Indianapolis has a nice little stretch here with an easy win against the Bills last week and a chance to take on a team that might be even worse this week. The way things are unsettled in the AFC South they might actually get in the race.
Oakland is coming off their bye week but it does not seem like enough time to really clean up this mess. Even at home there is not much to like.
One rule of football for 2018 is probably that you are never as good, or as bad, as you look against the Buffalo Bills. Indianapolis roughed them up on Sunday, taking full advantage of a team playing a quarterback that wasn’t even on the opening week roster.
Thanks to three interceptions and a couple of fumbles recovered the Colts needed less than 400 yards to score 37 points. The game was essentially over by halftime and by that time the Colts were essentially doing whatever they wanted at a methodical pace.
Andrew Luck looked sharp but the best offensive performer was probably Marlon Mack. Mack finished with 126 yards on the ground and his growing presence means it doesn’t have to be on Luck on every single play.
The defense looked really good but they were a little soft on the run. Buffalo kept it very vanilla and couldn’t even execute that with rusty Derek Anderson at the controls. Derek Carr this week should be sharper.
A bye week is a good thing but Oakland needs a lot more than a little more time to get things pointed in the right direction. The last time we saw this team they were getting spanked by Seattle 27-3 in London. The return of Jon Gruden has yet to have the desired effect.
The Oakland injury report is very long. At the top of that list is Derek Carr, who is probable, but his top two targets, Amari Cooper and Martavis Bryant are not. Nor is Marshawn Lynch and some linemen. It is a disaster in terms of continuity and overall talent.
Injuries are all over the defense too including top pass rusher Bruce Irvin, who is questionable. Maybe if they could get after Luck and force some turnovers they might have a shot but if you give him time it will be a disaster. The secondary is missing a number of guys too.
The Raiders have one win but getting another one might have to wait til next season. They are quickly becoming the joke team in the AFC.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Colts -2
It is hard to look at one team that you don’t think highly of and make them a big favourite against another team, especially on the road. Still that should probably be the case here.
NFL Free Week 8 Score Prediction: Indianapolis 27 – Oakland 9
The weird thing is that Indianapolis does not even have to come close to their ceiling to get the win or cover. This looks like a line that will only go up during the week.
