Miami has been a very pleasant surprise this season. Even a change at the quarterback position could not disrupt their momentum.
Arizona has been good too, but the expectations were much higher in the Valley of the Sun.
Both teams are competitive races and need this to give themselves a chance at the playoffs.
Miami Dolphins
Coming into the season there was always an expectation that Tua would get a chance coming out of the bye week. The Dolphins just probably weren’t expecting to be in the hunt in the AFC East.
Nevertheless, the debut of Tua Tagovailoa was a success. The team got a win over the Rams and Tua played a fair game. He did not light the league on fire but they beat a good team, as a team.
In the win last week they got a fumble return for a TD and a punt return for TD. I don’t want to say they got lucky, just that at some point the offense has to get back to the level it was at under Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The Miami defense is only giving up 18ppg. If they can keep that up they will give Tua a chance to come along. This week will be a much stiffer test though.
This week they are going to have to find a way to solve Kyler Murray. Few have this season.
Arizona Cardinals
The last time we saw Arizona they were stealing a game from Seattle in overtime. Last week they were off with their bye.
Arizona is one of the top offensive teams in the league, in fact they are tops in yards. They are just 8th in scoring at 29ppg.
Kyler Murray is one of handful of true dual-threat QBs in the league. Thanks to his running ability the Cardinals are second in the league in rushing offense.
Their ability to move the ball on offense takes some pressure off a defense that has been just OK. They have had no real replacement for Chandler Jones in terms of supplying a pass rush.
The injuries are mounting up all around the field. Most recently running back Kenyon Drake is out. The former Dolphis was playing his best football too.
