Giants vs. Texans Gameday
The New York Giants visit the Houston Texans on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Reliant Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX. New York enters Week 7 at 3-2-1, while Houston stands at 2-4.
John Harbaugh’s Giants lead the NFC East despite going winless in their last two games. Their road record is 0-1-1, and another demanding trip awaits.
This time, there’s a quarterback change to manage.
New York is changing quarterbacks while Houston tries to turn two straight wins into a genuine recovery.
DeMeco Ryans has watched the Texans rebound from four consecutive losses. Houston returns home after winning in Tennessee and Jacksonville, although it has yet to win at Reliant Stadium this season.
That’s a rather strange record for a ten-point favorite.
The Giants have shown resilience despite injuries and uneven offensive performances. Houston has the more established passing attack but still needs better balance on offense. Both clubs head into their bye week after Sunday.
One last chance to build some momentum before the break.
It’s Week 7, New York Giants vs. Houston Texans, hopefully we get a great matchup.

New York Giants vs. Houston Texans Odds & Previous Games
Houston opened at -495 on the moneyline, with New York at +381. The Texans are -10 at -109 against the spread, while the Giants are +10 at -111. The opening total is 43 points.
New York lost to New Orleans 34-27 and tied Washington 27-27. The Giants also defeated Arizona 36-24 and Tennessee 12-7 before falling to the Rams 28-6.
That unusual combination explains their record.
Houston beat Jacksonville 34-31 and Tennessee 26-3 in its last two outings. Earlier defeats included Dallas 34-30, Indianapolis 19-17 and Cincinnati 20-6.
The Texans have finally started finishing games.
New York leads the all-time regular-season series 5-1. The Giants won the last meeting 24-16 in November 2022 and also defeated Houston 27-22 in 2018. They’ve taken five straight regular-season meetings dating back to 2006.
Houston did win a 2024 preseason meeting 28-10. That result has little relevance to Sunday’s personnel and circumstances.

Texans Stats From Last Week
Houston averages 24 points and 355 yards per game. Its passing attack produces 270.2 yards per contest, making it one of the NFL’s more productive units. The running game has been far less effective.
Woody Marks leads the Texans with 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Houston averages just 84.8 yards on the ground, leaving much of the offensive workload to its passing game.
That imbalance can make third downs difficult.
Jaylin Noel has contributed 334 receiving yards, while Nico Collins has 323 yards and three touchdowns. Their ability to stretch coverage gives Houston multiple downfield options.
Houston can attack through the air, but its ground game still hasn’t provided much support.
The Texans allow 23.8 points and 329 yards per game. Their run defense has been particularly effective, surrendering 83 rushing yards per contest.
The pass defense has been less reliable.
Houston has recorded 18 sacks, with Will Anderson Jr. accounting for 7.5. His speed and power off the edge can disrupt an offense before routes develop.
Safeties Reed Blankenship and Jalen Pitre are out, along with tackle Blake Fisher and running back David Montgomery. Receiver Tank Dell has been activated for his return after a lengthy injury absence.
That combination changes Houston’s available depth on both sides of the ball.
Giants Stats From Last Week
New York averages 22.7 points and 333.7 yards per game. The Giants have shown flashes of offensive production, although their execution has been inconsistent.
Malik Nabers leads the receiving group with 494 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Isaiah Likely has added 383 yards and five scores.
Those two give New York dangerous targets at different levels of the field.
Defensively, the Giants allow 23.3 points and 325.7 yards per contest. Their pass defense has been especially effective, surrendering 190.2 yards per game.
New York has also generated 17 sacks. That pressure has helped compensate for occasional coverage breakdowns.
Cornerback Greg Newsome II is out, and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has been placed on injured reserve. Safety Jevón Holland and tight end Theo Johnson were also ruled out Saturday.
Cornerback Paulson Adebo has been activated from injured reserve, giving the secondary some needed help. Offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor remains questionable.
Depth will be tested against Houston’s receiving corps.
The Giants need disciplined coverage and reliable tackling to avoid giving up explosive gains. That’s particularly important against a quarterback who rarely wastes favorable matchups.
Giants vs. Texans QB Matchup
C.J. Stroud enters Week 7 with 1,714 passing yards through six games. He’s thrown nine touchdowns against just one interception. His 100.9 passer rating reflects an efficient start despite Houston’s losing record.
Stroud threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns against Jacksonville, earning AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. His ability to attack downfield has been an important part of Houston’s recent improvement.
New York cannot afford loose coverage against him.
J.J. McCarthy makes his first start for the Giants after replacing Jameis Winston. Harbaugh confirmed the decision Wednesday following McCarthy’s fourth-quarter performance against New Orleans.
McCarthy threw for 243 yards, one touchdown and one interception in relief. He helped New York produce three scoring drives during its late comeback attempt.
That performance earned him the starting assignment.
Winston returns to the backup role after throwing for 957 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Jaxson Dart remains sidelined with a season-ending knee injury.

Stroud faces a Giants defense that can pressure quarterbacks but is missing several important defenders. His receivers will look to exploit the resulting coverage adjustments.
McCarthy must contend with Anderson and a Houston front capable of collapsing the pocket quickly. His mobility provides an escape option, but he cannot depend on scrambling to solve every difficult down.
The experience advantage belongs to Stroud. McCarthy brings a more mobile dimension to New York’s offense, although his first start presents a demanding test.
New York Giants vs. Houston Texans bottom line: Stroud gives Houston the established passing advantage, while McCarthy must handle an aggressive Texans defense in his first start for New York.
New York Giants vs. Houston Texans Football Betting Trends
- The Giants have been strong against the spread as underdogs, going 7-4 in their last 11 regular-season games.
- In their last 3 regular-season games as underdogs, New York has hit the over each time.
- Also, the Giants have seen the total go over in 4 of their last 5 away games during the regular season.
- The Texans have excelled straight-up after a win, achieving a 9-1 record in their last 10 regular-season games.
- Additionally, Houston has been perfect in games with totals set at 42 or less, winning all 9 of their last regular-season contests under these conditions.
- In terms of over/under, the Texans have gone over in all 3 of their last regular-season games following a win.
Giants Texans Free Pick: Under 43
Here is my Giants Texans free pick: Under 43. Houston is a ten-point favorite, but that doesn’t mean its offense is about to hang 35 on somebody. The Texans can win comfortably without turning this into a scoring contest.
New York is starting J.J. McCarthy, and Houston’s front can make his first assignment miserable. The Giants will need quick throws and conservative decisions to keep him upright.
That doesn’t scream offensive fireworks.
I’m betting Houston’s defense creates enough empty possessions to keep the total in check.
The Texans have the advantage up front, and they don’t need to take unnecessary chances if they get ahead.
Force New York to drive the length of the field, tackle cleanly and keep the clock moving.
Houston can win this game without the scoreboard getting carried away. Under 43
