No, you won’t confuse this for a regular-season game by the time we get to the fourth quarter, but with Week 4 being the final chance for stars and other starters to rest, there’s a good chance this is when you’ll see the most action by anyone considered a regular starter.
Kansas City Chiefs
Linebacker Ben Niemann made both highlights and headlines last week with his pick-six against the Atlanta Falcons. Although it’s impossible to predict another such play in Week 3, the undrafted free agent is someone to keep tabs on in this contest, as he’s fighting for a spot not just in the rotation, but on the final roster entering the regular season.

Sammy Watkins is another guy to watch out for. The Chiefs’ major pickup from this summer hasn’t caught a ball yet in the preseason.
That should change in this one, and if it doesn’t—well, don’t panic, as it is just the preseason. But you have to wonder at that point what it will take to get this receiver some momentum before Week 1 when it starts to count.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears squeaked out a close win last week. They took down the Denver Broncos on the road, 24-23, thanks in large part to a 14-0 fourth-quarter.

Quarterback Mitch Trubisky also deserves credit here for bouncing back after a subpar start to the preseason. In Week 2 (the Bears’ third game thanks to their participation in the Hall of Fame game), he those for 90 yards and a touchdown while competing 9 of his 14 attempts.
“We’re still hiding a bunch of good stuff, too,” Trubisky said, per the Association Press (h/t ESPN). “We’re not showing all of it.”
