The New England Patriots stink. And this is as hot of a take as it comes but it all stems from coaching.
The game has officially passed Bill Belichick by and I am not afraid to say it. He rode the coattails of Tom Brady’s greatness for 20 years and is now getting his poor drafting and gameplanning warts covered up by Mac Jones.
There is no coach in the history of the sport that is more dependent on good QB play than Bill Belichick who is widely considered the greatest coach of all time and a shoe in for the Hall Of Fame.
He has never had a winning season without Tom Brady or Mac Jones. In the regular season without Tom his record is 63-75.
With Tom Brady in the playoffs? 30-11.
I am so sick of hearing “In Bill We Trust” from New England faithful. It is time to move on from him and bring some new school thinking into this organization because Bill is a fossil ruining the potential of some pretty good young players.
With my vitriol out of the way, let’s dig into this line and be cautious of what I say because I am emotional.
New England Patriots
Let’s talk some good about the Patriots. I watched the entirety of their game Sunday against the Dolphins and there were some net positives I took away from my evaluation.
Mac Jones is indeed a great player. He’s smart, he’s accurate, faster than people give him credit for and can throw a deep ball better than people seem to realize.
He is certainly not elite yet but I have high hopes that he can become a Joe Burrow-esque type quarterback as they have similar skill sets. He runs his line of scrimmage incredibly well for a second year player, and the boys love him in the locker room.
I was also pretty low on the Patriots other skilled positions on offence but after watching on Sunday I have changed my mind slightly. I am a fan of the receiving unit, our tight ends are solid and the backs will be good moving forward.
Due to piss poor play calling all day they were presented with way too many 3rd and long situations that will just always put you behind the eight ball regardless of how good you are.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers defence is what sells me on this team even without TJ Watt who suffered a pectoral tear Sunday and will be out until at least October. But, I also really like this squad’s offence.
They have so many weapons everywhere and all I heard was how gross Trubisky is all off-season and even Sunday but I thought he looked pretty damn alright for a lot of their matchup against the Bengals.
In the first half they pushed the ball down field with ease despite Najee and Diontae getting off to slow starts. Speaking of Najee, he is cleared to play Sunday after suffering a minor foot injury.

4* Free Week 18 NFL Betting Prediction: Steelers ML +105
This is not an emotional bet, I swear. Setting aside my displeasure with my beloved Patriots coaching staff I still think that Steelers as home underdogs is the play here.
I do not expect a ton of points here, the Patriots pass rush is still unreal against a Steelers offensive line that is not good. I lean under but the total is low so I recommend staying away there.
