Miami went 9–3 against the spread to finish off last season, including a win in Week 17 at New England that complicated the postseason for the Pats.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins started the season looking like a team headed for 0–16 but their fortune started to change after a few early-season beatdowns.
The defense was still pretty bad all season, however, and doesn’t stand to be much improved in 2020, even after bringing Kyle Van Noy in from New England.
Chan Gailey came in this offseason to run the offense and he will go with Ryan Fitzpatrick to begin the season under center, over both Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Rosen.
Fitzpatrick developed a great rapport with Devante Parker last season. Parker is listed as questionable but should be a go, according to early reports.
New England Patriots
The Patriots’ injury report isn’t long heading into Week 1 but they are dealing with a slew of opt-outs, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Donta Hightower, Patrick Chung, Jamie Collins and Danny Shelton are all voluntarily sidelined to avoid contracting the novel coronavirus.
New England does return the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Stephon Gilmore, who anchors a defense that really helped Tom Brady and the offense along at times last season.
Of course, Brady departed and Cam Newton is in. The former MVP started just two games for Carolina last season before undergoing season-ending surgery on his arm.
Will he have the arm strength to replace Brady in New England’s offense? And will he stay healthy and play the same brand of winning football that made Brady the greatest of all-time?
This season brings more uncertainty than ever in a generation for Patriots fans.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New England -6
The Dolphins gave the Patriots problems through the dynasty years and hope has never been greater for the other three teams in the AFC East than it is now with the quarterback gone.
But don’t expect New England to surrender the crown easily. With Newton healthy and looking to make a statement, the Patriots make double-digit victims of the ‘Fins in Week 1.
