The Vikings have lost both of the games they’ve played on the road so far this season.
The oddsmakers don’t care. They have made them significant favorites at the Giants in Week 5.
Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota’s offense gained just 222 total yards in Chicago but that’s the best defense in the league. The Vikings put up 400-plus yards in Green Bay two weeks ago.
It may be too early to claim that Minnesota can’t win on the road but I struggle to see where else the Vikings will win a game this season, if not at the Meadowlands.

The Vikings host Philadelphia in Week 6. They will be a significant challenge for any contender coming in. However the five remaining road games are as follows: at Detroit, at Kansas City, at Dallas, at Seattle, and at the Chargers.
One would think, at least as things stand now, this here opportunity in Week 5 will be their best chance to get one on the road. They aren’t likely to be bigger than 4.5-point favorites, if favorites at all, in any of the next five.
New York Giants
That said, the Giants have put up over 770 yards on total offense and won twice in two games since Daniel Jones took over.
Against the Redskins, Wayne Gallman led four different ball-carriers to run for at least 20 yards (including Jones) with 63 yards on the ground, filling in for Saquon Barkley. He added 55 yards through the air on receptions that all came behind the line of scrimmage.

Sterling Shepard was Jones’ favorite target, catching seven balls for 76 yards but it was a generally slow burn for the Giants offense, which controlled the ball for most of the afternoon but completed just one pass for more than 23 yards. Jones also had a 31 yard run.
The defense ate up Dwayne Haskins Jr. in his first NFL look. Haskins went 9-for-17 but was sacked twice and threw three picks.
Tampa Bay’s defense was horrendous two weeks ago against New York; Washington’s offense was dreadful last week.
Neither one of Minnesota’s units will play nearly as poorly this time around.

My first thought was actually to play New York. It’s built some momentum over the last two weeks; plus, Minnesota is a different team on the road and 4.5 is a big number.
I believe the public will think the same way and that this number could come down closer to 3.5. That’s the number I’m looking for.
Minnesota is solid, unlike Tampa Bay and unlike Washington. It isn’t going to lose this game and I’m don’t think the Giants are nearly good enough to win it on their own.
I’ll take Cousins and Cook and the Minnesota defense to win this game by at least a touchdown.
