The first official Monday Night game of the season will see the Houston Texans taking on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
These teams last met in 2017. The Saints won this game 13-0.
Houston Texans
The Texans will be looking for a huge year an are expecting to win the division. With the announcement of Andrew Luck retiring, it could be argued that they are the team to beat in the AFC South.

The Texans offense was 11th in scoring last season, averaging 25.3 points per game. They need to get off to a fast start at New Orleans or this game could get out of hand quickly.
Deshaun Watson returns at the quarterback position and will be looking to improve on last season. He threw for 4,165 yards in 2018 and had 26 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. The only problem was he had 9 fumbles throughout the year. Only 3 of the 9 were actually lost, but still, his ball security will need to be better.
Watson will have plenty of targets to look for in this game, including DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V. Fuller is returning from a torn ACL that he suffered last season and could be the key weapon for Houston as their second best wide receiver.
Most notably, Lamar Miller went down recently with a torn ACL that will end his 2019 season. That leaves questions in the run game for Houston and who will step up.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Texans were the 5th best team last season in points allowed per game. This number was 19.8. However, they just traded Jadevon Clowney, so I expect their pass rush to dip in production a little. They still have JJ Watt and if he can stay healthy, the opposing quarterbacks are going to be in for a tough time.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints season ended in probably the worst way possible last season and they will be eager to get back on the field. Losing the way they did was pretty brutal considering the NFL admitted that the no call was wrong.
Drew Brees returns under center looking to lead his team back to a Super Bowl after essentially getting robbed last season. The Saints return so many play-makers this year, which is why many see them as the team to beat in the NFC South. They averaged 31.5 points per game last year, and I see them doing something similar this season with all the talent on the offensive side of the ball.
Speaking of their offensive weapons, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara stand out as the best two options for Brees. Thomas led the team with 1,405 receiving yards last season and 9 touchdowns. Kamara had 709 receiving yards, 889 rushing yards and a total of 18 touchdowns.
The Saints also have Taysom Hill, who is a backup to Brees, but is sneaky good and could provide some big plays if called upon.
#NFL Week 1 #MNF action sees the #Texans visiting the #Saints. The line opened at Saints -7.5 O/U 53.5. We're now seeing the line at -7 and O/U 53. What side are you on for this one?

Defensively, the Saints were much better than they were given credit for. They allowed an average of 22.1 points per game, which ranked 14th in the NFL. Their pass defense was the biggest issue last season as they allowed an average of 268.9 yards per game. The key to beating the Texans will be forcing Deshaun Watson into making mistakes.
They have to pressure him constantly so he will not be comfortable throwing the ball downfield.
NFL Betting Trends:

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New Orleans Saints -7
The Saints at home are a tough out and I do not believe that the Texans will be able to got toe to toe with this offense. I will take the Saints laying the points to win by a two score margin.
NFL Free Week 1 Score Prediction: Texans 21 – Saints 31
Losing Clowney will hurt the Texans’ defense enough to where the Saints end up winning this game.
