held the entire operation to nine points last week.
With uncertainty at quarterback, Chicago’s best friend is a running game capable of keeping the playbook manageable.
Williams won’t be part of the equation Monday. He has been ruled out with the hamstring injury suffered against Minnesota, an injury doctors reportedly view as carrying a three-to-four-week recovery timeline.
Bagent returned to practice Saturday and participated fully, but he’s officially questionable and still must clear concussion protocol. Johnson hasn’t committed to starting him even if he is cleared, leaving Keenum very much in the picture.
Defensively, Chicago’s first two weeks have been just as uneven. Carolina scored 37 in the opener before the Bears held Minnesota to nine, so Dennis Allen’s group has already shown it can clean things up quickly.
Eagles Stats
Philadelphia has scored exactly 24 points in each of its first two games while averaging 329.5 yards. The Eagles haven’t exploded offensively, but Hurts has been good enough in the important moments to get them to 2-0.
DeVonta Smith is coming off a 10-catch, 117-yard performance against Tennessee.
The receiving corps won’t be at full strength in Chicago. Dallas Goedert is out with a knee injury and Hollywood Brown is out with an ankle injury, while Smith practiced fully Saturday and carries no game designation.
Saquon Barkley is also available after dealing with a stinger. That’s a significant piece for an offense that would rather keep Hurts out of obvious passing situations and make Chicago defend every part of the formation.
The bigger matchup may come when Philadelphia doesn’t have the football.
Chicago is averaging 212.5 rushing yards per game, and the Eagles already know what this running game can do. The Bears ran for 281 yards against them last season, with Swift and Monangai taking turns moving the chains.
Philadelphia’s defense has yet to force a takeaway through two games.
That puts even more value on winning early downs. If the Eagles can force Chicago into third-and-long, the Bears’ quarterback uncertainty becomes a much bigger problem; if Swift and Monangai keep them on schedule, Soldier Field could get uncomfortable.
Eagles vs. Bears QB Matchup
Jalen Hurts gives Philadelphia something Chicago would love to have right now: certainty. He’s thrown for 467 yards and five touchdowns through two games while directing a pair of fourth-quarter wins.
Hurts was at his best when Philadelphia needed him in Tennessee.
He completed six of eight passes on the final drive, moving the Eagles 61 yards before Darius Cooper caught the winning touchdown with nine seconds left. That ability to handle late-game pressure matters in a matchup that has the makings of another tight finish.
Chicago’s side of the quarterback matchup is considerably less settled.
If Bagent gets the call, he knows Johnson’s system and gives Chicago more continuity behind Williams. Keenum brings 66 career regular-season starts and considerably more experience if the Bears decide to go that direction.

Either way, Chicago’s best protection for its quarterback is the ground game.
Swift and Monangai can keep the Bears out of obvious passing situations and prevent Philadelphia from turning this into a night where Bagent or Keenum has to win it with his arm.
Hurts owns the obvious advantage under center, but Philadelphia’s job is to make that advantage matter.
If the Bears are consistently facing second-and-5 instead of third-and-9, the difference under center becomes a lot easier for Chicago to live with.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears bottom line: Hurts gives Philadelphia the clear quarterback edge, but Chicago’s rushing attack gives the Bears a legitimate way to shorten the game, protect whoever starts and make the unbeaten Eagles earn another one late.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears Football Betting Trends
- The Eagles have gone 4-0 in their last 4 regular season games as favorites for the over/under.
- Also, Philadelphia are 3-0 straight up in their last 3 away games during the regular season.
- The Eagles are 5-1 straight up in their last 6 regular season games overall.
- Chicago has a 5-2 straight up record in their last 7 home games in the regular season.
- Additionally, the Bears have a 3-1 straight up record after a loss in their last 4 regular season games.
- The Bears have covered the spread in 9 of their last 15 regular season games.
Eagles Bears Free Pick: Bears +4.5
Here is my Eagles Bears free pick: I’m taking Bears +4.5. Philadelphia is 2-0, but both wins have gone down to the final minute, and now the Eagles are laying more than a field goal on the road.
Chicago’s quarterback situation isn’t pretty. Williams is out, Tyson Bagent still needs to clear concussion protocol, and Case Keenum is waiting if he doesn’t. The Bears can make life considerably easier on either quarterback by leaning on a ground game averaging better than 200 yards per week.
Chicago doesn’t need QB heroics here; it needs the run game to keep Hurts watching from the sideline.
That formula worked against Philadelphia last season, when the Bears ran for 281 yards in a 24-15 win. The Eagles are also missing Dallas Goedert, and their first two wins haven’t given me much appetite to lay 4.5 away from home.
For Monday Night Football, give me the home dog and the cushion.
Take the Bears +4.5.
