Raiders vs. Saints Gameday
The Las Vegas Raiders head to New Orleans on Sunday looking to protect a 2-0 start against the 1-1 Saints. Kickoff is set for 4:25 PM ET at Caesars Superdome, with CBS and Paramount+ carrying the game.
Klint Kubiak’s Raiders opened with a 27-13 win over Miami before going into Los Angeles and beating the Chargers 26-14. Las Vegas forced four turnovers last week, including two interceptions from rookie Hezekiah Masses.
Kubiak returns to New Orleans with a 2-0 team, which should make the old workplace introductions entertaining.
The Saints opened with a 31-30 overtime loss to Detroit before responding with a 24-17 road win over Baltimore. Tyler Shough has driven an offense averaging 383.5 yards through two games, and New Orleans finally gets to bring that attack home.

There’s plenty of familiarity here. Kubiak was New Orleans’ offensive coordinator in 2024, while Raiders offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko also coached with the Saints that season. Las Vegas leads the all-time regular-season series 8-7-1 and has won three of the last four meetings.

New Orleans is a 3-point home favorite, with the Saints around -170 on the moneyline and Las Vegas approximately +145. The total sits at 44.

New Orleans has produced plenty of offense itself.

One matchup should get plenty of attention: Las Vegas has eight sacks, while Shough has been sacked eight times. If the Raiders keep getting home, New Orleans could find itself playing a little more high-wire football than Kellen Moore would prefer.

Saints Stats
New Orleans is averaging 383.5 yards and 27 points through two games. The passing game has done most of the damage, producing 611 net yards while the Saints have managed only 156 on the ground.
Shough has completed 62 of 90 passes for 662 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s averaging 7.4 yards per attempt despite being sacked eight times.
Olave has quickly become his favorite problem-solver.
He has 18 receptions for 268 yards and a touchdown, while DeVaughn Vele has 133 yards and Juwan Johnson has 120. Travis Etienne Jr. leads a much quieter rushing attack with 71 yards on 17 carries.
The Saints have allowed 681 yards and 48 points.
Their run defense has been the soft spot, surrendering 273 yards at 5.0 per carry. New Orleans has four sacks and one interception, so the defense hasn’t generated nearly as much disruption as Las Vegas through two weeks.
Barion Brown and defensive lineman Christen Miller have been ruled out Sunday. Cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. is questionable, while Etienne progressed to full participation Friday and carries no game designation.
Shough has made New Orleans dangerous quickly, but eight sacks allowed is an invitation Las Vegas will happily accept.
The good news for the Saints is that Chase Young practiced fully Thursday and Friday. They’ll need pressure of their own against a Raiders passing game that’s already produced six touchdowns.
Raiders Stats
Las Vegas has scored 26-plus points in consecutive games to open a season for the first time since 2017. The offense is averaging 297.5 yards, but it has made its possessions count.
Cousins has completed 40 of 59 passes for 413 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s been sacked only twice, giving Kubiak plenty of freedom to keep attacking rather than constantly digging out of long-yardage situations.
Tre Tucker has supplied the explosives with 146 receiving yards on seven catches.
Ashton Jeanty leads the ground game with 150 yards on 44 carries. He’s also caught 10 passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns, giving Cousins another useful answer when defenses take away the deeper stuff.
The Raiders defense has been the bigger early-season story.
Las Vegas is allowing 284.5 yards and 13.5 points per game while generating eight sacks. Masses intercepted Justin Herbert twice last week, and the Raiders turned four Chargers turnovers into a comfortable road victory.
Brock Bowers is questionable after being limited Wednesday and Thursday before missing Friday’s practice with a knee injury.
Safety Treydan Stukes has been ruled out with a concussion, while Kwity Paye is questionable with an illness. Nakobe Dean, Folorunso Fatukasi and Darien Porter all finished the week as full participants.
Keeping Shough uncomfortable is the obvious assignment.
He’s already been dropped eight times, and Las Vegas has enough pressure to test whether New Orleans can keep throwing at its current pace without eventually paying for it.
Raiders vs. Saints QB Matchup
Cousins has opened his Raiders career with six touchdown passes in two games. He’s completed 67.8% of his throws for 413 yards and owns a 100.5 passer rating.
There has been some volatility.
Cousins has thrown three interceptions, but Las Vegas has protected him well enough to let him remain aggressive. He threw three touchdowns against both Miami and Los Angeles, with Tucker providing a legitimate vertical threat.
Shough has been considerably busier.
The Saints quarterback has attempted 90 passes already, completing 62 for an NFL-leading 662 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. His 305.5 net passing yards per game have New Orleans sitting second in the league through the air.

The concern is what happens before those throws get away.
Shough has taken eight sacks, and now he gets a Raiders defense with eight of its own. If New Orleans protects him, Olave and Vele give the Saints enough downfield juice to stress a Las Vegas secondary that hasn’t faced this much passing volume.
Cousins has been more efficient.

Kirk Cousins has six touchdown passes in two starts, and the Raiders have protected him well. New Orleans has allowed 340.5 yards per game, including 136.5 on the ground, which gives Las Vegas more than one way to attack.
Shough can push the pace, and Cousins has already shown he’s willing to answer with touchdowns.
The other side is where this gets interesting. Tyler Shough leads the league with 662 passing yards, Chris Olave already has 268 receiving yards, and the Saints have produced 767 yards of offense despite Shough taking eight sacks.
That’s the danger for New Orleans, because Las Vegas has eight sacks of its own. Pressure can kill drives, but it can also create short fields and quick points when a quarterback is throwing it this often.
Both offenses have enough answers for me to trust the scoring.
