The Rams haven’t been bad five games into this season but both the 49ers and Seahawks, their upcoming and most recent opponents, respectively, and division rivals, have been terrific.
San Francisco demolished Cleveland on Monday Night Football to stay undefeated and in first place in the NFC West.
San Francisco 49ers
Nick Bosa had two sacks and several more pressures on Baker Mayfield Monday night; San Francisco’s defense intercepted Mayfield twice; and the 49ers’ tandem running game was just too much for Cleveland in a 31–3 win.
San Fran ran for over 275 yards, 210 of it coming from Matt Breida, who ripped off an 83-yard touchdown run on his first carry of the game, and Tevin Coleman who had 97 yards on a team-high 16 carries and scored too.
George Kittle led the receivers with six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. He moved the sticks on more than one occasion with tough running after the catch.
Jimmy Garoppolo finished 20-of-29 for 181 and two touchdowns. He didn’t turn the ball over.
Even with the unblemished record, San Francisco is more than a field goal underdog in this game on the road. It sure won’t be able to get in Jared Goff’s face like it got in Mayfield’s. Let’s see what the Niners have in this one.
Los Angeles Rams
Greg Zuerlein missed a 44-yard field goal attempt that would have won the game on Thursday Night Football in Seattle and the Rams fell to 3–2 on the young season.
Jared Goff overcame an interception with his team down by one right about at the 2:00 minute mark of the fourth quarter. Given another chance, he marched his team right down the field to set up the manageable try.
But Zuerlein started it out just a little too far right. The kick didn’t curl and the ball stayed just outside the right upright. After starting 3–0, the Rams are 3–2 and in third place, behind both San Francisco and Seattle, in the NFC West.
The season is still young and the Rams haven’t done terribly to have three wins under their belts at this point.
Not only have the Rams played three tricky road games against Carolina, Cleveland, and Seattle, they beat New Orleans and lost a strange game to the Bucs. The schedule gets softer.
There isn’t anything easy about this game but at least it’s back in LA. From here, the Rams play at Atlanta, vs. Cincinnati, and at Pittsburgh with a bye in between. After that, they play three out of four at home with the road game at Arizona.
Brandin Cooks suffered got his bell rung in the fourth quarter, going to the ground to make a spectacular catch. He has been in concussion protocol but hasn’t experienced symptoms, which makes it possible he could play in this game. The Rams aren’t short on weapons at skill positions, even if Cooks is unavailable.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Los Angeles by three.
This prediction makes it tough to make a play. I’ve got the Rams winning but not by enough to cover the spread. I’m not sure I’m willing to pay the -180 price tag for the moneyline either. I do lean over but just ever so slightly.
