Oakland is in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC. It is a story that is being underreported even though it is one of the most surprising developments.

The Jets have a few wins and they are getting more respectable with their play. I am still not a fan but they could give Oakland some trouble.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders have won three in a row to push their record to 6-4 on the season. Still, they are on average giving up more points than they score so far this season. I love the way they are finding ways to win but this team is close to the middle than anything else.
Josh Jacobs is looking like he will be the offensive rookie of the year. He will probably go over 1000 yards for the season in this one and when he is over 100 yards in a game the Raiders are 3-1. He gives them balance.
His presence takes pressure off Derek Carr and he has been much better as a result. He is having his best NFL season by every measure this year.
The defense needs work. DE Benson Mayowa is having a breakthrough season but overall they are not able to make big plays.
This is a nice bit of scheduling to hopefully get an easy win and put pressure on the rest of the conference.
New York Jets
If the Jets finish the season and feel like Sam Darnold has taken the right next steps then I suppose they can call it somewhat of a success.

He has led the Jets to back to back wins in which they scored 34 points. Sure the opponents were the Giants and Redskins but it is better than the alternative.
Last week was his best game but they are still not getting much from RB Le’Veon Bell. I know the Jets stink but his season-high is 70 yards on the ground. That stinks too.
Surprisingly New York is also good at holding down other running games. They are first in the NFL yielding only 79ypg. Overall the defense has been respectable.
Oakland has twice as many wins as New York but this game is very winnable. A three-game winning streak might have seemed impossible just a few weeks back.
