Week three will see two AFC teams face off as we have the Houston Texans heading out west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Houston Texans won their first game in week two, but the way it ended, they could easily be 0-2.
The Chargers lost a very underwhelming game in week two and fall to 1-1.
Houston Texans
The Texans win came against thee Jacksonville Jaguars. This game ended with a score of 13-12 after the Jaguars failed to convert a two-point conversion to take the lead with 30 seconds to play.

The offense for the Texans looked completely lost against their division rival compared to their performance against the New Orleans Saints in week one. Maybe this was because they had a short week to prepare, but also they just played a much better defensive team.
The Texans were out-gained in total yardage, 281 to 263. This could be a concern going up against what is supposed to be a stout Chargers defense. They will have more time to prepare for this game, but the trip out west could cause some fatigue.
The most disappointing performance was from DeShaun Watson. He threw for just 159 yards and had no touchdown. He did score with his legs, so that was a positive. With Watson having an off day, it caused DeAndre Hopkins, who torched the Saints in week one, to also struggle. He had just 5 catches for 40 yards. The key for Houston will be getting the ball to their biggest play-maker, so they can move down the field more effectively.
Defensively, the Texans looked very good. They had very little film on the Jags backup quarterback, but managed to hold him in check for the majority of the game. It was not until the final minute when Jacksonville scored, so overall the defense kept them in this game.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers also had a lackluster performance, losing to the Detroit Lions 13-10. They have not looked great in either of their games this season, so they will be hoping to turn things around in front of their fans.

The Chargers had no problem moving the ball as they racked up 424 total yards. However, in the red-zone they were just 1 of 3.
Rivers managed to throw for 293 yards in this game, but his completion percentage was only 58.3%. He also threw no touchdowns and threw an interception in the final minutes to end their hopes of a comeback win.
Austin Ekeler was the leading rusher for the Chargers, but only had 66 yards on 17 carries. This averages out to 3.9 yards per carry, so not the best day for their top running back. With Melvin Gordon still holding out, Ekeler needs to prove he deserves to be their go to guy.
The defense was pretty good in this game and held the Lions to 339 total yards. Their run defense held the Lions to 94 yards, so that is promising heading into a game where Houston has a mobile quarterback.
The pass defense is going to have to improve because the Texans have one of the best receivers and will shred them if he is not covered. The only problem is if they double-team Hopkins, it could lead to other guys being open and Houston has plenty of targets that could make huge plays.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Under is 7-1 in LAC last 8 games in Week 3.
- Under is 8-2 in LAC last 10 games as a favorite.
- Under is 18-8 in LAC last 26 vs. AFC.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: UNDER 47.5
Both teams are coming off pretty good defensive games and below average offensive games. That has me leaning to the under as I think both offenses could struggle here again.
I believe that Rivers will bounce back and lead the Chargers to a win, it will just be very close an under the total.
