The Colts gave us an inspiring performance last Thursday to take control of the AFC South, while the Packers held their lead in the NFC North.
This late afternoon game on Sunday will see two teams trying to bolster their division leads further.
Green Bay Packers
It was an ugly performance against the now 1-8 Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Packers managed to avoid disaster, picking up a 24-20 win.
Aaron Rodgers even had a solid game, throwing for 325 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Packers just struggled to score in the second half. They also did not get a great performance from their ground game, rushing for 80 yards. This was on 25 carries, so they averaged 3.2 yards per carry.
Green Bay still is the 6th best offense in terms of total yards per game. They are the 6th best passing offense and 11th best rushing offense. They also average 30.8 points per game, which gives them the 8th best scoring offense.
Their defense played well too, allowing 260 total yards. The Jags still made it too close for comfort, outing Green Bay 10-7 in the second half. Green Bay is basically just an above average defense in every category. They are 10th in total defense, 13th in passing defense and 12th in rushing defense. They still average 24.9 points per game, the 15th ranked scoring defense.
Indianapolis Colts
As mentioned, the Colts crushed the Titans this past week on Thursday Night football. This was a game they trailed 17-13 at halftime and came back to win 34-17. Phillip Rivers threw for 308 yards in this game with one touchdown pass. They also had 133 rushing yards on 29 carries, an average of 4.6 yards per carry.
The Colts are still just an average offense, ranking 15th in total yards. They are the 10th best passing team, but 20th best rushing team. Scoring 26.9 points per game, the Colts also rank 15th.
Their defense was much more impressive, holding the Titans to a shutout in the second half of that game. Derek Henry rushed for 103 yards, but was held out of the end zone. Ryan Tannehill only threw for 147 yards and one touchdown.
The Indianapolis defense ranks 1st in total defense, 2md in passing defense, 3rd in rushing defense and 4th in scoring defense. They are holding teams to under 20 points per game on average, and with their ability to get to the quarterback, I see Rodgers being under pressure all game long.
NFL Betting Trends:
- The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Green Bay’s last 6 games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Green Bay’s last 7 games played in November.
- The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Indianapolis’ last 5 games at home.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Under 51
These two defenses have been solid enough to make me believe we can see an under. Both teams will look to shorten this game with the run, which in turn will make it lower scoring. For that reason, I like the under.
