Washington is hoping to surprise people this season. They have played good enough defense to not embarrass themselves lately but the offense has let them down. They are not likely to turn the corner this season.
Philly looks like a great bet to have another strong season. With questions about how the pieces are come together in Dallas they are even more the favorite in the NFC East.
Per the above Dallas might be a little lighter than expected but that is not going to be enough for Washington to swoop in. They are still a legit offense away.
Healthy has been a challenge for this team on offense. It looks like they are going with Case Keenum to start the season, which makes a lot of sense as a safe play. Even if it were rookie Dwayne Haskins the receiving options are limited.
They are hoping that Derrius Guice can be healthy and give them some more boom in the running game but his status is questionable Adrian Peterson just can’t break through the way he used to.
The defense should be good this season. They are strong up front and can get after quarterbacks with Ryan Kerrigan and Jonathan Allen. They are going to need to be sharp to get a win this season.
Washington has lost four straight to the Eagles and only one was within a TD. Breaking that streak on the road in Week 1 is too tall an order.
Philly had to let go of Nick Foles this offseason and now they are all in on Carson Wentz. It is probably the right decision but a risky one. Even more so with Nate Sudfield hurt during preseason.
When Wentz has been healthy has been really good the last few seasons. They have upgraded the skill players around him too with the return of Desean Jackson and trading for Jordan Howard. They might lack that one elite receiver or runner but there depth there is good.
What makes this group such a favorite to be strong again this season is one of the best offensive lines in the league. Whey they went to the Super Bowl those guys were awesome and they can be again.
They return the key pieces of their defensive line too. Fletcher Cox is one of the most disruptive inside players in the game and when he is on the whole group excels. They need to get back to the level they were at a couple of years ago.
Philly is a legit Super Bowl contender. This is game one and things should be working a high level because even though they have some new faces there is a lot of continuity.

Picking unders in week one is kind of boring but that looks like the way to go here. These teams are pretty familiar with each other.
NFL Free Week 1 Score Prediction: Philadelphia 27 – Washington 16
I don’t like this Washington offense much this season so unless they can turn over the Eagles they are going to struggle.
