The AFC South is an interesting division with three teams, including, these two at 3-3 entering the weekend. I definitely see Houston and Jacksonville as better than Tennessee but the results are the results I suppose. This should be a fascinating game to watch, though perhaps not exciting.
Jacksonville has gone from contender to conundrum pretty quickly. They were embarrassed at Dallas last week ye they are still taking point at home. Is that a slow market correction or a buying opportunity. If you know the answer then you have some great buying opportunities coming your way.
After dropping their first three games, all by one score the Texans have won three straight all by one score. Coming into this season it was thought that a healthy version of the Texans would be a team to look out for but right now they are very hard to measures. There is talent but they are still frustrating. .
At his best Deshaun Watson is so fun to watch. He has enough arm to make plays down the field and he is willing to use his legs too. He has been pretty good but he is turning the ball over more than what most expected. He has thrown an interception in every game this season and that is a trend Houston needs to stop. .
It would help Watson out a lot if Houston could develop more of a running game. Watson to DeAndre Hopkins is one of the most dynamic combos in the league but it seems like they are relying on him to break three tackles on a play way too often. The running backs and offensive line have not been good and those are probably linked. .
Like Watson, JJ Watt was coming into this year off an injury and he looks just fine. I am not sure he is the monster he was from a play to play basis but he has seven sacks and I love the way he and Jadeveon Clowney are creating havoc for opponents. Watt also have four forced fumbles and might grab another Defensive Player of the Year award. Blake Bortles might be hearing footsteps all day long.
Jacksonville should be embarrassed with the performance they put up last week at Dallas. That should have been a win and they were basically never in the game, it was a completely inept effort by both the offense and the defense. Kind of makes you wonder what this team really is. .
Blake Bortles takes a lot of heat and a lot of it is justified. However, I think it is also worth mentioning that Leoanard Fournette has barely played this season and the receiving corps is pretty untested. I know Bortles needs to be better but he has shown that he can more than good enough to win with, at least some of the the time.
The Jacksonville defense totally fell apart against Dallas last week. They were able to put some pressure on Dak Prescott but he showed how a mobile quarterback can burn them and after a certain point it seemed like the defense kind of gave up due to offensive inefficiency. Perhaps this group will be more motivated for a divisional foe.
This is a big game and if the Jags lose it will be huge, not only to their chances of winning the division but also to their psyche. I think we will get a better effort but it is not going to be easy against a Houston team that has way more confidence now than last month. When you play someone really matters. .
NFL Betting Trends:
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of Houston’s last 5 games when playing on the road against Jacksonville
- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Houston’s last 8 games
- Jacksonville is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games at home
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of Jacksonville’s last 5 games when playing at home against Houston
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Houston +4.5
Of course the Jags are going to be favoured at home but this number screams take the underdog. Feels like it will be decided by a field goal no matter who wins.
NFL Free Week 7 Score Prediction: Jacksonville 24 – Houston 21
This is going to be a battle. I think the Jags are pretty desperate and that will force them to be sharper in their game plan. If you like them I would suggest a first half play. Houston will rally back and fall just short.
