Green Bay have continued to look revitalized while the Saints are looking like the top team in the NFC South. Though maybe not so much with how they looked on Monday Night football.
The Packers easily crushed the Lions, while the Saints ended up losing to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night.
Green Bay Packers
It was a complete team performance for the Packers against Detroit an even though they found themselves down 14-3 early, the outcome was really never in doubt with Aaron Rodgers under center. Rodgers did not have his greatest game ever, throwing for 240 yards, but went 18 for 30 and had two touchdown passes.
The thing is, Rodgers did not even have to have the greatest game because their rushing offense was on point. Aaron Jones mainly, who rushed for 168 yards on 18 carries. He added two touchdowns, which include a 75-yard run to the house.
Their defense while struggling early, allowed 307 total yards. After the initial 14 points allowed in the first quarter, the Packers shut them down until the fourth, when the Lions got a garbage time score. They also allowed just 89 rushing yards and forced one turnover.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints got out to a 10-0 lead and then were up 17-7, but slowly started to struggle an ended up losing 34-24. Brees threw for 312 yards, but had just one touchdown an one interception. At times he looked fine, but in other parts of the game, he did not look like himself.
The loss of Michael Thomas ended up being pretty big as Brees did not really have that deep threat down the field. Kamara led the team with nine catches for 95 yards. Kamara also had 79 yards rushing with two touchdowns on the ground.
The defense looked completely opposite from their week one performance, allowing Derek Carr to throw for 282 yards and three touchdowns. Their pass defense is going to need to improve quite a bit if they want to slow down the arm of Aaron Rodgers. Their rush defense did only allow 116 yards on the ground on 35 attempts.
They still will have to try and slow down Aaron Jones, but that front seven of the Saints certainly has the talent to do so.
