Minnesota needs to avoid the proverbial letdown game after their stunning 28-22 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field last week. Detroit on the other hand is in no danger of letdown, after yet another defeat last week.
The Lions fell 41-21 to Indianapolis at home in week 8, ruining their shot at a 3-game win streak. The Lions had beaten Jacksonville and Atlanta in consecutive games – neither are great teams, but is Minnesota?
Detroit Lions
Detroit is 3-4 on the year so Sunday’s game in Minneapolis is a must-win. The Lions were never close last week vs. the Colts, but they do have one score losses to Chicago and New Orleans on the season.
The Vikings are going to try to run the ball in this matchup, but the Colts managed just 119 yards on the ground on 39 carries vs. Detroit last week. Philip Rivers was great vs. the Lions secondary, going 23/33 with 3 TD.

Detroit allowed a 338 yard day to Matt Ryan and Drew Brees was 19/25 against the Lions over the three weeks leading up to the Colts loss. Minnesota has the #23 pass offense in the league however.
The Vikings do have the NFL’s third worst pass defense, something that bodes well for Matthew Stafford and the Lions. Matthew Stafford tossed for 336 against Indianapolis, his second straight 330+ yard game.
Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota found their strategy for success last week in Green Bay, running the ball 34 times for 173 yards. Dalvin Cook did a majority of that damage with 30 carries for 163 yards and 3 TD.
The victory over the Packers was the signature win of the season for Minnesota, who dropped a close 27-26 contest in Seattle and were beaten 40-23 at home to Atlanta in the two games prior.
Can Minnesota survive a shootout if Stafford and Detroit get their passing game going? Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins was just 11/14 last week against Green Bay, but it was enough. Cousins did toss for 343 the week prior against Atlanta, but had 3 INTs.
The Vikings defense had a classic bend but don’t break performance last week against Green Bay, as Aaron Rodgers threw for 291 yards and 3 TD, while the Packers also eclipsed 100 yards on the ground. Whatever works for Minnesota.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Under 53
Minnesota has won 5 straight in this series including 20-7 and 24-9 the last two at U.S. Bank Stadium. There is no crowd in Minneapolis this year however, erasing what would be a huge Vikings advantage.
