New England Patriots
The Patriots lost at home to Kansas City in Week 14 but retained their lead over the Bills in the division and their status as the AFC’s second bye team.
Baltimore would have to lost twice in the last three weeks for New England to even have a chance to catch it for home field advantage in an AFC Championship matchup.
The Patriots will be focused on what they can control: winning out and guaranteeing themselves a first round bye. New England begins its final stretch in Cincinnati, followed by home games against the Bills and Dolphins.

The Pats scored first on Sunday on a flea-flicker to Julian Edelman and then the offense got quiet. Tom Brady didn’t have time to throw and when he did, no one could get open downfield.
Kansas City blocked a field goal attempt at the end of the first quarter, down 7–3, and seized control for the rest of the half.
Patrick Mahomes converted a long third-down and then hit Mecole Hardman for forty-eight yards and his only touchdown on the day.
A Brady interception led to a second Chiefs touchdown and KC added another field goal just before the half to make it 20–7. It received the ball to begin the second and made it 23–7 with a drive that lasted over seven minutes.
Then the Patriots fought back, starting with a blocked kick of their own on a punt. The offense turned it into six and the defense got another stop.
Then the referees missed a N’Keal Harry touchdown and ruled him out just before the end zone. New England ended up with only a field goal but still had the ball at the end with a chance to win. On the five, New England’s fourth-down attempt failed, though, and the Chiefs escaped.
Cincinnati Bengals
A week after getting their first win of the season, the Bengals fought the Browns to the end in Cleveland but came up short, 27–19.

Andy Dalton has his offense moving the ball, at least inside the twenties. He went completed twenty-two of thirty-eight but couldn’t get one in the end zone.
Joe Mixon, who rushed for 146 yards and had another forty as a receiver, scored Cincinnati’s only touchdown. Randy Bullock kicked three relatively short field goals and a fourth one at the end to make it a possession game.
Cincinnati’s best chance was with about eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter, down by eight, but Cleveland blitzed Dalton and forced an incompletion on third-and-goal. The Bengals failed on fourth down and Cleveland drove down the field, chewed clock and kicked a field goal.
Each team made the other earn most everything but Dalton made a throw on third-and-23 from about midfield on Cincinnati’s second possession that he shouldn’t have.
Looking for a cheap ten yards on an in-route against a zone, Dalton misfired and the pass went the other way for six points. It was the Bengals’ only turnover of the day.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New England’s defense dominates.
There is no doubt the Bengals are frisky but this will be a test the offense just isn’t up to. New England’s defense won’t give up much. This author recommends taking the Bengals to finish under their expected total.
The Patriots won’t march up and down the field on the Bengals but they will control the ball well enough to wear down their opponent and win this game on the road. A third touchdown could be asking too much but Brady will focus his offense on finishing drives and precision in the red zone.
