10-18-16 | Cubs v. Dodgers UNDER 6.5 | 0-6 | Win | 105 | 19 h 42 m | Show
If you like pitching, then this has been the series. The Dodgers manager Dave Roberts isn't shy about bringing in his closer in the 7th inning. Rich Hill starts tonight for LA, but don't expect him to be around too long. Hill has gone into the 7th just one time in six starts with LA. Hill has been very good with the Dodgers, posting a 3-2 record and 1.83 ERA. The bullpen should be rested since only Jansen pitched in game two. Jake Arrieta will start for the Cubs. While Arrieta had a shaky September, he's still 18-8 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. This has been a big UNDER series, with 13 of the last 16 going under the number. I don't expect any different tonight with two very good pitchers and rested pens behind them. Take the UNDER |

10-17-16 | Indians v. Blue Jays UNDER 9 | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 19 h 52 m | Show
This series has been a closer pitchers duel thru the first two games, with the Indians winning 2-0 and 2-1. The Blue Jays pitching staff has been excellent, allowing three runs or less in five of their six post season games. Today's starter, Marcus Stroman, was 9-10 in the regular season with a 4.37 ERA. Stroman pitched great in the Wild Card game against Baltimore, allowing just two runs over six innings. The Cleveland pitching staff has been about as good as one can be. They held arguably the best offensive team in baseball to just seven runs in their three game sweep. Moreover, they have held a very good Jays team to just one run. The bullpen has been amazing, in the playoffs. In 16.1 innings, they have allowed just one run and have struck out 27 batters. Mike Clevinger will get the start here on Monday. Trevor Bauer gets the start on Monday, with a 12-8 record and 4.26 ERA. In his one post season start, Bauer allowed just three runs to the Red Sox. For me, this game will follow suit with the rest of the series and be low scoring. I'm taking the UNDER here in game three. |
|||||||
10-16-16 | Dodgers v. Cubs +122 | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 3 m | Show
The desperate Dodgers go with their ace but this is still a brutal spot for them. This is the 12th road game over the last 14 contests for Los Angeles. The Dodgers are on a 3-8 run on the road, as well as 4-12 in playoff road games. Los Angeles battled back to forge a tie before giving up five runs in the eighth inning to fall 8-4 on Saturday in the series opener. The Cubs have won all three playoff games at Wrigley Field and finished a major league-best 57-24 at home during the regular season. Starter Kyle Hendricks went 7-1 in his last 10 starts during the regular season and had a 1.68 ERA after the All-Star break. The Cubs are 26-10 in Hendricks' last 36 home starts. The Cubs are on a 48-19 run, including 56-22 in their last 78 home games. Play Chicago in Game 2. |

09-28-16 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -140 | 3-2 | Loss | -140 | 6 h 8 m | Show
 Last week of the season is always tough. Knowing which teams want to win and which are just using the time to give their younger players some experience. While the Jays look to have a solid hold on the top Wild Card slot, they still want to hold off Baltimore for home field and then the Tigers who are three back. So that makes this game between the top two Wild Cards a big matchup. The Jays took game one from the O's on Tuesday and have won six of their last eight. Francisco Liriano starts tonight. The Jays acquired Liriano from the Pirates back in early August. Liriana has pitched very well since moving leagues. He's had eight quality starts in nine games and is 2-2 with his new club. The one big knock against Liriano is walks, as he led the NL in BB's. The Jays also made a big move in the field, picking up Melvin Upton from the Padres. The O's will start Chris Tillman, who is 16-6 with a 3.84 ERA. Tillman has been solid for Baltimore. Tillman is coming off a start where he allowed three runs and five his in just 1.2 innings. Tough matchup here, but I like the Blue Jays to continue their winning ways. Play Toronto. |
|||||||
09-24-16 | Braves +146 v. Marlins | 4-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 47 m | Show
Miami is still mathematically in the NL Wild Card chase, but for all intents and purposes, their five game deficit is just large. Just eight games left for the Marlins and they will try and snap a three-game losing streak tonight. Wei-Yin Chen will toe the rubber, with a 5-4 mark and 5.04 ERA. Meanwhile, guess who's the hottest team in the NL right now? Yep, these Atlanta Braves. The Braves have won seven straight games. That includes the first two of this series, a sweep of the Mets and two of three from the Nationals. Aaron Blair will start tonight with a 1-6 record and 7.71 ERA. He is coming off a win at the Mets, where he allowed just two runs over six hits in a fine performance. I like the Braves here today. They have been hot and Blair can build off his best performance of the season. Take the value with the dog shocker here on Atlanta. |
|||||||
09-24-16 | Mariners -115 v. Twins | 2-3 | Loss | -115 | 11 h 47 m | Show
The Seattle Mariners still fighting for one of the two AL Wild Card slots. Starting play on Saturday, the M's are two games back of the Tigers and three back of the Blue Jays. They also have to contend with Baltimore and Houston, both of which are within three games of that last spot. That makes wins like today imperative if the M's hope to make the post season. Seattle has won two straight and 11 of 15. Areil Miranda will make only his 9th start of the season today. The Cuban native is 5-1 with a 3.88 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Miranda has won four straight starts, allowing just six runs over 25 innings. The Twins will try and put off the inevitable today as they try and avoid their 100th loss of the season. The Twins have lost seven straight games and scored just 10 runs total in those games. In fact, they haven't scored more than two runs in any of their last seven games. No offense will make it tough for Tyler Duffey today. Duffey is 8-11 with a 6.39 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. The righthander has allowed 19 runs over his last 15.1 innings. Little difficult to understand why the M's are just -1.33 on the road here tonight. Seattle has great value with all the cards lined up on their side. Take Seattle. |
|||||||
09-24-16 | Red Sox -142 v. Rays | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 48 m | Show
The Red Sox have opened up a 5.5 game lead in the AL East and look set to win another division crown. The Sox have been the hottest team in baseball, winning nine straight games. The Sox are not happy that David Ortiz is retiring, as the slugger is leading the team in Home Runs (37) and RBI's (124) in one of his best seasons ever. Twenty-One game winner Rick Porcello gets the start today. Porcello is 21-4 with a 3.08 ERA and an amazing 0.98 WHIP. Porcello could easily be the front runner for the AL Cy Young award. Porcello has not allowed over three runs in any of his last 10 starts and leads the league in walks (21) and WHIP (0.98). Tampa Bay has lost four of its last five games. They have the unenviable task of facing arguably the best pitcher in baseball today. Matt Andriese will toe the rubber with a 8-7 record and 4.41 ERA. Andriese has pitched well his last two starts, after allowing a miserable 14 runs over nine innings in the previous two. Hard to pass on the Sox with Porcello here. The price isn't too high and I will be surprised if the Rays even score. Take the Red Sox. |

9/23 04:10 PM  MLB  (955) ATLANTA BRAVES VS (956) MIAMI MARLINS. Take: MLB Dog of the Year, (955) ATLANTA BRAVES Reason: Miami is hitting just .235 in September while posting a 4.53 ERA. The Marlins acquired Andrew Cashner (5-11, 5.27 ERA) at the trade deadline hoping he would lead them to a NL wild-card spot, but the He is just 1-4 with a 6.18 ERA in 10 appearances (nine starts) with Miami. He was hammered for seven runs on six hits in two innings against the Braves on Sept. 12, the third time with the Marlins he has allowed six or more runs, and only lasted four innings in allowing three runs Sunday at Philadelphia. Cashner has posted an 8.82 ERA in four September starts, allowing 16 runs in 16 1/3 innings. The Braves are 13-3 in their last 16 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. And the Braves are 37-15 in the last 52 meetings in Miami. Play Atlanta.  |

09-21-16 | Yankees -130 v. Rays | 11-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 3 m | Show
The Yankees trying to hold onto their ever slimming chances for a AL Wild Card spot. The Yankees 3-7 run hasn't helped their cause. New York now 3.5 back for a Wildcard slot. New York will start ace Masahiro Tanaka tonight. The 27-year-old Japanese native is 13-4 with a 2.97 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Tanaka has put together six straight quality starts, where he's allowed two runs or less. As for the Rays, it's been a season to forget. Tampa Bay is 2nd from the bottom in the American league, only ahead of Minnesota. Alex Cobb makes only his fourth start of the season tonight. Cobb was one of those players brought up when the rosters expanded. The 28-year-old is 1-0 with a 3.06 ERA in his three starts. The Yankees are 7-0 in Tanaka's last seven starts against the Rays. I look for Tanaka to keep that string perfect tonight. Play New York. |

09-21-16 | Cardinals -137 v. Rockies | 1-11 | Loss | -137 | 6 h 3 m | Show
St Louis is currently in a three way tie for the two NL Wild Card slots with New York and San Francisco. Only two of these clubs will advance, so every win is important in these last two weeks. The Cardinals have won four straight games, including taking two from the Giants. Today's contest is important for the Cards, since they open a three-game series at the Cubs starting on Friday. The rest of the schedule though does help St Louis, with three against the Cubs, four at home vs the Reds and then closing out the regular season with three vs the Pirates. Luke Weaver starts today with a 1-3 record and 3.21 ERA. Despite Weaver's only one win, he has pitched well in all seven of his starts. Weaver has not allowed more than three earned runs in any start. The Rockies have lost the first two games of their series with the Cardinals, getting outscored 15-8. German Marquez makes his first start in the majors. Marquez was called up in early September and has three appearances out of the bullpen with a 5.06 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. The Cardinals have done well in this series, winning 30 of the last 42 meetings. Cards need this game tonight against an unknown Marquez. Play St Louis. |

09-13-16 | Padres +134 v. Giants | 6-4 | Win | 134 | 11 h 15 m | Show
San Diego is 4-4 the last eight games, winning three times as a dog. That included winning last night here as a +250 dog, a 4-0 triumph. Padres lefty Clayton Richard (2-3, 2.78 ERA) has been outstanding since joining the rotation, allowing a total of three earned runs over 30 innings in five starts. San Fran has been terrible since the All Star break and the Padres are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. Giants righty Albert Suarez (3-3, 4.37 ERA) is no stopper, so grab the dog again. Play San Diego. |
|||||||
09-13-16 | Rangers v. Astros -125 | 3-2 | Loss | -125 | 9 h 40 m | Show
Texas has the best record in the AL but they only have a +22 run differential for the season, so they've been in a slew of close games. Starter A.J. Griffin (4.92 ERA) has a 5.52 ERA on the road, off a loss at Seattle, 8-3, allowing 8 runs in 4 innings. The Astros are 22-10 vs. the American League West, plus 38-18 against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Starter Brad Peacock (3.38 ERA) has good stuff and the home team is 22-8 in Angel Hernandez's last 30 games behind home plate involving Texas. Play Houston. |
|||||||
09-13-16 | Orioles v. Red Sox -140 | 6-3 | Loss | -140 | 8 h 9 m | Show
 Baltimore plays better at home and the Orioles are 3-8 vs. a left-handed starter. Orioles starter Dylan Bundy was not at his best against Boston on Aug. 17, when he was rocked for five runs on nine hits, two home runs in 4 1/3 innings while suffering a loss. Boston wasted no time jumping to a big lead in the series opener on Monday as the first five batters all recorded hits in a five-run first inning en route to a 12-2 victory. Boston 2B Dustin Pedroia has recorded multiple hits in 13 of his last 16 games and is 19-for-27 in his last six contests at home. Starter Drew Pomeranz (10-11, 3.01 ERA) is throwing well and the Red Sox are 23-9 in their last 32 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Play Boston. |
|||||||
09-13-16 | Dodgers -120 v. Yankees | 0-3 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 5 m | Show
Los Angeles is on a 7-2 run. Dodgers lefty Julio Urias (5-2, 3.69 ERA) has not lost since being recalled at the beginning of August and allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last five appearances. The Yankees have dropped two in a row and the Yankees are 2-6 in C.C. Sabathia's last 8 home starts. Sabathia (8-12, 4.27 ERA) is winless in his last three starts and was bounced after four innings against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. The hefty veteran surrendered three runs (all on solo home runs) and seven hits in the outing and has yielded 13 homers in his last nine outings. Sabathia is making his third interleague start of the season and was rocked for 11 runs (10 earned) and 15 hits over 10 total innings in his two previous chances against NL teams. Play the LA Dodgers. |
|||||||
09-12-16 | Rockies -123 v. Diamondbacks | 9-12 | Loss | -123 | 11 h 42 m | Show
The Rockies salvaged a four-game split at San Diego with a 3-2 win on Sunday, thanks to Mark Reynolds 10th-inning home run. The Rockies go with Tyler Anderson (5-5, 3.35 ERA), who has had a fine season. Colorado hopes to keep slugging against Shelby Miller (2-11, 6.89 ERA), who is 0-2 with a 9.19 ERA in three starts versus the Rockies this season. Miller has been dinged for 16 runs, five homers. in 15+ innings by Colorado in 2016. The Rockies lead the season series 9-7 and have won five of the six meetings at Chase Field and the Diamondbacks are 9-23 in their last 32 vs. the National League West. Play Colorado. |
|||||||
09-11-16 | Rangers -125 v. Angels | 2-3 | Loss | -125 | 5 h 16 m | Show
The Texas Rangers have won two-straight games and six of their last 10. Texas has a comfortable 9.5 game lead over the Astros as they look for the sweep here today against LA. The Angels have lost four straight games, scoring just eight runs in the process. Jared Weaver makes the start, with a 10-11 mark and 5.37 ERA. Weaver has lost a lot off his fastball, averaging just 82.8 mph which likely accounts for a career-worst ERA. Colby Lewis is 6-1 for the Rangers, with a 3.21 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. Lewis has been on the DL since June. The Rangers would like to see Lewis return to the form he had before his injury. I like the Rangers here today against a team that has no incentive. Play Texas. |
|||||||
09-11-16 | Rays v. Yankees -123 | 4-2 | Loss | -123 | 3 h 57 m | Show
The Yankees are skyrocketing up the standings and reside a game behind Baltimore for the second wild-card spot in the American League. Yankees starter Luis Cessa (4-0, 4.07 ERA) has thrown well and New York is on a 20-8 run at home. Tampa Bay has dropped six of seven to highlight another lull in an otherwise forgettable season. Rays righty Matt Andriese (6-7, 4.58 ERA) has struggles and the Rays are 18-37 in their last 55 road games. Play the NY Yankees. |
|||||||
09-11-16 | Red Sox +135 v. Blue Jays | 11-8 | Win | 135 | 3 h 57 m | Show
The Red Sox go with hot Clay Buchholz (6-10, 4.99 ERA) in a big showdown game. He improved to 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA in his last four starts on Tuesday after allowing one run in 6 2/3 innings of a 5-1 victory at San Diego. The 32-year-old looks to continue his strong surge at Rogers Centre, where he owns a sterling 11-3 mark with a 2.18 ERA. Boston has the top offense in baseball and the Red Sox are 12-1 in Buchholzs last 13 road starts vs. the Blue Jays. Play Boston. |
|||||||
09-10-16 | Indians v. Twins OVER 9.5 | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 15 m | Show
The Indians have a pair of 30-home run hitters for the first time since 2002 after Carlos Santana belted his 30th of the season Thursday to join Mike Napoli (32). Cleveland has a dynamite offense and the team is on a 7-2 run over the total. Minnesota's Hector Santiago was acquired by the Twins in early August. Santiago had four straight losses before winning last time out against the White Sox. In addition, Santiago has allowed nine home runs in his six starts with Minnesota. The Twins are on a 39-12-2 run over the total at home. Play Cleveland/Minnesota Over the total. |
|||||||
09-10-16 | Royals -121 v. White Sox | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 43 m | Show
Kansas City looking at some last resort playoff positions here as they have lost two straight and six of 10. The defending MLB Champs are now four back in the AL WildCard chase. The White Sox are 14 back in the AL Central and 10 back in the WildCard. The bad news is that James Shields will start today. Shields is 5-17 on the season wit a 6.07 ERA and 1.64 WHIP. The 10-year veteran was thought to be put on the shelf for the rest of the season with back issues, but he's making a start today. Shields has lost five straight decisions and seven of his last nine. The numbers are just outright ugly since coming over from the Padres. The Royals start Edinson Volquez. Volquez has a 10-10 record with a 5.02 ERA. Despite a recent slip, KC still has won 10 of the last 14 road games and 19-9 in their last 28 overall. The Royals are also 25-10 in their last 35 meetings with the White Sox in Chicago. Play the Royals. |
|||||||
09-10-16 | Rays v. Yankees -134 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 25 m | Show
The NY Yankees have been hot, winning six straight and eight of the last 10 games. They have closed the gap in the AL East to just four games in a four team race. They are also just one-game back in the AL Wildcard race. The Yankees recent run has been a power packed one, evidenced by their 5-run or more output in five of those six games. Their ace, Masahiro Tanaka gets the start today, with a 12-4 record and 3.11 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Tanaka has won five straight decisions and allowed just nine runs in his last six starts (four of those coming in one game. Tampa Bay is the only team in the AL East that is out of any playoff contention, trailing the division lead by 20 games now. The Rays have lost two straight and six of the last 10. Chris Archer is 8-17 for the Rays, with a 4.06 ERA. Archer has a 2.63 ERA at home and a 5.79 ERA on the road. The Yankees are peaking at the right time and get their ace on the hill today. Play the Yankees. |

09-09-16 | Dodgers v. Marlins +123 | 1-4 | Win | 123 | 10 h 38 m | Show
Despite being 13 games back in the NL East, the Miami Marlins still have a Wildcard slot in their sites as they are five games back. The LA Dodgers have increased their lead in the NL West to five games over the SF Giants. The biggest news for LA is that they get their ace, Clayton Kershaw, back tonight. Kershaw had one rehab start in the minors for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, throwing just 34 pitches. His pitching speed was consistenly in the low 90's. Kershaw hasn't pitched since June 26, so his stamina should be greatly affected. The Marlins will also start their ace tonight in Jose Fernandez. The 24-year-old Cuban native is 13-8 with a 3.03 ERA this season. Fernandez has pitched great for stretches and then fallen apart at times. That's just what happened last time out, allowing six earned runs over 5.2 innings to the Indians. Prior to that start, Fernandez had pitched 13 scoreless innings. The main issue in this contest is the back of Kershaw and how long he can go tonight. There is just too much value here with the home dog to pass up. I'm going to take Miami until I see if Kershaw is actually "game" ready. Play Miami. |

09-06-16 | Royals +113 v. Twins | 10-3 | Win | 113 | 10 h 16 m | Show
The Minnesota Twins have lost two straight games and 16 of the last 18 games. Yet, tonight the oddsmaker has made them a favorite at home against the Royals. The Royals still in the hunt for a Wildcard spot, as they trail by four games. Kansas City has struggled a bit of late, going 2-4 in their last six games. Still, they took game one vs the Twins on Monday, 11-5. The Royals start Dillon Gee tonight, after recalling him Triple-A Omaha back on June 11th. Gee is 6-7 with a 4.33 ERA. Gee won his last start with the Royals, pitching six innings and allowing just one run to the Yankees. Ervin Santana starts for the Twins. Santana is 7-10 with a 3.54 ERA this season and if the worst team in the A.L would have an ace, Santana is it. Somehow Santana won his last start against the White Sox, despite pitching five innings, allowing 11 hits, two walks and two wild pitches. KC has won nine of their last 11 road games and 20 of their last 28 overall. The Royals are also 24-9 in their last 33 games at Minnesota and 44-18 overall their last 62. The Royals as a dog against the worst team in baseball is too much to pass on. Take the Royals. |

09-06-16 | Cardinals -125 v. Pirates | 9-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 11 m | Show
The NL Central division is all wrapped up by the Chicago Cubs, who now lead 2nd place St Louis by 16.5 games. However, the Cardinals currently hold one of the two Wild Card spots and lead third place NY Mets by just one game. Meanwhile, the Pirates are 21 back in the division and 4.5 back in the NL Wildcard race. The Cards have won two straight after a modest three-game losing streak. They took game one of this series with the Pirates, 12-6 on Monday. First round draft pick, Luke Weaver, makes his fifth start for the birds tonight. Weaver has a 1-2 record with a 3.86 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. While Weaver has a losing record, he has pitched well and kept the Cardinals in each of the four games he's started. Weaver is a strike-out pitcher, registering 17 KO's in his last 12 innings. The Bucs are in a tailspin, losing seven straight games entering play tonight. Pittsburgh's pitching staff has allowed 29 runs over the last three games. Ryan Vogelsong gets the not tonight, with a 3-4 record and 3.56 ERA this season. Vogelsong has split time between starting and the bullpen and is coming off a five inning, five run performance against the Cubs. The 39-year-old has had control problems, evidenced by his nine walks in the last 16.1 innings. The Cards have won 10 of their last 14 away games and have taken the last four games at Pittsburgh. The Pirates can't seem to win lately and a 39-year old pitcher doesn't seem to be the answer. I'm taking the Cardinals here on Tuesday. |

09-05-16 | Astros v. Indians -118 | 6-2 | Loss | -118 | 10 h 43 m | Show
 The Cleveland Indians look to put open up a bigger gap in their 5.5 game AL Central lead today. The Tribe has won six straight games and seven of their last 10. Mike Clevinger makes only his fifth start tonight. The 25-year-old rookie is 2-1 with a 5.30 ERA this season. Clevinger has mainly worked out of the pen with the occasional spot start. Don't expect him to be around too long today, likely getting into the fourth or fifth inning. The Houston Astros are out of the AL West race, as the Rangers are running away with this division leading by 9.5 games. However, Houston is in the thick of the AL Wild Card race, just two games back of a spot. The Astros dropped two of three to the Rangers over the weekend, but still have played well by winning 11 of 15. Mike Fiers will start today with a 9-6 record and 4.31 ERA. Fiers has been much better at home than on the road where he is just 3-3 with a 5.57 ERA and .296 BAA. The Indians have been very good at home, winning 36 of their last 51 games. In addition, the Indians have taken 17 of the last 23 games from the Astros and are 11-2 in the last 13 at Cleveland. Very short price at home with the Tribe here. While Fiers gets the edge in experience, Clevinger can keep this one close. I'm taking the Indians. [/private] |

09-05-16 | Royals v. Twins OVER 9.5 | Top | 11-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 44 m | Show |
The Royals have only won five of their last 10 games, and that means more teams between them and the final Wild Card slot. KC now trails in the AL Wild Card by four games with five teams ahead of them in the standings. After a great run in August, the Royals have now lost four of their last five games. Ian Kennedy will start today with a 9-9 record and 3.66 ERA. Kennedy is coming off his worst start since July 20th, allowing four runs over 6.1 innings. The Twins are the worst team in the AL, and they have shown that with a 2-15 run. The Twins gave up 30 runs in their recent four game series with the White Sox. Jose Berrios starts today with a 2-4 record, sky high 9.24 ERA and 1.97 WHIP. Berrios has allowed 18 runs over his last 16 innings. In addition, the 22-year old has walked nine batters in his last nine innings. This one could get ugly in a hurry. I'm taking the over and enjoying the show. |
|||||||
09-05-16 | Blue Jays v. Yankees -128 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 39 m | Show
Big series here for the Yankees as they trail first place Toronto by 6.5 games. This is the chance that New York has to cut into that lead and also improve on their Wild Card position. The Yankees are 7-4 in their last 12 games after taking the finale of their Baltimore series on Sunday, 5-2. Masahiro Tanaka has been stellar for the Yankees this season, posting a 11-4 record, 3.12 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. The 27-year-old Japanese native has strung together three outstanding starts, allowing just two runs over 19.2 innings and walking just one batter while striking out 18. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays hold a slim one-game lead over the Red Sox and three-game lead over the Orioles. The Jays lost two of their in their weekend series to the Rays, taking the Sunday finale, 5-3. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is 41-years old and while his best days are behind him, he can still put up the occasional good start. Dickey is 9-13 with a 4.43 ERA. The problem with Dickey's knuckleball is keeping it in the park, evidenced by his 1.57 HR to 9 inning ratio. Dickey also hasn't fared well against the tough AL East hitters, going just 8-21 in his last 21 starts. Furthermore, the Yankees are just 1-7 in Dickey's last eight starts at Yankee Stadium. Meanwhile, the Yankees are 35-16 in Tanaka's last 51 starts. Good spot here for the Bronx Bombers to tee off on Dickey and take the opening game in this important series. Play New York. |

08-31-16 | Twins v. Indians -1.5 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 9 h 1 m | Show
The Twins are on a 7-19 run, 6-20 in their last 26 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Indians starter Corey Kluber (14-8, 3.07 ERA) is 4-0 with a 2.20 ERA in five starts in August for Cleveland, which remains 4 1/2 games in front of the Detroit Tigers atop the AL Central. Cleveland has plenty of offensive punch, especially at home, and they face struggling Twins lefty Pat Dean (1-4, 6.24 ERA). Dean was hit hard early and often in a loss in Toronto, getting shelled for six runs on eight hits while coughing up a pair of homers in a three-inning stint. It was Dean's fourth appearance since his recall from the minors, with the first three coming out of the bullpen. The Indians are on a 38-18 run at home, 20-6 at home against a left-handed starter. Play Cleveland. |
|||||||
08-31-16 | Mariners v. Rangers +100 | 1-14 | Win | 100 | 4 h 45 m | Show
Seattle has a losing road record but opened as a favorite. Seattle has setbacks in four straight to fall to 1-5 on its seven-game road trip to reside four games behind Baltimore for the second wild card. The Mariners are also 3-11 in their last 14 road games vs. a left-handed starter and 2-5 when ace Felix Hernandez is on the road vs. a team with a winning record. Texas slugger Rougned Odor hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to send Texas to an 8-7 victory yesterday. The Rangers, who have claimed the first two contests of 25 straight games versus division representatives, have won four in a row overall and nine of 11 versus the Mariners. The Rangers are on a 42-18 run at home, 35-16 at home against a team with a winning record. Play Texas. |
|||||||
08-30-16 | Blue Jays -140 v. Orioles | 3-5 | Loss | -140 | 8 h 32 m | Show
Toronto has a powerhouse offense, 20-8 against the American League East. Red-hot Josh Donaldson is on a power binge with six homers and 11 RBIs in his last five games, giving the reigning league MVP 75 blasts in his first two seasons with Toronto. Blue Jays lefty J.A. Happ (17-4, 3.19 ERA) can join Boston's Rick Porcello as the only 18-game winners in the majors. The Blue Jays are 21-5 when Happ faces a team with a winning record. The Orioles are stuck with Ubaldo Jimenez (5-11, 6.62 ERA), losing 4 of their last 5. The Blue Jays are also 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. Play Toronto. |

08-29-16 | Nationals -1.5 v. Phillies | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 23 m | Show
The Nationals are 38-17 vs. the National League East. Nationals starter Tanner Roark (13-7, 2.99 ERA) is 6-2 on the road and has limited left-handed hitters to a .211 average in 2016. Roark is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in three starts against the Phillies this season and is two away from his career high of 15 wins in 2014 for Washington, which leads the NL East by eight games. The Nationals are 13-3 in his starts, 10-1 when he faces a losing team. The Phillies are 16-35 in their last 51 vs. a team with a winning record. Phillies RH Jake Thompson (1-3, 9.78 ERA) Thompson struggled through his first four major league starts, permitting 21 runs in 19 1/3 innings and the Nationals are 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Philadelphia. Play Washington on the Run-Line. |
|||||||
08-29-16 | Blue Jays v. Orioles OVER 10 | 5-1 | Loss | -105 | 8 h 22 m | Show
Close race in the AL East with Toronto in first and the Orioles just three back. Baltimore holds one of the two Wild Card slots, with a two game lead over Detroit. The O's snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday with a win over the Yankees, 5-0. Wade Miley gets the start tonight, with a 8-10 record, 5.51 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. Miley came over from Seattle in early August and makes his 6th start for Baltimore tonight. It hasn't been very smooth for the lefthander, allowing 14 runs in his last 11 innings for the Orioles. Toronto completed its sweep of Minnesota, scoring 32 runs in their three game set. Marco Estrada toes the rubber tonight. The 33-year-old righthander is 7-6 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Estrada hasn't pitched well lately, allowing 11 runs over his last nine innings with five home runs. Six of the last eight meetings between these clubs have gone over. With two struggling pitchers on the hill tonight, I like the OVER. |
|||||||
08-28-16 | Indians v. Rangers +104 | 1-2 | Win | 104 | 4 h 29 m | Show
Indians RH Danny Salazar is struggling to find the form he had in the first three months of the season. He has won once in his last seven outings and owns a 19.29 ERA in three August starts after losing at Oakland on Tuesday when he gave up six runs in four innings. The Indians are 5-15 in their last 20 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game. The Texas Rangers blanked Cleveland 7-0 on Saturday for their second shutout of the series as Mitch Moreland launched a grand slam in the first inning. Left-hander Derek Holland is 4-1 with a 2.74 ERA in eight career games against the Indians, takes the mound. The Rangers are on a 39-18 run at home and 37-18 when Holland faces a team with a winning record. Play Texas. |
|||||||
08-28-16 | Mariners v. White Sox -111 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 4 h 34 m | Show
Fourth straight road game for Seattle, scoring 12 runs the last five games. The Mariners are 8-20 away vs. a team with a winning home record. White Sox 1B/DH Jose Abreu is 13-for-37 with four homers during a 10-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 18 of his last 20 home contests, with the team on a 5-2 run. Starter Carlos Rodon is in a groove, allowing two runs or less in four straight starts and 7 of 10. Rodon threw 6.2 shutout innings and allowed just three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in a win Tuesday over the Phillies. Rodon's quality start streak is now up to four. He has walked just six batters in 24.2 innings over this stretch. He has been terrific in four starts this month, going 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA and is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in two starts against the Mariners. And the Mariners are 14-42 in the last 56 meetings in Chicago. Play Chicago. |
|||||||
08-28-16 | Pirates -120 v. Brewers | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 33 m | Show
Reason: The Pittsburgh Pirates are on a roll, winning 3 straight in this park. Andrew McCutchen stayed hot with two hits and an RBI as the Pirates pulled within 1 1/2 games of St. Louis in the push for the second wild card spot in the National League. The Pirates are 7-0 in their last 7 road games. Pirates starter Ivan Nova (10-6) is 3-0 with a 3.20 ERA in four starts since joining Pittsburgh at the trade deadline after tossing a complete game to defeat Houston on Tuesday. Meanwhile the Brewers are 16-35 vs. a team with a winning record. Brewers RH Chase Anderson (7-10, 4.99 ERA) is struggling and has a 4.63 ERA in five career starts against Pittsburgh. And the Brewers are 17-39 in their last 56 games vs. a right-handed starter. Play Pittsburgh. |

08/25 08:05 PM EST  MLB  (915) CLEVELAND INDIANS VS (916) TEXAS RANGERS. Take: (916) TEXAS RANGERS.  Reason: After opening a seven-game road trip with a 1-0 win at Oakland on Monday, the Indians were outscored 14-2 while dropping the final two contests. The Indians are 3-8 in their last 11 road games while the Rangers are 37-17 in their last 54 home games. Texas left-hander Cole Hamels (13-4, 2.80 ERA) registered his fifth straight quality start by limiting Tampa Bay to one run and three hits while striking out 10. It was the sixth time in seven outings that he has yielded two runs or fewer. And the Rangers are 29-8 in Hamels' last 37 starts. Play Texas. |

The Angels are 19-49 in their last 68 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Blue Jays are dynamite on offense and 55-26 vs. a right-handed starter, plus 23-9 in their last 32 games following a loss. Blue Jays lefty J.A. Happ (17-3, 3.05 ERA) is having a monster season and the Blue Jays are 21-5 in Happ's last 26 starts. Play Toronto on the Run-Line.  Submit |

8/25 1:10 PM EST  MLB  (911) BOSTON RED SOX VS (912) TAMPA BAY RAYS. Take: (912) TAMPA BAY RAYS Reason: The Boston Red Sox are off an extra inning loss while losing their prime talented young left fielder to an injury, a super defensive player. Red Sox wild man Drew Pomeranz (10-9) is on the mound, walking too many batters in San Diego and now Boston. Tampa Bay is on a 7-3 run. Tampa Bay has talented Jake Odorizzi (8-5, 3.63) on the hill, 5-0 in seven starts since the All-Star break with a 1.64 ERA and six quality starts. The Rays are 10-4 in Odorizzi's last 14 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance and the team is 4-1 when Odorizzi faces the Red Sox. Play Tampa Bay.  Submit |

08-23-16 | Astros -119 v. Pirates | 1-7 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 24 m | Show
The Houston Astros have won four straight games, but still trail the Texas Rangers by eight in the AL West. The Astros have closed the gap for the Wild Card, trailing for one of two spots by just 3.5 games now. The Astros took three of four from Baltimore and the opener from the Pirates on Monday, 3-1. Rookie Joe Musgrove gets the start tonight. Musgrove has a 1-1 record with a 4.18 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. The 23-year old righthander had three excellent starts for the Astros since making his debut on August 2nd. His last start wasn't very good, allowing eight runs and 11 hits over 5.1 innings to the Orioles. The Pittsburgh Pirates have to be very disappointed with how events have transpired this season. Pittsburgh trails in the NL Central by 16 games. Surprisingly though, not all hope is lost, as they trail in the Wild Card by just 3.5 games. The Bucs have lost four straight games after getting swept by Miami and losing last night's opener to the Astros. Ivan Nova makes his fourth start tonight for the Pirates after coming over from the Yankees. While the Pirates have won all three of Nova's starts, the 29-year-old righthnander has a 4.41 ERA for his new club. Nova threw just 62 pitches in his last start, a season low. The Astros have done well in IL play, winning 25 of their last 35 tries. Both clubs in the hunt for the Wild Card spot, but I like the visitor here today. Play Houston. |

08-22-16 | Rockies -115 v. Brewers | 2-4 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 11 m | Show
MLB Metrics Release: Colorado. Colorado has a powerhouse offense, second in the majors in runs scored, and heads to Milwaukee, a small home run happy park. Rockies RH Chad Bettis (10-6) owns a 4-0 mark in his last eight trips to the mound and the team is 7-1 in Bettis' last 8 starts. The Brewers snapped a six-game skid on Sunday with a four-run uprising in the ninth inning of a 7-6 triumph over Seattle. But Brewers RH Jimmy Nelson (6-13, 4.31 ERA) owns an 8.04 ERA in his last six starts, and the Brewers are 15-36 in their last 51 games vs. a right-handed starter. And the Rockies are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Milwaukee. Play Colorado. |
