The Throne of Ease rolls into Houston, where the Texans just kept their heads above water with a narrow win over Indianapolis on Thursday Night Football.
Houston fans will hope those extra few days of rest will serve their team well ahead of being 3.5-point underdogs at home against one of the two 10–1 teams in the NFL.
New England Patriots
A week after defeating Philadelphia by a score of 17–10, the Patriots returned home and beat the Cowboys by another low-scoring margin of 13–9.

Stephon Gilmore was a star on the defensive side of the ball for New England, making five tackles, picking off Dak Prescott and, most impressively, completely shutting down Amari Cooper, who didn’t catch either of his two targets.
N’Keal Harry scored the only touchdown of the game for either side in the final minute of the first quarter, hauling in a 10-yard strike from Tom Brady. Harry becomes yet another different receiver to catch a TD from Brady in his career.
Aside from Julian Edelman, who attracted 12 targets and caught eight of them for 93 yards, rookie Jakobi Meyers got nine targets and caught four for 74 yards. Brady had been reluctant to target the toolsy receiver prior to Week 12 but the change was out of necessity with Mohamed Sanu nursing an ankle injury.
Sanu was questionable going into the game so I’m assuming he’ll be good to go for this one. The Patriot need every playmaker they can get on the offensive side of the ball. They haven’t scored more than 20 points in any of their last three games.
Houston Texans
The Texans’ offense has seen better days too. These were two of the very best offenses in the league in the first half of the season but Deshaun Watson has been a little banged up and Houston didn’t look as dynamic as it’s been at times in its 20–17 win over Indianapolis last week.

Watson still threw for just about 300 yards and a couple long scores to DeAndre Hopkins but he was scrambling a lot despite taking just one sack (he’s been nabbed 32 times on the season).
Throwing on New England is a tough prospect so Bill O’Brien would be wise to try and establish Carlos Hyde on the ground. He ran 16 times for 67 yards against the Colts and is approaching 1000 yards on the season.
Speaking of doing damage on the ground, the Texans’ defense will have to be better against the run than it was in its three-point victory. The Colts top two rushers took 35 carries for 155 yards. New England isn’t the running team Indianapolis is, though.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: the oddsmakers pin this one.
I’m staying away. I wouldn’t bet the Texans with the way their offensive line looks but I feel almost the same way against the Patriots. Tom Brady only took two sacks against Dallas but the Pats’ line has been dreadful of late.
I would say play the under but I fear turnovers and sacks in this gone. Plus, that Houston offense can score quickly and the total isn’t very high either.
I think Vegas has nailed this one. I’ll watch but without any action.
