Houston is still looking for its first win of the season. It was supposed to come last week against Minnesota and the fact that it didn’t has turned up the heat in Houston.
Jacksonville has looked good at times this season, more often not. They seem like the perfect opponent for Houston if there is such a thing this season.
Houston is favored but that has to give you pause.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags had an early lead against Cincinnati but they had no answers for top rookie quarterback Joe Burrow. After winning the opener and opening some eyes the Jags have lost three in a row and are playing on the road for the second week in a row.
The loss looks like it is more on the defense than the offense. Gardner Minshew did not have a great day but they were able to move the ball and put some points on the board.
Meanwhile, the defense gave up 151 yards on the ground and two touchdowns to Joe Mixon, who was questionable coming into the game. Josh Allen had a sack but they have to be able to get regular pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
LB Myles Jack and rookie CB CJ Henderson are day to day. Those are their most important defenders at the second and third levels of the defense.
The perception of the Jaguars has slid since that opening week victory. This could be a spot to hop back on board.
Houston Texans
Houston winning was a strong narrative all of last week. Not only were they desperate, but their opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, had their routine disrupted due to COVID-19 concerns.
Deshaun Watson had a good game with 300 yards and a couple of touchdown passes but he just hasn’t been able to create the magic this season.
The defense has a couple of big names but the Vikings did not have much trouble getting what they wanted. Dalvin Cook gashed them for 130 yards.
Houston has to find some way to move the ball on the ground. Right now they are the worst rushing team in the NFL. That is a lot for Watson to overcome on the regular.
At 0-4, even with extra playoff spots available this season, the Texas season is pretty much over. They are already three games back of the leaders.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Jacksonville +6.5
These are two teams that are really struggling. I know there is a lot that goes into a line but I just can’t get to Houston being favored by this much. Jacksonville probably has the better defense and has a little more fight to them right now.
Though that gap is small. This is a classic case of the bettor having the advantage in not having to bet all the games. See if you can get a full seven later in the week.
