08-05-17 | Rangers -124 v. Twins | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 51 m | Show
Minnesota (52-55) and the Rangers (52-57) still hold out hope as they continue their four-game series on Saturday. The Twins will send right-hander Kyle Gibson (6-8, 6.08 ERA) to the mound against Texas left-hander Cole Hamels (5-1, 4.01). Rangers ace Cole Hamels (5-1, 4.01 ERA) gave up four runs off six hits while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision to the Mariners on Monday. He'll look to rebound tonight in a must win game if the Texas Rangers expect to make a run at the playoffs. Hamels, who sports a 1.13 WHIP and is 4-1 with a 4.04 ERA in all evening games this year, knows he needs to get after the home team Twins tonight and provide opportunity for his ball club to score this win. The home side counters with the Kyle Gibson (6-8, 6.08). Gibson returns to the rotation after one start in Triple-A when he pitched five scoreless innings with one hit allowed. Note that Gibson has been particularly horrible at home by going just 3-5 with a 6.71 ERA. The pressure is certainly on Gibson tonight as he will be pitching in front of his home crowd and he needs to prove he belongs in the majors. Nerves will play a factor and the situation at hand certainly favors the Rangers. Texas Rangers moneyline. |

08-05-17 | Blue Jays +159 v. Astros | 4-3 | Win | 159 | 5 h 8 m | Show
Toronto Blue Jays m/l A rough first game of the series for the Jays will provide ample motivation for them to steal a game today. And that's just what the Jays will need to do today, steal a win. No one has them pegged to win today going up against the powerhouse Astros. But Marco Estrada won't go down without a fight. He's 6-1 in his last 7 starts vs. the American League West and 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA in 11 career appearances (five starts) against the Astros. He's also been good overall as of late despite being winless in his last 11 games - he's allowed only three runs and seven hit in his past two outings. Sometimes playing on the road can elevate your game especially when you know it really matters and today is that day. The Astros are going with RH Charlie Morton (9-4, 3.77 ERA) who's been great as well as of late. But at 33 years old there are bound to be a few slip ups here and there and the Jays have some bats to get after him. The Astros also get All-Star Jose Altuve back today so there will be a lot of attention on him. I think if Estrada can manage him throughout the rotation, it could snowball across the lineup. Yes they put up 16 runs on the Jays last night, but that's one manager Gibbons and the Jays will forget quickly and move on. The dog odds are too great to pass up. Toronto Blue Jays moneyline. |

08-05-17 | Yankees +131 v. Indians | 2-1 | Win | 131 | 5 h 0 m | Show
The New York Yankees trail the RedSox by three games in the AL East and at this point in the season every game really counts. I think that sense of urgency will push them across the finish line today and score a win in Cleveland versus the Indians who are seeking their 10th straight home victory. The Yankees, who have lost four in a row and scored a total of six runs in those games, will try to end that streak tonight. Cleveland starter Danny Salazar (4-5, 4.63) has pitched well as of late and there isn't much reason to doubt him today, however this is Major League Baseball and things don't always go according to plan. Aaron Judge and a motivated Yankees lineup which has struggled on offense as of late will be primed to go. "Our hitting is getting better. We got 11 hits, but not a lot of runs." says Yankees manager Joe Girardi. He knows they are on the cusp of breaking out of this scoring slump and tonight being game 1 of a very important series - well there is no better time. New York will counter with LH Jordan Montgomery (7-6, 4.15 ERA) who despite a rough month of July, he has the potential of throwing big games and although only a rookie has gained valuable experience at this point in the season with 20 starts. In the month of June he went 4-0, 2.59 ERA and looked unstoppable, so we know the rookie has it in him. So with above +130 odds available on the Yankees, Ricky is siding with the pin stripes. New York Yankees moneyline. |

08-04-17 | Dodgers v. Mets +117 | 6-0 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 22 m | Show
An exciting series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets kicks off tonight with newly acquired LAD pitcher Yu Darvish and Mets ace Jacob deGrom and Ricky has spotted a situational angle he can't ignore. The Asian Assassin is again going against the oddsmakers and siding with the home team underdog New York Mets (m/l). Throw stats out the window in this contest, this game is overly similar in nature to last night's NYY v CLE game when newly acquired Sonny Gray was up against home town ace Corey Kluber. It's not that Gray played a bad game by any means, but there was enough pressure on him and the rest of the Yankees to perform well because their prize new acquisition was making his debut and in the end they fell flat because of that (3 errors in the first inning!). At the same time it provided added motivation for Cleveland and Kluber to want to win that much more. They didn't want to be a stepping stone for the new look Yankees and Kluber came out and pitched a dominant complete game including 11K's. Ricky sees the same scenario playing out tonight between these two ball clubs, where by deGrom will pitch really well due to this added motivation and Darvish along with his teammates will be trying too hard to impress and in the end they struggle. Take the New York Mets on the moneyline. |

08-03-17 | Mets v. Rockies -152 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 8 m | Show |
After bruising the books 3-0 yesterday (4-0 with his free play) including two underdog wins, Ricky is back again today looking to help pad his clients wallets even further. Ricky prides himself in being a situational bettor more than any other factor and he really likes the situation today with Rockies looking to win the rubber match at home vs. the Mets in an early 3:10 PM EST tilt. The Mets didn't roll over after a Game 1 series loss 4-5 and came back last night with a strong effort winning the game after being down early 0-5. They closed the game with 10 unanswered runs to win 10-5. Of course Ricky was on the underdog Mets last night, but he's not boasting - on to the next one! Today he's siding with the Rockies due to the short turn which is always a positive coming off a bad loss as teams are eager to get that bad taste of their mouths. As well, it doesn't hurt to sleep in your bed when you have to get up early the next day and prepare for a key game. The Rockies know the importance of finishing this series off strong and winning today's rubber match and I believe they come out much more motivated today had they won last night. On the mound is another great reason to side with Colorado. RH pitcher German Marquez has been incredible as of late throwing 39K's over 33 innings with a minimal 1.05 WHIP and a 3.51 ERA over his last 5 games. Marquez won his fourth straight start Saturday at Washington, allowing two runs and three hits while registering a career-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings. The 22-year-old Venezuelan has gone 5-0 with a 2.45 ERA in six starts at home since losing to Arizona on May 5. Marquez is now 9-4 on the season and looks to get into double digits W's today. Meanwhile Mets pitcher RH Rafael Marquez is going the other way, now 1-7 on the season with a recent 5.47 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP over his last 5 games. He's allowed five runs on three hits and five walks over 4 2/3 innings in a no decision at Seattle his last time out. He's 0-2 with a 5.60 ERA in three starts since the All Star break. Take the Colorado Rockies on the moneyline. |

08-02-17 | Mets +127 v. Rockies | 10-5 | Win | 127 | 4 h 29 m | Show
Another plus odds bet for Ricky as he continues to find value contrary to what the oddsmakers are posting. I believe this game to be an oddsmakers error and the dog odds are where the value lies. Both pitchers bring very little to the table so we are sure to see some runs. They combine for 20 total inninngs between the two of them over their last 5 games played each, so neither is a big part of the rotation. But what the Mets have working for their pitcher, RH Chris Flexen, is this is his 2nd start in the majors after getting rocked in his first (3 innings, 9 runs), so now that he's gotten his 1st game nerves out of the way you can expect a much more respectable outing this time around. The good news being the Rockies aren't countering with anyone to put fear into the Mets batters. RH pitcher Tyler Chatwood is 6-11 on the season with a 4.78 ERA and an even worse 8.47 ERA over his last 5 games. He has struggled at home with a 6.14 ERA in eight starts and he leads the National League in walks with 62 despite throwing just 107.1 innings. He's in poor form and with the Mets attempting to get back in the playoff race he's going to see maximum effort with the opposition. Take the New York Mets m/l. |

08-02-17 | Dodgers v. Braves +155 | 3-5 | Win | 155 | 3 h 20 m | Show
Ricky is loading up again tonight on Atlanta after narrowly missing on the same bet last night by a single run. Going up against the best team in baseball is a tall order, but this angle is specifically against the Dodgers pitcher Brock Stewart. Stewart, a 6 round draft pick back in 2014, has spent the majority of his professional career in the minors and disabled list. His 2017 stats are non-existent having pitched only 16 innings this season giving up 10 hits and 5 earned runs with 4 walks. Despite a poor record for opposing pitcher Julio Teheran, he's an experienced major leaguer who can give you some good innnings from time to time. The Braves aren't exactly walk overs with a 23-26 home record, so with +155 odds versus an unproven pitcher there is ample reason to grab the dog here tonight. Take the Atlanta Braves on the moneyline. Full Analysis coming soon! |
