San Francisco looks to bounce back after losing to Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football.
Miami has been competitive even though they are just 1-3. They look like a classic team in transition. They don’t know how to win yet.
San Fran has to be a little more urgent there because their division is so tough. Miami does not have much pressure on them.
Miami Dolphins
We are still on Tua watch in Miami. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a couple of picks in the loss to Seattle last week but still no sightings of the rookie. On the road at San Francisco would be a tough entry point. Maybe at home in a few weeks.
Fitzpatrick is not really the problem though. Sure he plays aggressive and that can lead to turnovers but he also plays to win. He is not going to take a three-yard completion on third and 9.
He also does not have much in the way of support. Myles Gaskin is a cute running back but the team is barely averaging 100ypg on the ground. Davante Parker is their best receiver. He is not elite and has been hobbled all season long.
The Miami defense gives up a lot of yards, 24th, but they are stingy when it matter – just 12th in points allowed. Top CB Byron Jones might return for this one.
This is a big number and Miami is always a bit of a question mark. They are 2-2 ATS this season.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco is still dealing with a ton of injuries but they had Philadelphia down to start the fourth quarter and they just couldn’t finish the job.
For this week there is still a lot of uncertainty on the injury front. Jimmy G is day to day is RB Raheem Mostert and a host of others. Plus a bunch of guys are just plain out.
The offense does look interesting with Deebo Samuel back and rookie receiver Brad Ayiuk. Both can turn any play into an exciting touchdown.
Even though they have been really battling injuries on defense, those on the field have played well. You have to consider the opponents somewhat but the 49ers are third in yards allowed and second in points.
This is another matchup where SF does not have to gear up for a high powered opponent. It is in their wheelhouse to get back on track.
