One of the best matchups in week 14 will see the San Francisco 49ers take on the New Orleans Saints. Both teams are still looking to be the number one seed in the NFC and a win in this game would likely help their case.
The Saints beat the 49ers 41-23 in their last meeting. However, this came all the way back in 2016, so take this information with a grain of salt, considering the 49ers team was much different at that time.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers lost their second game of the season last week, but it is hard to blame them since they played the Baltimore Ravens. There was also very bad weather in this game which did play a role.
San Fran are now no longer leading their division since the Seahawks won this past Monday. The 49ers would at this time be a wild-card team, which is not good enough given how they have performed up to this points.
The Niners offense still had a decent game against the Ravens, putting up 331 total yards. Most importantly, they ran for 174 yards, so the run game still excelled. Jimmy Garoppolo was just okay in this game. Even though he completed 15 of his 21 passes, it led to only 165 yards passing an one touchdown. Not to mention he did lose a fumble, which ended up hurting them in the end.

Now the defense played very good, considering the conditions and who they were going up against. Lamar Jackson was held to 105 yards passing, but he was able to run for 101 yards. Run defense has been the biggest struggle for the 49ers as they are allowing 116.7 yards per game and rank 22nd.
Meanwhile, they still have the best pass defense, allowing 134.2 yards per game. They are really going to be tested against Drew Brees, but if they can slow him down, they will have a good chance to win this game.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints clinched the NFC South division title on Thanksgiving Night as they beat the Atlanta Falcons 26-18. Their offense were only able to put up 279 yards, but that also has to do with the fact that when they turned Atlanta over, they had a short field.
On the season, the Saints continue to have a top offense. They are 9th in passing yards per game, and 9th in points scored per game. Drew Brees did not even have to do much against Atlanta, but I expect him to have a very solid game in this one, even against a top defense.

The defense for the Saints may have allowed 348 total yards to the Falcons, but in the end there was no question who the better team was. I mean they had nine sacks on Matt Ryan. Nine!! They also forced three turnovers that led to easy drives for their offense.
Taysom Hill, their backup quarterback, even blocked a punt on the first drive of the game. Thus showing how versatile this Saints team can be.
Slowing down Jimmy G should not be too much of an issue, but the Saints must focus on stopping the San Francisco run game. They are the 3rd best rush defense in the NFL, so as long as they keep the running backs in check, they will win this game.
NFL Betting Trends:
- SF are 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 vs. NFC.
- NO are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
- NO are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NFC.
- Over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New Orleans Saints -2.5
Despite such a hot start for the 49ers, I believe the Saints are the more complete team and they will win this game in front of their home crowd.
The Saints have a very balanced offense with Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. I think laying less than a field goal is very reasonable, so I will take the Saints to win and cover at home.
