This week 15 match-up will see the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Oakland Raiders.
Their last meeting back in 2016 resulted in a 33-16 win for Oakland.
Jacksonville Jaguars
A once promising season for the Jaguars has quickly fallen apart as the season has progressed. They have now lost five games in a row. Most recently, they lost to the Chargers by a score of 45-10.
The offense has basically been non-existent over the past five games. On the season, they average 17.7 points per game. During the five-game losing streak, they have averaged 11.4 points per game.
The Jags have gone back to Gardner Mishew after starting Nick Foles for a few weeks. Minshew has 2,594 yards passing this season with 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has shown flashes of being the franchise quarterback, however, with how much money Jacksonville paid Nick Foles, it puts them in a rough spot.
The Jaguars have not been terrible at moving the ball, ranking 12th in passing offense and 14th in rushing offense. The main problem is they cannot find the end-zone on a consistent basis.

Jacksonville’s defense is not making it any easier as they rank 24th in total yards allowed. Their strength is pass defense, yet they still allow 232 yards per game. As for the rushing defense, they rank 30th in the NFL an allow an average of 141.1 yards per game.
A major key for Jacksonville will be slowing down the Oakland run game. Whether it is Josh Jacobs or DeAndre Washington, they must keep them under 100 yards.
Oakland Raiders
For a little while, it looked like Oakland might be able to make a playoff push, but since having that hope, they have lost three games in a row. The Raiders got crushed by the Titans this past week, losing by a score of 42-21. At halftime the score was 21-21, but the defense totally collapsed in the second half.
The one strength for this Oakland offense is their run game. Led by rookie, Josh Jacobs, he has led them to the 11th best rushing attack in the NFL. Jacobs did not play against the Titans this past Sunday, and his backup, DeAndre Washington, picked up just 54 yards on the ground. It appears like Josh Jacobs will be questionable at best, but we will not know his official status until later this week.

The defense got torched on Sunday, allowing 552 total yards to the Titans. They allowed Ryan Tannehill to pass for 391 yards and they allowed Derek Henry to rush for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Over their three game losing streak, they are allowing an average of 38.7 points per game. While I do not think the Jags will hang 30 on them, it is very likely that Jacksonville could score in the 20’s with how bad Oakland’s secondary is.

Both teams are down in the dumps at least as of late, which leads me to believe this game could actually be very close. I like the Raiders to win this game because they are at home, but I do not trust the Raiders defense, so I believe the Jags will find plenty of points to help push this game over the total.
