05-08-19 | Angels v. Tigers UNDER 8 | 3-10 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 1 m | Show
Two teams that have been under clubs this year meet tonight as the Angels take on the Tigers from Detroit. The Angels took game one of this series last night, 5-2, going under the total. The Angels will start Tyler Skaggs tonight who has a 3-2 record in his five starts. Skaggs has a nice 3.12 ERA and 1.231 WHIP. Skaggs has been very good his last two starts, allowing just seven hits and two runs over his 11 innings for a 2-0 record. Meanwhile, the Tigers have gone UNDER in five of their last seven games. Matt Boyd will toe the rubber tonight for the Tigers. Boyd has a 3-2 record in his seven starts with a 3.05 ERA and 0.993 WHIP. Boyd has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts this season. I like these teams to go UNDER tonight with two very solid starters on the hill. Play UNDER. |
05-07-19 | Mets v. Padres UNDER 7.5 | 7-6 | Loss | -120 | 7 h 4 m | Show
The NY Mets look to snap a four-game losing streak tonight after dropping game one of this series to the Padres, 0-4. The Mets offense has abandoned them of late, as they have scored three runs or less in each of their last six games (all UNDERS). It's a good thing they have had solid pitching or they wouldn't have even been in those games. Noah Syndergaard looks to return to his old form from last year. Syndergaard has not been that good this year with a 2-3 record in his seven starts and a 5.02 ERA and 1.279 WHIP. Syndergaard did look like his old self in his last start where he went a full 9-innings against the Reds and allowed just four hits and no runs. In addition, he struck out 10 and walked just one in that outing. That's the Syndergaard that the Mets hope will be back tonight also at San Diego. The Padres will start Cal Quantrill tonight. Quantrill has just one start and in that game he went 5 2/3 innings, scattered six hits and allowed 2-runs. Quantrill does get the benefit of facing a Mets team that has really struggled to get runs tonight. I expect Syndergaard to keep his strong pitching going here tonight and this game to go UNDER. |
05-07-19 | Braves v. Dodgers UNDER 7.5 | 0-9 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 4 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves are coming off a loss in game one to the Dodgers, 3-5. The Braves had their three-game win streak snapped last night. The Braves will start Max Fried tonight. Fried is 4-1 in his six starts with five quality outings. Fried has been one of the best for the Braves this year with a 2.21 ERA and 0.982 WHIP. He's been even better on the road with a 2-0 record and 1.446 ERA. The Dodgers will also start their best pitcher this year in Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu is 3-1 in his six starts with a 2.55 ERA and 0.905 WHIP. Ryu is 3-0 at home with a 2.25 ERA and 0.900 WHIP. Ryu has not allowed more than 2-runs in any of his six starts this season. I like the UNDER here tonight with two of the best NL Pitchers on the mound. Play UNDER |
05-07-19 | Angels v. Tigers +120 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 4 m | Show |
The LA Angels and Detroit Tigers begin a three-game series tonight from Detroit. The Tigers took two of three in their recent series with the Royals and can improve to .500 tonight with a win. Daniel Norris gets the nod tonight for the Tigers. Norris is 1-0 in his three starts with a 3.00 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Norris is coming off a nice start where he went 5 innings and allowed five hits and one run. The Angels, losers of two straight, will turn to Griffin Canning tonight. Canning has one start under his belt this year and that was a 4 1/3 inning performance vs the Blue Jays where he allowed four hits and three runs. I like the Tigers tonight with a very good Norris on the hill. Play Detroit with Norris. |
05-06-19 | Marlins v. Cubs -1.5 | 6-5 | Loss | -118 | 8 h 53 m | Show
The Miami Marlins have one of the worst records in baseball with a 9-24 mark and bring a 3-game losing streak into today's game. The Marlins will turn to Sandy Alcantara today who is 1-3 overall in his six starts. Alcantara has a 4.86 ERA with a 1.560 WHIP and is coming off a 5 1/3 inning contest where he allowed six runs and seven hits. The Cubs have been red-hot, winners of seven straight games and now 19-12 on the season. The Cubs will start Cole Hamels who is 3-0 in his six starts this season. Hamels has a nice 3.19 ERA with a 1.091 WHIP. Hamels has allowed more than two earned runs just once since his opening start this season. I look for the hot Cubbies to dominate here today behind a solid Cole Hamels. I'm laying 1.5 runs with Chicago. |
05-06-19 | Twins +100 v. Blue Jays | Top | 8-0 | Win | 100 | 17 h 44 m | Show |
The Twins are quietly one of the best teams in the American League with a 20-12 record. The Twins lost a 7-inning game on Sunday to the Yankees, 1-4. Toronto also had a loss on Sunday at Texas 2-10. Martin Perez will start today for the Twins. Perez is 3-0 on the season in his four starts. Perez has a excellent 2.08 ERA with a 1.077 WHIP. Perez is also coming off his best start of the season, an 8-inning win vs Houston where he allowed just four hits and no runs. The Blue Jays have now lost four of their last five games. Marcus Stroman toes the rubber today for the Blue Jays. Stroman is 1-4 in his seven starts with a 2.20 ERA and 1.195 WHIP. Stroman is coming off one of his worst starts of the season, allowing six hits and five runs over 3 1/3 innings in a loss at the Angels, 3-6. Minnesota has been a good play this year with usually good prices. And today we get the better of the two starters also. Take Minnesota. |
05-05-19 | Astros -1.5 v. Angels | 10-4 | Win | 100 | 14 h 16 m | Show
Houston destroyed the Angels on Saturday, 14-2. The Astros improved to 19-14 on the season and snapped their 2-game losing streak. Justin Verlander starts today and is having another excellent season. Verlander is 4-1 in his seven starts with a 2.45 ERA and very good 0.864 WHIP. Verlander has been so consistent that he's allowed just one earned run in each of his last four starts (27 innings) with just five walks and 34 KO's. The Angels had their 4-game win streak snapped on Saturday, dropping them to 15-18. Matt Harvey toes the rubber today for the Halos. Harvey has a 1-2 record in his six starts with a lofty 6.54 ERA and 1.390 WHIP. Harvey not enjoying the kind of success he had in the NL with the Mets. The Angels will have a tough road today against one of the best pitchers in baseball. I'm laying the 1.5 runs with the Astros. |
05-05-19 | Twins v. Yankees -133 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 25 m | Show
The Minnesota Twins improved to 20-11 on the season with their win over the Yankees on Saturday, 7-3. The clubs have split their series thus far, with the Yanks taking game one and the Twins game two. Today, the Twins will send Michael Pineda to the hill. Pineda is 2-2 in his six starts with a 6.21 ERA and 1.483 WHIP. Pineda has been hit pretty hard of late, allowing nine earned runs over his last 10 1/3 innings. The Yankees have been one of the hotter teams in baseball, winning 10 of their last 14 games. They will send their most successful starter to the mound today in Domningo German. German is 4-1 in his five starts with a 2.73 ERA and 0.910 WHIP. German has won his last two starts, allowing four earned runs over 12 2/3 innings with just two walks and nine KO's. I like the Yankees to conclude this series with the Twins with a win. They have their best pitcher on the hill and they have been a hot team. Play the Yankees. |
05-04-19 | Diamondbacks +118 v. Rockies | 9-2 | Win | 118 | 20 h 59 m | Show
Arizona took game one of this series with the Rockies on Friday, 10-8. The Diamondbacks improved to 19-13 with the win, while the Rockies dropped to 15-18. Today, the D'backs will send Luke Weaver to the hill with a 2-1 record in his six starts. Weaver has a 3.74 ERA and 1.245 WHIP. However, he's been even better on the road where he has a 2-0 record in his three starts with a 2.87 ERA. Kyle Freeland will toe the rubber today for the Rockies. Freeland has a 2-4 record in his six starts with a 4.81 ERA and a 1.218 WHIP. Freeland is coming off a poor start where he allowed five runs over six innings in a 1-5 loss at Milwaukee. The D'backs are playing very well with the better pitcher on the hill. Take the Diamondbacks. |
05-03-19 | A's v. Pirates -113 | 14-1 | Loss | -113 | 9 h 17 m | Show
Lone action in Interleague play tonight has the Oakland A's traveling East to play at Pittsburgh. The Oakland A's have been in a recent free-fall, losing six straight and falling to just 14-19 on the season. The A's have allowed 5.0 runs per game on the season. They will turn to Brett Anderson here tonight. Anderson is 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.484 WHIP. Anderson is coming off his worst start of the season, going just 4 1/3 innings against the Blue Jays and allowing 10 hits and six runs. The Pirates have finally reached the .500 mark thanks to two-straight wins. Joe Musgrove will toe the rubber tonight with a 1-2 record. Musgrove has a nifty 2.18 ERA and 0.970 WHIP. Musgrove has been very consistent this season, not allowing more than three earned runs in any of hist five starts. Musgrove has been even better at home with a 1-0 record, 2.08 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. I like the Pirates tonight against the reeling A's. Take Pittsburgh. |
05-02-19 | Blue Jays v. Angels UNDER 8.5 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 105 | 21 h 57 m | Show |
Toronto and the LA Angels have both been good under teams this year. Last night's total was off the board with a late pitching change. Still, the Blue Jays are 11-17-1 O/U this season and the Angels are 12-17-1 O/U. The Jays will start Aaron Sanchez tonight. Sanchez is 3-1 with a 2.32 ERA and 1.323 WHIP. Sanchez has allowed just one earned run over his last two starts (9 innings) with just four total hits. The Angels will start Tyler Skaggs tonight. Skaggs is 2-2 on the season with a 3.15 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. Skaggs is coming off a 5-inning performance at Kansas City, allowing three hits and no runs. The clubs are 2-5-1 O/U in their last eight meetings and they are 3-7-2 O/U in their last 12 meetings in LA. I like the under here tonight. |
05-01-19 | Rays -1.5 v. Royals | 2-8 | Loss | -121 | 6 h 23 m | Show
Tampa Bay has one of the best records in baseball at 19-9. The Rays are doing this with a very good pitching staff. In fact, of their six starters, Morton has the highest current ERA at 2.75. Today's starter will be Blake Snell, the AL Cy Young award winner for 2018. Snell is 2-2 on the season with a nice 2.54 ERA and 0.918 WHIP. Snell has pitched great since his opening start where he allowed five runs. Since that start, Snell has allowed four total runs in four starts (22 1/3 innings). Snell did go only 3 1/3 innings in his last start vs KC as he was battling a toe issue. However, that seems to be fine now and we should see Snell back to his normal self. The Royals have struggled to a 9-20 record and lost two straight and eight of their last 10 games. This is game 2 of the Wednesday doubleheader and the Royals will start Glenn Sparkman. Sparkman was called up to make a spot start here in game two. Sparkman has thrown 6 2/3 innings of relief for the Royals with a 8.10 ERA and 2.25 WHIP. Tall order for Sparkman here against the reigning Cy Young winner. Take Tampa Bay on the Run Line in game 2. |
05-01-19 | Rays -1.5 v. Royals | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 3 m | Show
Doubleheader here on Wednesday as this contest was rained out on Tuesday. This game one matchup has Ryan Stanek making his eighth start. Stanek is a hard throwing reliever that has been started this year to basically old opponents to 1 or 2 scoreless innings. And, he's done a pretty good job with a 0.00 ERA in his 10 2/3 innings of work with no runs, one walk and 12 KO's. Jake Junis will start game one after missing Tuesday's rainout game. Junis is 2-2 with a 5.57 ERA and 1.485 WHIP. Junis has a 6.75 ERA at home in three starts this season. I like the Rays here in game one with Stanek doing his usual and not allowing any runs early. Play Tampa Bay -1.5 runs (game 1). |
04-30-19 | Rockies -111 v. Brewers | 3-4 | Loss | -111 | 8 h 25 m | Show
The Rockies bring a two-game losing streak into today's contest. The Rockies are now 13-16 on the season after their losses. German Marquez will start today for Colorado with a 3-1 record in his six starts. Marquez has a nifty 2.54 ERA and 1.051 WHIP. Marquez went seven inning in his last start vs Washington, allowing eight hits and three runs for the win. Marquez has allowed two runs or less in four of his six starts. The Brewers improved to 16-14 on the season with a win on Monday. Jhoulys Chacin starts today with a 2-3 record in his six starts. Chacin has a lofty 6.36 ERA and 1.412 WHIP. Chacin has just one quality start in his six outings. I like the visitor here today. Play Colorado. |
04-30-19 | Reds -118 v. Mets | 3-4 | Loss | -118 | 8 h 55 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds improved to 12-16 on the season with their win on Monday over the Mets, 5-4. The Reds have now won seven of their last 11 games. Luis Castillo is the ace of this staff right now with a 3-1 record and 1.23 ERA. Castillo has allowed just one run over his last 12 innings with 11 KO's and just one walk. The Mets dropped to .500 after yesterday's loss. Jason Vargas will toe the rubber today for the Mets. Vargas has a 1-1 record in his four starts with a 5.14 ERA and 1.786 WHIP. Walks have been an issue for Vargas with nine free passes in just 14 innings and nine KO's. I like the Reds today. We get a very good price with their Ace on the hill while Vargas has struggled with his control this year. Take Cincinnati |
04-29-19 | Astros v. Twins UNDER 8.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 12 m | Show
The Houston Astros have been a good UNDER team this yeare with a 11-17 O/U record. This is because they have a good pitching staff that allows just 3.7 rpg. Today's starter is Justin Verlander who is 4-0 on the season with a nice 2.61 ERA and 0.895 WHIP. Verlander looks in mid-season form as he's allow just one earned run in each of his last three starts (21 innings). That includes just three walks and 27 KO's. The Twins will start Jake Odorizzi. Odorizzi has a 4.37 ERA in his five starts, but has pitched much better of late. Odorizzi has allowed just three runs over his last 11 2/3 innings with one walk and eight KO's. Verland has been excellent and Odorizzi has been much better so I'll be on the UNDER here tonight. |
04-29-19 | Rockies v. Brewers UNDER 9 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 19 m | Show |
Colorado and Milwaukee both bring one-game losing streaks into today's contest. Both clubs have under teams this year, as Colorado is 12-14-2 O/U and the Brewers are 12-16-1 O/U on the season. The Rockies will start Kyle Freeland today. Freeland is 2-3 in his five starts with a 4.23 ERA and 1.193 WHIP. Freeland is coming off his best start of the season, going six innings and allowing just two hits and no runs in a 6-2 win over the Phillies. Zach Davies will toe the rubber for the Brewers tonight. Davies is having an excellent season with a 2-0 record in his five starts. Davies has a 1.65 ERA and 1.353 WHIP. Davies has yet to allow more than two runs in any of his five starts and has just five total walks and 19 KO's. The Rockies are now 1-4-1 O/U in Freeland's 6 road starts. They are also 18-45-4 O/U in Freelands last 67 starts. The Brewers are 7-24-1 O/U in Davies last 32 starts and 2-8 O/U in his last 10 at home. I like today's game to go UNDER. |
04-28-19 | Angels v. Royals OVER 9 | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 49 m | Show
The LA Angels dropped to 11-17 after Saturday's loss to the Royals, 4-9. The two teams have split the first two games of this series. The Angels have also gone over in four of their last five games and six of their last eight games. Matt Harvey will start today for the Halos with a 0-2 record in five starts. Harvey has a lofty 8.03 ERA with a 1.582 WHIP. Harvey is coming off a decent start where he allowed two runs over six innings to the Yankees. The Royals are 9-18 after Saturday's win. They will start Homer Bailey today. Bailey is 2-2 in his five starts with a 5.63 ERA and 1.333 WHIP. Neither of these pitchers have done well this year and today I'm looking at this game to go OVER the total. Play OVER. |
04-28-19 | Rays +141 v. Red Sox | 5-2 | Win | 141 | 12 h 41 m | Show
Tampa Bay and Boston have just a short 2-game series here with the Rays taking Saturday's game 2-1. The Rays improved to 17-9 on the season. Tyler Glasnow will start today and brings a 4-0 record into this contest. Glasnow has been excellent as he's got a 1.53 ERA and 0.921 WHIP in his five starts. Boston dropped to 11-16 after having their two-game win streak snapped. Chris Sale will toe the rubber for the Red Sox. Sale has not had a smooth start to this season at 0-4 with a 7.43 ERA and 1.522 WHIP. Sale has had only one quality start in five outings. Still, somehow the oddsmakers installed Sale and the Sox as a 1.45 or better favorite. I'm taking the Rays here today with a very good Glasnow on the hill against a struggling Sale. Play Tampa Bay. |
04-27-19 | Rangers v. Mariners OVER 8.5 | Top | 15-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 29 m | Show |
The Rangers bring a five-game losing streak into today's game at Seattle. The Rangers have had issues with their pitching staff as they now allow 6.0 runs per game on the season. In the first two games of this series with the Mariners, they have allowed the M's 19 runs. Which leads me to my play on the OVER today. The Mariners average 6.3 runs per game and have a 19-7-3 O/U mark on the year. Mike Leake starts for the M's today with a 2-2 record and 4.30 ERA. Mike Minor will try and hold back the Seattle juggernaut with his 2-2 record and 3.21 ERA. I am sticking with the Mariners over tonight, something they have done very well on the season. Play the OVER |
04-27-19 | A's v. Blue Jays -102 | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 4 h 26 m | Show
Oakland dropped game one of this series with the Jays on Friday night, 2-4. The loss snapped a modest 3-game win streak for the A's and dropped them to 14-14 overall on the season. Brett Anderson gets the start today for the A's with a 3-1 record in his five starts. Anderson has pitched well with three quality starts out of his five outings. Anderson has a 3.04 ERA and 1.275 WHIP. The Jays improved to 12-14 on the season with their win last night. The Jays have won seven of their last 10 games. Aaron Sanchez will toe the rubber tonight for the Jays. Sanchez is 2-1 in his five starts with a 2.77 ERA and 1.246 WHIP. Anderson is coming off a four inning, two hit and one run performance against these A's last time out. Sanchez only has one start at home this year and that was a five inning outing where he allowed no runs and just three hits. I like Sanchez here tonight and the Jays have played much better their last 10 games. Play Toronto. |
04-26-19 | Rangers v. Mariners OVER 8.5 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 20 h 17 m | Show |
Both these clubs brought a 3-game losing streak into today's game. The Rangers were 12-11 and the Mariners were 16-11. Both clubs are high scoring, with the Rangers averaging 5.5 rpg and the Mariners 6.0 rpg. The problem with both teams have been pitching, as both allow at least five runs per game. This was evident in game one of their series on Thursday, as the M's beat the Rangers, 14-2 to improve to 17-11 on the season. Yusei Kikuchi starts today for the M's with a 1-1 record in his six starts. Kikuchi has a 4.68 ERA and 1.316 WHIP. Shelby Miller toes the rubber for the Rangers with a 1-1 record in his four starts with a 7.63 ERA and 2.153 WHIp. Both pitchers have been poor this year and considering how these teams score runs, I look for another high scoring game here on Friday. Play the OVER. |
04-26-19 | Tigers v. White Sox OVER 9 | 11-12 | Win | 104 | 9 h 26 m | Show
The Tigers and White Sox begin their series here today in Chicago. Both clubs bring a 2-game losing streak into this series. The Tigers are 12-12 on the season and allow 4.1 runs per game. The Sox are 9-14 on the season and average 4.8 rpg and allow 5.6 rpg. The Sox are also 14-9 O/U on the season. Detroit will start Daniel Norris who is 1-0 in his only start of the season. Norris went five solid innings and allowed two hits and no runs. The White Sox will send Carlos Rodon to the hill tonight. Rodon is 3-2 in his five starts with a 2.89 ERA and 1.107 WHIP. Both these pitchers have been good, but their teams are not. The bullpens are suspect and neither pitcher will go much past the fifth inning. It might not be early, but I expect runs in this game and will take the OVER. |
04-26-19 | A's v. Blue Jays -128 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 23 m | Show
Oakland has improved to 14-13 on the season with their 3-game win streak. The A's are coming off a sweep of the Texas Rangers. Today they travel to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays. The Jays are 11-14 on the season and have lost two straight after a nice 6-1 run. Marcus Stroman will start today for the Blue Jays. Stroman is 1-3 in his five starts but has pitched very well. Stroman has a 1.76 ERA and 1.239 WHIP and is coming off a 8-inning performance at Oakland where he allowed just one run. Stroman has now gone 12 inning and allowed just one run. The A's will turn to Michael Fiers today. Fiers is 2-2 in his six starts with a 8.28 ERA and 1.720 WHIP. Fiers has been consistently bad, especially recently where he's allowed 18 runs over his last three starts (10 innings total). That being said, I like the Blue Jays here today. They have played better lately and have the much better starter on the hill. Play Toronto. |
04-25-19 | Yankees -110 v. Angels | Top | 5-11 | Loss | -110 | 19 h 25 m | Show |
The Yankees extended their win streak to 6-games with a come-from-behind win on Wednesday night at LA Angels. The Yanks got down 0-5 and clawed their way back before scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 9th to win 6-5. Today, the 14-10 Yankees look to continue their winning streak with Masahiro Tanaka on the hill. Tanaka is 2-1 in his five starts with a nice 2.76 ERA and 1.227 WHIP. Tanaka is coming off an excellent start where he went 7 innings and allowed just four hits and one run to the Royals in a 9-2 win. The Angels dropped to 9-16 on the season with their loss on Wednesday. The Halos will send Trevor Cahill to the mound tonight. The Angels are just 1-4 in Cahill's five starts while Cahill is 1-2. Cahill has a 5.47 ERA and 1.177 WHIP. Cahill has gotten hit hard his last couple of outings, allowing 11 hits and nine earned runs over just 8 1/3 innings. I like the Yanks to extend their win streak here tonight with Tanaka on the mound. Play New York. |
04-24-19 | Dodgers v. Cubs +105 | 6-7 | Win | 105 | 9 h 1 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs took game one of this series with the Dodgers on Tuesday, 7-2. It was the club's second win in a row and sixth in their last seven games. The Cubs will send Cole Hamels to the hill tonight. Hamels is 3-0 in his four starts with a nifty 2.77 ERA and 0.846 WHIP. Hamels has been very good, going 15 innings in his last two starts, allowing just seven hits and one earned run. In addition, he has no walks in any of his last three starts (21 innings) with 19 KO's. The Dodgers are 15-10 on the season. They will send Walker Buehler to the mound tonight. Buehler has a 2-0 record, but a fairly high 5.40 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. Buehler is coming off his best start of the season, allowing just three hits and no earned runs over 6 1/3 innings to the Reds. Still, hard to pass on the Cubs here tonight with a very good Hamels on the mound and the Cubs a slight dog play. I'm taking Chicago tonight. |
04-24-19 | White Sox v. Orioles -118 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 1 m | Show |
Two teams with nine wins each meet here this evening as the Baltimore Orioles host the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox are off a loss last night to these Orioles, 1-9. The teams have split the first two games of this series. Ervin Santana starts tonight for the Sox with a 0-1 record in his two starts. Santana has a lofty 10.38 ERA and 2.191 WHIP. Santana has gone just 8 2/3 total innings and has allowed 13 hits and 10 runs. Walks have also been an issue with six free passes and just four KO's. The O's snapped a four-game losings streak with a win last night. John Means is 0-2 in his two starts, but unlike Santana he has a good 2.25 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. Means has gone eight total innings and allowed eight hits and two total runs. I like the O's here tonight as Santana has yet to find any groove and Means has been decent. Play Baltimore. |
04-24-19 | Royals v. Rays -1.5 | 10-2 | Loss | -117 | 2 h 6 m | Show
Early start here today as the red-hot Rays host the Kansas City Royals. Good news for the Rays is the return of Blake Snell today. Snell had a broken toe but looks to return here today. Snell is the reigning Cy-Young winner and a fluke accident had him with an ailing toe. But he and the Rays are confident his toe won't affect his pitching performance. Tampa is 16-8 on the season and has won two straight games. They face a 7-17 KC squad that now has lost five straight. The Royals will start Jake Junis who is 1-2 on the season. Junis has a 6.26 ERA and 1.537 WHIP. No brainer for me in this one. Snell is the best and if he's pitching he's healthy. Don't expect the struggling Royals to get much if anything here. I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Rays. |

04-23-19 | Royals v. Rays -1.5 | 2-5 | Win | 110 | 6 h 10 m | Show
Tampa Bay snapped it's short 4-game losing streak with a win on Monday over Kansas City, 6-3. Ryan Stanek starts today in their unique relief/starter package. Stanek will only go one or two innings, but he's been brilliant in this mode. Stanek has started five games, gone eight innings and allowed just two hits and no runs. He's also walked just one batter and struck out 11. The Royals have lost four straight and dropped to 7-16 on the season. Homer Bailey will get the start today for the Royals. Bailey has pitched well with a 2-1 record, 4.30 ERA and 1.087 WHIP. After a pair of shaky starts, Bailey has put together two nice starts where he's allowed just one run over 13 innings. Still, the Rays are playing great, especially in this role where they start a relief pitcher like Stanek. I'm going to lay the 1.5-runs here today with the Rays. Take Tampa Bay -1.5 Runs. |
04-23-19 | Braves -107 v. Reds | 6-7 | Loss | -107 | 6 h 40 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves have won two-straight games and improved to 11-10 on the season. The Braves have scored well, averaging 5.4 runs per game. It's their pitching that has been suspect, allowing 4.9 runs per game. Kevin Gausman will start today for the Braves with a 1-1 record. Gausman has a nice 2.75 ERA and very good 0.763 WHIP in his previous three starts. Gausman also has 22 KO's in just 19 2/3 innings with just six walks. The Reds had yesterday off after losing on Sunday to the Padres 3-4. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak for Cincinnati. Sonny Gray will toe the rubber today for the Reds. Gray is 0-3 in his four starts with a 2.79 ERA and 0.931 WHIP. Gray has received just seven total runs of support in his four starts and twice he received no runs of support. Gray isn't the problem here, it's the Reds lack of offense. Don't expect that to improve either against a very good Gausman today. Take Atlanta. |
04-22-19 | Rangers +133 v. A's | Top | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 3 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers improved to 12-8 on the season with two straight wins over the weekend. The Rangers have averaged 5.8 runs per game this season. Today they are nice little dog here at Oakland who is just 11-13 on the season and on a three-game losing streak. Mike Minor will start for the Rangers. Minor is 2-1 in four starts with a nifty 2.60 ERA and very good 0.940 WHIP. Minor is coming off a complete game shutout win over the Angels where he allowed just three hits and struck out seven. The A's will try and snap a 3-game losing streak with Chris Bassitt making his first start of the season. Bassitt was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Marco Estrada who went on the DL with a lumbar strain. Don't expect to see a lot of Bassitt today as he will be on a pitch count. The Rangers with a solid pitcher and a dog price is too much for me to pass on here today. Take Texas with Minor. |
04-22-19 | Diamondbacks v. Pirates UNDER 7.5 | 12-4 | Loss | -113 | 6 h 2 m | Show
Arizona is coming off a loss on Sunday to the Cubs as they dropped to 11-11 on the season. The D'backs will send Zack Godley to the mound today. Godley is 1-1 with a 6.26 ERA and 1.391 WHIP. However, Godley looks to continue off a very good start last time out. Godley went six solid innings at Atlanta where he allowed five hits and two runs in a 3-2 no decision. The Pirates have been one of the better under teams this year, going 7-12 O/U in their 19 games. This in big part to the staff allowing just 3.1 runs per game. Joe Musgrave has also been a big part of the unders as all three of his starts have gone under the total. Musgrove is 1-1 in three starts with a 0.89 ERA and 0.836 WHIP. Musgrove has also walked just four and struck out 20. I expect to see Godley build on his excellent outing last time and with Musgrove already in a groove, I expect a low scoring game here today. Play the UNDER. |
04-21-19 | Reds +134 v. Padres | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 13 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds continue to play better as they have now won three straight games, all from the Padres as they wrap up this four-game series today. The Reds once again shut down the Padres offense, limiting them to just two-runs again on Saturday for the win. That means they have held San Diego to just five total runs in this series. Tyler Mahle is 0-1 in his three starts, but has pitched well. Mahle has a 2.65 ERA and 1.294 WHIP in his 17 innings of work. Mahler has walked just four and struck out 15 so far. The Padres have lost six straight games and fallen to .500 at 11-11 after starting the season 11-5. The Padres haven't scored more than two runs in any of their last five games. Joey Lucchesi will toe the rubber today for the Padres. Lucchesi is 2-2 in his four starts with a 5.06 ERA and 1.313 WHIP. Lucchesi has got hit hard in his last two starts, going just 11 innings, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs. Until the Padres get their act back together I'll keep playing these live dogs against them. Play the Reds. |
04-21-19 | Mets v. Cardinals OVER 8.5 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 2 h 18 m | Show
Two of the best OVER teams in baseball this year meet on the diamond today. The New York Mets are 14-4-2 O/U in their first 20 games with a 6.4 runs allowed per game. The St Louis Cardinals are 12-6-2 O/U and allow 4.5 runs per game. The Mets are 10-2-2 O/U in their last 14 road games and 4-1-1 O/U in their last 6 road games vs a right handed starter. St Louis is 22-8-2 O/U in their last 32 games overall. Mets starter Noah Syndergaard has a 5.63 ERA in his four starts with a 1.125 WHIP. Dakota Hudson is 0-1 with a 6.39 ERA in his three starts this season. Hudson allowed six runs over 3 2/3 innings in his last start. Two great over teams with two struggling starters on the hill. That looks like an OVER to me. Play the OVER. |
04-21-19 | Red Sox v. Rays UNDER 8 | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 13 m | Show
Tampa Bay has lost three-straight games, two of those to the Red Sox. Still, the Rays have a excellent 14-7 record on the season thanks in big part to one of the best pitching staffs. The Rays pitching staff has held opponents to just 2.9 runs per game this season. Tyler Glasnow has been a big part of that success, posting a perfect 4-0 record in his four starts with a 1.13 ERA and 0.875 WHIp. Glasnow has allowed just three total runs in 24 innings of work with just three walks and 24 KO's. The Red Sox have won two straight, but still have improved to just 8-13 on the season. Their championship hangover seems to maybe finally be clearing now. David Price will toe the rubber today for the defending champs. Price got hit hard in his first two games, allowing eight runs over 12 innings. He rounded nicely last time out, allowing no runs and just three hits over seven innings. Glasnow has been excellent on the hill and I look for him to continue that success here today. Play the UNDER. |
04-20-19 | Reds -110 v. Padres | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 41 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds started the season horribly, winning just one time in their first nine games. Then they won four straight and again lost four straight. Now they have won two straight over the host team San Diego, winning the opener 4-1 and then yesterday 3-2, both as dogs. Luis Castillo gets the start today for the Reds with a 1-1 record in his four starts. Castillo has a nifty 1.46 ERA with an impressive 0.892 WHIP. Castillo has not allowed over two runs in any of his four starts this season. The Padres have now lost five straight games to drop to 11-10 on the season. Eric Lauer will toe the rubber today for the Padres. Lauer is 2-2 in his four starts with a 4.91 ERA and 1.364 WHIP. Lauer has been ok, but nothing spectacular. And against today's starter in Castillo, Lauer will have to better then he has. This game basically a pick'em and I like the red-hot Castillo here. Play Cincinnati. |
04-20-19 | Phillies v. Rockies +106 | 8-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 11 m | Show
The Colorado Rockies had a rocky start to the season with a 4-12 beginning. However, they seem to have turned things around of late, winning five-straight games. The Rockies have taken two straight from the Phillies, outscoring Philly 10-5 in the process. The pitching has been excellent during this five-game stretch, allowing less than 2-runs per game average. Antonio Senzatela will start today for the Rockies. Senzatela has a fine 1.35 ERA in his only start, allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings to the Padres to get the win. Philly started the season 11-6 before losing its last two games to Colorado and dropping to 11-8. Aaron Nola gets the start today for Philly and is 1-0 in his four starts this year. Nola has a lofty 7.45 ERA and 1.655 WHIP. Nola has also had control issues, walking 11 batters in just 19 1/3 innings. The Rockies are hot and they have a very good pitcher on the hill today. I am taking Colorado tonight. |
04-20-19 | Blue Jays +129 v. A's | 10-1 | Win | 129 | 15 h 17 m | Show
The Blue Jays beat the A's on Friday evening, 5-1. The win improved the Jays to 9-12 on the season and winners of two straight. The A's loss on Friday dropped them to .500 at 11-11. The Jays will start Matt Shoemaker today. Shoemaker is 3-0 in his four starts with a nifty 1.75 ERA and 0.857 WHIP on the season. In addition, Shoemaker has 23 KO's to nine walks. Michael Fiers starts today for Oakland. Fiers is 2-1 in his five starts with a 7.06 ERA and 1.569 WHIP. Fiers has been hit hard in his last two starts, allowing 12 runs and 14 hits over just 6 2/3 innings. Hard to pass on the Blue Jays as a nice dog here today with a very hot Shoemaker on the hill and Fiers struggling very badly in his last two starts. Play Toronto. |
04-19-19 | Giants v. Pirates UNDER 7.5 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 16 m | Show
Two teams that have both been good under teams so far this year meet tonight as the Pirates host the Giants. Pittsburgh is 10-6 on the season and 7-9 Over/Under. They have scored just 3.7 rpg and allowed 3.4 rpg. Jordan Lyles will start today for the Bucs with a 1-0 record in his two starts. Lyles has pitched very well so far, with a 0.82 ERA and 0.909 WHIP. Lyles has allowed just one run over 11 innings of work with four BB's and 12 KO's. The Giants have struggled to a 8-12 record and average just 3.1 rpg while allowing 3.6 rpg. Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber today for the Giants. Bumgarner is 1-2 in his four starts with a decent 3.12 ERA and 0.923 WHIP. Bumgarner went seven innings in his last start vs the Rockies and allowed just two runs and six hits with 7 KO's and no walks. Bumgarner has three good starts out of four and with these pitchers on the hill today I'm taking the UNDER. |
04-19-19 | Red Sox v. Rays -113 | Top | 6-4 | Loss | -113 | 7 h 56 m | Show |
Tampa Bay continues their red-hot start to the season with a 14-5 record, though they did lose last night to the Orioles, 5-6. The Rays have won eight of their last 10 games as they prepare for the defending champs. The Rays have perfected this starter by bullpen that we have seen dating back to last year. Once again Ryan Stanek will start and go his one or two innings. This really gets the Rays off to a good start as Stanek has pitched six innings in his four starts, but allowed just two hits and no runs with no walks and 11 KO's. Stanek then hands the ball over to a very good bullpen. This has resulted in a 3-1 record so far for the Rays. The Red Sox have not had a good start to the season at 6-13 and losers of three straight. The pitching has been poor, allowing 6.3 runs per game this season. Eduardo Rodriquez starts today for Boston with a 1-2 record in his three starts. Rodriquez has a lofty 7.98 ERA with a 1.704 WHIP. The Rays look for real this year and against a struggling Red Sox team, I like this play a lot tonight on the Rays. Take Tampa Bay. |
04-18-19 | Dodgers v. Brewers +101 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
Both these clubs have won 12 games so far on the young season. The Dodgers have won four straight games while the Brewers have lost one in a row. Both teams are scoring well, with LA averaging 6.1 rpg and the Brewers averaging 5.2 rpg. The Dodgers will start Julio Urias today with a 0-1 record in his three starts. Urias has a lofty 5.27 ERA and 1.317 WHIP. Urias not pitching as well as expected after a solid preseason. Urias has walked five and struck out just 13. Urias allowed six runs over five innings in his last start against these same Brewers. Zach Davies will toe the rubber today for Milwaukee. Davies is 2-0 in his three starts with a fine 1.53 ERA and 1.302 WHIP. Davies has allowed just three earned runs over 17 2/3 innings, yet he and the Brewers are a +1.00 even money bet here today. Urias has not been all that good and the Brewers have already seen him and hit him hard. I'll take Milwaukee at home with this excellent price today. Play Milwaukee. |
04-18-19 | Blue Jays v. Twins UNDER 8 | 7-4 | Loss | -103 | 2 h 10 m | Show
The Blue Jays are off to a 7-12 record this season after losing game three of this series on Wednesday, 1-4. The Jays look to take three of four in this series today with Clay Buchholz on the mound. Buchholz is 0-0 on the season after just one start. His lone start was very good, going six inning allowing six hits and just one run. The Jays took that game over Tampa Bay 3-1 as a +1.90 dog. The Twins are 9-6 on the young season and look to split the series with the Jays today. Michael Pineda has also been solid so far this year with a 2-0 record in three starts. Pineda has gone 15 total innings, allowed 13 hits, five runs and just two walks with 15 KO's. Both these teams have solid starters on the hill today and I like this game to go under the total. Play UNDER. |
04-18-19 | Blue Jays +164 v. Twins | 7-4 | Win | 164 | 2 h 10 m | Show
The Blue Jays are off to a 7-12 record this season after losing game three of this series on Wednesday, 1-4. I see the Jays as a solid value here as the big dog. They did it once already with Buchholz on the hill, I see them doing it again today. Take Toronto. |
04-17-19 | Angels v. Rangers -122 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 1 m | Show |
These two clubs have started about the same this year with the LA Angels at 8-9 and the Texas Rangers at 9-7. The Rangers bring a three-game win streak into today's contest while the Halos bring a two-game losing streak. The Angels also average just 3.9 runs per game compared to the Rangers 5.6 runs per game. Matt Harvey starts for the Angels today. Harvey has been hit hard since coming over to the A.L. Harvey has a 0-1 record in his three starts with a 10.05 ERA and 1.954 WHIP. Harvey has allowed 14 earned runs in his last 8 1/3 innings with four walks and 10 KO's. Lance Lynn toes the rubber for the Rangers today. Lynn also a longtime Senior circuit pitcher is 1-1 in his three A.L. starts this year. Lynn, unlike Harvey, has been good his last two starts allowing just three runs over 13 innings with three walks and 14 KO's. I like Lynn a lot here tonight as Harvey continues to struggle in the American League. Play Texas. |
04-17-19 | Orioles v. Rays UNDER 8.5 | 1-8 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 6 m | Show
Baltimore is off to a slow start this season at 7-11 on the year. The Orioles have averaged 4.5 rpg while allowing 6.1 runs per game. The Tampa Bay Rays look to be a contender in the AL East this year with a 13-4 start to the year. The Rays are 5-11-1 O/U on the season as they allow just 2.5 runs per game. Today we get to see the Rays use their starter by bullpen example. Ryan Stanek starts and he will likely go two innings at most. But what he does is get the Rays off to a good start. Stanek has started three times and has just one hit and no runs, no walks and 8 KO's in his 5 total innings. Then Stanek turns the ball over to a very good bullpen. The O's will counter with David Hess who is 1-2 in his three starts with a 3.71 ERA and 0.824 WHIP. Hess has walked just three batters in 17 innings while striking out 13 and allowing seven total runs. Hess has been solid, but received little run support. Tough spot here today for the O's against this pitching method the Rays bring out. I look for low scoring game here tonight. Play the UNDER. |
04-16-19 | Blue Jays +138 v. Twins | 6-5 | Win | 138 | 8 h 18 m | Show
Toronto enters tonight's contest with a 6-11 record after winning yesterday over the Twins, 5-3. The Blue Jays are averaging 3.6 rpg while allowing 4.1 rpg. Aaron Sanchez gets the start today for the Jays. Sanchez is 1-1 on the season with a 1.69 ERA and 1.375 WHIP. Sanchez has been very good, allowing just three earned runs over his 16 innings with 16 KO's. The Twins are 8-5 on the season and have averaged 5.2 rpg and allow 4.5 rpg. Kyle Gibson will toe the rubber tonight for the Twins. Gibson is 0-0 in his two starts, but has a high 7.71 ERA and 2.034 WHIP. Gibson hasn't made it out of the 4th inning in either of his starts, allowing 14 total his and eight earned runs over 9 1/3 total innings. Jays are a nice dog here tonight with a very good pitcher on the hill. I'm taking Toronto. |
04-16-19 | Pirates v. Tigers UNDER 7.5 | 5-3 | Loss | -101 | 7 h 19 m | Show
Interleague action today has the Pittsburgh Pirates taking on the Detroit Tigers. The Pirates are 8-6 on the season and have won one game in a row. The Pirates have been a under team thus far with a 6-8 O/U record. They are scoring an average of 3.6 rpg and allowing 3.5 rps. Joe Musgrave gets the start today for the Bucs with a 1-1 record in his two starts. Musgrave has not allowed an earned run over 13 1/3 innings of work with just 7 total hits, three walks and 14 KO's. Detroit has also been a very good under team at 4-11 O/U. The Tigers average just 2.7 rpg and allow 3.3 rpg. Matt Boyd is 1-1 for the Tigers and will start today. Boyd has a 2.60 ERA in his three starts with a 1.154 WHIP. Boyd has allowed just two earned runs over his last 12 1/3 innings with five walks and 19 KO's. Both these pitchers have been excellent and with two teams struggling to score runs, I'm taking the UNDER here tonight. |
04-16-19 | Pirates v. Tigers +100 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 28 m | Show
Interleague action today has the Pittsburgh Pirates taking on the Detroit Tigers. Detroit is a small home dog here and with a very good Boyd on the hill there is excellent value in the Tigers. Take Detroit. |
04-15-19 | Reds +142 v. Dodgers | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 52 m | Show
The 5-9 Cincinnati Reds take on the 9-8 LA Dodgers here in the first game of a three games series. The Reds saw their four game win streak snapped on Sunday by the Cardinals, 5-9. Still, they finally got some wins under their belt after a terrible start to the season. Luis Castillo starts today for the Reds. Castillo is 1-1 after his first three starts with a excellent 0.92 ERA and 0.661 WHIP. Castillo has really been brilliant, allowing 2 total runs over 19 2/3 innings with just 5 hits, 8 walks and 25 KO's. The Dodgers snapped a six-game losing streak on Sunday with a win over the Brewers, 7-1. The Dodgers started the season hot at 8-2 before their losing streak. Clayton Kershaw makes his first start of the season tonight. Kershaw has been battling a shoulder issue. Kershaw has now missed time in four straight seasons. Last season saw one of the worst statistically for Kershaw and a big drop in the velocity of his fast ball. Today we find Kershaw as a 150+ favorite, which I find hard to believe against Castillo who has been on fire. I just don't have faith in this version of Kershaw after what I saw last year. I'll take the live dog here in the Reds with a very good Castillo on the hill. Play Cincinnati. |
04-15-19 | Royals v. White Sox OVER 9.5 | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 51 m | Show |
wo teams that have had their share of pitching problems meet as the White Sox host the Royals. The Royals are just 5-10 on the season and that's in big part to their 5.5 runs allowed per game. The Royals are 11-3-1 O/U on the season because of that and the fact that they are averaging 4.9 runs per game. Heath Fillmyer starts today for the Royals. Fillmyer has one start and he got hit hard, allowing six hits and five runs over just three innings. The White Sox are 5-9 and they are allowing 6.4 runs per game this season. They are also 10-4 O/U on the year. Ervin Santana toes the rubber for the Sox. Santana has just one start and he got hit very hard, allowing seven hit and seven runs over just 3 2/3 innings against the Rays. Two bad pitching teams, two bad starters, this one looks like an OVER to me. Play the OVER. |
04-15-19 | Cubs v. Marlins +132 | 7-2 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 52 m | Show
Both these clubs off to slow starts in 2019 with the Cubs at 5-9 and the Marlins at 4-12. The Cubs have seen an improvement of late, winning four of their last seven games. Yu Darvish starts today for the Cubs. Darvish is 0-2 in his three starts, with a lofty 7.50 ERA and 1.917 WHIP. Darvish has gone 2 2/3, 4 and 5 1/3 innings in his three starts. He's allowed 12 hits, 11 runs and 11 walks. Miami still looking for a winning grove. They beat the Phillies on Saturday 10-3 and then lost on Sunday, 1-3. Trevor Richards will toe the rubber tonight for the Marlins. Richards is 0-1 in his three starts with a 2.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Richards has been solid for the Marlins with only four walks and 10 KO's. Richards is coming off his best start of the season, going six innings and allowing just one hit and no runs to the Reds in his last start. Marlins at home as a nice dog is too much for me to pass on here tonight. I like the pitching matchup in our favor. Take the Marlins. |
04-14-19 | Rockies v. Giants +100 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 16 m | Show |
The San Francisco Giants look for the sweep of the Rockies today. The Giants have taken the first three-games in this series by a 9-4 run margin. The Rockies have lost eight straight games now and average just 2.8 runs per game. German Marquez starts today for the Rockies. Marquez is 1-1 in his three starts and is coming off a loss vs Atlanta. Marquez allowed five runs over five innings in the loss. The Giants three-game win streak have improved the club to 7-9 on the season. Derek Holland gets the start today. Holland is 1-1 in his three starts with a 3.38 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. Holland is coming off a very solid start, allowing just one run and five hits over seven innings for the win against the Padres. The Rockies just haven't found any rhythm yet and with the Giants playing well, I'll take San Francisco to sweep this series here today. Play the Giants. |
04-14-19 | Tigers v. Twins UNDER 8 | 4-6 | Loss | -115 | 2 h 21 m | Show
The 8-6 Detroit Tigers take on the 7-4 Minnesota Twins today in this short, two-game series. The Tigers lost the first game on Saturday, 3-4. I had the under in yesterday's game as the weather has been cold. The Tigers have scored more than four runs just one time in their last 10 games and average just 2.6 runs on the season. Jordan Zimmermann toes the rubber today for the Tigers. Zimmermann is 0-1 in his three starts with a 2.50 ERA and very good 0.778 WHIP. Zimmermann has pitched very well, but his lack of run support has not been good. The Twins will start Jose Berrios today. Berrios is 1-1 in his three starts with a 2.18 ERA and 0.726 WHIP. Both these pitchers have great WHIP's, which mean they are not giving other teams a lot of scoring opportunities. With the Tigers struggling to score runs, I'll take the UNDER here today. |
04-13-19 | Indians -111 v. Royals | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -111 | 8 h 12 m | Show |
The Indians and Royals matchup here today in a late Saturday game. The Indians lost on Friday to the Royals, 1-8. That was just their second loss in their last eight games. The Tribe are still 8-5 on the season. The Royals are off to a 3-10 start and had lost 10 straight games before yesterday's win. Jefry Rodriguez starts today for the Indians. It will be his first start of the season. Rodriquez makes the start for Clevinger. Rodriquez had a 5.71 ERA for the Nationals last season in limited use. Homer Bailey starts for the Royals. Bailey is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in his two starts. Bailey gave up seven runs over five innings his last start to Seattle. The Royals have really struggled and Bailey isn't the answer I'm afraid. I'm taking the Indians with Rodriquez here tonight. |

04-13-19 | Rockies v. Giants -111 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 3 m | Show
Two teams that have struggled out of the gate are the Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants. The Rockies are just 3-11 and have lost seven games. The Giants have improved to 6-9 with a pair of wins over the Rockies. Both teams are not scoring much, Colorado averaging 2.9 runs per game and the Giants at 2.8. But at least the Giants pitching staff is decent with a 3.3 rpg average. Not so for the Rocks, who are allowing 5.2 runs this season. Kyle Freeland starts today for the Rockies. Freeland is 1-2 in his three starts with a 5.40 ERA and 1.260 WHIP. Freeland is coming off a bad outing vs Atlanta where he allowed seven hits and seven runs over five innings. Madison Bumgarner is 0-2 in his three starts. However, Bumgarner hasn't pitched poorly with his 3.32 ERA and excellent 0.947 WHIP. The Giants are the better team here today with the better pitcher. Nice price too here with the home Giants. I'll take the Giants today with Bumgarner. |
04-12-19 | Rays v. Blue Jays UNDER 8.5 | 11-7 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 6 m | Show
Tampa Bay is off to an excellent start this season at 10-3. The Rays pitching has been among the best, allowing just 2.0 runs per game. It follows then that the Rays are 3-9-1 O/U on the season. The Rays started this procedure last year of putting a reliever in to start the game and using him on an inning or two. It has caught on as more teams seem to be doing this. Ryan Stanek will start today, but he won't go more than one or two innings. Stanek has two starts but only three innings, one hit and no runs. They will then turn the ball over to their excellent bullpen. The Blue Jays are 4-9 this season and average just 3.2 runs per game. They have also been an under team, going 4-9 O/U in their 13 games. Trent Thornton has two starts this season but no record. Thornton has pitched 10 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs for a 1.69 ERA and 0.656 WHIP. Two very good pitching teams here today, I like the UNDER. |
04-12-19 | White Sox v. Yankees OVER 9.5 | Top | 7-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 5 m | Show |
The White Sox and Yankees are both off to losing seasons thus far. The Sox are 3-8 in their first 11 games and have lost five straight. Their pitching has been horrendous, allowing 7.0 runs per game thus far. Lucas Giolito will try and turn his fortunes around today. Giolito has two starts this season and is 1-1. Giolito has a 5.73 ERA and 1.273 WHIP. He's allowed nine hits over 11 innings with seven earned runs. The Yankees are 5-7 and have lost three straight. They are averaging 5.1 runs per game and allowing 4.1 runs per game. J.A. Happ gets the start today. Happ has two starts and is 0-1 on the season with a 6.48 ERA and 1.561 WHIP. Happ has been hit hard, allowing 10 hits over 8 1/3 innings with three home runs allowed. Two teams that have given up their share of runs. I like the OVER today. |
04-11-19 | Mariners v. Royals OVER 10 | Top | 7-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 49 m | Show |
Seattle off to one of the best starts in baseball at 12-2 and winners of five straight games. The Mariners are averaging just under eight runs per game this season while allowing 4.9 runs per game. Mike Leake starts today and is 2-0 in his two starts with a 2.92 ERA and 1.460 WHIP. Leake has allowed 16 hits over his 12 1/3 innings though. The Royals off to a horrible start at 2-9 on the season. They have lost nine straight games after starting 2-0. Jorge Lopez is 0-1 in his two starts with a 4.09 ERA. Seattle is 11-1-2 O/U in their 14 games and KC is 8-2-1 O/U in their 11 games. This game has all the markings of an easy over play. Play OVER. |
04-10-19 | Indians v. Tigers UNDER 7 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 18 m | Show
Both these teams off to good starts with both teams at 7-4 on the season after the Indians beat the Tigers on Tuesday, 8-2. Tuesday was one of the few over games, especially for the Tigers who are now 3-8 O/U on the season. The Tigers average 2.7 rpg and allow 2.6 rpg. Trevor Bauer starts today for the Tribe. Bauer is 1-0 in his two starts with a 0.64 ERA and 0.571 Whip. Bauer has gone seven innings in both starts and allowed just one total hit and one total run between the starts. He's struck out 17 and walked seven. Matt Boyd starts today for the Tigers. Boyd is 0-1 after two starts with a 3.18 ERA and 1.236 Whip. Boyd went 6 2/3 innings hi s last start at the Yankees, allowing just five hits and one run over 6 1/3 innings. Both these pitchers are very good under pitchers and you have to solid under teams. I'm taking the UNDER in this early Wednesday game. |
04-09-19 | Mariners -109 v. Royals | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
Two teams that have had directly different starts to the 2019 season. The Mariners are off to a great start at 10-2 and have won three straight games. They are averaging 8.2 runs per game and allowing 5.1 runs per game. Marco Gonzales is 3-0 already on the season with a 3.20 ERA and 1.170 WHIP. Gonzales is coming off a very good start where he allowed just one run and four hits over 8 1/3 innings to the Angels. The Royals are off to a terrible start. KC won it's first two games of the season and since has gone on a 0-7 run. They are allowing 6.1 runs per game thus far too. Jake Junis is 1-0 after two starts with a 4.63 ERA and 1.371 WHIP. Easy call for me here today in this game. The M's are red-hot and have a very good pitcher on the mound against a struggling Royals team. Play Seattle. |
04-09-19 | Indians v. Tigers +145 | 8-2 | Loss | -100 | 13 h 35 m | Show
Both of these clubs off to very nice starts this season with the Cleveland Indians winning six of their first nine games. The Indians are averaging 3.3 runs per game and allowing 3.2 runs per game. Cory Kluber had a lot of trade speculation around him in the off season, but he remains in Cleveland - for now. Kluber has lost his first two starts of the season, with a 5.23 ERA and 1.549 WHIP. Kluber went just 3 1/3 innings his last start, allowing eight hits and six runs. The Tigers are 7-3 to start the season and have won five straight games. The Tigers pitching has been excellent, allowing just 2.6 runs per game. However, the offense hasn't been all that good at just 2.7 runs per game. Jordan Zimmermann starts today for the Tigers. Zim has two starts this season with a 0.66 ERAS and 0.585 WHIP. Zimmerman has gone 13 2/3 innings and has allowed just seven hits and one run. He's struck out 10 and walked just one batter. The Tigers with Zimmermann have been a great combo to start the season and that's what I'm sticking with here early on Tuesday. Play the Tigers with Zimmermann. |
04-08-19 | Mariners -110 v. Royals | Top | 13-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners are off to one of the best starts in baseball with a 9-2 record. They have a two-game win streak that they bring into today's contest. They are averaging a mighty 7.1 runs per game, though the pitching staff has allowed 5.1 runs per game. The Kansas City Royals are just 2-6 to start the season and that was after winning their first two games of the season. They have since gone on a 0-6 losing streak. Their pitching staff has got hit hard also, allowing 5.3 runs per game. Homer Bailey gets the start for the Royals today. Bailey went 5-innings in his first start against Minnesota, allowing five hit and three runs in a no decision. Felix Hernandez will toe the rubber for the M's. King Felix won his first start, going 7-innings against the Angels and allowing just one earned run over 5 1/3 innings. Can't pass up on the red-hot Mariners here tonight, especially against a Royals team that has lost six straight. Play the Mariners. |
04-07-19 | A's v. Astros UNDER 9 | 8-9 | Loss | -115 | 2 h 20 m | Show
Both these teams expected to contend for their division titles and both are off to slow starts. The A's are 6-6 after 12 games, losing their last two games. Their pitching has been solid, allowing just 3.4 runs per game, but the offense has struggled to score just 3.6 runs per game. The Astros are 4-5 to start the year and 1-8 O/U. The Astros are averaging just 2.7 runs per game and allowing 2.7 runs per game. The A's are also a solid under play so far, with eight of their 12 games going UNDER. Michael Fiers starts for thee A's and is already 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Brad Peacock won his first game for the Astros, allowing just one run and two hits over 6 2/3 innings to the Rangers. Two good pitchers and two struggling offenses look like an UNDER play for me. Play the UNDER. |
04-07-19 | Cubs v. Brewers -105 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 2 h 20 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs off to a rough start this season at just 2-6, though they did beat the Brewers on Saturday. The Cubs pitching and hitting have both been through the roof. The Cubs are averaging 7.5 runs per game, however, they are allowing 8.4 runs per game. Not surprising that the Cubs are 7-0-1 O/U this season. Kyle Hendricks starts today for the Cubbies. Hendricks is 0-1 in his only start, going just 4 1/3 innings, allowing 10 hits and seven runs. The Brewers picked up right where they left off last season, winning seven of their first nine games. They are allowing 5.4 runs per game and scoring 5.4 runs per game. Zach Davies starts today. Davies is 1-0 after one start, allowing four hits and two runs over five innings to the Reds. The Brewers just playing too good right now to pass on them here. I like Milwaukee today. |
04-06-19 | Reds v. Pirates -125 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 11 h 13 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds off to a bad start to the season as they are just 1-6 on the young season and 0-5 after winning on opening day. The Reds are averaging just 1.8 rpg while allowing 3.2 rpg. Today they start Tanner Roark. Roark went 4 1/3 innings in his first start vs the Brewers, allowing six hits and three runs and taking a no decision. The Pirates are 3-3 on the season and beat the Reds on Friday, 2-0. The Bucs are averaging 3.8 rpg and allowing 3.2 rpg. Trevor Williams makes his second start of the season. Williams went six innings and beat these Reds 5-0 , allowing three hits and no runs. The Reds were shutout 0-2 for the second straight day by Pittsburgh. In fact, it's three straight days that the Reds have been shut out. The Reds are a poor hitting team early in the season and it won't get any easier against today's Pirates starter. Take the Pirates on Saturday. |
04-05-19 | Rays -121 v. Giants | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 10 m | Show |
Tampa Bay has been one of the best pitching teams thus far in baseball. The Rays have allowed just 1.6 runs per game thus far and have a 5-2 record. Today they take on the San Francisco Giants in an interleague play. The Giants offense has not been good, averaging just 2.4 runs per game and so far they are just 2-5 on the season. The Giants start Dereck Rodriquez, who is 1-0 on the season, going 5-innings and allowing just 4 hits and two runs in his win over the Padres. The Rays start Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow also went 5-innings in his first outing, allowing just six hits and one run in his 3-1 win over the Astros. While both pitchers were very good in their first game, I like the Rays here. They are playing very well and their bullpen has been stellar. Take the Rays. |
04-04-19 | Blue Jays v. Indians UNDER 7 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 50 m | Show |
Toronto and Cleveland both off to slow starts this season with the Blue Jays at 3-4 and the Indians at 2-3. Today, I'm looking at the UNDER in this contest. The Jays have gone under in six of seven games this season and the Indians are 3-2 O/U on the year. Aaron Sanchez gets the start for the Jays. Sanchez went a solid five innings in his start vs the Tigers, allowing just three hits and no earned runs to get the win. Trevor Bauer will toe the rubber for the Tribe. Bauer also got the win in his first game, going seven innings vs the Twins, allowing just one hit and one run. In addition. Bauer struck out nine while walking just one. Both these pitchers were very solid in their openers and I fully expect repeat performances here on Thursday. Play the UNDER. |
04-03-19 | Orioles +140 v. Blue Jays | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 60 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles have won four games in a row and four of five on the season. The O's are coming off a 2-1 win yesterday at Toronto. Nate Karns will get his second start of the season. Karns went just two innings in his first start against the Yankees, allowing one hit and no runs. This has been quite common these days for teams to start a relief pitcher who will only go one or two innings. The Blue Jays are 2-4 on the year and have lost three straight games. The Jays are averaging just 3.0 runs per game, but allowing just 2.3 runs per game. Matt Shoemaker won his first start, going seven solid innings, allowing two hits and no runs against the Tigers. The Jays will need another good outing from Shoemaker the way they are hitting the ball right now. With these two hurlers on the hill, I'm taking the UNDER in this game. Play UNDER |
04-03-19 | Orioles v. Blue Jays UNDER 8.5 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 57 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles have won four games in a row and four of five on the season. Play UNDER |
04-03-19 | Rockies v. Rays UNDER 6.5 | 1-0 | Win | 105 | 1 h 7 m | Show
Colorado off to a slow start in 2019 at 2-4 and losing four straight games. The Rockies are 2-3-1 O/U. But Tampa has been red-hot at 5-1 and winning five straight after losing their first game. In addition, the Rays are now 0-6 O/U and allowing just 1.7 runs per game. Their pitching has been outstanding thus far. Today's starter, Charlie Morton, went five innings and allowed three hits and two runs in his first start against Houston. The Rocks will counter with German Marquez, who won his first game, going six innings, allowing two hits and just one run. Both these pitchers are very good and off to great starts. I really like the way the Rays staff is pitching though and I'm going UNDER in this early Wednesday game. |
04-02-19 | Diamondbacks v. Padres -116 | 8-5 | Loss | -116 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The D'backs lost three of their four to start the season to the Dodgers. They rebounded with a win in game one of this series, beating the Padres 10-3 yesterday. Today, they start Zack Greinke, who was beat up by the Dodgers in his initial start. Greinke went just 3 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits and seven runs, including four home runs to the Dodgers. The Padres won the Manny Machado sweepstakes in the off season and they have started the season 3-2. They need to get their run production up though, averaging just 2.8 rpg. Eric Lauer pitched great in his opening start, going six solid innings, allowing four hits and no runs to the Giants in a 2-0 win. The D'backs have been getting hit so far and the Padres have a solid pitching staff. Big edge here to Padres pitching. If they can get the hitting going they will be a leader in the division. Take the Padres. |
04-02-19 | Angels v. Mariners -120 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
The Angels look to snap their three-game losing streak here tonight. The Halos are just 1-4 on the season and averaging a paltry 2.4 runs per game. Meanwhile, Seattle is flying high at 6-1 on the young year and averaging 7.7 runs per game. Marco Gonzales already starting his third game of the season for the M's. Gonzo is 2-0 with a 4.77 ERA. But the way the M's have been hitting he doesn't have to be great so far. The Angels start Trevor Cahill who is 0-1 on the season and allowed four hits and four runs over six innings to the A's in a 0-4 loss. The Angels just not jelling early and the M's are. I'm sticking with the hot team here tonight. Play Seattle. |
04-02-19 | Twins v. Royals UNDER 7.5 | 5-4 | Loss | -104 | 6 h 44 m | Show
Minnesota and Kansas City both bring 2-1 records into tonight's contest. The Twins have held opponents thus far to just 1.7 runs per game. Both clubs also start pitchers that had excellent first outings. Jose Berrios starts for the Twins tonight. Berrios went 7 2/3 excellent innings in his lone start, allowing no runs and just two hits. He also struck out 10 batters and walked just one. The Royals start Brad Keller tonight. Keller went seven innings in his lone start, allowing just two hits, no runs and five KO's in a 5-3 win over the White Sox. Both these pitchers looked great in their first start and I think they both have repeats here tonight. I'm playing the UNDER. |
04-01-19 | Angels v. Mariners +105 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 105 | 9 h 48 m | Show |
The LA Angels have started slowly to the new season, going 1-3 their last four games and have lost their last two games. Meanwhile, the Mariners have gotten off to a red-hot start, winning five of their six games and have won two straight. The Mariners are averaging eight-runs so far in their six games and allowing 5.8. The Angels are scoring just 2.3 runs per game and allowing 3.0 runs per game. Chris Stratton starts today for the Halos with no record this year and Felix Hernandez will toe the rubber for the M's with no record this season. The Mariners are now a small dog here tonight and I like them a lot seeing they are scoring a lot of runs and the Angels have struggled thus far. Take the hot home team, play Seattle. |
03-31-19 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers UNDER 7.5 | 7-8 | Loss | -101 | 5 h 52 m | Show
The Dodgers look to take three of four games from the Diamondbacks in this opening series of the season. The D'backs look to get out of LA with a split. Arizona will turn to 25-year old righty Luke Weaver. Weaver has a 4.79 lifetime ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He'll face a Dodger team that has scored 35 runs in three games thus far. As for the D'backs, they have scored 14 runs in three games and today they face Walker Buehler. Buehler is a 24-year old that was 9-5 last year with a stellar 2.95 ERA and 1.03 Whip. Buehler looks to poised to have another great season. I look for him to shutdown the D'backs here today. As for the Dodgers, I don't expect the offensive output they have shown thus far. I'm taking advantage of this matchup and going UNDER. |
03-31-19 | Orioles v. Yankees OVER 8.5 | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 2 h 46 m | Show
The Yankees and Orioles have split the first two games of this series. The Yankees winning on opening day, 7-2, and then losing yesterday, 3-5. J.A. Happ makes the start today for the Yankees. Since they acquired Happ last season, he hasn't lost a game for the Yanks in his first 11 starts. Dylan Bundy will toe the rubber for the O's. Bundy has a 4.63 ERA and 1.32 WHIP and an overall record of 31-31. Bundy didn't finish 2018 very well, with the O's losing 10 of his last 11 starts and his ERA climbing from 4.38 to 5.45 during that final stretch of the season. I like a lot of runs to be scored in this game today. Happ has been very good, but Bundy has not. Take the OVER. |
03-30-19 | Tigers v. Blue Jays -122 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 59 m | Show
Both Detroit and Toronto have started the season at 1-1 as we head into game three. Toronto lost the opener to the Tigers, 0-2 and then rebounded yesterday with a win, 6-0 behind Matt Shoemaker's solid 7 innings of two-hit baseball. The Tigers offense needs to a bit better than two runs in two games. Spencer Turnbull starts for the Tigers. Aaron Sanchez will toe the rubber for the Blue Jays today. Short price here with the Jays and until I see better offense out of the Tigers I'll stick with Toronto. Play the Blue Jays. |
03-28-19 | Mets +117 v. Nationals | 2-0 | Win | 117 | 13 h 33 m | Show
The start of the MLB season is here and the Mets and Nationals will kick it off in the NL. We can't put a lot into preseason, but the Nationals were 17-12 to finish the Grapefuit league while the Mets were 13-16. The Mets will start Jacob DeGrom who has a lifetime 2.67 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Max Scherzer will toe the rubber for the Nats. Scherzer has a 3.22 ERA with a 1.10 lifetime WHIP. Basically if I can get deGrom as a dog in any game I know I will be in that game. I'm taking the Mets and the underdog deGrom here on opening day. |
10-26-18 | Red Sox v. Dodgers -150 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 51 m | Show
You can make a case for either club here. The Red Sox are playing just like the best team in the majors that there were all season. They are hitting with two outs consistently as we saw that again in game two. Dodgers leading 2-1 and with two outs and no one on base the Red Sox strung together three hits and a walk to take the lead. LA now in that dreaded must win position. No team has gone 0-3 in the World Series and come back to win. The Dodgers know this and they throw rookie Walker Beuhler today. Beuhler is the reason they are here, with his excellent performance in game 7 of the NLCS. This is the best opportunity thus far for the Dodgers to get that first win. Take the Dodgers. |
10-24-18 | Dodgers v. Red Sox -136 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show
These teams are pretty evenly matched. They both hit the long ball, both have talented pitching staffs. But really, you need both of those plus more to get to the World Series. What has separated these clubs is that the Dodgers have been striking out a lot. Plus, LA has been hitting right around .200 with Runners in Scoring position. Boston has been hitting over .300 with RISP and make contact, not striking out nearly as much as the Dodgers do. That being said, today it's Ryu vs Price. Price is coming off an excellent start vs Houston in the ALCS, going six innings and allowing just three hits and no runs. Ryu lost at Milwaukee last time out, allowing two runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Both these starters have been solid. LA has been loading their lineup with right handed hitters in an effort to get an advantage vs the lefties. Didn't really see that out of Boston in game one vs Kershaw and it worked for them. I am coming back with the Red Sox here in game two to hold home field advantage and go to the West Coast up 2-0. Play Boston |
10-23-18 | Dodgers +142 v. Red Sox | 4-8 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 46 m | Show
The Red Sox rolled to a fairly easy ALCS win over the Astros. The Dodgers had a much tougher task, having to win a game 7 on the road. The Dodgers were supposed to be the team with the inferior bullpen to the Brewers, but it turned out the LA pen is what carried them to the win. That plus some timely home runs in game seven. Some questionable managing by Brewers HC Counsel. Not sure why we saw Hader so early in game seven. Now we get the Red Sox and Dodgers. It isn't too often that we see Clayton Kershaw a dog, let alone a +1.40 dog. Sure, Kershaw pitched the final inning of game 7 and he's had less then a stellar postseason career. Still, there is lots of value here in game one with Kershaw this big a day. I'm taking LA in game one with their ace on the hill. |
10-19-18 | Dodgers v. Brewers +106 | 2-7 | Win | 106 | 12 h 43 m | Show
The NLCS goes back to Milwaukee with the Brewers down 2-3. Milwaukee will have their full contingent of relievers available here tonight and that gives them a big edge. This series has been all about the pens and Milwaukee has one of the best if not the best in baseball. Wade Miley will start though after his controversial pulling in his last start. Miley went 5 2/3 innings and had given up just hits when pulled by HC Counsel. The Brewers would go on to lose that game, 3-4. Miley also pitched to one batter on Wednesday, walking the one hitter he faced. MIley has pitched very well in the playoffs, allowing no runs over his 10 12/3 innings with just five hits. I like the Brewers here and with their full pen at the ready, they have the distinctive edge. Play Milwaukee. |
10-17-18 | Red Sox v. Astros -142 | 8-6 | Loss | -142 | 8 h 23 m | Show
The Astros are in a must win situation tonight as they can ill afford to go down 1-3 in this series. The defending World Champions have some allegations swirling that they are cheating. We'll see how this pans out in coming days. For now, they need to concentrate on game five here tonight. Houston will send Charlie Morton to the mound with a 15-3 record and 3.18 ERA. Morton has yet to pitch in the postseason, making his last start 18 days ago vs Baltimore. Boston sends Rick Porcello to the hill. Porcello is 18-7 with a 4.22 ERA. Porcello pitched once in the ALDS vs the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits over five innings and getting the Win. The Astros need this game and I look for them to rise to the occasion here tonight and bounce back. Play Houston. |
10-17-18 | Brewers +166 v. Dodgers | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 53 m | Show
Marathon game last night in LA went well after midnight on the East coast. Both teams used just about every pitcher they had along with all position players in that 2-1 Dodgers win in 14 innings. LA's Bellinger hit the game winning single with Machado on 2nd base to win it for the Dodgers. It should be interesting to see how both managers are going to use their bullpens that both should be tired. The Dodgers will start their ace Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw beat the Braves in game 2 of the NLDS, 3-0, going eight innings and allowing two hits. Then in the NLCS vs the Brewers he went just three innings, gave up six hits and four earned runs as he was tagged with the loss, 5-6. The Brewers will send Wade MIley to the hill. Miley got pulled in game two after working a very good 5 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. The Brewers would lose that game to the Dodgers, 3-4. HC Counsel took some criticism for pulling Miley too soon since he was pretty much cruising at that point. Counsel may need Miley to go further tonight with the status of the pen in the air. Still, the Brewers hit Kershaw pretty hard in Milwaukee and with the high price here tonight, I see lots of value taking the Brewers. Take Milwaukee. |
10-16-18 | Brewers v. Dodgers -137 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 48 m | Show |
The Dodgers are pretty much in a must win situation here in game four. LA lost game three at home last night to the Brewers, 0-4. They made it exciting in the bottom of the 9th when they loaded the bases with one out. But Grandal struck out as did Belanger to finish the game. Tonight, LA has Rich Hill on the mound who is 11-5 on the season with a 3.71 ERA. Hill got a no decision in his start in the NLDS vs the Braves, as he went 4 1/3 innings and gave up just two runs. The Brewers will start Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez was 10-11 on the season with a 4.21 ERA. Gonzalez only went two innings in his game 1 start vs LA, allowing one run and one hit. The Brewers bullpen got a lot of use in these early games so I look for Gonzalez to have to go more than two innings tonight. I like the Dodgers to take this game and even the series. Play LA. |

10-16-18 | Red Sox v. Astros OVER 8 | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 35 m | Show
Game three of this series tonight and it's a big game. With the Astros and Red Sox having split the first two, tonight's contest will determine who takes that all important 2-1 lead. Myself, I like the over tonight. Both first two games went over with a 7-2 and 7-5 socres. The Red Sox start Nathan Eovaldi tonight with a 7-7 record and 3.62 ERA. Eovaldi has pitched very well of late, allowing one run or fewer in each of his last five outings. The Astros turn to Dallas Keuchel. Like Eovaldi, it's been an off year for Keuchel, as he posted just a 12-11 record with a 3.78 ERA. Keuchel has had very good stretches and not so good stretches. Both of these starters have done well lately, but with the pressure of the playoffs and two big hitting teams, I look for today's game to go OVER. |

10-14-18 | Astros -128 v. Red Sox | 5-7 | Loss | -128 | 7 h 53 m | Show
The Astros took game 1 of the ALCS on Saturday, 7-2, behind World Series MVP Justin Verlander. The Astros can leave Boston with a commanding lead today. I gave out the Astros yesterday as a small road dog. I'm going with Houston here again on Sunday evening. Gerrit Cole gets the start for the Astros with a 16-5 mark this season and 2.82 ERA. Cole has allowed just two total runs over his last 13 innings with one walk and 16 KO's. In his two starts vs the Sox this year, Cole allowed five earned runs over 13 innings with 15 KO's. David Price will start today for the Sox. Price is 16-8 on the season with a 3.70 ERA. Price hasn't had the same success as Cole. He's allowed 10 runs over his last 12 innings of work. In his start in the ALDS vs the Yankees, he went just 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs. The Astros are my play here as they have the better pitcher on the hill and are playing very well. Take the Astros in game 2. |
10-13-18 | Astros +105 v. Red Sox | 7-2 | Win | 105 | 19 h 44 m | Show
Both these teams ran rough shod over their opponents in the division series. The Astros swept the Cleveland Indians 3-0, outscoring the Tribe 21-6. The Astros bring one of the best pitching staffs in baseball into the ALCS. They will start Justin Verlander here in game one on Saturday. Verlander was 17-9 on the season with a 2.54 ERA. Verlander has 12 straight scoreless innings and the Astros have won his last five starts and seven of his last eight. The Red Sox had the best record in baseball and took down the Yankees, 3-1. Chis Sale will start game one. Sale was 13-4 on the season with a 2.15 ERA. Sale gave up some runs down the stretch, at least by his own standards. Sale allowed seven runs over his last 13 1/3 innings. This promises to be an exceptional series, but I can't pass on taking Verlander at even money or even a slight dog. Play the Astros. |

10-08-18 | Red Sox v. Yankees UNDER 8.5 | 16-1 | Loss | -105 | 8 h 36 m | Show
Game three of this series as both teams are tied at 1-1. Important matchup here as the winner goes up 2-1 in this best of five series. The Red Sox lost to the Yankees on Saturday in game two, 2-6. They will send Nathan Eovaldi to the hill today with his 6-7 record and 3.77 ERA. Eovaldi has been pitching very well of late, allowing one run or fewer in each of his last four starts. In fact, he's allowed one earned run in his last four appearances (16 1/3 innings). The Yankees counter with Luis Severino. Severino is 19-8 on the season with a 3.32 ERA. He pitched very well in the Wild Card vs the A's, allowing no runs and two hits over four innings. Severino has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. Both pitchers are in a groove right now and I will be playing the UNDER tonight. |

10-06-18 | Yankees +103 v. Red Sox | 6-2 | Win | 103 | 9 h 1 m | Show
The Yankees came up just short in game one of this series with the Red Sox, losing 4-5 on Friday. I gave out the Yankees as a live dog and we got what I expected. The Yankees gave them all they could handle. Now it's game two and once again I'm looking at the Yankees. Masahiro Tanaka will start today for the Bronx Bombers with a 12-6 record and 3.81 ERA. Tanaka hasn't been quite as sharp his last couple of starts as he was prior to that, allowing eight runs over his last eight innings. However, those were games that had no meaning in the standings. The Sox will turn to David Price. Price is 16-7 on the year with a 3.58 ERA. Price has also got hit harder in his last two starts, allowing seven earned runs over his last 10 1/3 innings. He was beaten badly by these Yankees on Sept 19th, giving up six runs and four walks in just 5 1/3 innings for a Yankees 10-1 win. I look for the Yankees to be in this one at the end and even though I believe this pitching matchup is about even, I give the hitting edge to the Yankees. Play New York. |

In fact, both come in with disappoint starts. I like this game to go OVER tonight. |

10-05-18 | Yankees +161 v. Red Sox | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 51 m | Show
The Yankees and the Red Sox begin their AL divisional series here today at New York. The Yankees won over 100 games, yet finished seven games back of the Sox for the AL East title. The Yankees send their hottest pitcher to the hill today in JA Happ. Happ was 17-6 on the season and while he did give up four runs to the Sox last game out, he's been pretty impressive. Happ has allowed one run or less in four of his last five starts. The Yankees have won 10 of Happ's last 12 starts. Chris Sale goes today for the Red Sox. Sale is 12-4 on the season with a 2.11 ERA. Like Happ, Sale is coming off one of worst starts, allowing three runs to the Orioles in a 3-10 loss vs Baltimore. Both these teams have impressive starters going today. The difference is that the Yankees have the best home run hitting team in baseball. I think the pitching matchup is even here today, so the line is a bit out of whack. Good value with the Yankees in game one. Play New York. |
10-04-18 | Rockies v. Brewers -153 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show
Pitching aside in this one, I'm taking the Brewers for the main reason that the Rockies are playing in their fourth city in their last four games. They had to go 13 innings and use a lot of pitchers just to get here by beating the Cubs on Tuesday. Then they had their emotional celebration afterwards. Now they play at Milwaukee, which is rested, has the best bullpen in baseball and is playing great. Both starters here won't be around long and it looks like Milwaukee might be taking a page from the Rays/A's playbook of starting a bullpen pitcher and going from there. I like the spot the Brewers are in here in game one. Take Milwaukee. |
10-03-18 | A's +168 v. Yankees | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 14 m | Show
Two contrasting styles meet here in the AL Wildcard. The Oakland A's have adopted the Tampa Bay Rays plan of starting a bullpen pitcher and then just using their pen from there on out. That's what we see today as Liam Hendriks get the start, though he likely won't go past the first inning. If you look at the last seven time Hendriks has pitched, he's gone one inning and allowed no runs in each outing. I'm a bit surprised that the Yankees have opted to go with Luis Severino here today. Severino is very good, posting a 19-8 record on the season. However, JA Happ has been their hottest pitcher and if you don't win today, your season is over. That being said, I believe the A's have a very good chance here today and with this line as big as it is on the Yankees, that makes Oakland a live dog pick. I'm taking Oakland here tonight. |
10-01-18 | Rockies v. Dodgers UNDER 7 | 2-5 | Push | 0 | 6 h 7 m | Show
I guess this is the appropriate way for the NL West to be determined, a playoff game. Implications are big too, the winner goes on to play in round one of the playoffs, loser has to play the loser of the Cubs/Brewers contest today for the right to be the last NL playoff team. The Rockies lost just one of their last 10 games, but that one loss is why they are here today. They will send German Marquez to the hill today with a 14-10 record and 3.81 ERA. Marquez has pitched very well, allowing two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts. The Dodgers counter with Walker Buehler. Buehler is 7-4 with a 2.43 ERA and also has been very good. Buehler has allowed two runs or less in eight of his last 10 games. Both pitchers are on top of their respective games right now. I'm going to take the UNDER here today. |
09-26-18 | Braves v. Mets -159 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 9 m | Show
The Mets and their ace Jacob deGrom will try and halt the Atlanta Braves six game win streak tonight. deGrom is only 9-9 on the season, but that doesn't speak for how good he is. deGrom has a 1.77 ERA, 0.938 WHIP and has allowed more than two runs just two times in his last 14 starts - and that was just three runs. In fact, deGrom hasn't allowed more than three runs but one time all season and that was four back in April 10th. The Braves will counter with Sean Newcomb. Newcomb is 12-9 on the season with a 4.04 ERA. Newcomb is coming off a poor start where he allowed five runs over just three innings of work. In fact, Newcomb has allowed five runs or more in four of his last seven starts. With deGrom we know we are in this game till the end. I'm playing the Mets. |
09-25-18 | Rangers v. Angels OVER 9 | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -105 | 11 h 44 m | Show |
The Rangers lost the opening game of this three-game set with the Angels, 4-5. The Rangers are 3-1 Over/Under their last four games. Yovani Gallardo starts today for the Rangers with a 8-6 record and 5.90 ERA. Gallardo has allowed 14 runs over his last three starts (12 1/3 innings) with nine walks. The Angels are now 6-0-1 O/U their last seven games after last night's 5-4 win and over. The main problem has been pitching. The Angels have allowed 69 runs over their last seven games, that's almost 10 runs per game average. Matt Shoemaker was one of those shelled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2 2/3 innings. That is 11 runs over his last 12 1/3 innings of work. I don't see it getting much better tonight with two poor starters on the hill. The runs should be flying tonight. Play the OVER. |
09-23-18 | Rays -1.5 v. Blue Jays | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 7 m | Show
Every time Blake Snell takes to the hill from here on out you can expect extra effort on the part of the Rays. Snell won his 20th game last time out and is a top contender for the AL Cy Young award. Snell has been amazing, allowing just four runs over his last four starts (24 innings) and not allowing one run or less in 12 of his last 14 starts. The Blue Jays will counter with Ryan Borucki, who is 4-4 on the season with a 3.86 ERA. Borucki has been very good of late, allowing two runs or less in three straight starts. However, the Jays have won just one of those three in support. I'm sticking with Snell here today as I lay the -1.5 runs. Take Tampa Bay -1.5 runs. |
09-20-18 | Rays -131 v. Blue Jays | 8-9 | Loss | -131 | 8 h 16 m | Show
Tampa Bay has won five straight after Wednesday's 20th win of the season by ace and Cy Young hopeful, Blake Snell. I had the Rays on the run line last night, an easy winner. Tonight I'm coming right back with the Rays and Ryan Stanek. Stanek has really been a relief pitcher, but the Rays have perfected this style of pitching lately where they start a bull pen pitcher and get one or two innings out of him. That's been the way they have used Stanek. Stanek will only be around for an inning, maybe two at the most. Stanek has not allwed a run in his last six starts doing this. The game will then be turned over to the pen. The Blue Jays will start Sawm Gaviglio. Gaviglio is 2-8 on the season with a 5.38 ERA. Gaviglio has allowed 11 runs over his last 13 1/3 innings. I like this method that the Rays have developed and I look for them to win here tonight. Play Tampa Bay. |
