The New Orleans Saints lost a tough one to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, 37–30.
The Detroit Lions, meanwhile, got their first win of the season with a road victory over the favored Arizona Cardinals.
Each team comes into this week’s matchup with an identical 1–2 record.
New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees played without his favorite target, Michael Thomas, on Sunday night and finished 21 for 32 for 283 yards.
Nearly half of those completions (13) went to his running back, Alvin Kamara, who took two of them to the house and finished with 139 receiving yards to go along with 58 yards rushing.
All of Kamara’s damage came after the catch on screen plays and passes underneath. Without Thomas, who missed his second straight game Sunday with a high-ankle sprain, Brees lacks a trustworthy target in the mid and downfield routes.
The good news is that Thomas is targeting a Week 4 return. The Saints didn’t place Thomas on IR after Week 1, which would have automatically ruled him out for three games.
He practiced Friday and reportedly looked good. With Thomas, New Orleans is 1–0; without him, it’s 0–2.
While the Saints were missing Thomas and losing again in Week 3, the Lions saw their star wideout return, only to help them to their first win of the season.
Kenny Golladay, who led the NFL in receiving touchdowns last season, scored in his 2020 debut.
Detroit played it safe with Golladay, the fourth year out of Northern Illinois, and held him out of the first two weeks so that his hamstring injury could fully recover.
That patience paid off in Week 3, when Golladay caught six balls for 57 yards and a score in a three-point victory.
After completing just 57 and then 60 percent of his respective pass attempts in Weeks 1 and 2, Matthew Stafford succeeded on 70 percent of them in Week 3. His 119.0 QB rating was his highest yet this season.
Adrian Peterson also ran the ball a season-high 22 times in victory. Has hasn’t scored yet, nor has he run for a huge chunk of yards, but Peterson’s presence has brought a balance to the Lions’ offense that it lacked last season.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Saints.
Expect Thomas to return and expect the Saints to get back to .500 against Detroit.
Laying points on the road somehow doesn’t seem to bad in 2020. So I’ll lay up to four on Sunday in a game New Orleans has already moved between being a 3.5 to 5.0-point favorite..
